After a three-year hiatus, Jazmine Sullivan is back with her third album, Reality Show. Back in 2011, she broke the news via Twitter that she was taking a hiatus from music because it wasn’t fun anymore. During her recent sit down with The Breakfast Club, the “Forever Don’t Last” singer revealed that her reason for her break was deeper than that tweet.
“I left music because I was in a really bad relationship and it had gotten abusive,” she said. “It had gotten to be too much just having to deal with the industry and that my personal life was so bad. So I had to go for a second. But I’m back. I’m out of the relationship.”
She says that after her abuser “slapped her so hard that she couldn’t hear,” which possibly could have threatened her singing career, that was the wake up call she needed to leave.
The Philly songstress also touched on how Jay Z and Solange’s ‘Elevatorgate’ scandal stole the shine from her Meek Mill-assisted single “Dumb,” preventing it from becoming a hit.
“What a coincidence!” said the 27-year-old about the scandal’s timing. “I did feel like that situation kind of took away from it but it’s cool. I got a lot more songs on the album that I personally think are doper.”
Watch below to hear her talk more about her new album, her love for reality shows and her image as a plus size singer.

The tug of war for the starring role of Richard Pryor in his upcoming biopic is now over. And the role goes to…Mike Epps.
During a recent interview, the 44-year-old said that he is slated to start shooting in March and although he is nervous he believes that that role was destined to be his.
“I’m really, really nervous, but it’s a good nervous,” Epps said on The Tom Joyner Morning Show. “I gotta represent the King. It left me, but it came back. I think I was born to play the brother. Our lives have paralleled in so many ways. I think when you’re a real artist, a great artist, most of them had a problem at some point in their lives. I fight demons all the time. I just think alcohol and drug addiction are hereditary sometimes. We can’t fight it.”
After gushing about snagging the desired role as the legendary comedian, the Sparkle star took the time to throw shade at fellow funny man Chris Rock while talking about his directorial debut, Top Five.
“I haven’t seen it. I don’t know why they called it Top Five. There wasn’t one good comedian in the whole movie. I don’t know why they keep giving Chris Rock opportunities. He’s a great standup and a good Meerkat. When do these white people – they’re blind. They keep giving the wrong dude opportunities.”
Other comedians in Top Five include Tracy Morgan, Kevin Hart, J.B Smoove, Cedric the Entertainer, Sherri Shepherd and Saturday Night Live stars Leslie Wilson and Jay Pharoah.
The Starz series, Survivor’s Remorse, in which Epps stars, will be returning to TV sets in March.
VvG aka Verbal Van Gogh brings us his new project with “Reality Of A Dreamworld.” Check out the dope 10-track project here.
For the record, I say HATE.
SHADE.
DISDAIN.
OR PUBLICITY.
Whatever you wanna call it, this man has no reason to lash out at Chris Rock like Pootie Tang wasn’t the shiz-NIT.
Love that movie!
Anyway, here is what Epps said on the Tom Joyner morning show via journalist Tonya Pendleton:
“I haven’t seen it. I don’t know why they called it ‘Top Five” there wasn’t one good comedian in the whole movie. I don’t know why they keep giving Chris Rock opportunities. He’s a great standup and a good Meerkat. When do these white people – they’re blind. They keep giving the wrong dude opportunities.”
He also said his new movie about Richard Pryor is going to be as big as “Selma.” Random. Why not…big as “Star Wars.” LOL! Don’t limit yourself, big homey.
“I start shooting in March. We’re going to be shooting in L.A. and New York. I’m really, really nervous, but it’s a good nervous. I gotta represent the King. It left me, but it came back. I think I was born to play the brother. Our lives have paralleled in so many ways. I think when you’re a real artist, a great artist, most of them had a problem at some point in their lives. I fight demons all the time. I just think alcohol and drug addiction are hereditary sometimes. We can’t fight it.
“The Richard Pryor will be just as big as Selma or any of the other black history movies. Richard Pryor had almost as strong an effect as Martin Luther King on Black people. He was talking about race. He was talking about cops jumping on Black people back in the day.”

