Kimbo Slice, Dead At 42

(AllHipHop News) Kimbo Slice, one of the world’s most popular fighters, has died from a heart attack. He was 42.

The early reports state that Slice, real name Kevin Ferguson, died from a heart attack. Efforts to revive him failed.

Slice rose through the ranks of combat sports through an unorthodox method – backyard boxing. He was beloved and criticized at times for his unlikely rise in boxing and MMA. Nevertheless, he was a fan favorite in the UFC and eventually Bellator. Kimbo won his last fight at Bellator 149 in February 2016, but the highly publicized victory over rival Dada 5000 was reversed after the Florida native tested positive for a banned steroid.

A heavyweight in Bellator MMA, Kimbo stood an imposing 6-foot-2, weighing 225 pounds. Overall, he had a 5-2 professional record with four TKOs. Fans know, a lot of Kimbo’s wins were in unrecorded backyard brawls. Bellator’s Scott Coker expressed his condolences.

“We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family,” Bellator president Scott Coker said in a statement, calling Slice “Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man,” Coker said. “His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans, and teammates.”

Kimbo had six kids and a partner, Antionette Ray.

The details of his passing were not immediately known, but the pugilist was admitted to a hospital earlier in the day Monday. His condition was listed as “dire.” Later in the evening, multiple confirmations verified that the beloved warrior had died.

Kimbo Slice’s death comes on the heels of another fighter, Muhammad Ali.

O’Shea Jackson Jr. Isn’t Feeling The ‘Roots’ Remake

O’Shea Jackson Jr. seems to agree with Uncle Snoop in regards to his feelings on the ‘Roots’ remake. Snoop Dogg encouraged fans to boycott the new “Roots” as he felt filmmakers should create new material about the success of African Americans up to present day. O’Shea’s views on the remake seem to align. O’Shea Jackson Jr. says enough slavery already! There are more inspiring stories to tell!

“All respect to all filmmakers, but we do have stories of triumph. We don’t necessarily have to keep getting beat up in order to triumph and end up as a butler in the end of the series or movie,” said O’Shea.

O’Shea wants to get to a lot of other stories as a filmmaker himself. What are your thoughts? Did we need a ‘Roots’ remake, or should filmmakers have used those resources to tell other [positive] African American stories?

Troy Ave’s Manager Defends Violent Lyrics On New Song “Chuck Norris (Hoes & Gangstas)”

(AllHipHopNews) Troy Ave has been entangled in controversy lately and he may be in a bit more hot water after the release of his track “Chuck Norris (Hoes and Gangsters).”

The record showcases Troy rapping lines like:

Unofficial n##### always hate on the official/I ain’t that kind when I blow it, ain’t a whistle/I am that kind that stand over you with pistols/It is what it is and I feel no remorse/Been married to the game and we still ain’t divorced

The New York rapper already has his share of distress since being incarcerated for attempted murder and held without bond for his alleged involvement in a shooting at T.I.’s concert at Irving Plaza last month.

The incident left four individuals injured including – Troy Ave himself – and one person dead, Troy’s friend/bodyguard Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.

Ironically, Ronald McPhatter was laid to rest only a day before the release of “Chuck Norris (Hoes and Gangsters).”

In an interview, Troy Ave’s manager Hovain Hylton came quickly to his defense.

“The music is the music. The mixtape was scheduled to come out before any of the other things happened, and the only thing that changed is the title: ‘Freetroyave,’” Hylton said.

There is a widely documented history of prosecutors referring to Gangster rap lyrics as a method to demonize the accused, such as in the high-profile murder case of Lil Boosie’s legal troubles.

Boosie was ultimately found innocent but it was a trying experience for the rapper, who has since moved out of Baton Rogue and vowed to never live in the city again.

Troy Ave’s upcoming release “Free Troy Ave” was originally entitled “Real vs. Fake” and is due for release today.

The mixtape will include the controversial song “Chuck Norris (Hoes and Gangsters).” Give the track a listen below.

