“Yo! MTV Raps” Co-Host Doctor Dre Goes Blind; Pitches Reality Show On Battle With Diabetes

(AllHipHop News) Former Yo MTV Raps! co-host Doctor Dre is pitching a reality show that will document his fight with diabetes, which has cost him his eyesight.

According to a recent interview with the New York Times, Doctor Dre opened up about his lifestyle and his eating habits while out on the road, when he was young and touring.

Doctor Dre was Ed Lover’s personable, hefty, sidekick. Unfortunately, the DJ, formally named as Andre Brown, developed Type 2 diabetes at 42, because of his poor diet.

As a result of his battle with diabetes, Doctor Dre is legally blind, has lost one toe and suffered from numerous ankle injuries associated with being overweight.

“My stubbornness put me where I’m at,” Doctor Dre told The New York Times. “Now my energy is going to change that. We got young people, grown people, old, all having this. We can prevent this. We can cure this. I have an idea how to do it.”

Doctor Dre hopes his upcoming weight loss surgery will help ease some of his symptoms.

In order to share his experience fighting the disease, Dr. Dre is pitching a reality show with former Def Jam executive, Bill Adler.

Bill Adler blasted some of his connections in the music industry for not taking to Doctor Dre’s positive reality show concept immediately.

“These are people I’ve known for 30 years, and they haven’t gotten back to me,” Bill Adler fumed. “Dré just wants to share his enthusiasm with people. There are plenty of other folks who star in reality shows who are plainly narcissists, who are convinced every absurd thing out of their mouth has to be captured by a television camera. That is not Dré.”

The State Property crew seems to be going at it again. Beanie Sigel and Oschino have been at odds over money amounts that each crew member is supposed to be paid. Demrick Lands Verse From Casey Veggies

Demrick returns with a new song featuring a guest appearance by none other than Casey Veggies.

The song “Different Day” is the follow up to Demrick’s songs “Freak Show” and “Back In The Daze,” both taken from his new album Collect Call.

“‘Different Day’ was created from a very casual, yet real place,” Demrick explained. “I was sitting in the studio, and a few calls and texts had come through my phone that day that typically would’ve annoyed me. Rather than get annoyed, I was just in a mindset that wouldn’t allow me to get flustered on that particular day. The song feels exactly how I felt on the day I wrote it, which was stress-free.”

NYC Students Shine At Science Genius’ B.A.T.T.L.E.S. Rap Competition (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Hip-Hop can be used as an effective educational tool. The Science Genius B.A.T.T.L.E.S (Bringing Attention to Transforming, Teaching and Learning Science) Program proves elements of the culture are a powerful way to connect today’s youth with science curriculum.

Science Genius held its fourth annual rap competition featuring New York City students displaying their rap skills as well as knowledge of scientific subjects. Actor Derek Luke and music producer Bruce Waynne served as celebrity guest judges.

The students had to battle their classmates at their school in order to make it into the city-wide event. Seven acts were selected to compete as finalists.

Brooklyn Preparatory High School’s Freaks of Nature (Jaiyer Millington, Melshawn Richey, Mitch Hunte, and Kaison Samuell) won first place. The group’s energy-centered performance earned them the 2016 title of B.A.T.T.L.E.S. champions.

The Science Genius initiative was founded by Columbia University professor Dr. Christopher Emdin and legendary Wu-Tang Clan member GZA.

“The program was inspired by the brilliance of young people and the inability of schools to harness that brilliance and activate an interest and passion for STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics],” said Emdin.

Science Genius is also located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, St. Lucie, Florida, Houston, Texas, and Toronto, Canada. Emdin plans to expand the program to other cities around the country.

Mr. Vegas Says He Won’t Fully Diss Drake

Although Dancehall artist, Mr. Vegas has been very vocal about his disapproval of Drake shouting out Dancehall artists but not featuring them and taking from the genre, Vegas doesn’t plan on waging a full war against the 6 God.

Although he claims “Drake The Fake” (as Vegas calls him), is running with the wave, he says he won’t go against Drake because Drake has millions of fans and he doesn’t want to end up like Meek Mill.

Remember Mr. Vegas previously said Meek might have been right about Drake being fake, but Vegas says despite his longevity in the game he isn’t trying to get bodied by a singing n-gga. LOL.

(AllHipHop News) Tyler the Creator premiered some new music at his GOLF Fashion show over the weekend.

The founder of Odd Future opened his show at MADE LA fashion show, by performing a song that addressed his recent banning from Australia.

According to Pitchfork the unreleased song, titled “EGO,” not only references the the 2015 banning, but also called the Australian government for using his old rhymes as a reason why he shouldn’t be able to return to the country.

The rhymes from “EGO” reads:

“They said some old lines was offensive/I was young I can’t apologize for that s###/They took my fiction literature for literal/I ain’t no m###########’ criminal.”

Tyler’s verse states that he’s not as bad as his previous music proclaims him to be, and uses Donald Trump as the punchline to prove it.

Yesterday, the Los Angeles rapper told fans on Twitter that it was only for the show and just a throwaway.

During the Golf Fashion Show, Tyler also announced that he would be releasing a new collaboration with Adidas.
