Welcome to the day you stop lying to yourself and realize why you are not where you want to be in life! Today’s Daily Word is dedicated to self-discipline. Out of all the secrets to success, the one thing that is the most important out of them all is Self-Discipline! You can know all the tricks to the trade and understand what it takes to be successful, but without the discipline of implementation, you will never do anything substantial!
As Brian Tracy once said, “Your ability to make yourself do what you should do, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not, is the key to success.” Effective immediately, you need to learn self-discipline! You have to realize that when don’t do what you know you ought to do, you will not get what you want! Sounds simple enough, but you’ll be surprised how many of us don’t realize this fact!
NO MORE EXCUSES!! DISCIPLINE YOURSELF AND GET WHAT YOU DESERVE OUT OF
LIFE!! The World is yours if you really want it! Begin Today by doing what is necessary!!
-Ash’Cash
“Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” -Jim Rohn
“Discipline is the refining fire by which talent becomes ability.” -Roy L. Smith
“Talent without discipline is like an octopus on roller skates. There’s plenty of movement, but you never know if it’s going to be forward, backwards, or sideways.” -H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
“Having a deep desire for what you want without having discipline is the beginning of delusion.” -Jim Rohn
“DISCIPLINE is choosing between what you want NOW, and want you want MOST!” -Fred Crawford (@BIGFREDCRAWFORD)
“It’s not hard to decide what you want your life to be about. What’s hard is figuring out what you’re willing to give up in order to do the things you really care about.” -Shauna Niequist
“Self-respect is the fruit of discipline; the sense of dignity grows with the ability to say no to oneself.” -Abraham J. Heschel
“Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that’s real power.” -Clint Eastwood
“Success is a matter of understanding and religiously practicing specific, simple habits that always lead to success.” -Robert J. Ringer

A lucky 13 years ago, on November 16, 1999, Dr. Dre’s sophomore album, 2001, was released. It was an album that updated Dre’s G-Funk sound for the new millennium, and it solidified his status as one of Hip-Hop’s all-time greatest producers with an unrivaled ear for talent.
In one of the album’s standout cuts, “Forgot About Dre”, Dr. Dre famously rapped:
“So give me one more platinum plaque/And f*ck rap, you can have it back.”
To this day, he’s made good on that lyric. However, discussions and speculations surrounding his next project, Detox, have been circulating for years.
The elusive album has now reached mythical proportions. But with Dre’s lucrative headphone line and continued work behind the boards for others, there is still no release date in sight for his next album. And so in honor of 2001’s 13th anniversary today, AllHipHop.com has made a list of 13 reasons why we still want Detox:
13. Lil Wayne has said that he has “like 90” unreleased songs with Dr. Dre. Wouldn’t it be great if the best of them could see the light of day?
12. 50 Cent’s albums have certainly benefited from a Dr. Dre’s beats in the past, and so it would only be right to see Fif return the favor with a hit for Dre’s album with his commanding flow (and his long history of album-selling publicity stunts).
11. “The Up in Smoke Tour,” which took place in the summer of 2000, grossed over $22 million. The thought of Dre and company hitting the road again in the next few years with their updated catalogue of hits (and their arenas filled with cheeba) is a great one.
10. DJ Quik told the press in 2008 that Dr. Dre was receiving piano lessons from legendary composer, Burt Bacharach. Really?? Dre forever changed Hip-Hop with G-Funk. Could he do it again as a pianist?
9. In 2010, Ice Cube was apparently in the studio with Dr. Dre and discussions took place about him appearing on Detox. Damn! It would be awesome to hear those two together again. Remember “Natural Born Killaz?”
8. On September 2, 2010, Eminem brought out Dr. Dre during his set at Comerica Park in Detroit. And at the end of a performance of “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang,” the crowd chants, “Detox!” 40,000 fans can’t be wrong!
7. Dr. Dre is much more well-known for party raps than personal ones. But just as he spoke on missing Eazy-E and his brother on 2001, he could do the same for Nate Dogg and his son on this go-round.
6. After years apart, Dr. Dre and Game began working together again in 2011 (Dre narrated Game’s R.E.D. Album). And it was on Game’s debut album in 2005 where Dre said, “Look out for Detox!” on a song he produced called “Higher.” We’d love to see things come full-circle and hear Game on an official Dr. Dre Detox instrumental. Plus, wild boy Game could use a little mentoring from an older homie.
5.“S. Carter, ghost writer/And for the right price, I can even make yo’ sh*t tighter.” Jay-Z did it for Dre before and it worked. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
4. The resurgence of West Coast Hip-Hop – and the epic rise of Kendrick Lamar – has kept Dr. Dre relevant on the current Hip-Hop scene with rap’s next generation. Hopefully, some of Kendrick’s work with the good doctor will make the final cut for Detox.
