(AllHipHop News) Earlier this month, Kanye West announced the video for his latest single “All Day” would be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Steve McQueen. The Chicago native surprised fans yesterday when he released his Brit Awards performance of the track as the “first official” video.
Ye has a history of creating several visuals for one song. His breakout hit “Jesus Walks” had three different versions. Kanye also film three “Flashing Lights” videos. Two of those clips were leaked to the Internet without West’s approval.
(AllHipHop News) DJ Quik is a legendary representative of West Coast Hip Hop. The “Born and Raised In Compton” rapper did an interview with Montreality where he discussed other famous Californians connected to the culture. One of those stars was the late Tupac Shakur. Quik was asked about the ongoing conspiracy theories surrounding 2Pac’s life and death.
“There’s no conspiracy when it comes to 2Pac. The reality is 2Pac had got disillusioned with the way business worked, not getting his full respect, not getting the money that he knew he deserved,” stated Quik. “He was like a business magnate and mogul in and off himself. But he was signed to somebody, so he couldn’t really shine the way he wanted to shine… I just don’t think Suge took care of 2Pac the way he could have.”
Quik went on to add that once Pac joined Death Row Records he became angrier and disconnected. While he placed some of the blame for Pac’s downfall on his association with Death Row, Quik did defend the label’s co-founder Suge Knight who is currently facing a murder charge for a hit-and-run incident.
“This seems like the time where everybody wants to be down on him, smash him, and [say], ‘Good for him,'” said Quik. “But this is the time when we shouldn’t. Obviously, he’s going through something physical and mental. This is when you embrace people.”
Death Row’s other founding leader Dr. Dre was part of Quik’s conversation as well. Last year Quik expressed being upset with Dre’s Beats Music when he thought his music was intentionally left off the streaming service. He later retracted his critical tweets and now has only positive things to say about Dre.
“I kind of lost my spirit when I lost my record deal,” Quik revealed. “I called Dre. He knew my situation. Dre don’t judge. Dre let me come to the studio and rock out with him.”
According to Quik, the two producers began working together on several projects including 50 Cent’s mega-smash “In Da Club” and Eminem’s Encore album.

Although Day 1 of Buku Music + Art Project was turnt in its own right, Day 2 was doper. Raury started the day off with a euphoric set featuring a live band. Following the ATLien was BadBadNotGood x Ghostface Killah with one of the coolest jazz/hip hop performances in recent time. BBNG performed a classic Isaac Hayes track before Ghostface hit the stage to perform some tracks off of their recent project Sour Soul. Hours later, Lil B hit the stage in a very odd fashion. The Bay rapper arrived with nothing but a himself, a white towel, and some water. Several fans sang hits including “Wonton Soup” and “Ellen Degeneres”, but the B continued to rap about how he was in New Orleans while shouting out several NOLA legends like Juvenile, BG, Wayne, the list goes on. The headliner this evening was EDM act Bassnector, who didn’t shy away from impressing hip hop fans and listeners by playing Erykah Badu’s “On & On” before throwing it into an extreme mix. Later, G.O.O.D. Beats producer Hudson Mohawke performed a DJ set featuring tracks from himself, Kanye West, and TNGHT: HudMo’s acclaimed collaboration with Canadian producer, Lunice. One of the final acts to perform was “Tuesday” star iLoveMakonnen, who performed several hits from “Don’t Sell Molly” to “Tuesday”. Makonnen also performed a new song on stage as well. Many spots may claim that their streets are no joke, but Brooklyn holds the crown when it comes to birthing intelligent hustlers. It’s a borough that has continued its “keep on taking it” ethos through its bevy of corner store soldiers and stick up kids. While some play up the facade in order to flex and live a lifestyle that isn’t theres, Saga certainly isn’t in that league. A street wise cat that you’d be a fool to test, he’s the perfect mix of lyrical talent and tenacity, which makes him an ideal candidate to represent the “City Streets”. Alongside the always thorough Roc Marciano, the duo speak truth over a foreboding instrumental composed by, Marco Polo. Visually, the emphasis of light contrasted with the heavy, tones throughout the various scenes display the shifty dynamic of the Brooklyn streets. “City Streets” is the debut leak taken from Saga’s, From Out of the Shadows FreEP, which is produced entirely by Marco Polo, and set to drop on March 31st…stay tuned!

SFPD Bayview division police arrested more than 20+ Black males during the filming of a rap video shoot for Bay Area rapper Young Lott. The videographer, Brian Storm, kept the film rolling when the shoot was stopped and what you will see is shocking, including police celebrating that there were parole violations.
Brian Storm filmed altercation and this is what he had to say…
“Young men in a poverty stricken neighborhood, purposely staying busy to stay out of trouble, gathered together to do something positive, creative, and productive and ended up being violently stereotyped and prejudged. When there are many murders in San Francisco, is something as harmless as young men shooting a video something almost the entire sfpd needed to be in one place, armed for? If this is the response for that, why is it that when we in poverty stricken neighborhoods need and or call on the sfpd, they do not show up? Food for thought.”
