Prosecutors Ask For Suge Knight's Bail Be Set At $25 Million, Accuse Him Of Extorting Rappers

WAS SUGE REQUIRING RAPPERS TO “CHECK IN” WHEN THEY ARRIVED IN LA?

(AllHipHop News) Prosecutors in Marion “Suge” Knight’s murder case have requested a judge to set his bail at $25 million, according to a report by AOL.com.

Deputy District Attorney Cynthia Barnes cited 31 incidents where Knight allegedly threatened violence against other individuals since 2004, and the motion also accused Suge of extorting both up-and-coming and established rappers. The Death Row Records co-founder supposedly made $10 million off one extortion scheme.

“Apparently when a new artist or rapper comes to either Los Angeles or Las Vegas, he is required to pay a ‘tax’ to defendant Knight,” stated Barnes’ motion.

In an exclusive 2014 interview with AllHipHop.com, former associate Lloyd Lake recalled Knight asking him to confront Drake at one point. He did not confirmed whether Knight asked him to extort money from the Young Money star, but he did relay his concerned the move was a set-up implemented by the FBI.

“One night [Knight] called me and said, ‘I need you to go push on Drake for me,'” said Lake. “I already had in my mind [Knight] could be an informant, but the only reason I went down there was to check to see if I could figure out if he really was an informant and to see if I saw any FBI or anybody in the vicinity or in the club. Sure enough I did. They followed me everywhere I moved through there.”

Knight is currently being held without bail for a January hit-and-run incident that left Cle “Bone” Sloan injured and Terry Carter dead. Knight pled not guilty to murder, attempted murder, and hit-and-run charges. He is scheduled to return to a Los Angeles court this morning.
