With this news out now, it looks like Cash Money’s decline is imminent. A couple of months after Lil Wayne’s Twitter rant about Cash Money, he will now sue his mentor, Birdman. According to TMZ, the two tried to make a settlement this week to keep them together. Unfortunately, neither could come up with a balanced compromise, and now Wayne is asking for 8 million and to be let go from Cash Money. The 8 million Wayne’s asking for is claimed to be an advance Birdman owed him for his latest album.
As for now, Wayne will continue to make music. However, when Tha Carter V comes out, don’t expect it to be released under Cash Money.
(AllHipHop News) Lee Daniels’ series Empire is a bona fide hit for Fox. The show pulled off the rare feat of seeing rating increases for the first three weeks of its premiere season, totaling an impressive 10.9 million viewers for the third episode.
Viewers can’t seem to get enough of the Lyon family drama playing out on their television screens. That connection to the audience has even turned over to supporting Empire‘s Timbaland-produced soundtrack.
Singles featured on the show have broken onto Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs and R&B/Hip Hop Digital Songs charts. The five-track EP Empire: Music From The Pilot debuted at number 8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
With the early success of the Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard led program, could the cast take their talents on the road for an Empire tour? Fox has a history of transforming its music-centered TV brands into nationwide arena performances.
Glee Live! In Concert! grossed over $45 million in 2010 and 2011, and the finalists from the network’s long-running singing competition American Idol go out on tour at the end of each season. American Idols Live! Tour 2006 was the financial peak for the annual trek. The season five contestants brought in $35 million at the box office.
AllHipHop.com spoke with actor/rapper Bryshere Gray (Hakeem Lyon) about the possibility he and his fellow Empire cast members could be following in the footsteps of Glee with tour dates in the near future.
“Maybe, we gotta let the world decide,” Gray responded.
The Philadelphia native shied away from giving a definitive answer, but Gray did provide a hint a big announcement involving touring is on the horizon.
The entertainer who also goes by Yazz The Greatest revealed, “Yeah, we have a little surprise for you. That’s going to come out very soon.”
Nipsey Hussle stays hustling and his Proud2Pay movement has becoming a staple for the rapper with him moving about 60 copies of his new album at $1,000 per copy.
The rapper released his latest MailBox Money and gave fans the option to download it for free, get it on iTunes or pay $1,000 for a physical copy with several bonuses.
Nipsey said that he was surprised to see so many people paying that much money for the album.
“It surprises me. As much as I believe in it. Every time I get a transaction, I get a text on my phone, and I’ve been hitting them back,” Nip told The Guardian. “The feedback and the connection I have with these people help me understand the psychology of the person paying $1,000 for some songs that, realistically, you could download for free.
The highest human act is to inspire. Money is a tool – it’s the means, not the end. [Inspiration is] the metric that dictates whether or not a project is a success. It’s more realistic than trying to aim for radio play, or trying to satisfy an A&R, or the other gatekeepers on these platforms. I don’t even know how to create with those things in mind. But if you tell me the goal is to inspire? That makes my job a lot easier.”
These 60 people will get free access to Nipsey’s next album, which will be called Victory Lap.
The homey Tyrese has been making a run for the Marvel Universe for quite some time. Those with long memory may recall he was in the early rumors about Luke Cage way back in the day. But today he posted something up that has Rumor Land talking again. He’s reportedly in the conversations to hop over to the D.C. Nation as the Green Lantern. This is what Tyrese posted on his Instagram.
For those that don’t know, Common was the other dude in the running for that role of Green Lantern. The original Justice League simply wasn’t made and it hurt Com Sense.
For those that don’t know, Green Lantern was a white guy at first, but a dude named John Stewart came in and took over the role and he’s expected to be a brother going into D.C.’s new incarnation of the movie.

After recently being featured on DJ E-Feezy’s single “Sex You Up” (via Rap-Up) alongside Trina and Plies, Oklahoma rapper Young Star looks to build off the momentum with the release of new visuals for his catchy single, “Look At Me.” From the streets, to the club, to the studio, and more, Star keeps everybody moving with the high-energy track that showcases his rapid-fire flow. The visual also comes filled with cameos from the likes of Waka Flocka, 2 Chainz, Que, T.I., and several others.
Alexandra Shipp was slammed after she portrayed the late Aaliyah in the Lifetime biopic, Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B. The lukewarm response to the movie didn’t stop the movie offers from rolling in though.
The former Disney star has been snagged to play Storm in the upcoming X-Men installment, X-Men: Apocalypse, which hits theaters May 27, 2016. The film’s director Bryan Singer took to his Twitter to announce the upcoming flick.
Since the airing of her debut film, the 23-year-old has been keeping busy. She has a recurring role on Days of Our Lives and is playing Ice Cube’s wife in the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, due in theaters in August 2015.
