As many await the release of Purple Haze 2, it may the final musical project from the Harlem rap king. In a chat with Fader Magazine, he said he is “getting more focused on movies and television.” He is working on a sequel for 2014 Netflix film Percentage and a sitcom could be in the works.
(AllHipHop Reviews) There has been considerable debate about the New York Hip-Hop scene and the arguable degrees of relevance. Folks like J. Cole and Kendrick are present the game with lyrics. The South continues to be dominant with style, swag and party songs. Then, other regions like Canada offer mighty forces like Drake. The gods of New York such Diddy, Jay and 50 Cent don’t have the same foothold on in the culture as they once had, even though their business is on point.
Enter Torae’s Entitled.
Tor’s bringing that which people claim to want. Lyrics. Check. Beats. Check. Chutzpah. Check. The New York native speaks on it on “Get Down.” “Been a minute, the city back on its sh*t again / Let me find out they checking for who can spit again / While y’all was out there leaning and getting crunk / Being bout it and turning up / I ain’t never stop with the pen and dig.” And thus, the tone is set.
Torae holds nothing back and unloads a full clip.
He brings Saul Williams on “Imperial Sound,” Phonte on “Clap Sh*t Up,” Mack Wilds on “Troubled Times” and even lyrical super heroes like Pharoahe Monch on “What’s Love?.” The pleasant surprise is “Crown,” the duet with 3D Na’Tee. The New Orleans fem fatale and the New York boom bapper exchange socially conscious bars in the guise of battle raps. There are other times where Entitled expands Tor’s range with the lovey-dovey “Override,” where he attempts – with limited results – to resurrect “the ’95 LL.”
Entitled is a truly enjoyable work. It is refreshing to hear lyrics and bars, beats and rhymes and Hip-Hop that has something to say beyond the party-drenched faux-reality drivel we’ve been subjected to. Furthermore, hearing New York – the one-time center of Hip-Hop culture – feeling like NEW YORK again is a pleasure. Hopefully, the people, the companies and the web sites support the art.
(AllHipHop News) It seems like DJ Khaled is living the life right now, the successful way. He went from DJ to motivational speaker in a matter of snaps and now he can add principal of a middle school to the list.
The Twittersphere went crazy in support for Khaled after the Miami Dade county school system tweeted that Khaled would be calling the shots for the day.
Aside from delivering the hottest morning announcements in the history of Carol City Middle School, Khaled performed a special version of All I Do is Win in a schoolwide assembly and sat for a live interview. In obvious Khaled fashion, he dropped some major keys to success on the youngsters.
As principal, Khaled made major upgrades in the cafeteria. He got rid of the school’s normal lunch and served free food from his own restaurant Finga Licking. He also rewarded students for their high attendance rate with 10 grand for the music program.
Khaled’s appearance was made possible by the Get Schooled program in which they enlist artists to help to encourage students to pursue higher education.
The day ended with principal and Snapchat King Khaled gifted a key to the city.
We all know that Hip-Hop is entertainment, but with the Migos’ new tape Y.R.N. 2 making it’s rounds – some fans on the internet are letting it be known that they don’t like the message in the new song, “Plan B.” People have long since had a problem with the misogynistic nature of some rapper’s lyrics, dating as far back to 2 Live Crew and their antics. But after Rick Ross got in trouble for putting “molly all in her champagne” should the Migos get off so easy for forcing a woman to take a Plan B pill? Have you ever been in this situation? Comment and sound off below! You heard it here first!
(AllHipHop News) BET claps up Stacey Dash like a Jay Z video.
When did Stacey Dash become such a d#####? Here is what she said:
The Clueless actress did not mince any words. When speaking on the Oscars she matter-of-factly stated, “We have to make up our minds. “Either we want to have segregation or integration.” That blunt assertion was the segue into Dash diplomatically sharing her stance on the need for channels like B.E.T. that celebrate African-American heritage.
She continued, “And if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re Black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.”
(AllHipHop News) Corey “C-Murder” Miller lit the internet on fire when he released his diss song directed at Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz. The “2 Stainz” track featured TRU-Bossalinie Records artist Vs dropping some bars as well.
AllHipHop.com spoke with Vs over the phone, and the New Orleans native explained why he and C-Murder felt the need to call out 2 Chainz over his use of the T.R.U. tag. According to Vs, he met 2 Chainz in Louisiana years ago, and the Based on a T.R.U. Story album creator apparently expressed he was a fan of C-Murder and his brand.
