Young Onassis: Representing The Grind… And The Money

Young Onassis has paid his dues in the music industry: spending 10 years in Los Angeles. The Phoenix, Arizona native can his start engineering at Westlake Recording Studios, eventually getting into producing, songwriting, and now his own artistry.

Having the privilege of working with the likes of Chris Brown and Jeezy, he’s also met the legends such as Nas and Quincy Jones just from being at the studio. Surrounded by greats, Onassis can only excel from here — pouring his heart and soul into each release.

AllHipHop: For those who don’t know, who is Onassis?

Young Onassis: He’s an artist from Phoenix, Arizona. I’m a songwriter, producer. I’m Nigerian, bringing some of that flavor. I’m a real n##ga. I’m a real one. I’m bringing street element, the truth. Bringing back that hustler, grind mentality and spirit, that independent go-getter type of energy.

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize this music thing was forreal?

Young Onassis: I’m going to be honest, it really became real I’d say in 2016 when I put out my project O, that was my first EP that I put out independently. Just what I saw start to happen with putting out music because sometimes as artists, we get stuck in our heads with making music. If you don’t let people hear it, you don’t know how they’re going to respond. There’s a wide audience out there with the internet so your audience might not be your favorite artist, but there’s an audience for you. You just have to put that s##t out. 2016 was when I realized “okay I could do this, I’m out here!”

AllHipHop: Where were you then?

Young Onassis: Actually I was currently in San Diego, transitioning back to LA.

AllHipHop: Talk about producing, songwriting, and now rapping.

Young Onassis: Producing and songwriting, it’s crazy because sometimes you can get stuck in that box. Because you start to be labeled as that and people start seeing you as that, but it’s not a bad thing that they recognize you for your work. It just takes a little bit of effort to be vocal and step out of that lane. It’s been a great process for me. I’ve had a lot of support from my collaborators and anybody I worked with, they’re really on board with me doing my artist thing. I’m still getting the production calls. I’ve got a placement coming up with 600 Breezy on his project, so we out here.

AllHipHop: What was the inspiration behind your name?

Young Onassis: My name actually came from this rich dude named Aristotle Onassis, he was one of the richest men in the world. Also his wife was Jackie Onassis, who was JFK‘s wife. It’s one of those names like Roc-A-Fella, how Jay Z flipped that. It’s one of those powerful American names that people just recognize. Being a young Onassis is literally me saying I want to be a young Onassis: a young baller, a young boss, a young made man. It plays into everything: that entrepreneur, that grind, that young Onassis.

AllHipHop: Your flow on “Rolls Royce Umbrella” is aggressive and fast. When did you realize you could rap like that?

Young Onassis: Honestly, since I was a kid. Any music I was growing up listening to and studying was Twista to Chamillionaire to Bone Thugs. s##t like Jay Z, Mobb Deep, Snoop, just that Southern energy. It naturally came. It’s pretty interesting because I’m a writer, I can be very diverse as well. As I continue to release music, fans will get to hear some of my other styles as well.

AllHipHop: Dream collab?

Young Onassis: [Whistles] RIP Michael Jackson, but it definitely would’ve been him. Now in this space in the hip-hop world what I’m liking… because I like the same energy, Meek. I’d love to collab with Meek Mill. To do something with Hov would be crazy. To collab with Roddy Ricch would be dope. I like Roddy because he’s authentic. Very authentic.

AllHipHop: What can we expect next?

Young Onassis: You could expect a music video for “Rolls Royce Umbrella” coming out soon, that’s going to be crazy. More music as well, another single called “Teppanyaki” coming soon.

AllHipHop: You like Japanese food?

Young Onassis: I do love Japanese food. Harajuku, all that.

Nick Cannon Drops Second Diss Track Insulting Eminem

(AllHipHop News) Nick Cannon has followed through on his threat to drop back-to-back diss records at Eminem as the pair’s feud continues to escalate fast.

Nick just dropped a brand new song titled “Pray For Him” featuring The Black Squad, which is another attack on the Detroit-bred rapper’s credibility in hip-hop.

Nick Cannon and Em started beefing again after Nick Made some unflattering comments on T.I.’s “ExpediTIously” podcast in September, suggesting he would prefer to kick the Detroit rapper’s ass instead of battling him.

