FISHING FOR BEEF?
Usually when somebody goes fishing, they are generally looking for fish. This might be the first case in recorded history where somebody I actually fishing for beef. 50 Cent says something like this line in a song called “You So Tough”:
“Nowadays this rap s***t aint adding up. How n—-s get knocked for 10 machine guns, only get 12 months?”
Seriously, who else is 50 Going to be talking about with lines like that? T.I. is the only person in recent history that got caught with mad guns and got a conviction of about a year. So, is 50 Cent just fishing for beef? He might get a cow on his line of T.I. gets on it. Tip seems like he is really in a different space. 50 is running out of people to beef with!
THE JAY-Z/LIVE NATION DEAL IN JEOPARDY
I don’t know if you heard, but Jay-Z’s deal with Live Nation isn’t looking too sweet! Check this out!
June 12, 2008. NEW YORK (Reuters) – A battle has broken out among Live Nation Inc’s top executives over the concert-promotion company’s strategy to reshape the music industry by making big, expensive deals with artists, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site on Wednesday.
Live Nation Chief Executive Michael Rapino has tried to slow the pace of multimillion-dollar deals with artists, while Chairman Michael Cohl wants to accelerate it by striking deals with as many as 15 more artists, the Journal reported.
Live Nation struck a $120 million deal with Madonna and a $150 million deal with Jay-Z, the paper reported. It has held talks for a similar deal with South American pop star Shakira, according to several people involved, though no agreement has been reached, the Journal said.
This is going to mess up Jay-Z’s “A Billi” dreams.R.KELLY’S LAST HOPE!Some dude is saying there is a grand plot to set up R. Kelly. Check it out. Damon Pryor, the surprise defense witness for R. Kelly and former
fiancé to prosecution star witness Lisa Van Allen, has implicated Van
Allen and two other men in a conspiracy plot against singer R. Kelly.
In an exclusive interview with AllHipHop.com, Pryor details the

