Reddit explained how the new capital will be used in a blog post:

We’re planning to use this money to hire more staff for product development, expand our community management team, build out better moderation and community tools, work more closely with third party developers to expand our mobile offerings (try our new AMA app), improve our self-serve ad product, build out reddit gifts marketplace, pay for our growing technical infrastructure, and all the many other things it takes to support a huge and growing global internet community.

The site is perhaps best well-known for its “Ask Me Anything (AMA)” sessions where celebrities interact directly with users in an online Q&A. Numerous Hip Hop stars have participated in a Reddit AMA. Method Man, Schoolboy Q, and Chance The Rapper are just a few of the rappers featured in the interview series over the last several years.

Nas Explains Why He No Longer Listens To "Ether"; Says New Music Coming Soon

(AllHipHop News) Nas recently stopped by The Angie Martinez Show. The Queens native discussed the Time Is Illmatic documentary and more. During the program, a fan requested that Angie play the classic Jay Z diss record “Ether,” but according to the radio host, Esco shut that idea down.

“It’s just old,” said Nas about not wanting the track played. When Angie suggested that people no longer have hard feelings about the song, Nas replied, “I don’t know that… I don’t feel anything from it. It’s just so old.”

Nas also shares that he does not listens to “Ether” or Jay’s “Takeover” anymore. For him, the two legends have a good relationship now, so there is no need to go back to those times when they were feuding.

While Nas is not blasting particular tracks from 2001, he does plan to drop new music in the very near future. A track could be coming as early as this week.

J. Lo Happy Diddy Picked Her Booty

Diddy still loves J. Lo and her her backside.

Jennifer “J. Lo” Lopez and Sean “Diddy” Combs were in a relationship years ago and there seems to still be a spark. When she was told about Diddy’s adulation of her “assets” in a radio interview, she reportedly smiled broadly. She did not comment directly in an interview with Access Hollywood magazine.

Instead, she said: “We spent three years of our lives together, you know almost every single day”.  “As much as he roots for me and as proud as he is of me and of the time we had together, I, I am just as proud to see what he’s done.”

“Access Hollywood” asked Diddy if Kim Kardashian’s booty measured up to J. Lo and the original Bad Boy said, “Noooooo waaaaaaaaaaaay. No disrespect to Kanye and Kim but that thing right there (J. Lo’s booty), that thing right there is something special.””

ILOVEMAKONNEN Says Troy Ave’s “Tuesday (Remix)” Is The Worst

It looks lil Troy is going to get big boy when/if he sees him. I’m thinking he won’t. I’m also thinking that that big boy will say sorry or something before sunrise.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Fans Try To Dig Up Doe-B? Amber/Wiz Drama!

What is going on in the world? They are saying that Doe B was resting in peace and some crazy fools tried to get into his grave. Now, the thing is, a lot of people think there was some “message” that they were trying to send. What was the message though? Nobody seems to really know. But don’t be quick to think it was some haters. There are some down there in Alabama that have been talking that it may have actually been some adorning fans that were severely misguided.

Is Amber Rose acting or not? Amber Rose and her personal life have dominated the headlines, but there is another mini story, according to Rhymes With Snitch. She was apparently going to co-star in the new TV show “Selfie,” it hasn’t yet materialized. Peep:

Back in August Amber Rose announced that she had snagged a recurring role on the new ABC sitcom Selfie [click here if you missed that].

Last night Selfie premiered but Amber was nowhere to be found…

A few weeks ago Amber posted a cast sheet from Selfie with her name on it and everything but last night it appeared Amber’s part had been left on the cutting room floor.

Did Hot 97’s Peter Rosenburg criss cross the line for ratings?

These are the Cliff Notes of what Rosenburg said about Wiz’s alleged cheating:

Rosenburg’s wife, Rosenburg and Amber Rose (That’s a lot of damn “roses”) are apparently super tight. The dude confirmed on the radio that Wiz did cheat. Amber and Wiz were having issues but she apparently believed they would work it out. While she was thinking that, Wiz seemingly moved onward. Amber caught Wiz with these twins canoodling in a crib he owns, but she has the keys to as well. She must have had the damn P.I.’s on him. He apparently had something with the twin chicks for quite some time. Amber gets a million bucks, per her pre nuptial agreement. Not a lot of money, but much more than I have.

Was Rosenberger out of line for exposing a man and wife’s private life or is it all good?

Killer Of Jordan Davis Found Guilty Of Murder

(AllHipHop News) Michael Dunn was found guilty Wednesday of first-degree murder for killing Jordan Davis, the 17-year-old boy in a dispute over music in Nov. of 2012.