Eminem finally replied last week on Fat Joe’s song “Lord Above.” Last night, Nick dropped the diss track “The Invitation” featuring Death Row head Suge Knight, Hitman Holla, Charlie Clips, and Prince Eazy.

During that song, Nick calls Eminem out for being gay and also threatens his daughter and family. Eminem has replied via Twitter, with a funny reply.

“U mad bro? Stop lying on my d##k. I never even had a chauffeur, you bougie f##k. “

Despite Nick’s newest attempt to take Eminem’s head off, #ripNickCannon was still trending on Twitter for most of the day today (December 10th).

(AllHipHop News) Cardi B. brought some serious swag to a courtroom in New York today during a hearing for her upcoming trial for ordering the beatdown of Tekashi 6ix9ine’s girlfriend and her sister.

Cardi B. is charged with ordering a group of her friends to beat down a pair of bartenders at Angels Strip Club in Queens.

Jade, who is dating the infamous Tekashi 6ix9ine and her sister Baddie Gi maintain Cardi ordered her posse of goons to attack them inside of the strip club.

The rapper’s crew tossed hookah pipes and bottles at Jade and Baddie Gi because she believed one of them was having an affair with Offset.

Today (December 10th), Cardi entered into court in black dress pants and a white business styled shirt, wrapped in a huge, furry feathery jacket with a train at least 10-feet-long, dragging behind her in court.

The rapper’s appearance was brief, but chaos ensued due to the hundreds of fans outside of the courthouse fighting to catch a glimpse of the superstar.

The judge set another hearing for January 17th, as Cardi prepares to go to trial for misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Just last week, Cardi almost had another dustup with Jade – on social media – after she claimed Offset was DM’ing her because the married rapper missed her.

R. Kelly Too Scared To Fly To Arraignment For Marrying Aaliyah

(AllHipHop News) R. Kelly will appear in court in Brooklyn, New York via video on a new bribery charge.

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Brooklyn pushed for federal Judge Ann Donnelly to require Kelly to appear in person for the December 18 arraignment relating to his illicit 1994 marriage to the late singer Aaliyah.

The “Ignition” hitmaker is alleged to have paid off a government employee to get the then-15-year-old a fake ID.

However, as he has a well-publicized fear of flying, Donnelly granted Kelly’s attorneys’ request to have the embattled singer appear via video link to enter a plea on the new charge.

Kelly’s marriage to Aaliyah reportedly ended just a few days after they wed, when Aaliyah’s parents found out about the union and forced her to have it expunged.

She was 15 and he was 27 at the time.

Aaliyah, who hailed from Brooklyn, refused to comment publicly on the marriage before her 2001 death in a plane crash.

Meanwhile, prosecutors in Chicago, Illinois, where the “I Believe I Can Fly” star stands accused of sexually assaulting four females, including three who were reportedly underage, over the span of more than a decade, have argued that the marriage was proof that he is a “prolific” abuser of young girls.

“Far from being a one-time mistake, defendant’s sexual abuse of minors was intentional and prolific,” prosecutors wrote in September.

Kelly’s first Chicago sex abuse trial is set for September 2020. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Juice Wrld May Swallowed Drugs Purposely To Avoid Feds

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Juice Wrld may have caused his own death in order to hide evidence from investigators.

According to reports, the 21-year-old rapper swallowed multiple Percocet pills because police were awaiting his private jet at Midway Airport in Chicago.

The Feds had been investigating the “Lucid Dreams” rapper since November.

On Sunday (December 8th), federal agents and city police officers were waiting for Juice Wrld’s aircraft when it landed, after being tipped off that a private plane traveling from Los Angeles to Midway with guns and drugs.

During the search of luggage carts loaded with bags from the plane, a sniffer dog made a “positive alert,” at which point officers found numerous bags of suspected marijuana.

They also found bottles of prescription cough syrup, three guns, metal-piercing bullets, and a “high-capacity ammunition magazine.”

During the search, the rap star, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, suffered what appears to be “some type of medical emergency.”

It was during the search that the rapper, real name Jarad Higgins, started going into convulsions. After his girlfriend said he’d been taking Percocet, an opioid painkiller, one of the agents administered Narcan in a bid to revive the star.

According to the Chicago Tribute, the musician woke up briefly but was incoherent. He was later pronounced dead at the nearby Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at around 3:15 am on Sunday morning.

Police have yet to confirm or deny reports that the rapper swallowed a host of Percocet tablets in a bid to hide them from officers and agents conducting the search.