Rihanna has won her legal battle against UK retailer Topshop, who she smacked with a $5 million lawsuit in 2013 for selling sleeveless t-shirts that boast of a photo of her that was taken while filming her “We Found Love” video.
In the UK, celebrities have no control over how their images are used; however, Rihanna’s legal team found a flaw in that law. If it is made to seem like the celebrity is endorsing that product or company, it could be seen as “passing off,” or using an unauthorized image. Due to this loophole, the bad gal won the case. The amount she walked away with is unknown, but Topshop does have to pay her legal fees. The Bajan beauty is the first celebrity to win this type of case.
RiRi originally sued Topshop’s parent company Arcadia in 2013 for $5 million for selling the t-shirts and the judge ruled in her favor on that case as well.
With his next album, Full Speed, on the way Kid Ink stopped by The Breakfast Club to dish about what fans could expect from his sophomore effort.
The tatted up spitter was bigged up by Lil’ Wayne after shouting him out on his new single “Hot Boy” and hit him up after Weezy showed love via Twitter and tried to get on his Sorry For The Wait 2 mixtape that dropped this week.
“That was first acknowledgement [and] time ever talking to Weezy and getting any type of respect from that side of things. So it was dope to really see that. It’s not like it’s a record that’s spinning everywhere.”
The “Main Chick” rapper says he was two days too late when he tried to get on Tunechi’s mixtape but hopes to work with him soon.
Being gang affiliated has become the norm when it comes to the bevy of upcoming west coast rappers, but Ink says he stayed away from that life thanks to music and not wanting to be into the street life.
“I got into music early,” said the “Show Me” rapper. “I used to run with Nipsey [Hussle]. I produced his first single. I was in the same circles I was right there on Slauson. I used to stay in the same neighborhoods and go to the same schools. I used to get banged on in front of my house…I had the opportunity but I just saw the outcome…and I’m lazy.”
Press play to hear him talk about his chemistry with Chris Brown, how his six-year relationship has been surviving the music business and what it was like when he tripped off shrooms.
The streets are talking and they are saying a little something. Somebody that knows more about legal matters than I do has suggested that Bobby Shmurda is staying in jail for a real, real reason. But, lets back up for a second. First of all, his uncles agreed to bail him out, but he refused. Apparently, that would be about $20,000. Bobby told his uncles, who seems to be indie label heads, “NO.” He allegedly claims they stole from him and want to be in Rikers more than he wants to accept their money. Then there is Epic Records. Originally, it was said almost immediately that Epic would be getting the young alleged gunner out of the bing. But, Bobby remains in jail. Why? I am hearing that Bobby doesn’t want to OWE the money back that will be used to get him out. So instead, he’s just going to stay in jail. That is the rumor! I cannot say for certain if this is fact, because RIGHT NOW Shmurda is on the bill of a couple of major festivals. He could make $20k back off one gig! I think Coolio could hustle that money up. So why is Shmurda in jail still?
I just hope he’s keeping his pants pulled up since he’s staying a while.
When T-Boz and Chilli announced their Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for thier fifth and final album on Monday (Jan. 19). their goal was to collect $150,000. Just four days later, they have exceeded thier goal.
With 27 days left in their campaign, TLC has collected $203,098 and has 1, 937 backers. Surprisingly, one of their backers is pop princess Katy Perry. The “Dark Horse” singer donated $5,000 to the duo’s campaign, which gives her the option to choose from two rewards: a slumber party with Chilli in Los Angeles or with T-Boz in Atlanta or a onesie.
The donated funds will be used to pay for recording and mixing sessions, booking producers and more. This project, which does not have a release date, will be the Grammy-winning group’s first album since 2002.
Has Baby declared war on Lil’ Wayne? First of all lets talk about these declarations of love between Young Thug and Birdman! Does it seem familiar?
And secondly, if you look at the picture below, it really looks like these dudes have discarded Ol’ Weezy F and are now the new Wayne and Birdman!
He’s definitely worth the trade, but these recent tweets by, Makonnen aka ILOVEMAKONNEN are weird to say the least. Well, weird is pretty much what he is, but this is just not comprehensible. That fluffy brother posted a bunch of stuff that leads me to believe he’s ripe with self hate. Read below:
I get what he is trying to say, but doing it all wrong. Drake! Come get your boy!
People may or may not know, J. Cole has had the same girlfriend for a long, long time. Good for him. And good for her. The word on the street is that she is out here looking at WEDDING DRESSES. Don’t get it messed up…not browsing for rings…we are talking about wedding dresses. I have never been with a woman long enough, but as far as I know, the only time a woman goes to the Wedding Dress Store is when she is about to get married. There have been longstanding rumors about these two. I hope they are true. Its about time some y0ung rap dude showed these guys how to do it!
