(AllHipHop News) Lizzo isn’t short of offers from men wanting to date her, but admits she “doesn’t trust” those who have waited until she’s famous before approaching her.
The “Truth Hurts” rapper has gone from relative unknown to household name within a matter of months, thanks to her musical talents and down-to-earth nature.
Her rise to fame has been accompanied by a host of people wanting to grab onto her coattails, especially men, but the 31-year-old refuses to be drawn in by them – insisting she’s looking for someone who loves her for her, not her celebrity status.
“No one tried to holler at me before all this s##t, so if you’re trying to holler at me now, I don’t trust it,” she said. “There’s gotta be something real about you, or you gotta be fine as hell, either or.
“I definitely understand more and more why famous people be f##king, because it’s such an interesting world. I think it’s hard to understand what it’s like to have a connection with somebody outside of all of this s##t. Famous people connect with millions of people at a time and everybody is in love with them and everybody wants you and everybody wanna smash and everybody wanna be your best friend, so it’s really hard to kind of cipher through the bulls##t and find the real people.”
Lizzo added that some men try their luck by sliding into her Instagram DMs, but warned hopeful suitors that the method is usually unsuccessful when it comes to securing a date with her.
“My DMs are more poppin’ than my p##sy, I’ll tell you that much,” she laughed. “This guy tried to holler at me at the bar last night and for some odd reason, I just wasn’t feeling it. I don’t know what it is now, but you can’t just be like, ‘You ordering all those drinks by yourself? I’ll help you carry those drinks. Excuse me.’ Like, I feel like I need something else.”
(AllHipHop News) Rapper Future is demanding a judge issue a gag order to prevent the woman alleging she is the mother of his sixth child from speaking out about him publicly.
According to court reports, the star, born Nayvadius Wilburn, is taking legal action against Florida-based Eliza Seraphin.
The “Mask Off” hitmaker has accused the woman of damaging his name.
She’s been on social media making a number of crazy allegations, including claims he wanted to hire a hitman to kill her when she was pregnant with the child.
Eliza Reign claimed the chart-topping rapper was p##### off she refused to get it and so he supposedly put a “bag on her head.”
Future dismissed the claims shortly after Eliza began calling him out.
“It’s an evil world we live in but hey I’ma keep living,” Future said during a post on his IG story feed that many felt what’s the dressing at Eliza Reign’s sordid allegations.
Eliza Reign is seeking child support for her four-month-old baby, who was born on April 19.
A judge has yet to rule on Future’s plea.
The 35-year-old already has five children with five different women, including five-year-old Future Zahir Wilburn, the son he shares with ex-fiancee Ciara.
(AllHipHop News)State of the Culture is getting a new panelist. Beginning September 9, former Fox News Channel personality Eboni K. Williams will sit beside Joe Budden, Remy Ma, and Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins on the weekly Revolt talk show.
“I’m excited to join this dynamic team and bring my unique viewpoint on social justice, culture, and entertainment to Revolt,” stated Williams. “I stay ready to tackle tough topics! My goal is to help advance the dialogue with the expertise I’ve acquired as an attorney and national TV host.”
State of the Culture host Joe Budden said, “I’m looking forward to hearing Eboni add a new point-of-view on SOTC. I am excited and eager for her to join the team and get to the sh*ts.”
Originally, Scottie Beam of the Black Girl Podcast was the fourth commentator on the initial run of the show. She announced her departure from State Of The Culture in May.
“It’s been an amazing ride at Revolt’s State Of The Culture. I’ve learned so much and grew an everlasting love for my cohosts and main host [Joe Budden],” wrote Beam on Instagram. “I have decided to not continue with State Of The Culture. I have to honor my spirit and with that comes living my truth and freedom. I want to be happy. I love y’all for always riding. Please remember to always speak power into truth and nothing else. Love each other. Uplift each other.”
(AllHipHop News) Footage of French Montana went viral this week. The Bronx representative was filmed yelling at his bodyguard in New York City following the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards.
“Go over there! Go there, n*gga! Be security, n*gga!” yelled French while on an NYC street. The “Unforgettable” hitmaker then struck the phone of the person that was videotaping the exchange and heckling him about it.
The collective internet wanted to know what caused French Montana to spaz out on his own team member. During an interview with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez, French was asked about the awkward encounter that spread across the web.
“We had went to the strip club, then after the strip club, on our way, we stopped to get some chopped cheese,” said the 34-year-old Coke Boys leader. “My boys just started arguing, the next thing, I turn around, they started fighting. My security is in the car asleep. I don’t blame him, though. But that’s why I was yelling. I shouldn’t be the one breaking up a fight. It was only us. It wasn’t no outside people.”