An autopsy on the rapper’s body was completed on Monday, but additional testing was ordered. The results have yet to be announced.

EXCLUSIVE: Prosecutors Demand Judge Deny R. Kelly’s Attempt To Dismiss Manager From Sex Crime Conspiracy

(AllHipHop News) R. Kelly suffered another legal setback when a motion to dismiss his business manager from a Federal indictment was challenged by prosecutors.

R. Kelly’s business director Derrel McDavid was one of several associates of the disgraced singer who was charged in a thirteen-count indictment containing charges of various types of child exploitation and obstruction of justice.

Specifically, McDavid is implicated for assisting R. Kelly in covering up numerous crimes by hunting down videotapes the singer recorded of himself, having sexual intercourse with a number of underaged girls.

Most shockingly, Derrel McDavid is indicted for being the point-man who funneled money to the victims, including $250,000 to the family of the niece of R&B singer Sparkle.

The child was allegedly the underaged teen on an infamous sex tape showcasing R. Kelly urinating on a young girl, who was reportedly 12-years-old at the time.

Sparkle testified against R. Kelly during his 2008 trial and outspokenness helped fan outrage after she was featured telling her story in the documentary “Surviving R. Kelly.”

Unfortunately, R. Kelly was acquitted of 18 charges after his trial in 2008, because no one could identify the teenager or the “original” copy of the videotape.

But the Feds say the acquittal was a part of an intimidation campaign waged by R. Kelly and Derrel McDavid, who helped the crooner hide his sex crimes.

In fact, between 2001 and 2009, R. Kelly, McDavid and others shelled out hundreds of thousands of dollars for the return of missing sex tapes of R. Kelly with various underaged girls.

In a court filing, R. Kelly and McDavid argued the Feds would be unable to prove they engaged in a conspiracy at trial. They also claimed the statute of limitations had run out to even charge them with a crime.

A judge has weighed in and found that both R. Kelly and Derrel McDavid committed crimes as late as 2015, also puts them within a five-year statute of limitations for “hush-money payments,” including a $100,000 payment to a victim in December of 2015.

“In other words, and as relevant for the motion to dismiss, the indictment alleges that, as late as December 2015, Kelly paid McDavid so that McDavid would conceal the existence of videotapes that showed Kelly sexually abusing a young girl,” said lead U.S. Prosecutor John R. Lausch Jr.

“Because the indictment properly alleges a conspiracy, and because the indictment alleges that overt acts in furtherance of the conspiracy were committed within the last five years, the motion to dismiss should be denied,” John R. Lausch Jr. wrote to the Honorable Harry D. Leinenweber.

Young Punks Caught Vandalizing Nipsey Hussle Mural

(AllHipHop News) Nipsey Hussle’s legacy will remain with us until eternity.

Most recently, however, a bright, vibrant mural of Nipsey at Sneakertopia was vandalized and damaged by a few children.

The sneaker and street art exhibit is located at 6081 Center Drive in Los Angeles, California.

Sources at Sneakertopia reveal a group of 6 adults and 9 children came to visit the sneaker museum this week but apparently were not on their best behavior.

Security footage obtained by TMZ reveals one child jumping onto the ledge located right in front of the Nipsey painting, proceeding to stick a sticker that reads “Frugal” on one of Nipsey’s eyes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taCqO0Uhor8

He even slapped it a few times to make sure it stuck how he wanted it to.

A few moments later, another child follows suit and sticks another sticker to Nipsey’s other eye before running off.

The clique even posed for photos with the stickers in plain sight.

A little while later, another tiny vandal — equipped with his own sticker — does the same thing to Nip’s other eye and then runs off.

Even more brazen … the crew poses for pics in front of the mural with stickers in plain view.

After the staff tried to remove the stickers, it seems some of the paint came with it. Now, Nipsey’s face is left with blemishes.

The mural itself is valued at a number between $10K and $15K. The artist is currently trying to fix the piece, focusing on bringing the eyes back to life.

A Conversation With Photographer Chuck Anderson On Shooting Lupe Fiasco’s Iconic ‘Food & Liquor’ Album Cover

(AllHipHop Features) NoPattern studio head Chuck Anderson was among the 2,500 excited souls that piled into Chicago’s Riviera Theatre on November 21. It was a special event dedicated to one of the greatest debut studio LPs in Hip Hop history. Grammy-winning emcee Lupe Fiasco was headlining the Red Bull Music Festival Chicago concert that night. The 37-year-old wordsmith performed Food & Liquor in its entirety in his home city for the first time ever.

