“Never settle for anything less than you want,” sings PJ on her life-affirming Atlantic Records debut single. It’s a simple philosophy, but one often abandoned as dreams get discarded and visions altered.
Raised between North Carolina and Atlanta, the songs from this R&B gem reflect an intense drive and unyielding hope. They are inspirational and reach beyond the typical artist’s realm of conception.
Including writing credits on Chris Brown & Tyga’s ”B**ches N Marijuana” ft. ScHoolboy Q, B.o.B’s “Not For Long” ft. Trey Songz, Wiz Khalifa’s “True Colors” ft. Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill’s ”I Don’t Know” and Diggy Simmons’ “My Girl” ft. Trevor Jackson, PJ is quietly solidifying her place in the game as an elite songwriter and composer.

(AllHipHop News) Kanye West returned to The Breakfast Club for an hour-long conversation with hosts DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God.
The rapper/fashion designer addressed numerous topics including his statements about Beck’s Grammy win, his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose, the rumored relationship between his sister-in-law Kylie Jenner and Tyga, his upcoming film project featuring the Minister Louis Farrakhan, and a possible collaborative effort with Drake.
On the Beck Grammy controversy:
The other day I went to dinner with Taylor Swift. Ironically, they were playing the Beck album… Maybe they did it on purpose, so I could finally hear it. I was like, “Man this is kinda good”… Nah, I hadn’t even heard it [when I said Beyoncé should have won the Grammy for Album Of The Year]…
The Grammys still have a commercial component to it, and they wanna sell commercials. So they have these big superstars sitting in the audience and advertising their performing next to get views. You don’t have these people sitting here and having their hearts beating. We work too hard to deal with all that. We ain’t got time to be losing in a situation. Cause who’s winning? We ain’t getting none of that advertising money. That was my main point.
On racism:
We know there’s racist people. We know a lot of White men over the age of 60 are racist. We embrace that. We know that a lot of people that are in power, they’re like [former Los Angeles Clippers owner] Donald Sterling. We understand that, but the world is moving. Ten, twenty years from now every person of color, female, or any minority that comes into power will eventually shift it.
On Amber Rose:
She’s just soaking in the moment. Nobody is compelled to do nothing [in response to Amber’s criticism of Kim Kardashian]. If Kim had dated me when I first wanted to be with her, there wouldn’t be an Amber Rose…
It’s very hard for a woman to wanna be with someone that’s been with Amber Rose… I had to take thirty showers before I got with Kim.
On Tyga and Kylie Jenner:
I think he got in early. I think he was smart… They’re closer in age than a lot of relationships that I know.
On Minister Farrakhan:
I actually asked for the Minister to give me my BET Visionary Award. He felt like it wasn’t the right time. Right now I’m working on a documentary with him, about him, and about his music. He’s a classically trained violinist…
In the same way my wife got stamped with a sex tape, the Minister was stamped with [bigotry], and it’s important that while he’s still alive he sees the people appreciate his message. If you ever hear him talk, it’s about humanity, it’s about one race…
The documentary shows he had a White violin instructor. He talked about how because he was Black he couldn’t get the White instructor, and there was no Black instructors that could instruct him well enough. He talks about how he was asked to stop doing music. He had to choose between The Nation [of Islam] and music…
It’s a beautiful story about a beautiful soul that’s very misunderstood, and one of our most powerful messengers. It’s very important we protect and support our messengers.
On possible joint album with Drake:
I’m just gonna go ahead and say it, because maybe this will promote it happening. The “Wolves” song came from a conversation that me and Drake had where we was gonna do an album together. The album is called Wolves…
Me and Jay Z started talking about Watch The Throne, and Drake went and did all the records with Wayne and did the tour, and we never did [the Wolves album.] But I just put it in the ether, out in the world. Y’all don’t like it, then y’all can send it right back.
Kanye also announced his next solo album is 80% done and likely will drop as a “surprise” release. The so far untitled project will address social topics. He also squashed rumors his wife Kim K and Beyoncé do not get along.

In Milwaukee, a great foulness impregnates the air at all times, a direct cause of the all the s#### that nobody gives about it. But defying the odds, newcomer Klassik is steadily putting Wisconsin Hip Hop on the map. Over the last few years he has created a lot of buzz for himself, deemed the 2014 Top 10 Wisconsin Artist to Watch by JSOnline, 2013 WAMI Hip Hop Artist of the Year by Link, and 2012 Radio Milwaukee Artist of the Year. Klassik has already opened for the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Ludacris, and Talib Kweli just to name a few. With his eccentric blend of neo-soul and Hip Hop, Klassik sounds like a mix of Childish Gambino and Frank Ocean. Bridging an eclectic array of diverse styles, Klassik’s Spring EP is a thematically layered ode to everyone’s favorite season.
The main appeal in Klassik’s approach is how charismatic he is on the mic. At all times he dons the demeanor of an artist genuinely passionate about the music rather than someone looking for a check. Klassik proves as much on “Go Far,” the EP’s opener. The track is a tale of struggle as well as triumph, with the emcee giving brief autobiographical sketches about what caused him to get into music in the first place. Klassik’s harmonizing adds a further level of pathos than the bars themselves. “Know It All” is a bouncy, multi-tempo jaunt that recalls The Black Eyed Peas in the pre-Fergie days. On “Otha Fish,” Klassik flips a classic Pharcyde jam for an instrumental that succinctly captures the essence of the brief EP.
You can check out the Spring EP below, and if you are feeling it, make sure to track his movements on the interwebs.