The case was a retrial, where initially Dunn’s February case ended up in a mistrial after the jury in the first case was deadlocked for 30 hours.

The 47-year-old murderer took the stand in his own defense in the case as it closed today.

The closing arguments by prosecutor Erin Wolfson likely sealed the deal for Dunn. Wolfson and other prosecutors maintained Michael Dunn shot with the sole purpose to kill when he fired 10 rounds into the SUV that held Jordan Davis and three of his friends.

“He wasn’t shooting at the tires. He wasn’t shooting at the windows. He was shooting to kill, aiming at Jordan Davis,” Wolfson told jurors.”Let me be very clear: There was no shotgun in that red Durango that night,” Wolfson said. “There was no  stick, there was no branch, there was no hollow pipe. There was no weapon. Inside that Dodge Durango were four teenagers … four kids who had just left their moms, four kids who were spending their Black Friday doing what lots of people do — out at the mall, they were just hanging out, being kids, listening to music that they liked.”

On top of that, Wolfson said that Dunn feeling threatened was not in line with reality, ultimately dissolving his argument of self-defense. There was never a gun in the SUV that held Jordan Davis and his friends.

Dunn was tearful after being found guilty of murder.

In February, Dunn was convicted of three counts of attempted second-degree murder and was already starting at 60 years in prison.

Reverend Al Sharpton offered his commentary on the ordeal, stating justice had been served.

“The conviction of Michael Dunn of first degree murder vindicates the committed work of the parents of Jordan Davis and all of us, who despite setbacks still tried to get the courts to deal with issues like this. Many say we cannot win cases in the courts and must resort to taking things in our own hands. Verdicts like this tell us even though the road is long and rough we cannot be deterred. It also says that loud music and wild claims cannot justify the taking of innocent unarmed lives.”

Time Is Illmatic: Jones Family Values

Nas Time
By Tamika N. Stewart

Yeah!! I finally saw “Time Is Illmatic,” and it is definitely a must see if you are a lover of Hip-Hop, American culture, and history. The documentary was promoted as a behind-the-scenes look at the legendary rapper Nasir Jones’ (Nas) making of the classic album, Illmatic. It was great to see interviews with legends like Marley Marl, Pete Rock, and Q-Tip as they chronicled the roles they played in the making of the classic album. Admittedly, I was hype to see this film, but beyond the phenomenal footage and music, what was most memorable and poignant to me was witnessing Nas and his brother Jabari (“Jungle”) as they continue to heal from their parents’ divorce years ago.

The Jones family seemed to have most of what they needed financially, and Nas enjoyed the benefits of living in a two-parent home with both parents working. The brothers credit their home environment to the hard work and dedication of their mom and dad, whom despite the fact that they lived in Queensbridge Housing Project, a community that is marred with violence, poverty, and crime, created a peaceful, fun sanctuary inside their home. But like so many families, when the patriarch, Mr. Olu, left the family home, things went left pretty quickly.

When families separate, the children are always left fractured from the disruption and consequently, each child will have his or her own unique experiences, thoughts, and reactions to their parents’ split. Nas and Jungle experienced their parents’ separation quite differently – then and now. Nas said in a rather matter of fact way, ‘his dad left,’ and he went to visit him at his new place. Period. Jungle, on the other hand, said when his dad left, he didn’t think he was going to ever see him—that he kept looking for him to come back to his family home.

Those very statements illustrate how two children understood separation very differently, and how they expressed their feelings about their father moving out, even over 20 years later. It’s likely that Nas, being the elder, quickly took on the role of protector and provider of his younger brother and didn’t have time to “get into his feelings”- Instead, he had to get to work and take care of business (hint…Illmatic). Jungle, who had the courage to express some really painful feelings, seemed to take the separation of his family much harder. As the audience laughed at his hyperbole and banter (and drinking) in the film, I was somewhat uncomfortable, because I could see that this man was still hurting. When a family separates, nothing ever really remains the same, and as Jungle spoke, I could feel his emotions jump through the screen when he described the changes that unfolded.

RELATED: The Filmmakers Of “Nas: Time is Illmatic” Speak On New Documentary

There was not a huge discussion about why Nas and Jungle’s parents separated, but my heart ached for Nas’ mother, Ms. Fannie, who had to make the difficult decision to leave the father of her children. It was clear she loved her children and put her needs a distant second. This was best illustrated when she told Nas and Jungle to love their dad despite their personal issues because “he is still your father”. In that simple directive, she gave them permission to love their father unconditionally, despite their mistakes. This was truly a selfless act, and more parents need to be mindful of separating adult issues from those of children, so they can be shielded from the rawness of divorce.