Local recording acts Kidd Kenn and Two Depressed Kids warmed up the crowd. Then Lupe presented a full-on artistic experience with a live band and back-up singers stationed on a scaffold-filled stage. The man born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco donned a red #15 Bulls jersey as an homage to Chicago, Red Bull, and the 1st & 15th label that helped make him one of the most leading-edge lyricists of the 21st Century.

Anderson was not in the venue that evening as just another Fiasco fan. The Chicago-based visual artist was celebrating the performance as a personal win as well. As the photographer who shot the Food & Liquor album cover, Anderson assisted Lupe in creating the mental image many listeners dream up when they hear songs such as “I Gotcha,” “Hurt Me Soul,” and “Kick, Push.”

Food & Liquor turned 13 years old in 2019. Going by the reaction of the Red Bull Music Festival Chicago audience, the project aged just as well as other 2006 gems like Alfonso Cuarón’s Children of Men and Peter Berg’s Friday Night Lights. Now that Lupe Fiasco’s magnum opus has reached its teenage years, AllHipHop caught up with Chuck Anderson to get his current thoughts on the image connected to the undeniable classic body of work.

AllHipHop: How did you first meet Lupe?

Chuck Anderson: I actually met Lupe before Food & Liquor for a different project. I was asked by a magazine based in New York to shoot photos of him. We had a mutual friend who ran that magazine. This was like a full year before Food & Liquor came out. He was still pretty off the radar outside of Chicago. The guy asked if I would meet up with Lupe, so Lupe and I met at a store in Chicago called Saint Alfred which is like a streetwear clothing shop. I took photos of him there, and that’s where he and I first met.

AllHipHop: Lupe has talked about how the Food & Liquor cover was inspired by Domu, the Japenese manga. Did you personally draw any inspiration from any other works?

Chuck Anderson: My career and my whole art design practice for NoPattern got started around 2004. I’d been doing a lot of work that kind of looked like that at the time. That’s how I was making a name for myself. I was getting a lot of attention for that light-streak kind of stuff. If you go on my website, you can click on the archives and go way back to 2004, 2005, 2006. I was doing a lot of stuff that looks like that. So when Lupe came to me, it was really kind of an open-ended style. But he knew he wanted glowing lights, colored kind of stuff. I don’t really know, to this day, where that effect came from. It was a lot of experimenting. I’m 34 now. I didn’t go to college. I started my career right out of high school, so it’s been 16 years that I’ve been doing that sort of stuff. So it was natural for me to gravitate toward that look and feel at the time. I just merged what I was doing personally with Lupe’s vision for the album that came from his own ideas and the anime artwork that he was interested in at the time.

AllHipHop: Was it Lupe’s idea to avoid literal references to food and liquor?

Chuck Anderson: Yeah, he wanted it to be more subversive and more subtle. The inside of the album is so different. I didn’t work on anything on the inside of the album – the photography of the students with guns and books. That’s what was so interesting about the album. The outside and the inside were two different things. They almost didn’t look like part of the same project. I always thought that was interesting. I feel like if you thought, “Okay, this dude’s calling it Food & Liquor. What’s the cover going to be? It might be a photo of him in front of a Food & Liquor corner store.” But the album had such different meanings to him. It was this good and evil [concept]. It was interesting that there is no food or no liquor on the cover. He wanted to do something that wasn’t so literal. I always appreciated that.

AllHipHop: I personally feel like the front cover is a classic without question, but I feel like not enough attention was given to the image on the back of the booklet. Can you talk about the idea around that particular image of him with the sword?

Chuck Anderson: I think people don’t really see that because it’s the inside booklet of a CD, so you only see it if you own that CD and take it out. He basically just brought a bunch of his stuff to this photoshoot, and he wanted photos of himself holding that sword. That sword was something he owned and seemed to really value. That was at the end of the day. We had already finished the shoot for the album cover, and he was standing there with the sword and wanted to get some photos. So I took pictures of him pointing the sword at the camera. When I was coming up with different ideas of what might go there, I just pulled that photo and took a lot of the style elements from the cover and put them around him.

AllHipHop: I don’t know if it was intentional, but when I first saw that image with your colorful lighting aesthetic around him it made me think of Dragon Ball Z when Goku goes Super Saiyan.