(AllHipHop News) One of the big questions surrounding Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late was whether the project was a mixtape or an album. According to a report by HipHopDX, IYRTITL is an official album and will count as part of the contractual agreement with his record label Cash Money Records.
Kyle “KP” Reilly of Datpiff.com confirmed the information in a statement to the website. He also revealed the original plan was for the project to be a free mixtape, but a clash with Drake’s label led to If You’re Reading This being a retail release.
“Originally we were in talks to release it for free… and have DJ Drama host and even make it an official Gangsta Grillz… however the label was not in favor of that and they struck an agreement to release the project the retail route and it would count towards one of his albums,” said Reilly. “It was a mutual decision since he wanted to give it away. They [the label] said, ‘Hell no,’ not in those words, so they ‘agreed’ to do it this way as a middle ground and it would count towards his Cash Money deal album total. The label had zero input or creative control over If Youre Reading This Its Too Late.”
(AllHipHop News) The appropriation and exploitation of Black music has been a topic of conversation since the days of Jazz’s dominance. Recent years have seen the subject repeatedly brought up in Hip Hop circles. Atlanta-based producer Mr. Collipark offered his opinions about the issue in an interview with DJ Smallz Eyes.
“Black music has been f**ked. It’s f**ked, it’s raped, it’s w##### out from the core,” states Mr. Collipark. “From a street level all the way up to corporate. It used to be we could sit down here on the street level and be mad at corporate… Now 90% of the motherf**kers involved in Black music ain’t got no business here. That starts even with the DJs.”
Collipark goes on to discuss how a less talented performer with financial backing can reach a greater level of success than a gifted artist. In his eyes, a culture once focused on the music is now mostly concerned with making money.
The head of Collipark Music points to the decline in Hip Hop/R&B sales as evidence the quality of the work is not resonating with the public.
“The bad part about Black music right now? All of it’s s**t – most of it, 90% of it is literally s**t,” said Collipark. “Now I have actual lack of records to back it up. Before you could say, ‘He’s just hating.’ Black music ain’t selling. People are still buying what they give a f**k about.”
Mr. Collipark (aka DJ Smurf) played a significant role in the careers of Soulja Boy, Ying Yang Twins, V.I.C., and Hurricane Chris. He released his own album Versastyles in 1995 and the mixtape Can I Have The Club Back Please in 2011.
“I hope Black music gets to a point where it has to s**t out all the bad,” added Collipark. “Everybody needs to go get day jobs.”

(AllHipHop News) Troy Ave is preparing to release his album Major Without A Deal, but it appears the Brooklyn rhymer could actually have a major label deal in the near future.
“My goal is to get a joint venture like the Bad Boys, the Roc-A-Fellas, the Murders Incs, Ruff Ryders. I’m gonna do that, cause I’m from New York and I’m a young boss,” Troy reveals to Hot 97. “It’s all types of six-figure deals, but I ain’t bust a move yet. It ain’t no rush to bust a move, because we’re putting out dope records.”
There had been reports Troy was close to signing with T.I.’s Grand Hustle imprint. The “All About The Money” rapper explains that he and Tip are working together.
“T.I.’s the home team. We’re putting plays together behind the scenes,” states Troy. “T.I. is definitely influential in everything I do, but I got the number one independent label in the streets -BSB Records.”
Tip spoke about his connection with Troy on The Breakfast Club last October. The Atlanta native discussed why he respects Troy Ave’s approach to building his brand on his own.
“I will say he is definitely closely associated [with Grand Hustle]. The business part of it – we’re still working that part out,” T.I. said. “I respect him a lot for this – he’s making it a point to say, ‘Hey listen, I got to get a certain amount of the groundwork done myself.’ He don’t wanna just come in and have us do everything.”