3. In the 13 years since the release of 2001, Eminem went from a rap star to a global Hip- Hop icon. Between his impeccable mic skills and masterful unseen hand, Slim Shady’s contributions to Detox would be outstanding. (Wasn’t it Eminem, after all, who said it best, “The people, they act like they forgot about Dre”?)
2. Dr. Dre’s “Kush” with Snoop and Akon was decent, but we still want to hear Snoop and Dre on a new single with only them. “Nuthin But a ‘G’ Thang” is iconic and was the first single from The Chronic. “Still D.R.E.” is a certified classic and was the same for 2001. Why would we want anything different to promote Dre’s third solo offering?
1. Dr. Dre has said before that he doesn’t feel he has made his best record yet, and that he uses Quincy Jones as an inspiration to keep going for it because Quincy didn’t make his biggest record (Michael Jackson’s Thriller) until he was almost 50. Dr. Dre is 47…and well, we say Hip-Hop has no age.
DETOX, DETOX, DETOX!!!!!
So, what’s your favorite track from Dr. Dre’s 2001 album? Is Detox ever really coming? Sound off in the comment section!
Confounding contradictions continue to confuse a culture once praised for authenticity. Folks, is it merely entertainment? Wackness prevails and reverberates through Hip-Hop. Cloying smoke distorts the path for the truly talented; smashed mirrors splinter our art. Puppeteers, hidden behind a curtain of financial anonymity, push satirized propaganda. Memories are challenged, while diluted souls easily evaporate and are disposed.
So, when a truly confident rapper emerges, like Mr. 704, we breathe a welcomed sigh of relief. The first son of Charlotte, North Carolina shares his truth. It is a believable journey. As he continues to become more selfless to his art, his creativity grows. His passion, his perspective, and his perseverance are essential reasons as to why AllHipHop.com decided to interview him – read along:
AllHipHop.com: In respect to your body of work, what three tracks best describe your past, your present, and what you aspire for your future?
Mr. 704: Okay, my past would have to be a song called “Dope Boy Swag” featuring Sean Paul of the Youngbloodz.
So, I think that’s more of my past. It showed who I am, what I’ve done, and what I’ve been through—the name is self-explanatory. Currently, “Husslin’”, because that’s what I’m doing. I be on my grind trying to build my brand. I try to touch the people and relate. So, I be hustlin’. In the future, you never know where your life will go. I come up with stuff every day. So, I don’t want to name that right now, because it could be something different tomorrow. You feel me? [To answer your question…] Let’s see, I’m going to go with “Tru’s and Louis”, featuring Sean Paul and Rocko.
AllHipHop.com: Regarding your family, and your profession, in what ways are you loyal, respectful, and a leader?
Mr. 704:In everything that I do, I’m always loyal. That’s something that I’ve built myself on. It’s what I build my brand on. It’s real to me about being loyal. At the end of the day, your word is all that you can give a person. If they don’t feel like you’re a loyal person, then they won’t want to give you a chance. There’s nothing that you can really do about that. So, I always try to build good relationships and goes toward to what I do. I was raised in a two-parent home; I’m very respectful. That has a lot to do with the choices that I make in life.
By having the guidance from both parents in a home, I can look at a perspective from both sides, from a mother’s and a father’s. Some people [came from] single parent homes, just like some of my friends – some of the things that they would do is, you know, it would be different from the way that I would do. In that aspect of it, I think that’s when my respect comes in at. You know, I’m always the backbone of my family. I always try to help. I always try to give back. I always try to do whatever I can do, if I’m available, to let people know that I appreciate their support. I also like to give my support.
AllHipHop.com: In respect to your community, how are you using your lyrics to reflect your life as opposed to trying to create a façade or demonize our culture?
Mr. 704:Definitely, in whatever I do, I try to speak true-life stories. I don’t really use too much profanity. I don’t use a lot of killing. I don’t use a lot of, you know what’s going on with the music right now. Not saying that there’s anything wrong with it, if that’s what people do. But at the same time, I know what type of person that I am. I’m just not that well, ‘I’m going to kill a muthaf*cka! I’ma go shoot ‘em!’ So, I don’t rap about that. I may say it, but in a different way. You know what I mean, I just try to be respectful in whatever I do. At the end of the day, it is a representation of me. I know how I was raised. I know how to be respected and how to respect others. I try to make good clean music. I’m not saying everything is clean. There are some things that are explicit. For the most part, overall, I think my music is helpful for everyday living.
AllHipHop.com: In your opinion, progressing from Welcome to Charlotte to your impending album, Gotta Stack Before You Ball, in what ways have your dramatically grown as an artist and as a businessman?
