The Game’s Sexual Assault Lawsuit Hearing Postponed

(AllHipHop News) The Game’s sexual assault case has stalled so the rapper’s attorneys have more time to respond to requests to hand over his financial records.

The Compton MC, born Jayceon Taylor, was sued for $10 million by Priscilla Rainey, a contestant on his U.S. reality series “She’s Got Game,” in 2015.

She claimed The Game assaulted her while filming a scene in a Los Angeles bar as part of the show, in which women competed for the rap star’s affection.

He lost the case in late 2016 and a $7 million default judgment was handed down in Rainey’s favor.

She filed documents on March 1, claiming she hasn’t seen any money from the hip-hop star, and she asked a judge to hold him in civil contempt for refusing to comply with the judgment.

A hearing was scheduled in U.S. District Court in Chicago on Thursday (March 15), but it has now been pushed to April 5th.

Rainey has allegedly conducted her own investigation into The Game’s financial situation using third parties and now claims to have evidence to suggest he is diverting millions of dollars in income to avoid having to pay up.

She claims she has tried multiple times to obtain his financial records from his legal team and is now asking a judge to make him appear in court and testify about his income and assets.

Meanwhile, the rapper previously filed an appeal over the ruling, and also launched a lawsuit against officials at network Viacom, accusing them of failing to vet contestants and not protecting him against Rainey.

He wants them to cover the costs of the judgment and pay him $13 million in damages.

Vic Mensa Talks Launching SaveMoneySaveLife Non-Profit To Help Chicago

(AllHipHop News) Vic Mensa has been among the most active emcees when it comes to promoting social justice. He participated in #BlackLivesMatter demonstrations, joined Standing Rock protesters, hit the stage at the #JusticeForFlint fundraising event, and showed support for Assata Shakur.

The Roc Nation artist is now leading a non-profit organization to help his hometown. SaveMoneySaveLife will include the first responders/mental-health program StreetMedics as well as the summer mentorship program UniVerse.

“All of our initiatives, to begin with, are going to be very Chicago-focused. Oftentimes, people ask me, “What is the main cause of the unrest in Chicago?” And I point to the lack of investment in the community,” said Mensa. “To everything being sapped from the community. To young men being snatched up and generations of fathers being imprisoned. And drugs being pumped into the community. And guns being pumped into the community. But there’s still no positive constructive resources being put into the community.”

SaveMoneySaveLife is scheduled to launch on March 16. Mensa and singer-songwriter Jamila Woods will perform at an inaugural gala at Chicago’s Lincoln Hall with all the proceeds benefiting the foundation.

“I’ve been politically minded and socially conscious for a long time. I got a tattoo of a black panther with ‘Free Huey’ on my shoulder when I was 16. So these things have always been on my mind. But more so recently, I’ve started to realize that this life is about service,” added Vic. “It’s not just about personal gain. Service is key. And as I have more on my plate, and I have more ambitions and more goals and things I want for myself, I’m realizing more and more how important it is to be a servant.”

Juelz Santana Pleads Not guilty To Gun And Drug Charges

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Juelz Santana has entered not guilty pleas for gun and drug possession charges following an incident at a New Jersey airport last week.

Juelz, real name LaRon James, became a wanted man after fleeing from Newark International Airport on March 9, when a loaded firearm was allegedly discovered in his bag, beside his ID card, at a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoint.

He surrendered to cops at the Port Authority Police Department in the early hours of Monday (March 12) and was booked for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon on an aircraft, both of which carry a 10-year maximum sentence.

Santana, 36, was also booked for unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of drugs, and on an unspecified federal warrant.

He appeared before a state judge in Newark on Wednesday (March 14) when he pleaded his innocence to two of the weapons charges and the drug count, which relates to the alleged discovery of oxycodone painkillers, which he didn’t have a prescription for, in his luggage.

Santana, who has been remanded in custody, is next due in court on April 9th.

The center will include visual arts, TV/film, music recording, photography, and dance studios, a performance space, a multi-purpose recreation/meeting room, lounge office suites, and a commercial kitchen for culinary arts instruction. HHHOF and Thrive Collective’s long-term partnership was established to make a lasting impact in the lives of young people in NYC public schools, communities, and universities.