Chuck Anderson: You know what’s funny? I know nothing about anime. I know what Dragon Ball Z is, but I couldn’t tell you anything about it. But I do know those light-streaks are kind of a photographic interpretation of a lot of the aesthetics that’s in anime. That’s definitely intentional, and it came from Lupe’s mind.

AllHipHop: Did you happen to see the Marvel [Black Knight] variant cover?

Chuck Anderson: Yeah, I did see that, but I hadn’t looked at it in a while… Yeah, that’s so cool. It’s funny how many different variations there have been, people doing their own interpretation of the cover. It’s kind of crazy when you see the illustration that he was inspired by originally and how it came to life. It’s sort of an iconic thing that I did. I don’t even think I knew what I was getting into at the time. There’s so much about that I was unfamiliar with. I just tried to be a good listener, just really listen to what Lupe was looking for and bring it to life.

AllHipHop: Have you reflected on the fact that you’ve created this iconic image?

Chuck Anderson: Yeah, especially over the last week. I went to the [Red Bull Music Festival Chicago] show. They brought the album cover to life with the lighting on the stage. It was really cool to see it all come alive. I’ve done a lot of reflecting on it a lot of times over the years. It’s been 13 years since it came out, but it’s been almost 14 years since I first worked on it. It just keeps coming up in my career over and over again. I’ve done a lot of work in my career. If you look at my portfolio, one thing I pride myself on is I’ve been very prolific. I’ve made a lot of stuff. But nothing comes up quite like the Food & Liquor cover. Whenever I do interviews or I speak or anytime anyone wants to talk about my work, that comes up. And it’s so funny because I haven’t actually done a lot of album covers in my career. I think this is the only Hip Hop one I’ve done. I’ve worked with some Punk bands and more mainstream stuff, but this keeps popping up. It tells me this album means a lot to people. It’s really cool to be apart of it.

AllHipHop: Do you remember the first time you saw the final image in the CD package?

Chuck Anderson: Yeah, I went to Best Buy and I bought it. I remember sending all the artwork over. I remember the day it came out. I drove to Best Buy and bought two copies.

AllHipHop: So you have a book out now?

Chuck Anderson: Yeah, I just put a new book out of some work that I’ve been doing this past year called Crash Report. It’s part of a new collection I put out and the relaunching of my online store. I used to have an online store from 2004 to 2012. Then I went on hiatus for a little bit. I just brought it back. So yeah, that’s the most recent project I’ve been doing personally.

Common Holds Concert & Roundtable Conversation At California Prison

(AllHipHop News) Hip Hop artist Common (born Lonnie Rashid Lynn) partnered with the REPRESENT JUSTICE Campaign to present a concert and roundtable conversation between incarcerated individuals. The event took place at the California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) in Norco.

“I do my best to use my platform to support the people who need a voice in the world,” said Common. “I’ve met some of the most incredible men and women in prison and I continue to work for criminal justice reforms. I’m proud to stand with REPRESENT JUSTICE on this important work.”

Common, a Grammy and Oscar-winning musician, was joined by recording artist Bobby Gonz. The REPRESENT JUSTICE Campaign ambassador was sentenced to life in prison at 16 years old before receiving a commutation.

“Music was how I expressed my thoughts and feelings about being thrown away by the system. Writing songs is how I endured my reality as a lifer, which then led me to encourage others to finally open up and do the same,” said Gonz.

He continued, “In a place where only the strong survive, we came together through vulnerability and compassion and learned how true strength is only found when we embrace what we consider our weaknesses. I’m humbled to participate in the Campaign and perform with Common and to share my story with my brothers inside the California Rehabilitation Center.”

Common’s performance is one of REPRESENT JUSTICE Campaign’s initiatives that are established to engage audiences and spark collective action to demand a fair legal system, dignity for system-impacted communities, and an end to extreme sentencing. Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) and Imagine Justice also worked with the Campaign for the special event at the CRC.

“This concert, and many of the REPRESENT JUSTICE efforts in California, would not have been possible without the partnership and support of California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation,” stated Scott Budnick, founder and CEO of One Community and ARC. “We are working with many systems throughout the country on arts and culture programs inside prisons, and California leads the way on prioritizing rehabilitation and leading with hope.”

