Talib Kweli Expresses Disappointment In The Zulu Nation’s Handling Of Afrika Bambaataa Molestation Controversy

(AllHipHop News) The accusations of sexual assault against Afrika Bambaataa continue to mount. After several men came forward to allege the “Planet Rock” performer molested them as children, Bambaataa’s own former bodyguard, Shamsideen Shariyf Ali Bey, stated he believed the Universal Zulu Nation founder potentially molested many more boys.

The Zulu Nation issued a statement about the controversy. The organization claimed the allegations were the result of a “U.S. government sponsored media attack.” The UZN specifically took aim at the New York Daily News and internet personality Troi “Star” Torain.

While many Hip Hop stars have chosen not to comment on the Bambaataa molestation accusations, Brooklyn emcee Talib Kweli took to Twitter to share his disappointment in the way the Zulu Nation addressed the situation.

“I have a great love for the contributions of the Zulu Nation to Hip Hop,” wrote Kweli. “But I’m disappointed in the way they are handling Bams accusations.”

Kweli also posted a link to a Tumblr post titled “Hip Hop Breaking the Silence: An Open Letter to Our Beloved Community.” Over four dozen individuals – including Rosa Clemente, DJ Kuttin Kandi, Julie-C & Jasiri X – signed the letter which calls on ending the cycle of abuse and dismantling rape culture.

In addition, the document asks supporters to sign a MoveOn petition that advocates working toward restorative justice and the healing of the Hip Hop community. The petition reads in part, “As a community we need to facilitate a process for those who are victims/survivors of abuse to help them heal and be made whole again.”

Afrika Bambaataa has repeatedly denied he sexually assaulted any children. The Hip Hop legend is reportedly considering filing a defamation lawsuit against Bronx politician/author Ronald Savage and other accusers.

Former Bodyguard Blasts Kanye West, Denies Having An Affair With Kim Kardashian

(AllHipHop News) The saga of the “fired” Kanye West bodyguard continues. Former NYPD police officer Steve Stanulis was hired to protect West and his wife Kim Kardashian, but he was supposedly sacked by the “Famous” rhymer for flirting with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star.

[ALSO READ: Did Kanye West Fire His Security Guard For Talking To Kim Kardashian?]

Stanulis spoke with the New York Daily News about being canned. According to the part-time Chippendale dancer, West was overreacting out of jealousy.

“I’m not having an affair with Kim Kardashian, I’m not f-cking Kim Kardashian, I’m not doing anything with Kim Kardashian,” said Stanulis. “Kanye needs to chill out.”

The entire ordeal apparently stems from Kardashian having a conversation with Stanulis on Monday night. He was at the Waldorf Astoria hotel to escort the couple to the Met Gala that evening. Prior to the event, the guard learned he would no longer be working for Kanye around 6 p.m.

Stanulis described Kim as being nice and gracious. However, his experience with her husband was the complete opposite.

“He’s the most condescending person I’ve ever met in my life,” Stanulis stated about West. “I’ve worked with a lot of people in his position and higher a lot less self-absorbed and more humble.”

Apparently, this was not the first time the two had issues. The ex-cop worked for the G.O.O.D. Music founder on several occasions, and they reportedly clashed at a fashion studio during New York Fashion Week earlier this year when Stanulis was seen speaking with Kardashian.

Kanye’s team claimed Stanulis was not fired by the artist. Sources in the camp insisted he was just a temporary hire for protection at the Met Gala and is now only speaking out for publicity.

Adrien Broner Endorses Donald Trump: “I Don’t Care. Let That Rich &*^! Be President!”

(AllHipHop News) – Yesterday, in an interview that is not likely to gain him much love or respect from a huge segment of fans, professional boxer Adrien Broner went on record via The Breakfast Club radio show on Power 105.1 to endorse Donald Trump.

The interview, which had taken some time to arrange, likely due in part to Broner’s time spent in jail this April for probation violations related to a drunk driving arrest in 2015, was slated to cover Broner’s much publicized feud with retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Broner’s recent indictment on charges of felony assault and robbery in regards to an altercation outside of a Cincinnati, OH bowling alley where Broner is alleged to have brandished a gun while beating and robbing a man over a gambling dispute.