Mr. 704:As an artist, the everyday grind, you know, constantly writing, it’s only going to get better. Like they say, ‘Practice makes perfection.’ So, over that two-year span, I’ve definitely seen more creativity in my rhymes. You know how you fit in, I just feel like I’m fitting in right now. I’m on point. I’m on time with everything that I do. So, I definitely feel a change with that. As far as my production, my production has stepped up to that next level realm.
Just learning [and] just really feeling out the game. There’s always things that you can learn, because you don’t know everything. So, I’m just making sure that I’m crossing all my T’s and dotting all my I’s. You know what I’m saying, making the right business moves, and spending the money where it’s well worth it. I’m not just out here loose hustlin’, saying that I’m an independent artist. At the end of the day, this does cost and you gotta spend your money wisely.
AllHipHop.com: Until the next time, what would you like to share with your supporters?
Mr. 704: I appreciate all the support from everybody who been following me…I got to salute y’all. Like I said, I want to salute all my supporters and all my haters. To all the people all my family, and friends, and all the people who have been supporting and respecting my movement; I’m on the grind. I know that everybody is not going to like what I do. But, they gotta respect what I do.
Well, it seems that Grand Hustle artist Young Dro is looking to reinvent himself and has officially changed his name to “3krazy”. But wait, is he even still with Grand Hustle? Even though Lil’ Scrappy is one of the stars of cable TV’s highest rated TV show’s this year, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, that didn’t stop a local promoter in Kentucky from trying to jerk the rapper out of money. According to Scrappy, he was booked to perform at a local club in Kentucky, but when he got there, the promoter did not have his money. Scrappy did not want to disappoint his fans and in exchange for a small amount of money, he agreed to do a meet and great at the club instead of performing.
Once Scrappy got back to his hotel, he was told that his reservation had been cancelled and he had to vacate immediately. The promoter had cancelled Scrappy’s hotel because he was upset that he did not perform. The hotel took matters into their own hands and called the police to make sure that Scrappy left the premises peacefully. Come on son! We hear that Scrappy left the hotel with no further issues, but was very embarrassed by the whole ordeal.
Well Scrappy, that’s what happens when you deal with Janky Promoters!
(AllHipHop News) Maybach Music Group’s flagship reggae artist Magazeen recently took a moment in between recording for his upcoming reggae and dancehall project, Red, Gold and Green, to discuss his roots and the concept behind his newest release.
‘The colors represent the earth, red, gold, and green,” Magazeen explained to AllHipHop.com. “Green is for the trees, gold is the earth, red is the fire. Right now, I’m in the studio mixing it, 18 dance hall tracks, all original beats.”
According to Magazeen, the new album is meant to solidify his commitment to the reggae/dancehall scene.
“This is for my dancehall fans who think Magazeen sells out, say Magazeen is too much on the international side, you know you have to please all the fans, so I’m just taking the time to produce a proper authentic dancehall mixtape,” the artist said, as he finishes up a tour with MMG label mate, Wale.
“It’s an experience of how the road is and being on the road with a big artist in America,” Magazeen explained. “You learn a lot of things as a reggae artist coming from Jamaica and coming to America.”
Wale jumped on Magazeen’s new single “Black Panamera”, which also has a companion video that is scheduled to drop in the coming weeks.
“When Panamera dropped, it just chance the game of dancehall. The beat’s different, the vibe’s different, the energy’s different. Porsche just came out with the four-door car which is the Panamera. I happened to sing about it, and they happened to love it. Wale loved the song as well and jumped on the remix. We shot a video for it, but the video hasn’t dropped yet.”
Red, Gold and Green is due in stores December 18. Watch AllHipHop.com’s exclusive interview with Magazeen below:
Big Boi has been on a publicity run as of late, promoting his upcoming solo album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, which will be in stores next month. In a recent interview with the Village Voice, Big Boi was asked why his Outkast partner in crime, Andre 3000, was not featured on the album, and the answer he gave left a bad taste in the mouth of Outkast fans everywhere. Check out what Big Boi told them below:
“He could’ve been on any song he wanted to. I gave the motherf*cker about five songs, but I guess he was just too busy,” Big Boi said when asked about Laface Records not authorizing an Andre 3000 collaboration. “He said he had to do some Gillette sh*t [room erupts in laughter]. No for real. He said he had some contractual obligations.”
Well, now that the article has been reposted everywhere, Big Boi is taking a few steps back from the comments and in a recent interview with MTV’s Rap Fix, Big Boi is now clarifying that he was only kidding.
“I was being sarcastic and they took it and ran with it. It was a vicious misunderstanding, how my man ain’t gonna be on my album to do a shaving commercial? Get the f— outta here.”
