So who exactly were the “higher ups” Drake accused of conspiring to take him down on “30 For 30 Freestyle.” Some people thought maybe it was a group headed by Jay Z that put the battery in Meek Mill’s back.
Remember Jay and Drake had their little t##-for-tat a while back over the whole rapping about art thing? Plus, Drake allegedly dropped out of Tidal at the last minute to team up with Jimmy Iovine over at Apple Music. ( “I got me a deal with Apple and I still feel entitled/feeling Tidal“).
Well, now there’s a new industry insider that’s being place at the center of the Drake/Meek feud – DJ Drama. The leader of Aphilliates Music Group was working to get Drizzy’s previous mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late to be a free Gangsta Grillz project, but Cash Money stepped in and shut that down.
So the word is Drama was the one that leaked the Quentin Miller reference tracks (retaliation?). That’s completely possible since most of the leaks were for songs on Drake’s IYRTITL.
Those tweets from Drama sure do seem to be directed at his fellow Philly native’s failed attempt to knock off Drake. Even Drizzy was confused by Meek’s lackluster attack.
He said in a recent interview, “This is how you want to play it? You guys didn’t think this through at all—nobody? You guys have high-ranking members watching over you. Nobody told you that this was a bad idea, to engage in this and not have something?”
Going by his lyrics, Drake appears to believe Drama played a role in Meek jumping out there. He had some bars on What A Time that mentioned Drama’s ex-wife Summer P Walker. The OVO leader spit, “If you come here trying to take some, there’s a lot more where that came from. And it really ain’t no thing, I got Summer P in this thing.”
This all leads up to Meek Mill getting ready to drop his Dreamchasers 4 mixtape. Previous Dreamchasers installments were hosted by DJ Drama, and it will be interesting to see if he’s part of DC4.
So is DJ Drama the drama king behind Meek going to war with Drake? What do you think? Speak on it in the comments section.
