(AllHipHop News) Tyga’s crew reportedly caused a commotion at California’s Coachella festival after losing an iPhone in a lake.

According to reports, a member of the rapper’s entourage dropped the device in a lake during a Coachella party hosted by bosses at the 1OAK nightclub chain over the weekend.

A witness said that the incident resulted in revelers at the bash, which was attended by movie stars Leo DiCaprio and Timothee Chalamet, frantically help the 28-year-old musician and his pals hunt for the phone.

“Tyga caused a scene, prompting a search by nearly everyone on the property,” the onlooker said.

They added that the incident even resulted in celebrity chef David Bouhadana donning goggles and diving into the lake to help find the iPhone, which was eventually discovered and dried out with rice.

Tyga, who used to date reality star Kylie Jenner, was spotted holding hands with fellow hip-hop star Iggy Azalea at the festival.

UPDATE: Qatari Investment Firm Denies Involvement In Ice Cube’s BIG3 League

(AllHipHop News) Representatives for the Qatari Investment Authority have clarified reports claiming the company is involved in a billion-dollar lawsuit with Ice Cube over his BIG3 Leauge.

Cube filed the lawsuit in early April, claiming the QIA and members a Qatari royal family cheated BIG3 out of over $5 million in money earmarked for the league.

“This article includes a number of allegations that are unfounded and incorrect,” a representative for Qatar Investment Authority said in a statement today (April 17). “Among others, neither the Qatar Investment Authority nor its CEO are investors in, nor have they had any involvement with, Big3.”

Ice Cube and his partner Jeff Kwatinetz are seeking $1.2 billion in damages, in order to pay $20 million to each player in the BIG3 League.

Too $hort’s Rape Case Rejected

(AllHipHop News) A rape case against rapper Too $hort has fallen apart due to insufficient evidence.

Teana Louis filed papers in Los Angeles back in January, claiming the hip-hop star, real name Todd Anthony Shaw, sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions in 2016.

She alleged he forced her to have oral and a### sex against her wishes, while she was working on a song with the rapper.

Louis sued the “Blow The Whistle” hitmaker for sexual battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, gender discrimination, and false imprisonment, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has rejected the case, explaining there wasn’t enough evidence to prove the plaintiff didn’t consent to the sexual encounters.

DJ Khaled Is Preparing His Son For Big Business

(AllHipHop News) DJ Khaled is looking to trademark his 17-month-old son Asahd’s name for use on a wide variety of products.

The hip-hop star, who plans to call his forthcoming album Father of Asahd, filed documents with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officials earlier this month, looking to register his offspring’s name as a brand.

Khaled has applied to trademark his son’s full name, Asahd Tuck Khaled, as well as Asahd, and Asahd Khaled.

In addition to registering the infant’s moniker for use selling baby products, including pacifiers, children’s vitamins and strollers, the DJ is also looking to lock up the rights to flog Asahd themed perfume, soft drinks, jewelry, clothing and entertainment services.

Since the 42-year-old and his fiancee Nicole Tuck, also 42, welcomed their child into the world in October 2016, the youngster has become a social media star due to his father’s devoted posts.

Last month the doting dad shared a video showing the toddler hanging with him everywhere from the red carpet to the back of yachts.

Narrating the video, Khaled said: “Every morning I tell Asahd, ‘I love you. I got you. But the truth is, he’s got me. He’s what gives me hope and purpose. He’s my inspiration and motivation… I got everything from my mother and father. Now I’m grateful for the one who’s coming after me.”

The musician, full name Khaled Mohamed Khaled, also bought his son a $100,000 diamond watch for his first birthday.

Nicki Minaj Discusses Staying Out Of The Dispute Between Lil Wayne And Birdman

(AllHipHop News) Nicki Minaj’s sit down with Zane Lowe made headlines across the internet last week. A tear-filled clip of Minaj sharing her side of the story about Migos, Cardi B, and the “Motorsport” posse cut instantly went viral.