He added, “I’m a gangsta rapper. That means sh*t gonna happen. Things just gonna happen. If I see two of my friends fighting, what you think, I’m not going to go break up the fight because I’m worried about what anybody thinks? They could end up stabbing each other, shooting each other… Two of my friends fighting, I had to break it up.”
(AllHipHop News)Billboard may have argued Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road”did not have enough elements of modern Country music to be eligible for its Hot Country Songs chart. However, the Country Music Association Awards nominated the remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus.
“Old Town Road” is competing for Music Event Of The Year against “All My Favorite People” by Maren Morris featuring Brothers Osborne, “Brand New Man” by Brooks & Dunn with Luke Combs, “Dive Bar” by Garth Brooks & Blake Shelton, and “What Happens In A Small Town” by Brantley Gilbert & Lindsay Ell.
“Thank you guys for this nomination!!” tweeted Lil Nas on Wednesday. The CMAs’ embrace of the Atlanta rhymer’s breakout smash comes months after the track peaked at #19 on the Hot Country Songs chart before being removed.
“Old Town Road” was able to make it onto Billboard‘s Country Airplay chart in April. It also spent a record-breaking 19 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 chart. Additionally, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ single led the Streaming Songs, Digital Song Sales, Hot Rap Songs, and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts at one point.
(AllHipHop News) It’s only been 15 months since Pusha T released his critically-acclaimed Daytona, but the G.O.O.D. Music president is already back in album mode. King Push recently dropped a new song titled “Coming Home” featuring Lauryn Hill.
Ebro Darden caught up with Pusha for Apple Music’s Beats 1. The Clipse member from Virginia talked about working with the legendary Ms. Hill on the record which was produced by Kanye West and Mike Dean.
“I just made the request. She expressed that she likes my music, and she’d see about it. I definitely followed the queen around,” Pusha explained. “Whatever it took, and it was super important to me when she showed interest. It was just super important to me to definitely have her on it. Lauryn, her discography, it means everything. It’s insane, so this wasn’t about ever rushing or being on a time limit. It was just about getting the song done right and to both of our liking.”
He also stated, “This record speaks to mass incarceration. It speaks to just giving hope to those who are coming home and telling people who are locked up and behind the wall that we’re waiting on them and we’re going to be out here as a support system when they get home.”
According to Push, nine songs for his fourth studio LP are ready to go at the moment. One of the potential tracks on the forthcoming project will likely be “Sociopath” featuring Detroit’s Kash Doll.
“I had the ‘Sociopath’ record for a minute. I wanted a female on the record who I felt could really execute how I wanted her to execute, execute really sharp. Kash Doll, to me, represents an era of female Hip Hop in which the lyricism is top-notch, it’s super sharp, it’s competitive with the guys,” said Pusha. “And she represents that to me, so I thought she would execute, and she definitely did.
Plus, Pusha T announced he has joined forces with Brittany K. Barnett’s Buried Alive Project and MiAngel Cody’s The Decarceration Collective to launch the “Third Strike Coming Home Campaign.” The 42-year-old emcee/executive donated $25,000 to the initiative. He plans to support Barnett and Cody’s efforts to hire more lawyers to fight for individuals dealing with life sentences for federal drug crimes.
(AllHipHop News) Rich The Kid earned a double-platinum plaque for the 2017 single “New Freezer” off his debut album The World Is Yours. The song’s success was due in part to the viral #NewFreezerChallenge as well as a standout feature from Kendrick Lamar.
Apparently, Lamar was not the only rapper to rhyme over the Ben Jayne-produced beat. A$AP Ferg told a story on DJ Whoo Kid’s show about how Rich allegedly removed him and other artists from the song before Kendrick agreed to appear on the final version.
“I did ‘New Freezer.’ That was my song. Ben came through and we did that song together. It was me, Rich The Kid, and a few other n*ggas… MadeinTYO,” said Ferg. “This n*gga ended up playing it for f*cking, I think, Jaden Smith, Kendrick Lamar, all these other n*ggas. Kendrick was like, ‘I’ll get on it as long as everybody else comes off of it.'”
Even though he was left off the track, the Harlemite was happy fellow NYC-born rapper, Rich The Kid, rose in the industry as a result of his first Billboard Hot 100 hit. Ferg added, “To see what ‘New Freezer’ did and it took him to a whole other level. He got a [publishing] deal, got an artist deal, a label deal, living in an L.A. house, everything, off a song and being around.”