“I never seen him with nothing T.R.U. on, but I did pay attention to the way he was all goo-goo eyed at the logo. Our logo has a certain appeal to it. I seen it in his eyes,” says Vs. “It seemed like right after Corey went to jail on that last time he got convicted [2 Chainz] looked at C-Murder with that life situation as an early retirement, and he thought he could run with it.”
TRU-Bossalinie Records Artist Vs
Vs and C-Murder apparently reached out to 2 Chainz, but they felt the Def Jam recording artist ignored their complaints about him biting the T.R.U. logo. While Chainz and Miller have spoken about the situation since the release of “2 Stainz,” Vs warns that matter is not necessarily settled completely.
“I just hope he stays under the radar, and he’s as solid as he says he was on the phone. And he don’t try and go out there and make himself look big and start slick dissing,” states Vs. “That’s only gonna put him in another situation, because right now we got off his ass just on grounds that it came out of his mouth that he didn’t really feel that way and wasn’t really trying to steal it. For all the fans out there, that’s what they need to know. He wasn’t cutting up on the phone. He was talking real f*cking nice.”
Vs adds, “We ain’t even gonna dwell on the situation no more. Unless he does something weird to try and make himself look good. Then he ain’t gonna be able to come back from that, and we ain’t gonna give a f*ck.”
2 Chainz continues to flex his confidence and demonstrate his maturity. Today (Jan. 20), the assured entertainer posted an informative screenshot to his personal Instagram account. Within the message, the Hair Weave Killer explained that a misunderstanding is what propelled the “2 Stainz” diss track from, C-Murder.
Last Tuesday (Jan. 12), the incarcerated Louisiana rapper dropped the seemingly unprovoked attack aimed at Tity Boi. The Georgia native has made a contemplative comment concerning the situation. Since then, someone associated with C-Murder’s camp reached out to explain the situation to 2 Chainz. “He gonna do a press release to say that it was a misunderstanding and miscommunication,” wrote the source.
Personifying progress, 2 Chainz is on a quest to share his music and to use his resources to help reinforce his community. The dates for the Watch Out four were recently released to his supportive public. Besides sharing sixteens in the studio, with the assistance of his T.R.U. Foundation, 2 Chainz helped to bless an Atlanta family of 11 with a brand new home.
“For y’all in my comments it’s all Good, communication is ?….most ppl don’t listen to understand they listen to reply …let’s Build that’s what it’s all about. Much Luv to C Murder,” was his personal response to the situation. C-Murder’s camp went on to add, “He doing an interview tonight at 7:30 to handle it.”
Safaree recently went on a Twitter rant, and one can’t help but to wonder who he is talking about. Safaree said he’s been playing the nice guy for far too long, and people don’t respect the humble guys. He feels that if he starts making noise to get people to realize he isn’t playing anymore then they will trip. Apparently someone has been threatening Safaree as well as he tweeted,
“It’s funny how ppl w/money don’t have the balls to handle sh*t themselves but wanna have n*ggas calling n threatening me..Grow the f*ck up.”
Safaree also says,
“It ain’t about fixing sh*t don’t muthaf*cking hit me bout sh*t! I’m smart I don’t fight stupidity. I’ll leave that up 2 the ignorant n*ggas.”
Who is Safaree talking about? Could it be Nicki Minaj? He said it’s not about fixing things, but he also said he feels she still needs to pay up and give him his credit. We wonder who is communicating threats to Safaree. Hmmm.
(AllHipHop News) Earlier today (Jan. 20), Stacey Dash visited Fox News’ Fox & Friends. Dash, a self-assured political commentator would go on to make some bold declarations. She and host, Steve Doocy would have a lively dialogue. The conversation covered contentious topics like the Oscar nominations, the necessity of Black History month, and the suggestion to remove BET from the air.
As the convo continued Dash would then challenge the need for Black History Month. “Just like there shouldn’t be a Black History Month. You know? We’re Americans. Period. That’s it,” she stated.
That’s not all. After the host, Steve Doocy, asked Dash to confirm that she wants BET axed, she added that Black History Month should go down with it. Soon Doocy would reinforce her stance when he questioned, “Are you saying there shouldn’t be a Black History Month because there isn’t a white history month?”
