Bobby Shmurda Offered Plea Deal In Prison Contraband Case

(AllHipHop News) Embattled rapper Bobby Shmurda has been offered a plea deal in his prison contraband case.

The hip-hop star, real name Ackquille Pollard, was arrested in June, 2015 after he was caught in possession of a “sharpened metal instrument” while in jail.

At the time of his arrest, he was serving time in New York’s notorious Rikers Island prison, where he reportedly received the object from his girlfriend, Kimberly Rousseau.

The 22-year-old pleaded not guilty after he was indicted on perjury, weapons possession and promoting prison contraband charges in July, 2015.

If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.

On Tuesday (December 7), an assistant district attorney offered Shmurda a deal of one to four years in prison if he agreed to plead guilty to the felony, according to reports.

The plea deal offer comes two months after Pollard was sentenced to serve seven years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess weapons and possession of a weapon in October.

He was arrested during a police sting operation in Manhattan in 2014 and charged with counts of conspiracy to commit murder, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon and more.

Pollard’s other charges were dismissed as part of the plea deal and he was given credit for time served.

If he accepts the new plea deal, the sentence would likely run concurrently with his seven-year sentence.

He is due back in court next month (January 17).

Empire “The Unkindest Cut” Recap And Music Review (VIDEO)

The saying typically goes, “with friends like these who needs enemies,” but in the case of Jamal and the secrets uncovered at the end of “The Unkindest Cut,” it’s clear that “friends” have nothing on family when it comes to “Empire.”

As poor Jamal tries to valiantly face up to his PTSD trigger via Lucious, the man that he took Freda Gatz’s bullet for, Jamal only learns that it was in fact his own mother, Cookie who started the whole set of events that put the bullet into play in the first place.

Given the almost Shakespearean level of deception when it comes matriarchs, patriarchs and death via violent ends, one has to wonder if someone as artistically sensitive as Jamal will ever truly get over his PTSD now with all of these old Frank Gathers’ ghost bones flying out of the closet.

Empire Cast

But Jamal’s revelation wasn’t even the most scandalously dramatic turn in this episode. Lucious’ mama seemingly joined forces with Tariq and the Feds to hurt Lucious – only to show her double spy status in a strangely intimate mother son tie dance.

Annika and Lucious got seriously freaky in some foreplay that involved the wanton destruction of numerous priceless artifacts (save the one that was the most p######) and finally one rich white girl woke up with all of her Marsha Brady grade straight hair cut off and lying around her in bed like that bloody severed horse’s head in “The GodFather.” Yes, when it came to dramatic plot lines this week’s “Empire” did not stutter when they took it all the way to the wall.

However, were the musical selections equally as good in their badassery? If we are honest, it was a mixed bag.

First, things started off with Tiana practicing a pretty basic signature number. It was chocked with all of Tiana’s usual stuff, but it was really just elevator muzak for Cookie, Angelo and Diana to show their happy boyfriend, girlfriend, boyfriend’s mama trio deal while giving Gina Gershon time to add her special brand of high-class brittleness as the racist fashion mogul Helene Von Wyatt of HVW Fashion.

While the song itself was unremarkable, Tiana’s tirade after the face was a tidy art imitates life masterpiece in sly shade. As Tiana, played by real life pop personality Serayah rips on HVM Fashion, saying that Helene is only collaborating with “Empire” to improve her image after a “wack ass out of Africa Collection that had no black people in it,” one can only wonder how Serayah’s real life famous friend Taylor Swift felt about this bit seeing as Swift has a certain wack ass “Out of Africa” music video herself. Go ahead, “Empire.” We see what you did there.

Next, courtesy of Andre “fixing” Miss Von Wyatt’s “whites only” aesthetic to something more ethnically diverse via a middle of the night chopping off all of Helene’s daughter’s locks, Nessa replaces Tiana as HVM Fashion’s new musical headliner. While it was a guilty pleasure to see Nessa singing “Black Girl Magic” in resplendent living color versus a whitewashed HVM palette, one has to admit that the 180 degree turn was a bit of an overreach in last minute couture plausibility.