In a February 2019 interview with AllHipHop, Jean Nelson of The Blueprint Music Group management company spoke about how his client Rich The Kid and Top Dawg Entertainment emcee Kendrick Lamar connected for “New Freezer.” His version of the tune’s creation centered around RTK requesting K. Dot for the collaboration.
“[Rich] came in with that song, sat with us, and just played us the record ‘New Freezer.’ We were like, ‘This is incredible.’ He was like, ‘I need Kendrick on this,’” recalled Nelson. “With our relationship with TDE, who are great allies and friends of ours, the calls were made and we got it done. Kendrick told him he would do it, and he was a man of his word. We did the record and the video. It was heaven after that.”
Perhaps Cardi’s biggest award show moment came in February at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The Invasion of Privacy creator made history that night by becoming the first solo female rapper to win in the Best Rap Album category.
Invasion of Privacy triumphed at the Grammys over Mac Miller’s Swimming, Pusha T’s Daytona, Travis Scott’s Astroworld, and Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap. While some people – such as Pop singer Ariana Grande – seemed to have a problem with the Recording Academy honoring Cardi, Nipsey celebrated his fellow Atlantic Records artist taking home the golden gramophone.
“WHEN ITS YO TIME… ITS YO TIME! Congrats to @iamcardib on Her Grammy for Best Rap Album & Also being Tha 1st female to Do it! ,” wrote Nipsey Hussle on Instagram. The now-late, LA-based emcee also stated on Big Boy’s Neighborhood, “I seen certain people, even on my timeline, [saying,] ‘Man, you got cheated.’ Nah, we ain’t doing that. That ain’t the convo. That was her time. She got what she deserved.”
Yesterday, Cardi B went to Twitter to reflect on her Invasion of Privacy achievements, including the fact that all of the songs on the project have been certified Gold or Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). One of her tweets also focused on Hussle’s shout out.
“When I won Nipsey said on a comment to me WHEN IS YOUR TIME IS YOUR TIME! Now when I speak to upcoming [artists] or people who ask me for advice I tell them the same thing! WHEN IS YOUR TIME IS YOUR TIME and when it comes don’t let nobody take that special moment away from you!” posted Cardi. That tweet garnered more than 57,000 likes.
On my album I showed different sides of me.From my intro talking about my https://t.co/xSGBV4duiP living my best life inspiring people.Relationship songs while I was going thru my own relationship drama to shaking ass like Bodak & that ASS .Every song went platinum!
I did it all while I was pregnant.Throwing up, drowsy, terrible colds and in a rush to finish it so I can start doing music videos before I started showing .I spend 24 hours for months sleeping on a couch with my pregnant depressed ass in a studio .
I wasn’t even thinking of winning or even the Grammies. All I can think about was …everybody is disappointed in me,am I still going to have a career after this baby ? Is this album going to make me or break me ? I need to finish before I start showing .
All while I just separated from my long time manager.I had to get my husband to talk to my label cause I never had a relationship with them so we all came together to relocate me to Atlanta and Miami to finish my album before my stomach start showing.
When i kept seeing the certifications of the songs going gold or platinum I was so excited cause my husband was out here asking everybody for a feature on my behalf so the ones that said yes thank you from the bottom of my heart cause TRUST ME ALOT OF ARTIST SAID NO!
So when I won a Grammy for it I didn’t have no words to say but when I went home I started reminiscing on what I went thru during that period I was like YEA B#### YOU DESERVE THIS S### !abd until this day my s### still charting .
When I won Nipsey said on a comment to me WHEN IS YOUR TIME IS YOUR TIME! Now when I speak to upcoming artist or people who ask me for advice I tell them the same thing ! WHEN IS YOUR TIME IS YOUR TIME and when it comes don’t let nobody take that special moment away from you !
(AllHipHop News) Hasbro was just announced as the new owners of Death Row Records and they are already facing a lawsuit for using a logo they now own.
A photographer named Elijah Payan filed a lawsuit against Entertainment One over the use of a photo on the company’s Instagram page.
The picture in question features a woman at a mixing board, rocking a Death Row Records 1991 jacket.
The problem is, Entertainment One never received the rights to use the flick, which is being used to hawk a variety of merchandise, including the jacket in the picture.
Interestingly, another person is credited on the post for taking the picture, although Elijah Payan claims to have a copyright for the photo.
Elijah Payan is seeking damages of up to $150,000 in addition to an accounting of all profits income receipts and other benefits derived from posting the picture.
(AllHipHop Rumors) There are beefs everywhere! Dems vs. Republicans! Liberals vs. Dave Chappell! Black people vs. Everybody! And now there is Pusha T vs. J. Cole!