A video of the full Beats 1 Radio interview is now available via YouTube. The #NickiDay Q&A included the Queens spitter discussing her new singles “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz” as well as her forthcoming album, her documentary, Meek Mill’s legal situation, and more.

Additionally, Lil Wayne and Birdman called into the show at separate times. Nicki also defended her decision not to get in the middle of the highly publicized professional/personal/legal conflict between Weezy and Baby.

“We family. And Wayne knows that. And Wayne knows when it’s a dispute between family, I don’t take sides. I mind my business and I show love to my family. That’s why I continued to show love to Baby. When other people stopped, I didn’t.”

She added, “So, no, I wasn’t going to stop showing love to Baby. And now you guys understand why because family works sh-t out. And I knew eventually this sh-t was going to get worked out with Baby and Wayne.”

DJ Esco Explains Why It’s Important For Young Rap Fans To Know Nas

(AllHipHop News) DJ Esco is responsible for getting Nas and Future on the same song. The New York legend and the Atlanta hitmaker joined forces for “Walk Thru” off Esco’s Kolorblind album.

Some Hip Hop fans were unaware that Nas is also known as Esco, and that’s part of the reason DJ Esco wanted to work with the Illmatic emcee. The turntablist spoke with MTV News about teaming with Escobar.

“Hearing Nas say my name on a record means everything to me because I wanted the younger crowd to know that there was an Esco before DJ Esco. There was a Nas Esco,” said the Freebandz affiliate. “No matter how hot you are, there’s always someone who did it before you that you can learn from.”

He continued, “Hip Hop is not in a good state with the young rappers and then you got the older rappers – there’s no connection right now. Older rappers got a problem with the way younger rappers are doing it. Younger rappers just think the older rappers are just old. So I wanted to do something new, fresh for 2018 – OG Esco, DJ Esco and put it together.”

Tina Lawson Shares Beyoncé’s Reason For Honoring HBCUs During Coachella Show

(AllHipHop News) Many music fans and people in the music industry are still recovering from Beyoncé shutting down the Coachella festival on Saturday. Queen Bey performed a show that was unapologetically black by paying homage to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, African-American fraternities/sororities, and other cultural linchpins.

Apparently, there was at least one person that was concerned about the singer presenting those themes in front of a mostly white audience. Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Lawson, wrote about her apprehension on Instagram and her daughter’s reaction.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BhmQe-BlkYe/?utm_source=ig_embed

Lawson wrote:

I told Beyonce that i was afraid that the predominately white audience at Coachella would be confused by all of the black culture and Black college culture because it was something that they might not get. Her brave response to me made me feel a-bit selfish and ashamed. She said i have worked very hard to get to the point where i have a true voice and At this point in my life and my career i have a responsibility to do whats best for the world and not what is most popular “ She said that her hope is that after the show young people would research this culture and see how cool it is, and young people black and white would listen to “ LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING and see how amazing the words are for us all and bridge the gap. She also hopes that it will encourage young kids to enroll in our amazing HIstorically Black Colleges and Universities . I stand corrected

Following her internet-breaking set at #Beychella, the Lemonade album creator announced she’s funding a $100,000 scholarship program for HBCUs through her BeyGOOD initiative. One student from Xavier University, Wilberforce University, Tuskegee University, and Bethune-Cookman University will receive $25,000 for the 2018-2019 school year.

“We salute the rich legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities,” states Ivy McGregor, Director of Philanthropy and Corporate Relations at Parkwood Entertainment. “We honor all institutions of higher learning for maintaining culture and creating environments for optimal learning which expands dreams and the seas of possibilities for students.”

Beyoncé’s Formation Scholars Awards Program, which was only open to women, was established in 2017. The Homecoming Scholars Award Program for 2018-2019 will expand to all qualifying students, regardless of gender, at the four institutions.

Drake Replaces Himself At #1 On Hot 100 With “Nice For What”

(AllHipHop News) Drake leads the Hot 100 for the 12th straight week. Except the OVO frontman’s new leader is “Nice For What.” Drizzy’s latest single ended the 11-week reign of “God’s Plan.”

