(AllHipHop News) Now that Nicki Minaj has come out and stated that she did not intend to slight Iggy Azalea with her much talked about speech at the BET Awards this weekend, Iggy is now addressing the issue publicly as well.

Many people suspected when the Young Money rapper offered her “when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it” line after picking up the trophy for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, she was subtly directed those words at fellow nominee Iggy Azalea.
Minaj later tweeted out a message denying she was throwing shots at the “Fancy” performer and claimed the media put words in her mouth.
The media puts words in my mouth all the time and this is no different. I will always take a stance on women writing b/c I believe in us!

I believe we’re smart enough to write down our own thoughts and perspective, just like the men do. I’ve been saying this for 5 YEARS

I fell in love with Lauryn Hill b/c I knew she was the author behind those amazingly profound and articulated songs on the MisEducation
— PillsNPotions (@NICKIMINAJ) July 2, 2014
I wondered how Lauryn tapped into my brain and wrote an album on love, betrayal, passion, pain, triumph, brokenness…. Did she read minds?

It’s the same reason I have a different level of respect for Missy. I know she’s a writer and a producer. Women MUST aspire for more.

I’ve congratulated Iggy on the success of Fancy, publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud.

Nicki’s tweets are a change of tone from earlier in her career. Her comments on female Hip Hop artists writing their own lyrics were more combative back in 2008. She rapped “How the f**k you in the game like ten years strong? Y’all b***hes still can’t write your own damn song?” during her breakout freestyle on The Come Up DVD.
Iggy also went to social media to give her response to the controversy, and she is looking to move past the entire matter too. She posted a note on Instagram and then continued her statement on Twitter.
This is my mind state about everything & the only time I’m ever going to refer to this again so go nuts guys, Enjoy it. Ps. If you squint exxxtra hard you can see tiny elves having illuminati meetings between the lines in my notes app too. ?

Also, just wanna say I think it’s dope that there was even a debate & conversation about who would win “best female rapper” this year.

Usually I feel like the award is overlooked. I’m happy there was anticipation in regards to who’d get it & congrats to nicki for winning. — IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) July 2, 2014