Pusha T got everybody talking as he levied a subdiss to J. Cole…but is it shade or what? Look at this and you tell me:
Personally, I don’t see it as a diss…as it is written. However, we know there is more to this whole thing. First of all, King Push simply says he is speaking to BROTHERS that did NOT go to college like J. Cole. Those dear brothers that did NOT have a silver spoon or a BANKROLL! Those brothers that did what they had to do! They made something out of nothing!
So what- J. Cole went to college? So did I. So did a lot of Black men. No biggie. Oh, but you know this is more than that, family! J. Cole has repeatedly taken shots at Kanye West and he and Pusha T have history. First of all, it hs been stated that “Middle Child” is a Kanye West AND Pusha T diss. Check this out.
(AllHipHop News) Missy Elliott gave a memorable performance during the 2019 VMAs.
Missy will surely cherish the good memories of the show, where she received the Michael Jackson Vanguard Video Award.
She already has one memory to recall – her pricey jewelry which went missing during her show.
According to Missy, her expensive-looking diamond-encrusted necklace went missing backstage.
“ANYONE FOUND THIS NECKLACE AT THE VMAS BACKSTAGE OR KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT THERE’S A REWARD IT’S THE SHORTER ONE,” Missy posted to her Instagram feed.
Missy still seems to be in great spirits following her performance and award.
“Due to issues with the plane I’m sorry to say I won’t be able to make the show in Irvine tonight. Portland I’ll see you Friday – tune,” Lil Wayne tweeted just hours before he was supposed to take the stage.
Fans were p##### over the last-minute announcement, which sparked some backlash on his Twitter account.
This is the third time Lil Wayne has bailed on his performance during the joint tour blink-182.
Dubbed the “Princess of New York,” Lil Keyu is a Florida-bred, New York-raised native who claims she’s a “regular girl who wants to change the world.”
Dedicated to leaving an imprint, her At 19-years-old, Lil Keyu is ready to go full-fledged into this music game.
Her passion and love for music is evidenced in her high-energy records.
Most recently, she unleashed the official music video for “Play Dumb,” which sees Keyu talking her s##t.
While she only recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue her rap dreams even further, she still manages to find time to balance being a single mother and recording artist.
AllHipHop: Your music is a cross between rock & hip-hop. How would you describe your sound?
Lil Keyu: Like an urban rockstar.
AllHipHop: When did you start making music?
Lil Keyu: I’ve always been into music. I started doing this officially not even six or seven months ago.
AllHipHop: At what point did you realize this music thing was forreal?
Lil Keyu: It’s not that I wanted to take forreal because I always did, but I was also a young mom. I’m like “I need something serious because this is not cutting it right now.” I was in that mindset, but then I prayed one night. Two days later, I was hitting up a whole bunch of people who did management. I just kept on and on and on.
Finally I found @abon15, who’s Miguel Solano. He used to do Lil Pump when he first started. He answered me back then read my message of why he should have me.
He just read it, so I sent another long message why he should have me. Don’t read and leave me on seen! I’m gonna fight for this, this is something that I want and this is why. This is not for no reason, this is not for fun and games. I really wanna go hard, this is my passion.
I also have a kid and everything. Not just that, I want to do something that’s fun for me. I’ve never been the type of person for someone to tell me what to do. I want to be doing stuff by myself and doing stuff I love at that.
AllHipHop: What was the inspiration behind your name?
Lil Keyu: I started off as Keyeezus. Key is literally in my name and I was into the Kanye stuff. I put Keyeezus but I couldn’t really keep that name because it had something to do with him, so I stuck with Key and I kept the ‘u’ in ‘eezus’. It’s Lil Keyu. I had a little era where I was listening to Kanye West’s music, liking his clothing line, etc.
AllHipHop: What’s his influence on your own rap career?
Lil Keyu: More of the aggression in trying to get a point across. My music is tryna get a point across like he’s trying to get a point across. Not saying that I use him as a mentor, that’s something I could be like “oh damn alright, I see what he’s tryna do.” When I listen to his music, I can see it.
AllHipHop: Best memory from the video shoot?
Lil Keyu: The water scene, that’s when I really got into it. I really liked that part when it was raining. [chuckles]
AllHipHop: How’s feel being compared to 6ix9ine?
Lil Keyu: I don’t like it. I hate it.
AllHipHop: Who started that?
Lil Keyu: To be honest, I really don’t know. That s##t is so annoying. Because if you gonna say that, it’s like okay so 6ix9ine copied Waka Flaka. Waka Flaka had that yelling stage he went through. If you gonna say he copied Waka Flaka, then Waka Flocka copied one of these rock stars. Come on, why you saying that? I just feel like it’s ‘cause I’m from New York. I just feel like it should just be a genre, people shouldn’t make names and s##t like that.