“We are establishing corporate partnerships to have the various studios completed over the next few months and schedule a public grand opening event as the first classes are set to begin. The Hip Hop Hall of Fame Museum’s Arts & Media Academy and Thrive Collective programs is where students will be training for careers in digital media, tech, photography, and music while producing real-life content for the museum and the Hip Hop television channel network,” says JT Thompson, Hip Hop Hall of Fame + Museum founder.

YFN Lucci Accused Of Stealing His Biggest Hit “Everyday We Lit”

(AllHipHop News) Rapper YFN Lucci is accused of stealing his best-known single from another rapper.

Rackboy Cam claims he made his song “Everything Be Lit” before YFN Lucci dropped his single “Everyday We Lit” with PnB Rock in December of 2016.

In the lawsuit, Cam maintains YFN took his song and made minor changes, while stealing everything else, including the single’s melody.

Cam is asking a judge to pull the Gold-certified song from the radio, record stores, and the streaming services.

He’s also asking for any profits YFN Lucci may have earned off of the single.

#AHHPowerfulWomen: Erica Bowen From Def Jam To Dream Job

By DeAngelus Garcia Jr

(AllHipHop Features) Erica Bowen, founder and CEO of Blanco Entertainment believes that its easy to be in the right place at the right time by simply following your heart. Being true to herself and doing what she loves with the people most important to her have always opened up doors for Bowen, whether it was promoting Mad Wednesdays alongside the now legendary Maria Davis (featured on Jay Z’s 22 two’s), or filling in as the assistant for Def Jam honcho and close friend Nicole Jones when her hired assistant would miss work. Bowen’s willingness to play her part for the team has lead her to roles that are bigger than she could have ever imagined for herself.

From 2000-2006, Erica Bowen rose swiftly through the ranks of Def Jam, filling the positions of file clerk and manager of business affairs all the way up to her final position of A&R  Administration. During her time with Def Jam & Island Records, Bowen oversaw projects for iconic artists like Jay Z, Kanye West, Rihanna and Ne-Yo. She also managed records for Young Jeezy during his time at Def Jam and eventually traded her New York offices to become General Manager of CTE from 2006-2017 in Atlanta, GA.

Bowen’s 11 years with one of Atlanta’s most cherished artist & creative minds afforded Bowen numerous opportunities to to create success for Jeezy and CTE’s special style of southern hip-hop, blending the booming 808’s of early trap with lyricism that was real as it was fun. As head of CTE, Bowen was able to take that raw energy and help artists channel it into amazing street records like “Corporate Thuggin” and into full on social commentary like Young Jeezy’s 2008 album “The Recession”. Bowen counts the album as a career highlight based off of its commercial success and its cultural impact, with Obama himself paying thanks to Young Jeezy and company for their voter registration drives and other educational efforts during his first run for office. Other service initiatives through the Street Dreamz Foundation have flourished under Erica Bowen’s leadership; among them are the Lighthouse Foundation and Hosea Feeds the Hungry.

Since departing from CTE in 2017, Bowen has focused all of her attention towards launching her entertainment company Blanco Entertainment while directing the careers of artist Cosa Nostra Kidd and her recording artist son Westside KJ, two of new Atlanta’s hottest artists poised for the next industry takeover. Bowen also enjoys spending time alone relaxing, mentoring young women in the industry & running an event planning business as a passion project.

AllHipHop: What does your job entail?

In my career I’ve worn a lot of different hats from managing daily operations at major labels to creating and tracking budgets for album releases; anything related to recording is my favorite part of the job. I’ve handled show booking, road management, handling all the travel and lodging. I’ve even worked on video sets and as street team. I’m proud to say there is not a role I that have not played.

AllHipHop: What’s the most enjoyable part of your job?

The most enjoyable part is I get to do something different everyday. Everyday is different than the one before. What might’ve worked on Monday, may fail on Wednesday. It’s so many moving parts and so many people involved with making an artist successful and making sure they hit their target audience. Its a lot of trial and error in this career and this lifestyle but its worth it. The changes are what keep me excited and motivated.

AllHipHop: What is the hardest part?

The disappointment, because again, everything is trial and error. Its hard to see what you thought was a good idea fail.

AllHipHop: Can you describe a moment of adversity in your career?

My biggest moment of adversity was transitioning from being an employee to an entrepreneur. I started out working for major labels, the biggest hip-hop label of all time, Def Jam. From there I went to work with Jeezy and CTE, and Jeezy is a legend. People think you’re crazy to walk away from what they think is a good thing, but at the end of the day you have to be true to yourself. I knew I wanted more for myself and I knew that I had a proven track record based on my career history. It made sense, at least to me, to start my own business. That’s why I started Blanco Entertainment.