It looks like Tyler Perry has cast Tyga to star in his new movie, ‘Boo! A Madea Halloween’. Seeing that Tyga doesn’t seem to be the best actor, Tyga’s role would be much more interesting if Perry’s pulls inspiration from all of the scandals and issues plaguing his real life such as his music, young girls, taxes, unpaid rent, side chicks, transgender women, Kylie Jenner.. you know. Will you go out and see the film?

Perry announced his new movie during a guest appearance on The Real daytime talk show on Tuesday.
If when you were a kid and you made millions of dollars on a hit song that swept the nation, you would be a completely different person. The fortune and fame impacted Soulja’s life in ways we can never imagine, but it looks like the young homie is growing into his own right in front of our eyes. His whole life has pretty much been documented in front of us, but he’s set to reach his fifth release from his King Soulja series and its hard to argue against this being his best yet.
Last week (Jan. 13), an aspiring Florida rapper was taken to the slammer. The Palm Beach County School District Police arrested Volvique Louis Jean Jr, on suspicion of reckless driving, this according to the Sun Sentinel. Police reports reflect that Jean Jr’s vehicle was stopped after it was reportedly witnessed speeding into the bus loop at Atlantic Community High School.
Volvique is a former student from that high school. Officers contend that Louis’ vehicle was being followed by two other erratically driving cars, which almost smashed into students. Employing a top flight golf cart, some astute officers forced Louis’ car to pull over. Soon a copper would request Jean Jr’s identification. Facing the pressing situation — Louis who was driving with a suspended license — decided to present his mixtape to the officer.
Next, it has been proclaimed that Louis turned into Speed Racer and zoomed away from the scene! Jean Jr., was eventually arrested on that same day. He was charged with trespassing on school grounds, driving on a suspended license, eluding, and reckless driving. Luckily, Louis was released from jail on the same day of his arrest.
So far, the rap name on the mixtape has not been released. Was this an intricately choreographed publicity stunt?
Future had a pretty amazing year in 2015 with No. 1 albums, his ‘Dirty Sprite 2 Mixtape’, his collaborative effort with Drake, ‘What A Time To Be Alive,’ and more. He’s also had a successful run with singles and features with some of the best in the game. Future recently gave the Future Hive a treat with his ‘Purple Reign’ mixtape. Now he wants the hive to know that he’s not done yet. Apparently he’s just getting started as he tweeted,
“Ain done yet pre warm up…. get ready.”
Who’s ready for some more new Future music? What do you think has been the key to Future’s success? Why can’t other rappers “heat up” like Future? Did you like ‘Purple Reign’?
A fan in Tampa, F.L. was pretty upset with Young Thug for reusing to take a pic. The woman confronted Thug at Westshore Plaza calling him gay for deciding not to take pictures with his fans. The woman also said,
“Why you acting like that Thugger. We support you in Tampa.”
Thugger’s crew wasn’t feeling the woman’s insults as one guy said,
“I’m going to come holler at you; you talking about someone a girl gay and all we got guns we don’t give a f*ck who real and who not… you not finna talk like that.”
The woman tried to tell Thug’s crew that she was upset because there were a lot of children crying wanting to take pics with Young Thug. We’d have to say that both of them handled the situation wrong.

Time to say something. Talib Kweli and 9th Wonder convene their Indie 500 team for “These Waters,” a song that features K’Valentine, Chris Rob, NIKO IS and poet jessica Care moore. The song is not the only way for folks to express themselves, but it certain is the preferred way to creatively fight bigotry, racism and oppression. Check out the video.
With a new book set to hit shelves, Rev Run and Tyrese took time out to speak with the Breakfast Club. In the interview we get an idea of what their lives are like now and how they became connected. From going to Home Depot to performing in front of legions of fans and winning Grammy’s, these guys are just trying to live normal. What’s wild is that Rev Run doesn’t see Tyrese as a little brother, he more so see’s him as a pseudo-Diggy in his life. They speak roughly 12 times a day and they both know what each other are trying to achieve. How did this friendship come to be? Check it here:
(AllHipHop Music News) Young Thug is back with more intelligible flames. Even if you hate the androgynous rapper, the beat by Issac Flames will sway listeners to the ways of the Thugger. On the song, Thug professes his heterosexuality: “I dress like a prince not a fag, mother f#####,” “No I’m not gay” and “I f**k hoes all over the world.”
We all know about Canadian Hip-Hop star Tory Lanez, but his new song with fellow Canadian Konfiident called “What You Know About Love” is a smacker that introduces you to a few new talents!
