AHH Stray News: Snoop Snaps On Colin Kaepernick, Kurtis Blow Is Back, Mos Def Returns

KURTIS BLOW, MOS DEF AND SNOOP IN THE HEADLINES

Snoop Dogg

Rapper Snoop Dogg had some stern words for Colin Kaepernick, after the outspoken quarterback for The San Francisco 49ers. Last week, Kaepernick seemed to support Castro in an answer to a question about why he wore a shirt with a picture of the deceased Cuban dictator in August. Snoop called Kaepernick a hypocrite for his support of Fidel Castro. Snoop appeared on Sports 1’s “Undisputed” show and when asked about Kaepernick and his views on Castro, the rap star did not hold back. “He’s sort of kind of hypocritical in so many words because he’s pushing this, but at the same time he’s giving credit for this and this is the same abuse that [Cubans] been taking” the rapper said. “So it makes you hypocritical to be able to speak on this topic and that topic.”

Kurtis Blow

Rap legend Kurtis Blow will return to the stage in a major way, as part of a 23-city North American tour of “The Hip Hop Nutcracker.” Kurtis Blow is part of the cast of the play, which is set to Tchaikovsky’s music. The play kicked off last night (December 3) at United Palace and NJPAC, in New Jersey. Kurtis opens the show in select cities, and does a short set before the play kicks off. Kurtis Blow, who’s first single “Christmas Rappin” was the first Hip-Hop single to be released on a major label, has recovered after suffering a heart attack last month.

Mos Def

Rapper Mos Def made his first major appearance in the United States over the weekend, since being deported from South Africa, after a battle with the government over his “World Passport.” The rapper was spotted at the Surf Lodge Bungalow at the W Hotel during Miami’s annual Art Basel festival.