AllHipHop: What keeps you from giving up?

My son. He’s my number one supporter and he’s talented himself. Watching him mature into an artist with his own tastes and opinions about things reminds me of starting out in this industry. I just want to be there to give him the advice when he needs it, but also to set an example for him to learn from. Plus he keeps me on my toes too.

AllHipHop: Who inspired you to become a leader or a boss?

Nothing is ever handed to you, especially woman of color. I come from a family of hard workers who instilled the value of being twice as good as everyone else. People like my dad & my grandmother. My inspirations in this industry are those who remind me of my family with their work ethic; women like Sylvia Rhone, Nicole Jones and Karen Kwak who I worked under during my time at Def Jam.

AllHipHop: How do you balance work and personal life?

Ha! I have yet to master work & my personal life after almost 20 years in this industry. The music world is not a 9-5 job. It’s hard to not bring work home with you, just like its hard to not set aside your personal feelings at work, because in a sense you’re always at work. Artists and producers and their teams, they all have a personal relationship outside of music a lot of the time, whether they knew each other before the fame or not. I knew that when I started though. I am just blessed to have a son who shares a love and appreciation of music. I love the work that I do and now that my son is pursuing his own career, my love for work and my love for him intersect a lot.

AllHipHop: What do you do for fun?

I like to spend quiet time and doing things to pamper myself. Regular stuff like get my hair and nails done. Go shopping.

AllHipHop: What does it mean to you to be a powerful woman in the hip-hop industry. Can you define what one is?

I can say that it takes three things, for sure, to make a powerful woman; especially in a male dominated space like hip-hop: a positive attitude, being assertive and being a team player. So many people will set what they think are impossible standards for you just because you are a woman and will want to see you fail. I’ve had to assert my opinion in spaces where my presence wasn’t wanted and my skills weren’t accepted. Being able to keep in mind that I feel good about myself and what I do makes it easier for me to speak up when I feel the need but also keep the work about the artist and the goals we have as a team.

AllHipHop: Any final words or advice?

If you really want to be a powerful woman, you have to understand that being a boss isn’t about just being creative or innovative or having the best idea. Its about utilizing your network and your team; respecting them by listening to them and creating opportunities around what you trust them to see. It’s also about being of service to the people around you and making sure you’re indispensable to whatever part of the industry you’re in.

Vince Staples Ends #GTFOMD GoFundMe Campaign, Plans To Donate Money

(AllHipHop News) Vince Staples presented one of the all-time greatest responses to his haters. The Long Beach representative offered his detractors the chance to force his rap retirement by donating to a “Get The F-ck Off My D-ck” GoFundMe.

After conceding that he will not reach his $2 million goal, Staples announced he is ending the crowdsourcing campaign. He tweeted, “I am cancelling the gofundme and refunding all the little people with big voices. I expect to hear no further slander.”

In addition, the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library will receive $2,200 from Vince. DJ Envy Confronts Desus & Mero On-Air Over Comments About His Wife

(AllHipHop News) DJ Envy was feeling a type of way while interviewing Desus Nice and The Kid Mero for The Breakfast Club. The radio show personality clearly had a problem with the Desus & Mero hosts cracking jokes about his wife on their Viceland show.

Last month, Desus made a comical comment about Gia Casey needing Envy’s money. The public couple discussed their infidelity issues on an episode of The Real which led to the Desus & Mero roasting session.

“You owe my wife an apology… When you insinuated that she was there for the check,” Envy told Desus.

DJ Envy called the comments disrespectful. Desus apologized and declared they will never talk about his family again. That did not stop Envy from walking out of the interview.

The Casey Crew podcaster later said he was too angry to continue talking with the guests. While Envy sat out of the conversation, Desus, Mero, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God continued to mock the on-air mea culpa.

“Do you think this was good for anybody? Do you think when this goes viral it’s going to have the impact that is going to make Breakfast Club look good? Are people gonna want to come up here now? Or are people gonna be like, ‘Nah, y’all n-ggas set a n-gga up’?” asked Desus.

Envy began trending on twitter. Some users defended his decision to stand up for his spouse, but a lot of people blasted the deejay for being too sensitive.