G2G Drops Episode 2 Of Investigative Docuseries “The Jimmy Rosemond Tapes”

(AllHipHop News) James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond may be serving a life sentence behind bars, but his story is still being told thanks to a documentary series focusing on the Hip-Hop mogul’s life.

The docuseries “Unjust Justice – The Jimmy Rosemond Tapes,” premiered in February on gotoground.com.

imageThe series is helmed by G2G’s Don Sikorski, who has done investigative documentaries on subjects like Black Mafia Family, the Hip-Hop police in New York, in addition to producing the popular “Black Ink Crew” reality show.

Sikorski and G2G’s latest effort focuses on the dramatic career of Jimmy Henchman, the former head of Czar Entertainment, which at one point managed artists like Game, Mike Tyson, Gucci Mane, Brandy, Mario Winans and others.

In the second episode of the 10-part series, Sikorski continues to present the executive’s rise and ultimate fall, in the entertainment industry.

For years, James Rosemond has been dogged by rumors that he helped set up rapper Tupac Shakur’s robbery and shooting at the Quad Recording Studios in November of 1994.

The rumors only intensified when the alleged shooter, convicted murderer Dexter Isaac, confessed to being the one who shot Tupac Shakur, but only after the statute of limitations to be prosecuted for the crime expired.

In October of 2015, Rosemond was convicted of leading a drug trafficking organization that sold hundreds of kilos of cocaine in and around New York City each month.

“I believe that government informants colluded with the United States Attorney, former prosecutor, Todd Kaminsky, and various media outlets, to convict Rosemond of these charges,” G2G’s Don Sikorski said. “My investigation is ongoing; however, at its core there are five components that confirm that Rosemond had a periphery connection to a crew of street hustlers and narcotic traffickers that operated as freelancers. He was NOT a criminal boss of an organized, continuing criminal enterprise.”

In 2015, James Rosemond was also convicted of ordering the murder of G-Unit affiliate Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher, who was machine-gunned to death in the Bronx in 2009.

Fletcher was supposedly one of several men who attacked Rosemond’s then 14-year-old son during a violent feud between 50 Cent’s G-Unit.

Despite his convictions, James Rosemond continues to maintain his innocence in both cases, which will be explored in upcoming episodes.

EXCLUSIVE: Bishop Nehru Addresses Nas’ Involvement With His Debut Album After Split From Mass Appeal Records

(AllHipHop News) Back in 2014, Hip Hop luminary Nasir Jones called rising emcee Bishop Nehru the “future of music.” Nas later announced the teenager was one of the first acts signed to his new Mass Appeal Records, and Esco planned to executive produce Bishop’s debut studio album.

Bishop has since cordially parted ways with Mass Appeal, but the New York native is still working on the completion of his first LP. Currently, Nas’ contributions to the album will remain part of the project.

“While I was working on it, he was getting involved in stuff already. I think it’s pretty much finished, so I guess his involvement is already done,” Bishop tells AllHipHop.com. “There’s a couple more tracks that I personally want to add. I guess his involvement is pretty much done with everything.”

As Bishy Chulo puts the final touches on his album, he recently kept his fan base fed with Magic 19. The success of his fourth solo effort could help determine if the 19-year-old signs another deal in the near future.

“The album, honestly, depends on how things go with Magic 19,” says Bishop about whether his LP will be released independently. “I have a couple of people trying to get things done. I’m just trying to weigh out some options.”

Messy Matrimony: Love & Hip Hop’s Stevie J & Joseline Put Each Other On Blast

We don’t know which reality couple is worse these days between Benzino & Althea, Momma Dee & Ernest, or Joseline & Stevie J. Joseline and “Steebie” have been publicly slamming each other on social media all weekend. Stevie even went as far as to say he was never married to Joseline.

Joseline fired back saying Stevie sounded like a hoe by making videos claiming their marriage was fake instead of putting out music in the last two decades. Joseline even claims she rescued Stevie, Mimi Faust, and their daughter from sleeping in Mimi’s sister’s hot garage.