The reason why these old heads and OGs are mad towards these youngins is because they actually do hip-hop. What they do is hip-hop, what we do isn’t really hip-hop to me. It’s hip-hop, but it’s mixed with something else.
There needs to be more genres for us to open. It won’t be like “alright so you can’t say that I really do hip-hop,” because my music ain’t really hip-hop. If you said, ”oh she does hip-hop.” someone else could be like “nah she don’t do hip-hop.” And I agree with that, because I don’t do hip-hop.
AllHipHop: What do you do?
Lil Keyu: I do whatever I feel like.
AllHipHop: Who’s in your Top 5?
Lil Keyu: The Weeknd, Pop Smoke, Ski Mask The Slump God, Alicia Keys, and Linkin Park. I live two different lives, I like R&B and reggae.
AllHipHop: What can we expect on your upcoming EP, A Different Key?
Lil Keyu: Songs I’ve been previewing before. Old songs that OG fans have been wanting me to drop but I haven’t, they’re gonna finally hear it.
(AllHipHop Rumors) Eminem! Can we cannot seem to say it enough: he is one of the best rappers of all time. We say that more than any other rapper! Are we trying to convince ourselves? I don’t know, but he is. Eminem really doesn’t say a whole lot and doesn’t come out to play until he drops an album or something.
That said, I think Em is getting ready to do a lyrical drive-by one somebody. Check out what he posted on Twitter:
Well, honestly – the only person I think he COULD be talking about is Lord Jamar. But, why is he subbin’ the situation? I think he needs to say it!!
Do like this!
And to think: this is all old stuff! Royce mentions Lord Jamar. Lord Jamar calls Eminem Tarzan: Lord of the Apes! This is huge! Lets get off social media and RAP!
“I don’t want no problems with nobody and I don’t want to have to f##k nobody up,” Royce said. You are not the measuring stick of what street n##gas listen to. I don’t look at you like no type of street n##ga, I look at you the same way you look at Marshall. You say he talks about a bunch of s##t he don’t do, I feel like you rapped about a bunch of s##t you never did and you still ain’t doing,” Royce fumed.
Lord Jamar replied once again and has even sparked a debate over whether or not Eminem’s music gets burn in “the hood” or not.
“People don’t really ask me about you Royce, they asked me about Eminem, but for some reason, you like to respond. Okay, I get it, you’re a loyal guy,” Lord Jamar said in his latest reply. in general, black people don’t f##king listen to Eminem. It’s not a f##king disc, it’s a f##king fact,” Lord Jamar said.
Either way, Eminem looks like Eminem is sick of his name being in other people’s mouths, and he’s prepared to do battle.
“People think they want this problem ’til they get it.”
People think they want this problem 'til they get it.
Eminem could have also caught some recent comments from his old nemesis Benzino, who trashed the rapper in a post on Instagram.
The former Source owner labeled Eminem a “trailer park hick” who can only put “silly words together” during a debate on Choke No Joke’s Instagram feed after an interview.
“I’m a real street n##ga who actually did it, he’s a trailer park hick who puts silly words together that rhyme and acts hard when he knows he would faint and break out in a rash if he ever was in a room alone with me, you see hip Hop is from the streets, not the work place, not college, not from white neighborhoods, from the dangerous, poor, and ruthless streets. So his foolishness don’t move me and if you are a black man from the struggle still idolizing that cracker then we can’t see eye to eye,” Benzino said.
(AllHipHop Features) Andy Mineo has had a long history of pushing the boundaries of acceptable norms in Hip-Hop. The Syracuse, New York, native has been a staple amongst different subsets of Hip-Hop, including what people have inaccurately labeled Christian Rap, but his newest project Work in Progress, offers fresh, revealing introspection on Mineo. He’s got his sights on an ever-expanding audience and galvanizing his existing fanbase. Basically, he’s not interested in being inside any box that you may want to trap him in. “I take a lot of risks creatively, just trying to push to find interesting sounds sonically and lyrical concepts that are usually very vulnerable,” he explains. “I’m very honest in my music and I think that’s the thing that people are most drawn to about what I create.”
Mineo has no problem discussing his growth as an artist over the years, however, during his sit-down with our boy Slops, he reveals that he can take risks in his music because it’s more rewarding for him and his fans. “I‘ve found that when you’re vulnerable in your music it actually creates more unity,” he says. “More people are able to resonate with what you’re saying and understand where you’re coming from.”