“Nice For What” debuted in the front seat on the chart. This gives Drake his fifth #1 atop the Hot 100, following “God’s Plan” and “One Dance” featuring WizKid & Kyla, as well as his guest appearances on Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” and “Work.”

Besides sitting in the pole position, the Canadian superstar also holds the #2 position with “God’s Plan” and the #5 position thanks to his BlocBoy JB collaboration “Look Alive.” Drake is the 18th act to command #1 and #2 at the same time.

Cardi B controls more than one spot in the Hot 100 Top 10 as well. The Invasion Of Privacy track “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin breaks onto the chart at #8 and “Finesse” – her joint effort with Bruno Mars – falls to #10.

Back to Champagne Papi, the Young Money deputy also announced his next studio album is on the way. The project, tentatively titled Scorpion, arrives this June.

Usher Reportedly Loses $800,000 In Cash & Jewelry From Home Burglary

(AllHipHop News) It appears singer/actor Usher is the victim of a burglary. His estranged wife Grace Miguel was apparently first informed about the heist by a domestic worker in the home.

Miguel claimed about $800,000 in cash and jewelry was missing. She reportedly told police the housekeeper noticed the recording box with the security camera footage was also removed from the residence.

The Blast reports:

Miguel told police she believed the thieves must have unlocked a window in the home during a recent open house (the house is currently on the market). She said she had reached out to the realtor to get a list of people who had been to the open house and would turn it over to police when she had it. In the report, Miguel said she believed the thieves had stolen the jewelry earlier in the week and then returned to get the security footage.

Miguel supposedly found out about the break-in on March 29. Usher’s $200,000 rose gold Jesus necklace and six watches (one worth around $200,000) were allegedly stolen.

Usher Raymond and Grace Miguel got married in 2015. News of their breakup became public in March.

The couple remained together throughout the “U Got It Bad” performer’s herpes scandal in 2017. Rumors that Usher began dating Love & Hip Hop Miami star Amara La Negra started circulating online not long after Miguel and Raymond announced their separation.

Cardi B Passes Beyoncé For Hot 100 Chart Record

(AllHipHop News) “My little 15 minutes lasting long as hell, huh?” raps Cardi B on “I Do.” After her much-talked-about Coachella performance, the Atlantic recording artist found out she set a new Billboard chart record.

Twelve songs off the #1 album Invasion Of Privacy and the Bruno Mars collaboration “Finesse” currently hold spots on the Hot 100. This means Cardi passed Beyoncé for the most simultaneous songs on the tally by a solo female act.

6ix9ine and Boxer Adrien Broner Have A $300,000 Beef!

By: Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) 6ix9ine and Adrien Broner are two of Hip-Hop’s most colorful characters. While 6ix9ine’s records are doing better, Broner has found previous success in the Boxing world.

This is honestly another one of 6ix9ine’s weirder beefs for him to be involved. For a rapper and a Boxer to beef is like watching a camel beef with a parrot.

Broner said the beef started after he called 6ix9ine a clown on Instagram. Instagram is normally where most of 6ix9ine’s beefs start so that’s not a surprise.

What is a surprise is 6ix9ine stating he wouldn’t back down after Broner said he would “pull up” and is even placing hundreds of thousands of dollar on Jesse Vargas beating Broner up this weekend.

We’ve all seen the footage of 6ix9ine’s LA fight and I don’t think he should challenge Broner. However, I’m a nobody and I’m just the rumor guy so my opinion is small.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BhpIVADHdzO/?

Broner also might want all the smoke and you never beef with a guy that wants smoke. Hopefully this feud stays on Instagram and nothing real grows from it.

You never know though because I recently saw Bhad Bhabie give another IG comedian all the smoke so only time knows.*

Kendrick Lamar Is The First Rapper To Win A Pulitzer Prize

(AllHipHop News) Kendrick Lamar has won a Pulitzer Prize for his album Damn.

The rapper has won a string of top awards for the record, including a Grammy for Best Rap Album, and now he can add the prestigious accolade to his collection.

The award is given “for distinguished musical composition by an American.”