“We are grateful for artists like Common who use their platform to unapologetically take a stand for a justice system rooted in dignity,” added Sam Lewis, Executive Director of ARC. “It is a deeply moving experience for incarcerated people to hear first-hand from allies like Common, who they can count on to affirm their humanity when few other people will. That’s the first step to transformational change.”

50 Cent Slams Nick Cannon Over Eminem Diss Track; Cannon Implies 50 Is An Uncle Tom

(AllHipHop News) Who didn’t see this coming? Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has jumped into the ongoing Nick Cannon versus Eminem beef. After Em responded to Cannon’s “The Invitation” diss track on Twitter, 50 took to Instagram to offer Nick a warning.

“I don’t understand to save my life why someone would pick a fight with EM. He is a different kinda animal, I haven’t seen a motherf*cker come close to beating him man. hey Nick that sh*t was trash, I oughta kick you in yo ass when I see you PUNK!” wrote Fiddy on IG.

Cannon quickly shot back by suggesting 50 Cent is an Uncle Tom for supporting Eminem. The host of Wild ‘N Out and The Masked Singer posted a picture on Instagram of Samuel L. Jackson’s controversial “house slave” character from the movie Django Unchained. The IG caption simply read, “@50Cent .”

https://www.instagram.com/p/B55D-ZpnvOahttps://www.instagram.com/p/B55MESphkTl

50 Cent has credited Eminem as one of the people that helped launch his career to mainstream status. The Queens rapper signed to Em’s Shady Records in 2002.  His breakout hit, “Wanksta,” was a single on the 8 Mile soundtrack which was released under Shady Records.

The Em and 50 tag team is not a new concept. Along with Busta Rhymes, they united up to take out Ja Rule with the “Hail Mary” diss record in 2003. 50 Cent was engaged in a violent rivalry with Ja, Irv Gotti, and Murder Inc Records for years.

Eminem’s feud with Nick Cannon goes back over a decade. Em has insisted he once dated Cannon’s now ex-wife Mariah Carey, but the Grammy winner denied ever going out with the Detroit-bred emcee.

The two megastars released numerous songs aimed at the other. On 2009’s “Bagpipes from Baghdad” off the Relapse album, Em had several lines about Mariah. He also rapped, “Nick Cannon better back the f*ck up I’m not playing. I want her back, you punk.”

Carey then sent obvious subliminal shots at Eminem on her Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel single “Obsessed” in 2009. One month later, Em dropped the Dr. Dre-produced “The Warning” which again slammed Mariah Carey and her then-husband Nick Cannon.

Juice WRLD’s Plane Reportedly Searched By Federal Agents Weeks Before His Death

(AllHipHop News) Details surrounding Jarad “Juice WRLD” Higgins’ death continue to trickle out. The “Lucid Dreams” performer died of an apparent drug overdose on December 8 after a flight from Los Angeles to Chicago.

There have been reports that FBI and Homeland Security officials found three handguns and 70 lbs of marijuana on the private jet Juice was traveling on that day. Additionally, he allegedly swallowed several Percocet pills on the plane in an attempt to hide them from officers.

TMZ is also reporting that federal agents have been monitoring Higgins and his team for nearly a month. The Chicago-born rapper and his entourage allegedly underwent a search by Custom agents’ drug-sniffing dogs at LAX airport on November 18.

It is not clear if anything illegal was found on the airplane at that time, and Juice WRLD was supposedly able to travel to Sydney, Australia. There is unsubstantiated speculation that the November incident may have led to an FBI task force awaiting Juice at Midway in Chicago on Sunday.

According to USA Today, the initial autopsy of Juice WRLD was inconclusive. Official spokeswoman Natalia Derevyanny said, “The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined that additional studies are required to establish the cause and manner of death for 21-year-old Jarad A. Higgins.”

(AllHipHop News) It’s not just the Holiday season. It’s also officially Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye season. Canada’s Pop/R&B superstar once again has the #1 song in the United States with “Heartless.”

The Weeknd now has four career Number Ones on Billboard‘s Hot 100. He is only one of nine acts to have at least four No. 1 hits on the chart in the 2010s. Rihanna scored the most chart-toppers (9) during that time period.

In addition, Abel has the #11 song on the Hot 100 with “Blinding Lights.” Both “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights” are #1 and #2 on the Digital Song Sales chart and the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart, respectively.