Nessa does perform the song beautifully, but the segment gets a bit repetitive due to a lack of lyrical complexity. Case in point, while the celebration of black hair is a starting point, Black Girl Magic has always been about more than just hair. The narrow concentration on hair with the multitude of intercut images of black women with different hair styles started to feel a bit more Dove hair commercial campaign versus a great “Empire” single. Good effort, but it needed more to live up to the “magic” in it’s name.

Lastly, the best musical performance of the night was appropriately the most cutting. Jamal’s accusatory song to his father, “Heartless,” set to the same home movie footage used for last week’s musical ode to Cookie shows just how differently a child’s estimation of their two parents as individuals can be. As a sample of Jamal’s new album, “When Cookie Met Lucious,” one can only hope that Jamal can pull himself together long enough to finish it – familial repercussions be damned.

“Empire” airs Wednesday nights at 9/8 central on FOX.

Young Thug Addresses Calling Female Airport Employees “Ants,” “Peasants” & “Bums”

The rhymer also known as Jeffery can be heard calling the “rude” women “ants,” “peasants,” “bum ass hoes,” and “ugly donkey.”

2016: Kathleen Cleaver Talks Black Panthers, Afeni Shakur And Warrior Women

Kathleen Cleaver

(AllHipHop Features) The year 2016 will forever be infamous. There was widespread, blatant acts of injustice that harken back to a day many thought was dead. Black People quietly celebrated with pride the 50th Anniversary of the Black Panther Party. Tragically, Afeni Shakur, one of the well-known members of the party, died suddenly, causing mass sympathies.

Kathleen Cleaver has weathered many, many storms as a revolutionary and one-time communications secretary for the Black Panther Party. The first female decision-maker in the party, Cleaver was extremely courageous at a time when the Panthers were targeted by an illegal, clandestine governmental force called COINTELPRO (COunter INTELligence PROgram). The 71-year old continues to fight the powers through speaking engagements, scholastic efforts and building bridges with younger activists, among other endeavors. Chuck Creekmur briefly talked to Kathleen Cleaver at a New York-based dedication to Afreni Shakur earlier this year. Here is the conversation.

AllHipHop: Can you speak on Afeni Shakur, what she meant to the Panther Movement and your personal relationship to her?

Kathleen Cleaver: We were in the Panther Party at different times and different parts of the country. I was in the Panther Party in the beginning in California. And Afeni pointed out that they started a couple years later in New York. They kind of knew what to expect when the crash came. We didn’t. (Laughs)

My contact with Afeni was very limited when I was in the United States, because I left in ’69 to go to Algeria, where Eldridge was (Eldridge Cleaver was one of the leaders of the BPP). Panthers New York didn’t start until about that time. But we had close ties after the party was split. Algeria and New York were on the same side. And so, the connection between the New York Party and the Algeria section, put me and Afeni in contact. And then, years after the party, Afeni and I were getting together with a group of women – retreats for Panther women.

AllHipHop: What would you say her legacy is?

You can’t separate her legacy from the Panther Party, from the trial of the New York 21, from being woman leader, from being a very beautiful woman. She was extremely dark and challenged these notions about who could be a leader, who could be beautiful. Which she was both. And we knew that, but that wasn’t how society would have portrayed her. She was a path-breaker in that sense. She was a parent. She was a very intelligent and sensitive person who was also a revolutionary. She also had a lot of personal issues that she had to resolve.

And so, she had a lot on her plate. She had a brilliant mind. And she was an extraordinary person.

AllHipHop: You guys came from such a strong lineage of warrior women. How do you feel about the movement today, as it relates to today?

The era in which we were warrior women was an era of war. It was the era of Viet Nam. We were not in a position to advocate for peace, because we were under attack. It was no dispute that we were under attack and the United States was in a very, very vicious war in Viet Nam. That is no longer the case. And so the movements here may take positions and have policies that we would not have used because our time, they wouldn’t have helped us.

AllHipHop: I want to say I thank you for all that you’ve done for Black people and I salute you.

Thank you.

Prosecutors Won’t Charge Russell Crowe For Azealia Banks Hotel Incident

(AllHipHop News) According to reports, Russell Crowe will not have to face battery charges for a physical altercation with Azealia Banks.

The Academy Award winner was accused of assaulting Banks, calling her a “n-gger,” and spitting on her dat the Beverly Hills Hotel in October.

Crowe admitted to removing Banks from his suite after she allegedly threatened guests at a party.

