Game Sued Over Mixtape Beat

(AllHipHop News) The Game has been sued from a producer over a beat that was used for the rapper’s highly touted mixtape California Republic.

The rapper has been slapped with a $100,000 lawsuit by Infamous, according to TMZ.

Infamous claims that he gave The Game the beat to “Skate On” in 2010 so that the Compton rapper could determine if he wanted to use it. He alleges that he never heard from The Game, but the song was used on the free mixtape without his consent.

Infamous also charges that he tried to contact The Game in April via a letter, but did not get a response.

Infamous said he generally charges from $20,000 — $25,000 per beat.

Deadbeat detrimental Jewish business conduct shit.

  • This is what happens when you show off about buying and all leather sportcar as if you have no worries in the world…Take care of you’re priorities first before bragging about ghetto bullshit like an all leather exterior sportscar.

    • therealest1

Its that hood rich mentality that these rappers live their lives on. They don’t think about tomorrow, they live for today only.

  • KingChandler

This producer is definately lookin’ for a come up. He usually charges 20 to 25 g’s for a beat, GTFOH.

  • Nemesis_Enforcer

Good. Rappers need to understand that they can’t just use people’s copy-written music without consent. When you use a beat, now you have taken money out of the hands of the producer who now can not sell the beat if the rapper who used it is high profile.

    • therealest1

      That’s that bootleg shit.

    • bs. Rappers use the same beats all the time and everyone knows where they heard the beat first. A good beat is a good beat and if the song is not copyrighted they want to use it. If the song is really good people will pay to “sample” the original. Do your history unless you want me to do it for you

      • EXACTLY

      • Macie Hill

Ya not even makin’ any since…. WTH did u just say?

  • billybigbuks

It’s free cuz he used it on a mixtape for promotional purposes. But if he performing the song which he probably is, he need to pay up.

    • 7yoyo7

Not true, it was a free mixtape but rappers actually pay for studio time, features AND beats out of their pocket to keep their name ringing.

Game needs to pay up (if this producer aint lying…)

      • Ronald Allen Booher

you get your royalties when its on the album. As far as you know it was given to him on a disc…nothing he said implies he was literally was in the studio with Game or even met.

      • 7yoyo7

My comment did not imply anything about royalties or them meeting. If an artist uses a beat he has to pay the producer for it.
        Mixtape, album or lost track.

  • brotha_man

I would do the same thing if i was a producer tht was trying
to get on. I gotta eat too, fuk tht free shit.

  • Bacon man 914

whats the name of the song

ok explain this to me someone not being funny really asking a question if its on a free mixtape and he did not profit from it how can the producer get any money? if he never got any
from the mixtape if it was free?

    • Nemesis_Enforcer

The producer can never sell that beat again if people heard Game on it. A person can make 6-7 figures on ONE song if it becomes big enough.

      • yes he still can. 40 glocc, Jim Jones, KAR, and others all have beats that were used by g-unit alone. California republic is not exactly that big of a mixtape anyway. I myself couldn’t even identify the beat that is being talked about.

    • Tony G.

its a mixtape song, but if it became a hit..it could get radio play…he could use it in concert…all of that is profit

  • 25 G ain’t shit to the game lol he makes more then that at one appearance at a club.

  • AK

how is he trying to make money everyone uses other beats on free mixtapes, they will drop this case due to game not making profit

  • AK

and who the hell is gonna buy a 20k beat? you aint dr dre and most rappers broke as hell

  • Blackstallion777

Charges 20,000-25,000 grand per beat but is suing for 100K for a beat used on a free mixtape? Maybe it’s just me that thinks that is excess. Shrugs

  • you are not supposed to pay for mixtape beats. They are given out for free and no profit is to be made off of them. If Game was selling his mixtapes in stores with a label backing, videos, radio play etc it would be reasonable to sue.

  • brollya

its a mixtape beat… dude will get nothin “FAIL”

    • EXACTLY…THESE PRODUCERS BE RIDIN ARTIST DICK SO MUCH AND SEND OUT FREE BEATS WITH NO PAPERWORK OR NOTHING THEN GET MAD WHEN THEY GET “BEAT JACKED”…PLUS ITS A FREE MIXTAPE..DUDES WASTING HIS TIME WITH THIS LAWSUIT

  • niggas r ignorant. $25K aint shit for a beat. Premier charges $80K, Dre,Pharell,Swizz and Timbaland charge from $150-$250k. niggas think they have internal knowledge lmao. foh. read a book or talk to sum1 actually IN the industry b4 u make stupid ass comments.

    • You have any idea how many hundred of mixtape songs game has? It would be millions and millions if Game were to pay for every beat. You want an end to the mixtape scene?

  • King Cold

good…its called asking for permission. cant take and not pay this aint a liquor store

Why was it so easy for Game to be sued, but Lord Finesse is having a hard time collecting his money from a Jew kid (Mac Miller) who did the same thing? This type of stuff just won’t change..

  • First of all its a free mixtape….if he didnt make a profit from it there is no case…plus he gave him the beat

  • All of this could have been avoided had The Game had the common decency to ASK the producer first if he could use it on his mixtape. I honestly don’t think the producer should win b/c it was for a not for profit mixtape, BUT that decision should have left up to the producer as to how his beat would be used.. If that song becomes an underground hit, some rappers may not want to use it as it would be too closely associated with the Game’s song, but at least his name would be known.

Point Blank.. The Game was ultimately in the wrong, but all these entertainers taking this ish to court is going to be the death of the mixtape genre. We need some set rules, but I don’t full trust the government to set them.