Although Nas’ mother died in the early 2000s, I believe she positioned her children and their father for this time of healing and re-commitment, and the catalyst was this movie. Of course, Time Is Illmatic is great for the Hip-Hop community, too, but if you really pay attention, you’ll see it was even better for the Jones family. As adults, it’s important to heal the wounds we get as children. This film illustrates that it’s never too late to strengthen your family and heal from the past by taking risks, being honest, and telling your story. The Jones family took a huge risk by sharing their intimate details, but by the film’s conclusion, you are so glad that they did.

EXCLUSIVE: Shawnna Calls For Unity Among Female Rappers, Suggests Forming An All Women Hip Hop Tour

(AllHipHop News) Nicki vs Iggy. Kim vs Nicki. Remy vs Kim. Digga vs Iggy. These are some of the headlines that have dominated the discussion involving female Hip Hop over the last several months, but one woman is ready to end all the beef among the ladies.

[ALSO CHECK OUT: Shawnna “Getting To It”]

Chicago’s Shawnna believes women in the culture should join forces and overcome the stereotype that they cannot work together. With all the attention female rap is currently receiving, the “Gettin’ To It” performer says it is now time for the them to take over.

“Look at the state of female rap. I know from speaking with these women – they’re not hateful. They wanna work together,” says Shawnna. “It’s just that we’ve all made so much of a stigma that we want to be the only one and we can’t work together, we’re working against that now. So it’s going to take extra effort to stomp that at. We gotta smother that.”

She continues, “There’s so much talent among the females, it’s unfair for it to be two or three out there, and that’s all you know about. No disrespect. They’re phenomenal. I support, listen, watch, and all that. But my heart still goes out to all of the talent that gets overlooked and passed to the side because of this stigma there can only be one queen. We gotta dead that s**t.”

One way Shawnna would like to see unity among the females in Hip Hop is by the women connecting for a concert trek. She acknowledges it would take for interested artists to check their excessive pride at the door to get that feat accomplished.

[ALSO CHECK OUT: Shawnna “Fire”]

“Wassup with an all female tour? You think the ladies won’t come out to support that? And you know what brings the men out? The ladies,” Shawnna suggests. “We’re ready to get some of this bread together. Some egos are gonna have to be put on the coat rack for a minute. We gotta say, ‘If we continue to go this way, we ain’t gonna eat.’”

Shawnna looks to a certain male rap entertainer as example of what femcees could be doing to increase their net worth.

“Look at DJ Khaled. He has built an empire off allowing other male artists to collaborate. Look at the money he’s making,” she says about the man who is ranked at number 20 on Forbes Hip Hop Cash Kings list. “I know [the women] wanna make money. I know they’re already making money, but who walks around saying, ‘I’m already making money I don’t wanna make no more?’ Nobody.”

Ultimately, Shawnna would be a supporter of a “Queens Of Hip Hop” type tour even if he was not booked to participate. As a rap fan, she just wants to see that milestone take place.

“Even  if I wasn’t included on it, you can be damn sure I’m getting my V.I.P pass and front row seat,” she declares.

As we all anxiously await the full-fledged return of Kendrick Lamar, I got a scoop of a rumor! I am hearing K-Dot and the Mighty Purple One Prince are going to be hitting the studio together for the rapper’s upcoming album. Prince and his band ThirdEyeGirl recently performed in LA and Kendrick was there, according to sources. But, beyond that, I am hearing that the pair made it to the studio and crafted a track for the Compton rapper’s new, upcoming album. Here is the performance. We definitely know this happened.

I’m not sure what this couldn’t mean in the grand scheme of the new album. I just hope they can make whatever they do DOPE.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Trina Introduced French And Khloe

We’ve been waiting for a minute for Trina to break her silence regarding the Franch and Khloe relationship. The Diamond Princess finally shared her feelings with 103.5 The Beat’s K. Foxx recently during an interview and if she’s spoken to Kim of any of the other members of the Kardashian clan.

“”I haven’t spoken to her,” said Trina.

“The last time I saw her was at Kanye’s concert in New York. I introduced French Montana to the Kardashians at the Kanye West concert. I just feel like certain things are like, girl code. I don’t feel like Kim’s done anything to me. If this is my sister, I’ma rock with my sister for whatever it is. Ain’t nobody gonna turn me away from my sister. I respect that. I just feel like it’s not what you do but how you do it. If I’m with you like I’m sitting in this room with you today and then tomorrow I see you talking to somebody that I’m not cool with or I am cool with and I don’t know what’s going on and you never say anything, it’s a little disrespect. But you go do your thing, I’ll do my thing. It’s all good.”