(AllHipHop News) Bobbi Kristina Brown is still in a medically induced coma at Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital. According to CNN, doctors have decided to remove the 21-year-old’s breathing tube.
A family source tells USA Today the procedure is not any indication on the decision to take Brown off the life support ventilator. The breathing tube is removed to prevent the patient from getting an infection.
“If the expectation is she’s going to be on for weeks, months – who knows how long, the best way to deliver oxygen to the lungs is through the tracheostomy,” Lenox Hill Hospital’s Dr. Jordan S. Josephson tells USA Today. “It’s a protective measure. There may be a slight scar, but in most cases that’s it.”
Tracheostomy refers to the hole left in the throat after a surgical procedure to create a direct airway to the windpipe. Dr. Josephson says this will not affect Brown’s ability to speak.
CNN sources reveal doctors are attempting to slowly lift Brown from the coma. There has been no official update to her medical status, but Bobbi Kristina’s aunt Leolah Brown has stated her niece is doing better.
“There are so many signs showing us that she will be okay, despite what people are saying over the Internet,” Leolah said.
Bobbi Kristina, the daughter of musical artists Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her home on January 31. She was later taken to the hospital.
After the success of her Red Velvet Mixtape, singer, songwriter Justina Valentine teams up with producer Shy Boogs for the release of her new single, “Faded” off of her upcoming EP, Scarlet Letter.
Indian born and Houston bred artist Shank is about that Boss life. Teaming up with Slim Thug these two bosses roll the “Dice” with this banger.
Gerald Rivera went and p##### off Uncle Russell Simmons.
The Def Jam founder took exception to recent comments made by Geraldo that claimed rap music has harmed Black and Brown people that racism.
Russell objected.
“Geraldo, the prison industrial complex got people so twisted,” Simmons told TMZ. “For 40 years, they’ve been locking up diseased drug addicts, educating them on criminal behavior and dumping them back in the hood. The poetry and the reflection [in hip-hop] are what come from that jail culture; that’s obvious…The media is really dumb to let that man [speak]. He needs to be progressive and do good work to help people. And now he’s a talking head.”
On Huff Po Live, Geraldo said, “Hip-hop has done more damage to black and brown people than racism in the last 10 years.”
“And I love Russell Simmons,” Geraldo continued. “He’s a dear friend of mine. I admire his business acumen. At some point, those guys have to cop to the fact that by encouraging this distinctive culture that is removed from the mainstream, they have encouraged people to be so different from the mainstream that they can’t participate other than, you know, the racks in the garment center and those entry-level jobs, and I lament it. I really do. I think that it has been very destructive culturally.”
Not sharing in the affection, Simmons took the time to send one last dagger at the Fox News contributor.
“He lost on ‘[Celebrity] Apprentice,’ man, I can’t respect that,” Russell said. “After losing he needs to just talk. He needs to get himself relevant.”
Is this a case of damage control or some internet BS gone wild? We chilled on the Beyonce pics, I don’t know why. I guess neither I nor Kubeez got to it. Anyway, here is the boomerang. First of all, the site of origin has taken everything down. I found that interesting and that immediately made me think that B and the gang had sicced their hounds to pressure them to take the images down. But NO…apparently that is not the case at all. It seems somebody is claiming they photoshopped Beyonce older with bad skin…
Now, I can’t lie…that sounds weird.
I also can say that if Beyonce had that face or that skin in real life, we would definitely know. I mean, for goodness sake, she and Jay Z are stalked everywhere they go and are examined like nobody in music. I’m going to say, as weird as it seems, I think this is probably accurate.
What I ain’t heard yet is an explanation or this:
Yikes!
I will say this, I have also seen several sites have removed this image. This is an artists clothing line and clearly a bad look for somebody such as Beyonce…coon clothing? NAH!
Saul Williams has been known to blow minds creatively, but he is taking it to new heights with his new song “All Coltrane Solos At Once.” Saul, a slam poet master, weaves a web that sews hip-hop and poetry together in a way that amazes the eccentric ear. “All Coltrane Solos At Once” has him talking about race, privilege and speaks on the unrest that continues to plague America. Martyr Loser King, his next album, is due in this spring.
I wonder why Mo’Nique was banned from Hollywood!
When this happens, you are about to blow all the way up!
It took Lee Daniels to reveal to Mo’Nique that she was banned from Hollywood, even though she proved she was a hell of an actor in “Precious.”
Peep what dude Daniels told her!
But I got a phone call from Lee Daniels…And he said to me, ‘Mo’Nique, you’ve been blackballed.’ I said, ‘Why?’ And he said, ‘Because you didn’t play the game.’ “I said, ‘Well, what game is that?'” He gave me no response.”
She was supposed to be in the “The Butler” and the upcoming Richard Pryor biopic but both roles went or are going to Oprah Winfrey. Big O eating that plate! She was even offered a role in “Empire.”
The comments ran in The Hollywood Reporter. Lee Daniels also responded with:
“Mo’Nique is a creative force to be reckoned with. Her demands through Precious were not always in line with the campaign. This soured her relationship with the Hollywood community. I consider her a friend. I have and will always think of her for parts that we can collaborate on, however the consensus among the creative teams and powers thus far were to go another way with these roles.”
Mo’Nique is far from finished! She just needs to re-adjust who she caters her talents to! These Hollywood haters don’t want the real! I don’t even see what she did that was so bad? She just said that she’s glad that she won based on the performance and not the politics of Hollywood.
And there you have it…THE GAME.