During his May 4, 2016 interview with radio personalities Charlemagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee, when Charlemagne expressed disbelief that Broner, as a person “from the hood” would ever support Donald Trump, the boxer was quick to set Charlemagne, Yee and Envy straight. ” You a damn lie,” said Broner in direct contradiction to Charlemagne’s assertion that Broner would never be a Trump supporter, going on further to state that he would in fact be voting for Donald Trump.  When asked to explain the reason for this support, Broner firmly couched his affinity for Trump as financial – irrespective of any larger social effect or political detriment: “Everything he’s saying is crazy, but everything he says is correct though,” stated Broner, adding, “I don’t care.  At the end of the day the rich are going to get richer and the poor are going to stay poor. Oh well.”

Given these cavalier statements, one wonders if Broner will have the same aloof attitude towards the less fortunate if he ends up being found guilty on the charges of felony assault and robbery hanging over his head that could equal 26 years of hard jail time.

EXCLUSIVE: Mac Dre’s Mother Recalls Relationship With Afeni Shakur

(AllHipHop News) Just months ago AllHipHop.com reported an exclusive news story on Mac Dre’s mother Mac Wanda, where she spoke on her relationship with Afeni Shakur.

The two mothers had grown closer after both of their rapping sons were murdered at the hands of the game. In the interview Mac Wanda broke down her relationship with Tupac Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur.

She revealed that she’d spent some time with Afeni as they both tried to make sense of the loss of their sons.

“Afeni and I have become friends. She’s invited me to her home a couple of times and she and I have compared stories and notes on what our sons have gone through. She and her daughter continue to coach me in this business,” Mac Wanda explained to AllHipHop.com in March.

Mac Dre’s mother said the two spoke on a regular basis and help each other cope with their respective losses.

“Ever since Andre’s death it has grown and has not stopped growing. I’ve had to come out of my mourning and grief and handle the business, so I’ve been getting a lot of coaching from her on how to handle this. I haven’t talked to Biggie’s mother, but I talk to Afeni on a regular basis,” Mac Wanda said back in March.

Mac Dre’s mother said she identified with Afeni and her loss, which helped her find ways to cope with losing Mac Dre.

“The first time we met, we sat together just the two of us and we just talked about what she’s gone through and what I’m going through. She’s been where I’m going and for me to sit and listen to her tell me her story and the things she’s gone through, how she’s coped, I can totally identify.”

Did Kanye West Fire His Security Guard For Talking To Kim Kardashian?

Word on the street is Kanye West apparently fired his security guard for talking to Kim Kardashian. Ummmm apparently you can’t talk to Kim, especially when ‘Ye is around. According to New York Daily News, a source says Kanye just lost it and sacked Steve Stanulis when he saw him talking to Kim outside her Waldorf Astoria hotel room. Stanulius has protected the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Alanis Morissette and more. He also says there wasn’t any type of inappropriate talk or flirtation going on as he is a happily married man with three children. It has been said that Ye has strict orders that all security are not to talk to his wife or kids unless it’s in regard to security matters. If this is at all true, do you think Kanye is taking things too far?!

Empire Season 2 Episode 16 Recap *** Spoiler Alert ***

If per the old proverb, chickens are akin to curses, waiting patiently to make us pay for past bad deeds, some serious birds of prey are coming to roost with the airing of the sixteenth episode of “Empire” season two.  If it isn’t enough that most everyone on this show seems to gain two new ugly secrets for every piece of dirty laundry that is dragged out into the light, it would seem that for more than one of these characters they just might have gone way past any saving that a belated cleaning day might bring.  So with the obligatory SPOILER ALERT warning, let’s get into some of the best holy sh*t moments from yesterday’s episode:

Jamal(Jussie Smollett) gets involved in a hot and heavy sexual tryst with American Sound Awards’ musical director D-Major (Tobias Truvillion) on the down low. Some serious guy on guy action goes down between Jamal and D-Major, sparked up over Jamal’s issues with having to scrap doing one of his newer songs for the ASA awards in favor of performing a Lyon family anthem remix of one of Jamal’s older releases.  Seeing as Jamal has worked hard to be transparent with regards to his sexuality, D-Major is deep in the closet, the Lyon family’s ability to perform at the ASA awards is at D-Major’s discretion and lastly, Jamal seems to be a bit sprung on D-Major and this affair could go very very wrong.  Seeing as this is “Empire” it should be interesting to see how and when this news blows up and who subsequently gets pulled down under the rubble.

Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlin Doubleday) remembers that was was pushed down the stairs, causing her to miscarry and also recalls that her attacker was wearing Anika Calhoun’s (Grace Gealey) shoes.  Well, it was only a matter of time before this rewind on the true crime memory tip was due to arrive at the station.   Seeing as that sneaky Anika Calhoun is always keeping Rhonda too close in that way that Anika can’t shake the Lyons for wanting to be one, a near accident at Hakeem’s (Bryshere Y. Gray) home in Anika’s presence jogs Rhonda’s memory with regards to exactly what happened to her on the fateful night that she lost her baby.  And then of course, Anika is just bold enough, or perhaps stupid enough, to still own and wear the very shoes that the attacker wore when Rhonda was pushed down the stairs.  Do we know definitively that Anika did it?  No.  But Rhonda sure thinks she did and honestly if the shoe fits… well, let’s just say Anika might get acquitted, but just because it can’t be proved doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.

Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) brings Lucious Lyon’s (Terrence Howard) mother home, and she might be more dangerously psychotic than Lucious.  With Andre learning his grandmother’s whereabouts from journalist Harper Scott (Annie Ilonzeh), it was pretty clear that Leah Walker (Leslie Uggams) was going to have her face to face reunion with her son Dwight, aka Lucious Lyon.  Naturally, Lucious sent Thristy Rawlins (Andre Royo) out to exact revenge on Harper via an unceremonious drop on the bad side of town with Harper getting forcibly carried away by two thugs into the deep dark of the ghetto landscape. Nevertheless, when at the close of episode sixteen Lucious’ mama is brandishing a knife on Lucious and telling him she should have killed him when she had the chance, all while she is forcing him to eat cake…well, just maybe Lucious was right to have Dwight’s momma locked up in that nice home away from everything that Lucious has come to hold dear for all of those twenty plus odd years.

“Empire” airs on Fox on Wednesdays at 9:00/ 8:00 central.

50’s Offensive Post Towards Autistic Man Costs Him A $100K Donation To Autism Speaks

(AllHipHop News) Rap star 50 Cent has forked over $100,000 to the Autism Speaks foundation, after he unwittingly berated an autistic airport worker at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on Sunday (May 1).

50’s donation comes after the threat of a $1 million lawsuit over a post on Instagram and Twitter showing the rapper mocking Andrew Farrell, who suffers from Asperger’s Syndrome.

The backlash over the post was swift and immediate, even though 50 tried to take the offensive post down.

A boycott of EFFEN Vodka broke out in Cincinnati as a result of the video, several events scheduled in the region were abruptly canceled and 50’s corporate partners expressed their concern over the incident.

It was all enough to make 50 shell out the $100,000 donation.

“”I want to turn this misunderstanding into an understanding. There are people that are ignored, mistreated and neglected with disabilities that need our support,” 50 Cent told TMZ.com in a statement. “I am calling on my fellow musicians, actors, entertainers and all others who may not have fully considered this cause to join together to help in any way they can.”

Afeni Shakur: Three Black Panthers Remember The Multiple Sides Of The Revolutionary

Former Black Panthers Dhoruba Bin-Wahad, Sekou Odinga and Bilal Sunni-Ali jointly recollect the life, times and legacy of the late revolutionary matriarch Afeni Shakur.

Afeni’s passing in the year that marks the 50th anniversary of the Black Panther Party founded in Oakland California, is a significant socio-political marker in the marginalization of Black Radicalism in America. Her passing as a universally recognized Hip-Hop Madonna and mother of the iconic Black Rapper Tupac Shakur and daughter Setchawa, practically obscures the formative years of her life as a Black girl from the rural South, transfigured in the Southeast Bronx into a Black teenage Fem Fatale and “Deb” in the Bronx Street set, Young Disciples/Disciples Sportsmen, as well as her transition from the harsh streets of the Southeast Bronx to the radical Black Nationalism of the Black Panther Party and Black Radicalism of the sixties.

Like a silent movie reel, Afeni’s passing means that the Black Panthers of Afeni Shakur’s generation of Black Radicals, Revolutionaries, and activists are etched in Time by a media that portrays them as – “Forever Young” – while the conditions that nurtured their radicalism, and inspired the Freedom Dreams of Afeni’s generation, are reduced to hashtag militancy and posture politics. We should not forget that she was a revolutionary leader and spokes person for the Black Panther Party. Afeni’s real historical legacy, and ultimately to celebrate her Life depends on how we the living perceived that life.

