Kanye West Blasts Censorship Of “All Day” & “Black Skinhead” At 2015 Billboard Music Awards

YE CALLS BMA’S BLOCK OUT “UNWANTED CENSORSHIP” & “RIDICULOUS”

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West and award shows is a combination that has become synonymous with controversy. The latest example was his set at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.

West’s performance of “All Day” and “Black Skinhead” was heavily censored due to the tracks containing the word “n*gga” and other obscenities. An uncensored version of the “All Day” performance hit the internet showing Kanye mostly self-censored, but his audio was still blocked out for long sections during the live broadcast.

The Hollywood Reporter received a statement from Kanye via his publicist. The 21 time Grammy winner referred to his treatment at the BMA’s as “ridiculous.” The statement reads in part:

Kanye West was grossly over-censored at the Billboard Music Awards. Non-profane lyrics such as ‘with my leather black jeans on’ were muted for over 30 second intervals. As a result, his voice and performance were seriously misrepresented.

While criticizing the “unwarranted censorship,” Kanye also apologized to viewers who were unable to “enjoy the performance the way he envisioned.” A representative from the BMA production revealed to TMZ Ye did not run a dress rehearsal of the song. The source told the site, “He’s Kanye. What are we supposed to do?”
