Dro Fe – "No Borders" (Mixtape)

Texas emcee Dro Fe isn’t wasting anytime with his music as he delivers the highly anticipated mixtape No Borders that includes production from Happy Perez throughout the whole tape.

If your not familiar with Happy Perez then you might want to know he is responsible for creating “End Of The Night” for Ludacris and also won a grammy for the same record. More recently he made Miguel’s smash hit “Sure Thing”. Adding Happy Perez to the mix was a no brainer for Dro Fe and the producer was happy to take him on.

Dro Fe holds nothing back on this 9 track project that includes features from Z-Ro, Fat Trel, Johnny Cinco, Tracy T and more. Expect more music from Dro Fe and another project from the duo to drop at a later time.

“If anything it drives me to not sound like that. It drives me to be myself,” explained Joey. “It’s an honor to be compared to somebody like Nas and Illmatic – that’s a great and immense body of work – but my main thing is sounding like myself. I don’t want to sound like anyone.”

The B4.DA.$$ album creator also claims there are now rappers that have borrowed his style. Joey did not name names, but he clearly feels he has inspired other artists.

“I want people to be like, ‘You sound like Joey,'” he added. “There’s some cats that sound like Joey. All these n***as is my sons.”

“Since Eric Garner and the whole case with Ferguson – just yesterday two different news reports on two different people being shot by cops,” said Method Man. “Whether it was justified or not, it’s like give it a break already. Instead of trend news, let’s just do the news. Let’s not just go with what’s trendy at that point… If you’re going to do trend stories, let’s do trend stories about twerking, big booties. Something we can really get into.”

Host Ricky Camilleri then asked Meth if the “trend stories” were helping the public by bringing attention to the fact African-Americans are being targeted and killed by law enforcement.

Method Man responded, “Yes, but when you take an Eric Garner case and you see it for what it is – choked or whatever – but then you take a case where it’s a justifiable homicide, but then you try and make it look like an Eric Garner type of situation. That’s where I draw the line.”

FRESH HEAT – Vice Souletric (feat. Guilty Simpson) – "Troublesome"

We’ve been lied to. The “land of the free and the home of the brave” may have been true at one point in American history, but the mantra couldn’t be any farther from the truth today. The media has painted a picture of minorities as criminals to be feared. Law enforcement comb the streets, often acting as judge, jury and executioner, to those who have no affiliation with criminal activity. It’s this very behavior that destroying the bedrock of our country, and the notion of liberty.

Leading the pack in fighting for what’s right are Vice Soulectric, and Guilty Simpson with “Troublesome,” the debut leak taken from Vice’s forthcoming EP, ‘Vice for President.’ As Vice drops knowledge on being called into question for being wrongfully accused by those who are sworn to protect and serve, Guilty echoes a Biggie bar, reminiscing on that fact that for many, sports and entertainment are the only way for African Americans to be successful in this current system. The highly charged, futuristic head nodder produced by Vice, serves as a much needed dose of reality rap. Mark your calendars for the April 7th release of Vice for President, which is set to drop through Vice’s United Grind imprint
