Benzino fiercely defended Nas and now he’s riding for The Roots while calling out Scott Storch.

Benzino reignited a fiery feud with producer Scott Storch this week. Storch has a recent interview accusing The Roots of “hating” during his early days as a musician. Benzino literally just lashed out at Jim Jones for comments he made downplaying Nas’s relevance. Benzino has made it clear he won’t stand by when Hip-Hop legends are disrespected.

“Scott Storch should be grateful that Hip-Hop even gave him a lane,” Benzino said during his online rant. “He’s made millions from the same culture he now criticizes. The Roots brought him in, and now he’s throwing dirt? Nah, we not doing that.”

The drama stems from an interview where Storch reflected on his time with The Roots, calling them “haters” who didn’t recognize his talent early on. Zino the Great said, “He was keyboarding with The Roots before he touched all that Dre or Joe stuff. Now he’s acting like they held him back. That’s disrespectful.”

Scott Storch is now a mega-producer behind hits like “Lean Back” and “Still D.R.E.” He also has a notorious rep as somebody that liked that white stuff. He has not publicly responded to Benzino’s criticism.

Like Jim, I think they prefer not to engage with bro.

Like it or not, Benzino seems to be forming a role as a watchdog for the culture. Benzino is positioning himself as the unexpected guardian of cultural truth!
