Fat Joe Talks Licking Sneakers, Wanting To Punch Mark Cuban + More (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Sneakerheads do odd things to show their supremacy in the land of sneakers. Some wait on line for days, others lick their sneakers to show their mint condition. In a recent interview, Fat Joe explains beginning the sneaker licking craze, wanting to punch Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban and receiving a letter in jail from Michael Jordan.

Fat Joe is a supreme aficionado of sneakers and on an episode of MTV Cribs back in 2004, Fat Joe infamously licked the sole of his Olympic 6 Jordan’s. In an interview for Complex’s Quickstrike, Joe explains why he put his tongue on the bottom of his sneaker:

My man used to tell me ‘I be watching you on these magazines,  you never rock the same thing twice.’ So, as I’m doing the MTV Cribs. Out of no where i heard ‘Joe you never rock the same sh*t twice.’ I said let me show the camera that these sneakers have never been worn, so I lick it. I go to China and they got f*cken T-shirts with Chinese people licking it. It’s great to me, I love it.

Back in July 2013, Joe was sentenced to four months in prison for back taxes and reveals that Michael Jordan sent him a letter while he was incarcerated. It was at an All-Star Game auction of Jordan’s by his Airness himself that almost led Fat Joe to punching the Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban:

Somebody outbid me and when I turned around it’s Mark Cuban. He goes up to me and he tells me ‘Fat Joe, guess what.’ I said, ‘What?’ He said, ‘I’m gonna throw it in my closet with the rest of the stuff.’ I wanted to punch Mark Cuban in the face. ‘You motherf—er.’ I’m over here thinking, ‘This is it. This is like the Picasso of sneakers.

Melyssa Ford Recalls Provoking A Man To Punch Her In The Face (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) One in four women will experience domestic violence in their life for a variety of reasons. During a recent interview, Melyssa Ford explains an incident where she used physical force to instigate an assault from a man.

Last Friday (July 24th), ESPN personality Stephen A Smith incited a bit of controversy when commenting on the 2-game suspension the NFL handed down to Baltimore Ravens’ Ray Rice following Rice’s admission of having a physical altercation with his wife and subsequent video of him dragging her unconscious body out of an elevator. Smith intimated that women involved in domestic abuse should learn ways to avoid provoking the attacker.

In a recent interview with Charlamagne The God and Andrew Shultz’s The Brilliant Idiots podcast, Ford explains of a time when she was guilty of provoking a physical assault from a man:

While I was shaking my hand in his face, I smashed him in the face with the CD walkman. He didn’t even blink and punched me right in my face. Lip exploded. It was like *gasp*. Then I wilded out some more and he was like, ‘Oh my God! I gotta get her out of here,’ because we’re in the car in the street.

Stephen A Smith issued an apology on yesterday’s (July 28th) episode of ESPN’s First Take.

Judge Rules Against Donlad Sterling, Approves Los Angeles Clippers' Sale

(AllHipHop News) NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and millions of others can breathe a sigh of relief. Yesterday (July 28th), Superior Court Judge Michael Levanas approved of that the sale of the Los Angeles Clippers to ex-Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer for $2 billion.

The judge decided that Shelly Sterling acted in the interest of the Sterling Family Trust, which owned the team, after two doctors determined Donald Sterling to be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Shelly was also awarded the invocation of Section 1310(b) of the California Probate Code which stipulates that even if Donald Sterling appeals, it can not stop the sale of the team.

Donald Sterling was not in attendance when the judge gave his verdict but his attorney Bobby Samini stated “he didn’t take it too hard” and “he just said, ‘Keep fighting.'” Shelly Sterling on the other hand was so excited she began promoting the Clippers immediately outside the courtroom after the verdict:

This is going to be a good thing for the city, for the league for my family and for all of us. Come see the Clippers next year.

The judge’s final decision will be reached on August 13th and the attorneys for Shelly and Ballmer state the sale of the Clippers should be finalized on August 15th.

Ice Cube Explains Why Eazy E's Son Was Left Out Of N.W.A. Biopic

(AllHipHop News) No favoritism with Ice Cube, simply acting business. Less than a month after Eazy E’s son, Eric Wright Jr was allegedly outraged on not being cast to portray his father in the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, Ice Cube explains that Wright Jr’s lack of experience was to blame.

Cube spoke to Colorado radio station KS 107.5 about the casting of Straight Outta Compton and the involvement of Eazy E’s family. Jason Mitchell was cast to portray Eazy E and Cube explains the Wright Jr was not selected due to how much the role demanded:

He’s an up-and-coming actor trying to do it, but we needed somebody who was a little more polished to play Eazy, because he goes through a lot in his life. He goes from selling dope in Compton to fighting for his life in a hospital bed. So we needed to find an actor with a lot of range. And we just couldn’t use just anybody. We gave him a shot, and it just didn’t work out.

Wright Jr dismissed rumors of his displeasure with not being cast in the movie and informed Rolling Stone that he is willing to give Mitchell advice on how to portray his father. Interestingly enough, Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr has no prior acting experience in films and will portray his father in the N.W.A. biopic.

Straight Outta Compton is schedule to beginning filming next month and set to be released August 2015.

Nelly said:

I don’t have a beef with Floyd Mayweather. For me, for the most part. I think the whole thing is misunderstood. I try to understand where he’s coming from, which is a little hard to do. But it’s just one of those things. He is who he is. He’s one of those people that I don’t think likes the word no said to him. I think if anybody does that, that’s what gets underneath his skin a little bit. But I don’t know. It’s kind of hard talking to a guy who hasn’t graduated from high school.

Mayweather and Nelly have been involved in a very public feud in recent months. The issues apparently revolve around Nelly dating Floyd’s ex-fiance Shantel Jackson.

Kanye West Wins Round 1 Against "Coinye" Bitcoin But The Fight May Not Be Over

(AllHipHop News) The first step in Kanye West’s legal battle against the bitcoin cyrptocurrency using his likeness is over. According to Billboard, the Hip Hop superstar has successfully forced some of the creators of “Coinye” to halt their plans of dispersing the digital money.

West sent a cease-and-desist letter to seven anonymous coders and filed a trademark-infringement lawsuit in January. The currency was temporarily shut down. When the Coinye creators simply changed their logo, the Chicago native updated his suit to include over 100 defendants. Most of the people in the lawsuit were listed as “John/Jane Does.”

This week a few of the named defendants lost the case by default, because they failed to respond. Named defendants Richard McCord, David McEnery and Harry Willis settled with the Yeezus rapper.

While this is a victory for West, Hypebot reports the win in U.S. District Court may not have permanently killed the Coinye phenomenon. Other brands sporting the Kanye-inspired name are still active including coinyecoin.org and coinyethecoin.com. The latter site features the tagline, “When they tell you to cease and desist, increase and resist!”