As if that wasn’t enough, Josline seemed to suggest that Stevie J was on the down low, and she has been threatening to expose someone on the cast who she claims likes to watch gay p###. Do you think she’s talking about Stevie? Oh yeah, Joseline has supposedly moved on to date Young Dro, and he too “joins the conversation.”

Did anyone think reality TV would last this long?!

Zulu Nation Marches On Behalf Of Child Abuse Victims

(AllHipHop News) Hundreds of people rallied and marched in New York City over the weekend, to protest the state’s sexual abuse laws.

Civil Rights activists that included disgraced child molester Jerry Sandusky’s stepson Matt (a victim of his own stepdad) and Queens Assemblywoman Margaret Markey, marched over the Brooklyn and into Manhattan on Sunday (June 5).

The Civil Rights activists were marching to support the Child Victims Act, which aims to change New York laws that prevent victims of abuse from bringing charges against their abuser, after the age of 23.

Among the marchers in the protest were members of The Zulu Nation.

The members of The Zulu Nation were marching to show solidarity with victims of sexual abuse, after the organization’s founder, Afrika Bambaataa, was accused of molesting multiple boys.

“We don’t tolerate the abuse of women and children in our communities,” said Rekae Medina, a member of the Zulu Nation.

The Zulu Nation came under fire in March, after former Zulu Nation member Ronald Savage did an interview with Shot 97’s Troi “Star” Torain, with claims that Afrika Bambaataa molested him when he was 14-years-old.

A number of other men started to come forward with similar accusations in the following weeks, leading The Zulu Nation to remove Afrika Bambaataa from the organization he founded in 1973.

The Zulu Nation’s appearance at the event follows fierce criticism of the way the organization’s old top leadership handled the crisis with Ronald Savage and his allegations.

The former leaders, who have also been removed from their positions, released statements dismissing Savage’s claims as a ploy for publicity.

The Zulu Nation also accused Star, the government and the New York Daily News of launching a conspiracy against Hip-Hop after they published Savage’s allegations.

Afrika Bambaataa also released a statement that was criticized, but he categorically denied any and of all of the allegations from his multiple accusers.

Vic Mensa Talks Donald Trump, Voting and More At Hip-Hop Caucus Panel

(AllHipHop News) Chicago born rapper Vic Mensa hosted an event with Respect My Vote today (June 6) in New York City, in an effort to engage young voters in the upcoming presidential election.

Last week, Vic Mensa announced a partnership with the Hip Hop Caucus (HHC) and their Respect My Vote initiative.

Today, the rapper sat down for a panel discussion with the HHC, fans and the media at Google at YouTube Studios in Manhattan.

There, Vic Mensa and HHC President and CEO Reverend Lennox Yearwood discussed the major issues facing this year’s election.

Vic Mensa noted the impact social media was playing, and not just for young voters, but also for candidates like Donald Trump, whose use of Twitter as a political candidate, has pretty much never been seen.

“This election is more in our digital age, with Donald trump – at first we were laughing but then we kept clicking,” Vic Mensa said about Trump’s unprecedented saturation of the media.

Vic said that it was important to stay cool in the face of Trump and those who support his ideological beliefs.

“What we have to do going forward, we have to talk to people they don’t agree with us so we can prove them wrong,” said Vic Mensa.

Reverend Yearwood implored young people to look beyond the 2016 election, in order to pick a candidate that will have a lasting impact for future generations, who face an uncertain future thanks to war, global economic instability and global warming.

“What we have to do for our generation – this is about us,” Reverend Yearwood said. “When climate change hits, Bernie, Hillary, Donald, (they) won’t be around. We know that our parents, they fought for equality. Our generation – we fighting for our existence.”

Vic Mensa recently dropped new music to get his fans attention. Copies can only be obtained by registering to vote at http://RespectMyVote.com/TAGO from now until July 4th.