THE GAME AND KEYSHIA COLE – 106 & AWKWARD
I didn’t see this, but I heard the Keyshia Cole/The Game appearance on 106th and Park was a lil awkward. Rocsi and Terrance J seemed enthusiastic enough before the interview, but it got odd. Game seemed to make a lil’ mistake, nearly forgetting his verse. He recovered nicely.
Check it out:
KEYSHIA COLE’S NEW TEETH
She looks MUCH better and she looked pretty darn good before. Check out her new grill!
KANYE’S MOTHER – A REVOLUTIONARY?
Kanye’s mother is on the mind and my homey blogxilla hit me up and told me that Donda West was a part of the very first sit in. If you don’t know what a sit in is, google that. It’s basically a form of civil disobedience. Anyway, Mrs. West was apparently and rumored to be the at the first recorded sit-in in American history at an all-white drugstore/diner. They wanted to get it right back then! Not like now where people just roll over. Anyway, this went down in Oklahoma and it was Clara Luper, a 5-year-old Donda West and other kids. That’s interesting.
DJ STRONG SAYS “SORRY BISHOP LAMONT!!”
This is kind of a long read, but since I showed him getting chumped by Bishop Lamont, it is really only fair to put up his apology.
Contrary to what my normal ethic is, in regards to my artists and my mixtapes. There has been a confusion about the latest mixtapes release, with great respect to all concerned, I apologize that this has gotten to such a point and that it has affected a lot of people. I am very sorry that this all happened and in my excitement to make this project a big success one miscommunicated mistake was made. A special apology goes out to Bishop Lamont, I would never do anything out of spite to hurt the very artists we’ve been wanting to see so successful out here on the west coast for such a long time. We as the west coast really need to stick together especially now that we are all getting to a point where a lot of artists are about to come out; from Game to Glasses Malone to Ice Cube to Omar Cruz and many many others. For us to not deal with this in a better way is really hurting what we have all worked so hard to build for so many years. Hip Hop is fragile right now and with gangsta rap and conscious rap and other types of party rap resurging out here on the West Coast we are in a position to be back on top with our business and our music and to avoid the downside of real gang activity that has plagued our coast for so many years. If we keep repeating the same cycles that we have been involved in, accustom to, and close to for sooo long, we will lose. Not just us as djs, but the artists, the labels, and especially the fans and the communities we all live in.
Hip hop is about struggle and the want to better ourselves financially mentally and physically and to have our stories be told. We MUST UNITE! Ive seen so many mistakes turn into big issues before and we can’t let the expectations of people who want to see hip hop fail turn our minds to violence and attacking one another because we all play an intricate part in the business of music. Hip hop is really being attacked from all sides right now from radio stations to public leaders and from the outside, and for each one of us to turn on each other is going to ruin the very thing that keeps us alive: waiting for the next song or the next artist to tell their story. This is in the best interest for the West Coast and hip hop as a whole. We can turn this into a positive thing for the West Coast! -Strong
JD CONSPIRACY?
My girl Shelz has a thing or two to say about this JD controversy. Check her out.
Opinions are like a##holes. Everybody got one, right? Well, the opinions are starting to mount over this whole “The DJ is Dead” comment Jermaine Dupri made about a week ago. Funny thing is, the video has been pulled down off of every site I checked; with the exception of JD’s spot on Youtube. Or maybe my ‘puter is allergic to lil man, dont know. So is this some sort of silent apology? Between Greg Street and Kay Slay ripping him a new one, maybe he felt bad. Street said his music was lame and he was bungee jumping with Def Jam’s money. Kay Slay pretty much blamed JD for the downfall of Arista, Virgin and Janet Jackson’s last two projects. Hell, I’d feel bad too. JD did show up on Real Talk NY with DJ Envy this morning to address the Greg Street vlog (no mention of Kay Slay). But he looked a lil dejected. Envy did most of the talking. And pretty much all Envy talked about was himself. He also sat in with the morning folk at Hot 97.9. He amped up the volume; talked some smack about Greg Street, and everyone else for that matter, still aspiring to do what he has already done. But he still said nothing about Kay Slay. Maybe he’s getting one of his ghostwriters to handle that for him.
RUSSELL GOT JACKED?
Russell Simmons got jacked for about $15,000 worth in jewelry when a suitcase full of his ice was stolen from a Bleecker Street apartment building, the NY Post reports. All in all, they got him for three diamond rings, a pendant, three sets of earrings and two bracelets from the Simmons Jewelry Company. Some worker left the pricey bag in a hall way for 30 minutes. Police say all the jewels were the employees, but this reek of a press stunt. I don’t know.
MORE RAPPER JACKINGS ON THE WAY?
Is it open season on rappers? I hope not. We’re looking at a nice, new president. We’re looking at more positivity in the ‘hood (kinda). We are looking at a lot of things…and then I got this letter (no edits have been made other than profane lingo):

RANDOM QUOTES
Crush, Crush-Hurry! Ne-Yo has developed a crush on Alicia Keys.
“I just think she’s a beautiful person, inside and out. I mean she’s gorgeous…and she’s smart and she has a huge heart. She’s the total package.” [Swizz Beatz ex Mashonda thinks the exact opposite of Ne-Yo.]
Lil’ Wayne on Al Sharpton:
“You see, you are no MLK/ You are no Jesse Jackson/ You are nobody to me/ You’re just another Don King with a perm/ Just a little more political/ And that just means you a little more un-human/ Than us humans/ And now let me be human by saying/ F**k Al Sharpton and anyone like him.”
Al Sharpton’s rep on Lil’ Wayne:
“While some of the rappers don’t like the fact that Rev. Sharpton has been leading marches against the degradation of women in music, a Gallup poll released last week revealed that Rev. Sharpton has a 50% approval rate among African-Americans. So why dignify a response to one rap artist who doesn’t even say anything substantive.”
[Read a letter given to me about this very topic. Interesting.] I’m rocking with Al so f**k me.
Chris Brown gets closer to calling Rihanna his girl:
“I wouldn’t say it’s technically dating, I would say it’s a very close friendship.”

HILL HARPER ON KANYE WEST
AllHipHop.com: How about with controversial content, those that may or may not have a redeeming cause? Like with the case of Nas and initially naming his album N***er. Nobody could tell if he named it that because he wanted to say something on his record, or if was just a publicity stunt.
Hill Harper: Every artist has a right to freedom of speech and freedom of expression, there’s no question about that. I believe that every artist, who is responsible, should be responsible about knowing the effect that their content has and does. I’ll give you a quick example; Kanye West named his first album College Dropout. Now here’s the deal, I talk about fear being false evidence appearing real. Kanye provided false evidence that appeared real. He put something out there that he knew…he knew why he named his album College Dropout.