Kendrick’s 2017 album becomes the first hip-hop record to win a Pulitzer Prize.

The rapper will also collect a $15,000 check.

“(Kendrick’s album is) a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life,” a statement reads.

In the lyrics to the album, Kendrick touches on his early life growing up in Compton, California and issues affecting the U.S. and the world.

News of the award comes after Kendrick stunned the crowd at the Coachella music festival in California on Friday when he emerged during SZA’s set to perform her song “Doves in the Wind” and his “Black Panther” soundtrack anthem “All the Stars.”

He also appeared onstage with rapper Vince Staples. Kendrick Lamar has yet to comment on his latest accolade.

He is being feted alongside The New York Times’ Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey and The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow, who are also receiving Pulitzers for their exposes detailing disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct and harassment, which subsequently led to over 80 women, including actresses Salma Hayek and Lupita Nyong’o coming forward with allegations against the filmmaker.

Celebrities from Anthony Bourdain to Logic congratulated Kendrick on his big win.

Unbought and Unbossed: An Analysis Of Damon Dash’s Book “Culture Vultures”

By Biba Adams

(AllHipHop Features) In 1968, Brooklyn-born Shirley Chisholm became the first African-American woman elected to Congress. Four years later, she became the first woman to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. Chisholm was known for being, unapologetically, for the people. Unbought and Unbossed was her autobiography published in 1970. It became her slogan and is engraved on her tombstone.

Chisholm once said, “I am not the candidate of Black America, although I am Black and proud. I’m not the candidate of the women’s movement of this country, although I am a woman and I’m equally proud of that. I’m not the candidate of any political bosses or fat cats or special interests. I am the candidate of the people. And my presence before you now symbolizes a new era in American political history.”

As I read Damon Dash’s new book, Culture Vultures: Conversations with Damon Dash, I was reminded of Shirley Chisholm and “unbought and unbossed.” Dash sees himself as a defender of his culture and people, and he is definitely his own boss. His message is about financial independence, collective economics, and pride in one’s culture. And isn’t that what we’ve all been saying? #WakandaForever

Isn’t that what 4:44 was about too?

Roc-A-Fella Records was a co-venture with Def Jam. Dash, with Biggs Burke, and Jay-Z, created of one of the greatest Hip-Hop dynasties of all time and the incubator of one of the greatest rappers of all time. The producers, other artists, and staff. Roc-A-Wear. The historic (self-funded) Hard Knock Life Tour. Paid in Full. And on and on. And Dash has dozens of his own businesses. We all know the stats and you can read more about most of that in the book. This is a review. Besides, some of us OG’s still do that dance when “Big Pimpin” comes on.

The challenge with Dame is the delivery. Because it is kinda harsh to hear someone be called a “vulture,” it makes me cringe. That’s a pretty f##king gross bird. And it’s a little unnerving to see him call music executives out by name. Because most people don’t. But, that’s Damon Dash.

Plus, he has a point.

cul·ture vul·ture

noun

informal

plural noun: culture vultures

a person who is very interested in the arts, especially to an obsessive degree.

Dash defines a Culture Vulture as “someone who will exploit a life and culture they don’t abide by, making money from it, while completely disrespecting it.” –p. 1

For example, Dash is adamantly against the 360-deal.

“Yeah, But, that’s why I don’t like the 360 for a creative because then corporate takes some of your show and merchandise revenue. They take your merch, your show, and they also take your endorsements,” Dame said, “That s### is crazy. Lyor invented that b#######. That’s why it was better before the 360 deals hit the game.” –p. 195

Culture Vultures: Conversations with Damon Dash came about through his friend and barber, Kenyatta Griggs. Having been cutting Dame’s hair for over a decade, Griggs is also a successful salon owner, author, and speaker with Hip Hop Motivation, a personal development company. He creates self-help entertainment like the film and book series, The Secret to Ballin: Journey.

It is primarily a business book. A manifesto of the urgency of financial independence. Culture Vultures was self-published by Poppington and Hip Hop Motivation. Released on February 13th, the book is about so much more than his relationship with the music industry, which is the least of his concerns and interests. It’s about his passion for business, his love of his children and his #wifeyforlifey, Raquel M. Horn as well as his fervent belief in investing in women. He talks about spirituality, diabetes, the internet.