A charge evaluation worksheet from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office determined a jury would likely “find the physical escort out of the room was justified to prevent the imminent violence threatened by Banks.”

Several witnesses apparently told authorities Banks was drunk or high on drugs.

The “212” performer was brought to the gathering by Wu-Tang Clan member RZA.

RZA did acknowledge Crowe spit at AB, but he said Banks physically attacked the Gladiator actor.

Jim Jones Talks Possibly Reuniting With Dipset For Another Album

(AllHipHop News) Despite the public back-and-forth with Cam’ron, Jim Jones still wants to see The Diplomats get together for another album.

Jones sat down with DJ Whoo Kid, and the conversation included the “We Fly High” rapper discussing the future of Dipset.

“I would love to do a Diplomat album, above all the bullsh-t. That’s just me thinking about what I would like to see happen,” said Capo.

He added, “A lot of fans want that. Let’s just hope, by the grace of God, we can get it done before our time of being still cool is over.”

Hol’ Up: Is Game Vs 50 Cent Back?

(AllHipHop Rumors) Ignoring Soulja Boy’s beef antics can be hard when his big bro is 50 Cent. I was all ready not to give him no more time – at least with these rap beefs. So, the other day The Game’s manager Wack 100 jumped in to ride for Migos’ Quavo. Well, you know that 50 Cent loves the drama. I think this could very well lead back to 50 Cent vs The Game. We are one statement away from full-fledged war! I don’t want to see this break out, because The Game and 50 will just get boring and or violent.

50 Cent said he will kill all of SB’s foes for his baby bro.

Swizz Beats Calls Out New York Producers & Rappers

(AllHipHop Rumors) Swizz Beatz wants the answer to a question a lot of us have been wondering: what TF has New York been doing lately in Hip Hop.

For a while New York was accused of losing it’s way and it’s “sound”, and some of the rappers from New York not even sounding like they were in fact, from New York. Some have blamed it on a southern takeover of mumble rap diluting the game.

Folks are rocking with Dave East, Young M.A., and a handful of others, but when will New York make a complete comeback? Clearly we see the New York legends dipping in and out, but does Swizz have a point?

Swizz says he gave y’all New York rappers and producers a chance to come in, but now he’s going to just have to take over and bring the heat back.

“I just don’t understand what New York’s been doing. I’ve gave y’all a lot of time producers….everything. I’m not no King or nothing like that you know. How y’all let New York get to this point. I was at Harvard; I’m doing art. I just can’t take it no more.”

The good news is Swizz Beatz is also back in the studio working on DMX’s new album. Every time I see DMX and Swizz together in the studio, I get mad hype, but is it just me, or does it feel like we get this announcement every 6 months. I guess I’ll be gassed when it really comes out.

Beyoncé Named Finalist For Time Magazine’s “Person Of The Year” 2016

(AllHipHop News) It has been a big week for superstar vocalist Beyoncé.

After collecting the most nominations for the 59th Grammy Awards on Tuesday, Beyoncé has also been named a finalist for Time magazine’s “Person Of The Year” honor.

The Lemonade album creator was listed as the #6 most influential person of 2016 by the long-running publication.

Elle.com editor-at-large and former MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry wrote an in-depth article about Bey and her contribution to culture.

Perry wrote in part:

With Lemonade—an album, an Emmy-nominated film and, as America looked on, an experience—Beyoncé publicly embraced explicitly feminist blackness at a politically risky moment. For three years, the stream of cell-phone videos of fatal encounters between African Americans and local police sustained a national controversy that, in some quarters, came down to a choice between one and the other. She chose blackness even as many Americans rejected it, taking sides and never wavering.

President-Elect Donald Trump was named 2016’s “Person Of The Year.”

The cover line for the feature on the businessman-turned-politician reads, “Donald Trump: President of the Divided States of America.”

Hillary Clinton (#2), internet hackers (#3), Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (#4), and The CRISPR Pioneers (#5) were also included as Time “Person Of The Year” finalists.

Everyone Isn’t Excited About Drake’s Grammy Nods!

(AllHipHop Rumors) Every year Grammy nominations bring their share of excitement and dissappointment.

When it comes to Drake and his Grammy “Album of the Year” and “Best Rap Album” nods for his 4X platinum, album, ‘Views’, everyone does not feel he is so deserving.

