According to Revolt, the funeral services were attended by fellow rap figures French Montana, Vado, Maino, DJ Clue, and others. Chinx’s cousin Norman Seabrook spoke at the services.

“His son comes up to me, Nugget, and I pick him up, and he says ‘Is that a God box?’ And I said, ‘It’s a God box.’ And he looked at me and tears began to roll down my face,” relayed Seabrook. “And he said to me ‘When is he going to wake up to come home?’ And I said, ‘He’s sleeping right now, you’ll see him again.’ And he said, ‘When?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know when. But he’s up in God’s house living.'”

Seabrook is also head of the Correctional Services for New York City. He took the opportunity to address violence in the community, urging the youth to turn away from killing each other.

“I’m always speaking about gun violence,” Seabrook added. “I’m always talking about how kids are killing each other. How they’re shooting each other. How one person is dead and another person goes to prison. They’re dead too. We have to do better than this. We must do better than this.”

Chinx was killed on May 17 during a drive-by shooting on Queens Boulevard. Police are still investigating. As of press time, no arrests have been made.