He talks about Aaliyah. The chapter is only three pages long. But they are three very sad pages.

“I would have to say it was ‘the’ worst pain I had ever felt.” -p. 218

I thought Culture Vultures: Conversations with Damon Dash was a great book. It could be a little shorter and it uses bold text a lot, which got a little distracting. Still, it’s good. Redman drops by and is in the book for a couple chapters, which is fun. It’s very visual full of photos largely of Dash at his home in Malibu where a lot of the interviews and filming/recording for the documentary and audiobook took place.

Of course, there’s also a documentary and an audiobook… it’s Damon Dash.

Culture Vultures: Conversations with Damon Dash is available now. Follow Damon Dash (@duskopoppinton) and Kenyatta Griggs (@hip_hop_motivator) on Instagram.

Kevin Hart Praises Meek Mill’s “Mental Toughness”

(AllHipHop News) Kevin Hart has praised imprisoned rapper Meek Mill for “displaying a different level of mental toughness.”

Meek was sentenced to serve two to four years in prison in November for violating the terms of his probation relating to a 2008 firearms case.

Fellow Philadelphia native Hart recently spoke to Mill and shared with his followers on Instagram the ins and outs of their “amazing” conversation.

“Just got off the phone with @meekmill ….I love my guy…He’s in a really good space and wanted me to share some things with you guys!!!!! #FreeMeekMill #Philadelphia #MyBrother #PositivityBeatsNegativityEveryDayOfTheWeek,” he captioned the photo of the screenshot of the lengthy note he had written.

“Just had an amazing talk with Meek Mill… I’m loving his mental right now. He is not allowing this minor setback in life to break him… instead he is embracing it and using it as motivation to improve on himself. He is truly displaying a different level of mental toughness,” Hart wrote.

“He wanted me to tell all of his fans and supporters that he truly appreciates all of your support & that he loves all of you for it. All of our lives have the potential to be amazing stories… it’s up to us to write out own story… WE control our OWN destiny…”

The Jumanji star added: “After talking to Meek today I know that he is destined for great things to come. He’s been thru a lot… He is so focused on telling his story and making sure the youth that’s coming up under him doesn’t have to go thru the same thing…”

“Stay strong Meek. Keep your head up. We are celebrating as soon as you get home!!!”

Meek Mill received some good news earlier today (April 16) when prosecutors formally agreed his 2008 conviction for gun and drugs should be completely vacated over corruption allegations levied at the arresting officer in the case.

The Weeknd’s XO Imprint Acknowledges Justin Snow’s “Fortnite” Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIKr-TvPy-A&feature=youtu.be

Rising rapper and slasher Justin Snow unleashed his self-directed “Fortnite” music video co-directed by Greg Myers this past Friday April 6th.

In the video Justin Snow’s moodus operandi is #PrettyGirlsGetSlain, which is his twisted metaphor for intercourse.

The video’s concept plays like a slasher film fantasy for women who are attracted to the bad guys, continuing themes from previous horrific visuals like those fromSnow’s Body Count project.

In the short film, women are essentially role playing their favorite fantasy with a horror movie villain.

Recruiting beautiful unsuspecting victims, Snow has raised eyebrows with his blood-splattered polaroid pictures and NSFW films which air regularly on his IG page, gaining attention from the XO movement and other industry insiders.

As such Snow’s Instagram feed has become widely popular as he metaphorically slays beautiful women also drawing attention from the likes of Playboi Carti, Rich The Kid, Ian Conner, A$AP Bari, Uno the Activist and more.

Wiz Khalifa – “Hunnid Bands”

Want to know how much it cost to book Wiz? Well just one listen to this song and you got a good idea if you’re looking for a quote. While Wiz does smoke out in this visual, he keeps it clean for the most part in this trippy-tropical visual. This song may possibly be on Wiz’s Rolling Paper 2 according to the YouTube description.