Earlier this week, a p### star took to her Twitter in efforts to expose Chris Brown. Kagney Linn Karter, who also works as an escort, said that the “Loyal” singer paid her $2,500 to be his escort for the night and became upset when he learned that sex was not a part of the deal.
While tweeting about how he has been cyberbylling/stalking her since she refused to have sex with him, Karter also posted pictures of what she said was Brown’s private area. With one of the pics, she tweeted “i can slap b###### now with chris browns d– on my timeline all day say some SLICK S– pulls out CBs d— WHAP.”

When Breezy saw that Karter had taken things too far, he reportedly had his legal team suspend her Twitter account. Twitter does not forbid nude pictures, but it does not condone violating someone’s privacy with graphic flicks.
This fiasco is now the least of Breezy’s worries. A shooting occurred recently during a San Jose, CA club performance where five people were shot, which led to him swearing off “hood clubs.”

During an appearance on The View yesterday (Jan. 13) actress Naya Rivera shared her theory on showering, deeming it something that is done too frequently by white people and not so much by people of color.
“I think that white people shower a lot more than ethics,” said the Glee star. “I think that showering more than once a day or everyday is such a white people thing.”
Rivera, who’s African America, white and German, said that she came to this revelation after marrying her white husband, Ryan Dorsey. “He showers a lot, like two to three times a day.”
The 28-year-old then used research to back up her claim, which garnered side eyes from the audience.
“A dermatologist says that you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days. So I’m right on the mark.”
Once word of what she said got out, Rivera caught the wrath of Twitter. She then encouraged people to laugh off her comments.
When you get out of the shower today, get a sense of humor. Love ya!

His signing comes days after boxer Andre Ward was added to the Roc Nation roster.
(AllHipHop News) Fans often get really excited when a famous person acknowledges them on social media, but it is not expected that a 20 year veteran of the Hip Hop game will start crying on camera just because another rapper responded to them online.
But that is exactly what happened when Young Zee of the The Outsidaz heard back from 50 Cent on Instagram.
“50 Cent just responded to my comment on Instagram. I just feel like I never felt like this before,” said a teary-eyed Zee in a selfie video. “This is what music is about, and I just feel really good right now.”
The Jersey rapper posted the following caption/picture on IG:
50 RESPONDED TO MY COMMENT…! AND MY HEART IS BEATING SO FAST I THINK IM DYING…! OMG..! IT MEANS MORE THEN ANYTHING ANYONE IN MUSIC HAS DONE FOR ME…

(AllHipHop News) Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz went head-to-head with HLN host Nancy Grace over the legalization of marijuana in this country. Grace opened the segment by chastising 2 Chainz’s video for “Birthday Song” and then asked her guest how he could support decriminalizing weed after hearing about stories of parents apparently making their children smoke cannabis.
“From the story I just heard you talk about, they had alcohol included which we all know causes you to black out, forget things and have memory loss,” responded Chainz. “I don’t think you can put an umbrella on the whole community off these few incidents that you just named.”
Grace then addresses what she sees as the Def Jam artist’s lyrics advocating a “different kind of lifestyle” that little children should not be exposed to. Chainz told the former attorney that people need to “govern their own household.”
After being told to watch a video of a mother making her daughter smoke marijuana, Chainz said, “I feel like [the mother] was irresponsible, a bonehead. That was an imbecile move. Anybody that loves their kid, definitely knows not to put them in harm’s way. So I don’t agree with that at all. She may have mental issues. It might be something deeper than a joint.”
2 Chainz also connects the legalization of pot to the criminal justice system and taxation. He points out the fact that many convicted felons are now unable to get loans just because of arrests for weed related charges. Grace even agrees with him about the “waste of tax payers money” in his own personal legal situation over .01 residue of marijuana.
Watch the exchange between Nancy Grace and 2 Chainz below.