Last week, The Weeknd performed “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights” back-to-back nights on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Plus, he is preparing to make his big-screen debut when directors Josh and Benny Safdie’s Uncut Gems arrives in select theaters on December 13.

As “Heartless” leads the Hot 100 and “Blinding Lights” competes for the Top 10, The Weeknd may have to give up the pole position in the coming weeks to a legendary diva. Mariah Carey’s yearly smash “All I Want for Christmas Is You” rose 15 spots to #3 this week and already sits atop the Streaming Songs chart.

Eminem Responds To Nick Cannon’s “The Invitation” Diss Track

(AllHipHop News) Things have escalated quickly between Nick Cannon and Eminem. After Cannon talked about once wanting to whoop Em’s ass over his ex-wife Mariah Carey during a September interview on T.I.’s ExpediTIously podcast, Eminem fired back last week with bars directed at Nick on Fat Joe’s “Lord Above” song.

The Wild ‘N Out host then dropped a diss track titled “The Invitation” featuring incarcerated former Death Row head Suge Knight, Hitman Holla, Charlie Clips, and Prince Eazy. At one point, Cannon rapped, “I heard your chauffeur got a video of you sucking a c###. You paid him off, then laid him off, now who really the opp?”

Eminem did not answer with a record of his own. Instead, he tweeted, “U mad bro? Stop lying on my d*ck. I never even had a chauffeur, you bougie f*ck. .” The Shady Records leader also added, “I demand an apology Nicholas, you’ve made my gardener so jealous!”

Nick Cannon responded on Twitter and Instagram. The actor/rapper tweeted, “Only a few hours left Marshall…. .” He also made it clear he will not say sorry to Eminem. Cannon wrote, “F*ck Apologies! Pull Up!! Bring your gardener, chauffeur, your male nurse and whoever else you’re f*cking!! .”

Over on Instagram, Cannon challenged Eminem to come on Wild ‘N Out and apparently take part in the show’s Wildstyle freestyle rap battle. However, a lot of Twitter users seem to be siding with Em. The satirical #RIPNickCannon became the #1 trending topic on the social media platform on Tuesday morning.

Tyler, The Creator Headlining First Festival Performances In The U.K. Since 2015 Ban

(AllHipHop News) Tyler, The Creator is heading to the U.K. in 2020 as the headline act for both the Lovebox and Parklife festivals.

The shows will be the rapper’s first U.K. festival appearances since he was banned from entering the country in 2015 by then-Home Secretary Theresa May because of claims his lyrics encouraged “violence and intolerance of homosexuality.”

The “EARFQUAKE” singer will play at Manchester’s Parklife on June 13 before closing Lovebox the following evening in London’s Gunnersbury Park.

In 2015 he was forced to pull out of Reading and Leeds festivals because he was denied entry to the country.

However, he made his official return to the U.K. back in May, popping up outside Buckingham Palace to announce a surprise performance of his latest album IGOR, which is nominated for best rap album at the Grammys.

The gig at the Bussey building in Peckham was later canceled by the police after hordes of “rowdy” fans attempted to climb the gate outside the venue.

He returned to the capital four months later to play two sold-out gigs in Brixton, south London, which went ahead without incident.

The 2020 Lovebox festival has been extended to three nights instead of two for the first time and has been moved forward from its usual mid-July slot, to June 12th.

The rest of the line-up will be announced in the coming weeks.

Rockie Fresh On His “Destination” & Working With Chris Brown

After a string of mixtapes, Rockie Fresh has finally unleashed his debut studio album titled Destination. The Chicago native splits his time between Los Angeles and The Chi, but it was his initial move to LA where he met Casey Veggies that his rap career took off. Together, they unleashed Fresh Veggies, one of the greatest joint projects in hip-hop to date.

Fast forward to 2019, Rockie continues to do what he loves, which is make music.

Destination is a 12-track project laced with features from Chris Brown, 24Hrs, Casey Veggies, and Arin Ray, giving fans a diverse plate of sounds and styles to vibe to.

AllHipHop: Congrats on Destination! How has the fan reception been?

Rockie Fresh: Thank you. It’s been dope, the fans really been rocking with it. People didn’t expect me to come out with no album anytime soon. Because I’ve been holding out on music for a while trying to get the right situation for it and also just perfecting it. I switched labels. I was with Atlantic when I first started the project, now I’m with Rostrom. Interchanging situations and getting new inspiration, had to just improve the music. But it all worked out for the better.

