Recently, YG’s ‘My Krazy Life Tour’ rocked New York City’s, Irving Plaza. The capacity crowd demonstrated how much the Big Apple appreciates the West!
Washington D.C.’s, Fat Trel, accepted the challenge of opening the show. Gripping the mic, the MMG signee demanded, “Y’all f*ck with Maybach Music?” The rhetorical question was emphatically answered by the crowd’s zealous response. Bolstered by loyal supporters, natural showmanship, and ingrained confidence, Trel’s performance demanded respect. Crowd favorites like “Shhh,” “She Fell In Love,” and “Respect With This Tech,” all satisfied the eager crowd.
“NYC, are y’all ready to party,” the question, more of a challenge, was swiftly answered with the infectious intro to “Rack City.” Manipulating the 1’s & 2’s, DJ Mustard, commenced his set with some of his globally recognizable production.
Speaking through his music, Jeezy’s “R.I.P.,” demonstrated Mustard’s ability to kill the game and the crowd. Mustard, “the newest member of Roc Nation,” took time to reflect upon inspiration like Mannie Fresh and Juvenile. Classics like “Back Dat Ass Up,” “Stay Fly,” and “Give It To Me” demonstrated some of his creative influences.
“Paranoid,” “Loyal,” and “Show Me,” were all echoed word-for-word by the invigorated audience. Always one to share the spotlight, Mustard brought out Pushaz Ink’s, RJ; he exuded endless energy.
After an extended intermission, the stage was transformed to 400 W. Spruce Street. A standard nondescript crack-house oppressed the stage. Jumping off the “porch” YG’s appearance enlivened the crowd. Dressed in the classic coke-white t-shirt, Dickie’s shorts, tall tube socks, Dodger’s fitted and black milkshakes—his outfit a reflection of his inherent community. A designer belt and an opulent watch spoke to his economic ascent.
YG’s music evokes nostalgic appreciation of Southern Cali’s Golden Era with today’s innovation of the Left. “BPT,” “I’m From Bompton,” “Bicken Back Being Bool,” “I Just Wanna Party,” “B*tch You Broke,” “My N*gga,” and “Toot It And Boot It” delivered memorial moments.
The natural infusion of skits, live instrumentation, and incorporating other MC’s, like both Chinx and The LOX helped to create enduring memories. Treat yourself make sure to witness YG’s, ‘My Krazy Life Tour.‘