The name Shakur further identifies her as at one with the legacy of the revolutionary family of the Shakur, Aba, Lumumba, Zaid, Mutulu, Assata, and their extended family of revolutionaries.

Because Afeni was one of us, one Verse in our generational bio-story who grew to adulthood during the “Cold War” of White America’s Empire, and White Supremacy’s Bloody domestic War on us, we not only mourn her passing but the marginalization of her “becoming” who she was. Across America, in every major Urban enclave populated by the descendants of Chattel Slaves, Freedmen and Women, a generation that would embrace Black Power, Black Self-determination, Black Pride that would typify the Civil and Human Rights struggles of the sixties and seventies came of age. Now Afeni’s generation time has passed, but not the legacy of their struggles, the radical legacy of the Afeni Shakur’s, Abdul Majid’s, Albert Nuh Washington’s, Zaid Shakur’s, are still accessible as long as their lives are not forgotten, or what made them who they became overlooked and ignored.

We Love you Dear Sister Afeni. Although you are gone you will never be forgotten. Long live the revolutionary spirit of Afeni Shakur!

LOVE,

Dhoruba Bin-Wahad

Sekou Odinga

Bilal Sunni-Ali

Sekou Odinga is a former member of the Black Panther Party and a political prisoner who served 33 years in prison before being released in 2014.

Dhoruba Bin-Wahad is a former member of the Black Panther Party and was also a part of the New York 21. He later served an additional 19 years in a separate case before being acquitted due to the use of COINTELPRO. Dhoruba won lawsuits against both the FBI and NYPD for their use of COINTELPRO. His case against the FBI led to a massive release of COINTELPRO documents.

Bilal Sunni-Ali is a former member of the Black Panther Party and musician. He was a member of Gil Scott Heron’s ensemble “Midnight Band” and is a celebrated saxophonist, composer and educator.

Khia Goes In On The Game Over Dissing Her & Defending Beyonce

“My Neck, My Back,” rapper Khia is always one for controversy and opinion! Recently she sent Beyonce’s Beyhive into a frenzy as she dissed Beyonce and her ‘Lemonade’ HBO special and album, as well as her Super Bowl performance. We aren’t sure if The Game is a huge Beyonce fan or if he just wasn’t here for Khia’s antics, but he drug her to hell and back for her comments. The Game said,

“B*tch don’t yo neck and yo back hurt. You got magazine pages taped to the wall. One droopy tittie bout to come out of a Target dress & them braids moonwalking off you edges & you on here talking bout Bey…. goin somewhwere auntie face.”

Khia has since responded in a long-winded rant saying,

“You trying to be a comedian, ’cause I want to know what made you jump your gay a– in a girl fight. I know you and Kanye West play sword fight with yall’s d*cks. Are you a crip or you a blood? You never protected the women in your family. I know you would disrespect me because you let your father beat your mother until her teeth were all over the living room, and you watched as he molested your sister, and you didn’t help her.”

This probably won’t end well.

Is Jay Z Recording An Album In Response To Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’?

Rumor has it that Jay Z may be in the process of recording a response to his wife, Beyonce’s, ‘Lemonade’. We wonder what he will call this answer to the album that has all of the women going crazy. The music mogul is supposedly recording his own version of the event. According to US Weekly,

“Jay is working on his album telling his side of things”

We aren’t sure if this is true or not, but it would make an incredible year of music, and it might even bring us another joint tour from the power couple. I honestly don’t even believe ‘Lemonade’ was completely a true testimony of problems in their marriage. It seems more like the two are marketing geniuses. Zendaya has even revealed that Jay was around for a lot of the filming of the ‘Lemonade’ special. ‘Lemonade’ just seemed to shine light on topics and themes that most women can relate to. Do you think ‘Lemonade’ was Bey’s truth or just another work of art?

Wiz Khalifa To Reporter: Don’t Ask Me About Kanye West (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Remember when Wiz Khalifa was involved in a very public Twitter feud with Kanye West over the album title Waves and comments about his family? It seemed the Pittsburgh native settled his issues with Ye, but Wiz still has no interest in discussing the G.O.O.D. Music leader.

Kanye was one of the most talked about celebrities at the Met Gala this year. His choice to wear blue contact lenses lit up social media with praise, confusion, and condemnation. Ye and his wife Kim Kardashian were also named the night’s best dressed couple.