AllHipHop: What happened with Atlantic?

Rockie Fresh: It was just I honored the time of my contract, then I was able to bust some new moves. Rostrom gave me a really cool situation that granted me a little bit more ownership of my own stuff. That’s really it. I still got love for my Atlantic fam though, shout out my boy Dallas and all them for holding it down.

AllHipHop: What was the significance in the title Destination?

Rockie Fresh: It’s just the point of arrival. It’s technically my first album, I put out probably 11 mixtapes getting to this point. It’s the arriving point of people getting a higher quality of music from me in a way that’s a lot more accessible than it used to be. Most of my projects are on Datpiff and SoundCloud, this is the first one that’s been officially debuted on the streaming services. I just want to continue that run for them.

AllHipHop: What is your end destination?

Rockie Fresh: My end destination is hopefully my fern for generations to come can be successful and have an easier life based off the things that I’ve obtained from doing the music. That’s really it, I want to leave that legacy for my people to where my daughter’s kids and their kids can benefit from the things I did while I was here.

AllHipHop: Best part of teaming up with Chris Brown on “Must Be”?

Rockie Fresh: The best part about that was basically making a dream come true really. I’ve always been a huge fan of Chris since he first came out. When I first started making music, he’s always somebody that I wanted to work with. To be able to collaborate with him as much as we have, it’s a dream come true for me. Every time I see that record, it shows that hard work paid off.

AllHipHop: Has he given you any advice?

Rockie Fresh: Oh yeah Chris gives me a ton of advice, he teaches me a lot. He leads a lot well too by example, more than people give him credit for. He gave me a lot of advice, even with the music. You see with him, he’s dropping 40 song albums because he never stops working. That’s one big thing I learned from him: to stay recording, stay ready, and keep the music on deck.

AllHipHop: Who are your top artists in rotation?

Rockie Fresh: Really the homies. Because at the end of the day, I’m working so much on my own stuff. I watch more interviews from artists. I respect the story behind the place that they got. I rock with all artists, and it makes me respect them more when I watch their interviews. But with the music, I’m so busy with my own s##t that I haven’t super dove into nobody’s project in a minute.

AllHipHop: What are some interviews you’ve seen recently?

Rockie Fresh: I just watched a couple Tory Lanez interviews. Tory’s my boy so everything that he talks about in his interviews is super dope. I rock with his interviews. Who else I watched? I mean, you have to give a shout out to DaBaby. He doing his thing right now. He’s got his presence in the game. I watch a lot of underground s##t too. There’s a real famous Chicago interviewer named ZachTV, he used to do a lot of up and coming chicago music like Chief Keef, Lil Durk, s##t like that. But he passed away, he got killed in Chicago so there’s been some new guys taking over what he’s doing. I be tapped in to the up and coming artists because one day, I want to sign somebody soon.

AllHipHop: What do you look for in an artist you want to sign?

Rockie Fresh: Someone who has a lot of creativity, in a sense they know where they want to go with their videos, with their sound, with their flow. If they’re a singer, with their vocals. Something that’s real distinct. I’m real big on fashion, so I like the kind of artist that has a dope style about ‘em. So many things.

EXCLUSIVE: Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods Gunman Appeals 20 Year Sentence After 6ix9ine Snitching

(AllHipHop News) A feared gang member is planning to appeal a lengthy prison sentence he received last week in a RICO trial against Tekashi 6ix9ine and the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

AllHipHop has confirmed Aaron “Bat” Young’s lawyer Aaron Mysliwiec is appealing the 20-year-sentence his client received on December 2nd, when he was sentenced for one count of racketeering conspiracy.

Aaron Young handed the stiffest sentence of anyone in the RICO case, due to his attempt to kill a fellow gang member named Snow Billy, by shooting him in the neck at point-blank range in January of 2019.

Aaron Young pleaded with Judge Paul Englemayer for mercy due to his tough upbringing and his low IQ, which his lawyer said allowed other gang members to take advantage of him.

But Judge Englemayer ruled there was no hope to rehab Aaron Young, and he threw the book at the gangster, who also was accused of distributing over 80 kilos of heroin around New York.

In addition to Aaron “Bat” Young, Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, Roland “Ro Murda” Martin, Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack have filed appeals of their prison sentences.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, who was a cooperating star witness for the government in the RICO trial, is slated to receive a reduced sentenced on December 18th.