Philly Prosecutors Express Being Open To Meek Mill’s Early Release

(AllHipHop News) Robert “Meek Mill” Williams could be on his way home. The AP is reporting that Philadelphia prosecutors are not against Meek being released from prison while he appeals his latest sentence.

Last November, Williams was sentenced to 2 to 4 years for a probation violation stemming from a 2008 gun and drug case. His legal team has been working to get the 30-year-old freed over a range of issues.

The most recent concern came when news broke that Meek’s arresting police officer, Reginald V. Graham, was on a District Attorney Office’s list of compromised cops and allegedly gave false testimony at the rapper’s ’08 trial. The city’s new prosecutors confirmed Graham was among the officers the previous administration kept from testifying in court because of questionable credibility.

Meek’s lawyers have also argued that Genece Brinkley, the preceding judge, is deeply biased against the defendant. Brinkley hired her own attorney in order to counteract those claims, and she will presently be the person to decide if the “Young Black America” rhymer is released.

Earlier this week, Meek Mill spoke from prison at the “REFORM: Bringing Injustice To Light” event hosted at the University of Pennsylvania. He expressed, “If God picked me to be the one to bring the light to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and to the world, I accept it and I’m gonna stand up to it.”

Drake & Ninja Break Twitch Viewers World Record While Playing Fortnite

(AllHipHop News) Drake broke the internet and broke records overnight. The Grammy winner had social media going crazy as he played Fortnite Battle Royale with the popular gamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevin.

The two players pulled in over 600,000 concurrent viewers to a live stream on Twitch. According to CNET, that sets a new world record for the website.

Drizzy and Ninja passed Dr. DisRespect’s non-tournament record of 388,000. The all-time Twitch record is held by Eleague Major: Boston 2018 with 1.1 million concurrent viewers.

Hip Hop star Travis Scott and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster signed into the survival game too. Drake, Ninja, Travis, Twitch, and Fortnite were all top trending topics on Twitter early Thursday morning.

Joe Budden: Eminem/Shady Records Didn’t Do Anything To Help My Career

(AllHipHop News) While on the Rap Radar podcast, Royce da 5’9″ shared his view about Joe Budden’s criticism of Eminem’s most recent music and album roll-out. Royce stated, “I think he’s entitled to his opinion just like anybody else, but it goes back to the dignity thing, the loyalty.”

Budden used a segment of his podcast to respond to his Slaughterhouse brethren. The New Jersey native pushed back on the idea that he was disloyal toward Eminem by claiming he and the Revival album creator are not friends.

“Royce and Em are extremely close. Their relationship differs from mine and his, from Joell and his, from Crooked and his,” said Joe. “It’s nothing wrong with that. So why do we keep talking like you’re just supposed to grade n-ggas through the friends lenses?”

When his co-host Rory offered that Royce may have been drawing on the idea that as an employee of Shady Records Budden should have some loyalty toward his labelmates and boss, the podcaster responded, “I don’t think anybody at a major label helped me, ever. That has not changed from ’01 to now. How Joe Budden feels about major labels is well documented. I feel like they have all done nothing but robbed me and appropriate some great creative sh-t.”

Joe Budden joined Royce da 5’9″, Joell Ortiz, and Kxng Crooked to form Slaughterhouse. The Hip Hop supergroup signed to Shady Records/Interscope and released several projects via the company.

Southside Tells Tory Lanez He Wants All The Smoke and Then…

By Rico Panacea (@RicoPanacea)

(AllHipHop Rumors) Southside is one of rap’s biggest producers of the moment. The Atlanta based producer and his crew 808 Mafia have been creating the sound behind some of rap’s biggest hits for the last 10 years.

If not working with frequent collaborator and 808 Mafia member TM88, Southside often works with other producers on production projects.

Producers Southside has worked with range from Zaytoven and Sonny Digital to Metro Boomin and Travis Scott.

Southside’s relationship with Travis Scott is what brings us to our latest rumor.

Tory Lanez recently stopped by The Breakfast Club set and told a story about him and Travis Scott not seeing eye to eye over the fellow rapper singing a hook written by Tory.

In the interview, Tory Lanez spoke of comparisons made between him and other artists and people not knowing that he has written songs that have been used by other artists.

Essentially meaning the other artists were influenced by Tory and his style. Tory then spoke on Travis Scott saying that Travis does write his own material and the hook he sang was written by Tory but had already been placed on a T.I. and Meek Mill song.