Okay Big Boi, but I must say this before I end this story. I truly believe that inside every joke lies a little bit of the truth. Andre 3000, I’m really going to need you to put that razor and shaving gel down and get with Big Boi for at least one more Outkast album. The game needs it!
Side note – Andre 3000 granted a rare interview with Fuse this week on behalf of Gillette…. and spoke about his collaboration with Frank Ocean on Ocean’s Channel Orange album. Andre must have been really impressed, because he called Ocean an icon. Check out what he said below:
“Frank Ocean, he let me hear the song, he said, ‘I just want you to tell a story. Honestly, I don’t care what it is, just tell a story.’ And when I got the track, I just started writing to it and I was just, I’m just happy to be a part of that whole movement and his whole movement because he has become a whole ‘nother kind of icon in today’s age. So I was just happy to be a part of that album. And so all of these collaborations have been blessings for me, I don’t reach out like, ‘Hey, I want you to do this.’ Drake, Lil Wayne, all those guys, they reach out and say, ‘Let’s do this.’ I just want to do good for them, I don’t want to mess their songs up.”
I know some people in America didn’t want to see Obama re-elected, but this is just extreme. According to several news reports, 64-year-old Henry Hamilton committed suicide because of President Obama being re-elected. The man owned a tanning salon and promised his friends that he “wouldn’t be around” if Obama won the election.
Hamilton was found on November 8, dead from an apparent overdose. The man was allegedly a schizophrenic, and police found bottles of the prescription medications Xanax and Seroquel by his side, along with his will which had the words “F*ck Obama” written on it.
I heard about people moving out of the country if a President they don’t support gets into office, but are people really committing suicide over it? Crazy.
(AllHipHop News) The FBI has updated its most wanted terrorists, and a rapper who hails from Alabama has placed high on the updated list.
The government is seeking Omar Shafik Hammami aka Abu Mansoor Al-Amriki, originally a resident of Daphne Alabama and once a student at the University of South Alabama.
According to the United States government, Omar Shafik Hammami traveled to Somalia around 2006, where he joined the military wing of al-Shabaab, which was deemed a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department in 2008.
Since then, Hammami has risen to become a leader and a major force in al-Shabaab.
Hammami has become world-famous for releasing Hip-Hop themed songs, to inspire fighters in Somalia, in addition to attracting new recruits.
“Al Shabaab was designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department in 2008; it has since repeatedly threatened terrorist actions against America and American interests,” the FBI said In a press release regarding the updated most wanted terrorists list.
In March 2011, it was widely reported that Hammami was killed during intense fighting in Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu.
But that was soon discredited, when Hammami appeared in a 45-minute video surfaced and called for all Muslims to unite in Jihad, or holy war.
Check out some of Omar Shafik Hammami’s raps below:

OK, this is a jack move! I straight up stole this from the New York Post! But, the publication is on some other stuff. Still they have an interesting exclusive read below. Jay-Z in beef with The Godfather? Or is the God Father hating!?
Robert De Niro and Jay-Z got into a tense beef at Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday bash the other night, when De Niro called the rapper disrespectful, Page Six can exclusively reveal.
Spies say “Godfather II” and “Taxi Driver” star De Niro gave Jay a dressing-down in a roomful of celebs including Martin Scorsese because the rap mogul had refused to return De Niro’s calls.
Sources add that Jay tried to joke his way out of the situation, and even his wife, Beyoncé, tried to intervene, but De Niro wouldn’t back down.
“Bob was sitting at a table, and when Jay-Z went over to say hello, De Niro told Jay that he never called him back,” a source says.
A spy then overheard De Niro complaining to the rapper, a fellow TriBeCa resident, about a song Jay-Z agreed to record for the Tribeca Film Festival. De Niro had reached out to discuss further details, but Jay never returned his calls.
“Bob wasn’t in any mood to make polite conversation,” the spy says. “He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn’t matter who you are, that is just rude.”
When Jay-Z tried to make a joke of it, saying he is terrible on the phone, a source says, “De Niro kept telling him that he thinks he’s the man, but that he was disrespectful.’ ”
“Beyoncé came over, but that didn’t calm Bob down,” the source said, adding that afterward, “It was the talk of the party. Everyone was saying there’s only one star in New York bigger and badder than Jay-Z, and that’s Robert De Niro. He can be quite scary when he’s angry.”
But a source close to De Niro told us, “It was a low-key private conversation between two people that was apparently overheard. It was not a heated discussion.”
The Darby bash, which sources say ended at 5 a.m. with a tab of nearly $3 million, much of which went to the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, drew Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Chris Rock, Jonah Hill, Edward Norton, Mark Ruffalo and Emma Watson.
Reps for both De Niro and Jay-Z declined to comment.