Despite the album’s popularity and commercial success, there are just some fans that Drake failed to win over.

Fans took to Twitter to express that they felt that there were a list of albums more deserving [to be nominated] than ‘Views’. One fan, @ChrisShoots, event went as far as to say fans and The Academy are now confusing popular with good.

Drake clearly has a huge fan base that was more than ready to clap back on Twitter about the negativity.

A fan, @nine3michellem tweeted,

“Everyone on the TL saying Views trash but any song off Views comes on and they know it word for word lol.”

Another Twitter user, @_LadiesLoveTone, said,

“Views trash but it went platinum 4x. But we got act like y’all wasn’t tweeting the lyrics & using them for IG captions.”

Peope have been divided over the quality of ‘Views’ since it came out. Interestingly enough, some fans feel that the 6 God still doesn’t have a landmark or game-changing album. What are your thoughts? Was ‘Views’ overrated?

Travis Scott Is Pretty Hurt Over Grammy Snub

(AllHipHop Rumors) Ahhhh man it looks like The Recording Academy counted the homie Travis Scott out!

Travis isn’t too happy about not being nominated for a Grammy this year for his album, ‘Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight.’

The Vice President of A&R at Epic Records, Sickamore, posted a photo of a sad Scott looking at his phone with a caption that read,

“Reading the grammy nominations like….”

Travis eventually commented on the picture saying,

“So hurt man”.

Brocky Marciano, DJ Mustard and more expressed in the comments that they indeed felt Scott had been snubbed.

What are your thoughts? Was Travis Scott unfairly snubbed?

Is Kim Kardashian Planning To Divorce Kanye West?

(AllHipHop Rumors) The Kardashians, I mean The Wests have certainly had a tough year.

With Kim Kardashian’s Parisian robbery, and Kanye West’s mental breakdown and tour cancellation, it has been one hell of a year.

Rumors have spread that KimYe’s various family problems have been putting a strain on the marriage and on each individual personally.

Now a family friend is claiming that Kim K is wanting a divorce, only a few years after her lavish multimillion-dollar affair of a wedding to the rapper.

According to US Weekly, the Kardashian insider is claiming that Kim K isn’t rushing to take any steps towards the divorce yet as she wants to build a sturdy case for full custody of her and Ye’s kids, North, and Saint.

Say it ain’t so. It’s no way Kim K wants to leave her man and longtime friend while he’s down is it?

It has already been rumored that Kim and Kanye are staying in two different homes, but that was said to be a result of Kanye’s needed rest, recovery and medical treatment.

The source claims that Kim won’t make any final decisions until Yeezy Yeezy is fully recovered, however she’s allegedly felt trapped for a while.

I always thought they were perfect for each other and equally egotistical. Hopefully Kim stays down for her family. Get well soon Ye.

Future Trolls Desiigner Over Ferrari Lawsuit

(AllHipHop Rumors) Future always seems to have time to mock and troll the hell out of Desiigner!

My gosh Atlanta rap star Future is so petty, and he’s clearly still not over Desiigner “stealing” his sound.

If you ever want to know how Future feels, all you have to do is go on his Snap Chat for his subliminal and timely shots at others.

Desiigner was all smiles yesterday celebrating his first Grammy nomination, but Future had to dim his shine by seemingly throwing shade about Desiigner’s Ferrari lawsuit.

Maybe Future is feeling some kind of way because the Brooklyn teen also beat him out for a nod period.

As you know Desiigner is being sued by a rental car company for allegedly wrecking a Ferrari. The company is taking him to court and suing him for $500,000.

Future couldn’t resist the petty itch as he took to Snap Chat to post a photo of his Bentley, letting his fans know that he doesn’t do rentals.

LOL. All shade!

Sean Barnes Steps Up Where Others Step Back

“I wear a crown on stage to remind my people we are all kings and queens,” says Sean Barnes. The word “hotep” took a beating if you subscribe to Euro-centric adoptions of real Egyptian theology. Thankfully, Sean Barnes is not one of those artists. He’s got a new song “Hotep (No peace until we get a piece).” The bouncy song includes modern news clips of Donald Trump, Angela Davis, The Black Panthers and national marches in protest of injustice.