A video surfaced after the interview showing Tory and Travis having a heated exchange about the topic and the song in question.

Southside offered his opinion about the situation after the video surfaced only. To say the least, Southside wasn’t too pleased with Tory Lanez

“We don’t gotta do no hoe s### to sell records, you b####-ass ni##a. F### outta here, ni##a. Tell that b####-ass ni##a Tory Lanez to hit us, ni##a.,” said Southside.

He continued, “We want all the smoke, all the fades. Call whoever you want to call, ni##a. We in California on the regular, you b####-ass ni##a.”

To keep it short and sweet, this situation escalated quickly and ended just as fast as it started.

The “Thug” That’s Backing 6ix9ine (Tekashi69) Is Revealed!

(AllHipHop Rumors) 6ix9ine (Tekashi69) is one of the more controversial rappers we have seen in the last few years. We have seen that dude is HEAVY in the streets with gang ties to boot. We have seen this over and over to the point where 6ix9ine (Tekashi69) has popped off at the whole city of Los Angeles. Since, it has been assumed and inferred that there was a singular THUG backing 6ix9ine. Well, that may or may not be true, because the 21-year old rapper has not really been challenged greatly in the streets. There’s that little skirmish in LA and some bottles being thrown, but nothing major.

However, the truth seems to be far less sinister. Look at the dude that’s running the label of both Trippie Redd and 6ix9ine!

Elliot Grainge is his name and he’s already made both rappers successful. He’s not just some dude that came off the streets though, he’s the son of one of the biggest mogul’s in rap. His father is Universal Music Group Chairman & CEO Lucian Grainge. Mic drop.

The plot thickens.

Judge And Prison Has Cost Meek Mill Over $30 Million In Earnings

(AllHipHop News) The judge who sent Meek Mill to prison has not broken his spirits, although his pockets are suffering.

Meek gave an exclusive interview to Rolling Stone from the State Correctional Institution in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Meek is serving a two to four-year prison sentence, for a series of minor infractions he committed while on probation from a 2008 drug and gun case.

Meek’s lawyer Joseph Tacopina maintains the judge sent him to jail after he refused to work with local veteran Charlie Mack and attempted to persuade him to leave Roc Nation Management.

Meek also says Judge Genece Brinkley commanded him to record a tribute song in her honor and retaliated against him when he rejected the offer.

According to management for the rapper, who has been imprisoned since November of 2017, Meek has lost more than $30 million as he sits behind bars.

“We had so much money hit us, we didn’t know where to put it,” said Meek’s day-to-day manager, Phil Smith. “We’re running around the country with a half-mil, cash.”

According to Meek, every time he released new material, Judge Brinkley would find a way to put a plug in his cash flow, by scrutinizing his every move.

Just last year, Meek lost out on over $5 million in touring revenue, since he was locked up on the probation violation charges shortly after the release of his album Wins & Losses.

Earlier this week, thousands of people rallied at the University of Pennsylvania in support of Meek and in protest of the justice system in Philadelphia.

After months of court dates, Meek’s lawyers finally won a “post-conviction relief appeal,” which has been scheduled for April, when Meek could be freed from prison.

Hill joins Fleet Foxes and Tame Impala as the headliners for the three-day event at Union Park, but her performance will be extra special.

The former Fugees star’s 1998 album picked up five Grammy Awards, becoming the first hip-hop release to earn the Album of the Year honor.

The War On Drugs, Chaka Khan, Blood Orange, and Courtney Barnett are also among the acts gracing the stage at the Pitchfork Festival in July.

VIDEO: The Must-See Craig Mack Documentary!

(AllHipHop Features) There is renewed interest in one Craig Mack, one of the pillars of the Bad Boy Empire. The New York rapper is truly one of the unheralded artists of the 1990’s. Mack was one of Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’s prized artists at one point, but soon The Notorious B.I.G. would emerge as the singular most important artist on the label. Or was he? Some could argue Craig Mack did that with Flava In Ya Ear and the subsequent remix that revamped everybody’s career.

But, the story of Craig Mack goes much deeper. A documentary has been floating online for quite some time. I have watched it in its entirety and its good, in my opinion. It does a good job of telling the truth in an objective manner. It is important to note that Erick Sermon, who knew and worked closely with Craig Mack, is working on an official doc on Craig Mack that includes the rap star. When that comes, we’ll be supporting it. For now, check this out.
