Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean And More Speak On Race During MTV's Black And White Broadcast For MLK Day

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, MTV is broadcasting in black and white for the first time. From 9 a.m to 9 p.m today (Jan. 19), no programs will air in color while artists like Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Common, Mack Wilds and more share stories and commentary about race relations during the commercial breaks. This broadcast is apart of the network’s #TheTalk campaign, which uses programming and social media to address racial issues.

In a statement, MTV president Stephen Friedman said the younger generation finds it difficult to discuss race even though they push for fairness. He says he hopes this campaign encourages the youth to be “color brave” during their conversations about race.

“Our audience is looking for a way to bring the national conversation on race into their homes and this campaign will give them a forum to express true color bravery,”  Friedman said.

Comedian Hannibal Buress Clowns Funkmaster Flex Over Jay Z Rant (AUDIO)

(AllHipHop News) A lot of people were surprised when radio personality Funkmaster Flex decided to call out Jay Z over issues he had with the Hip Hop mogul’s website. Flex went on an extended rant over an email someone from Jay’s blog sent to him concerning doing a story about his part in the Dipset reunion. He also complained about the rapper supposedly stealing ideas from his Funk Flex app.

While the statements still left some listeners scratching their heads (and other shaking theirs), Hannibal Buress decided to take a comedic look at the situation. The stand-up regular created a parody of Flex’s rant with gong clashes replacing the Hot 97 host’s signature bomb drops.

“This dude is 47 years old, and he’s just pressing the bomb sound effect over and over. Just use your words man. Use your words,”  Buress states. “Who the f**k do you think you are?  I will ruin you. You stole the interface from my website. No you didn’t, but I just wanted to say some s**t. Funkmaster Flex, the f**k is wrong with you?”

Buress made headlines last year, because he was credited as the one to restart the discussion about Bill Cosby allegedly drugging and raping numerous women. His bit about Cosby during an October routine went viral and led to heighten media attention on the decades old allegations.

Yukmouth Talks Tupac's Impact On Hip Hop; Says Pac Influenced Biggie's Style

(AllHipHop News) Oakland emcee Yukmouth has been in the Hip Hop game for two decades so the Rap-A-Lot affiliate has plenty of knowledge about the culture. Yuk did an interview recently and he took time to speak about the late icon Tupac Shakur.

Yuk first offered extreme high praise for Pac calling him the “Michael Jackson of rap.” He then began to list the ways Shakur influenced him and other Hip Hop artists.

“He gave us the blueprint on how to not only get money from this rap s**t, but get money as an actor, get money as a director, get money as a producer… just how to really finesse the whole game instead of just one lane,” said Yukmouth. “And his style that he brought. He was the first n***a wearing Versace. Shout out to Biggie, but Biggie was rocking Coogi sweaters. I was on tour with Biggie. When Pac came out rocking Versace, everybody started rocking Versace.”

The Luniz member also highlights Pac being “real.” Yuk mentioned how the West Coast legend shot at two off duty police officers in Atlanta and got into an altercation with directors the Hughes Brother over the film Menace II Society.

“He was really with the s**t. He wasn’t just acting. That’s what made Pac who he was,” added Yuk. “A lot n***as just rap to rap. They really don’t live that s**t. Pac was really with the s**t. Period. That’s the difference between Pac and these other n***as”

50 Cent Shares His Thoughts On Potential Mayweather Vs Pacquiao Fight (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Much of the boxing world has been focused on possibly seeing Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao finally face off in the ring this year. As the head of SMS Promotions, 50 Cent is deeply connected to prize fighting, and of course the ever outspoken Queens native has an opinion about what could be the biggest bout in years.

[ALSO CHECK OUT: Highlights From 50 Cent’s SMS Promotions “Big Apple Boxing”]

“That’s not going to happen… You heard me say it on film. It’s not going to happen,” 50 told Tech Buffalo. “What you wanna fight Pac-Man under those circumstances? When you can pick anybody you want to. Cause we wanna see the toughest fight?”

When questioned about a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight being part of boxing history, 50 focused on his sometimes public foe’s undefeated record as more historic than the chance of losing to Pac.

“Later when they look at his actual record and look at what he’s done, they’re still gonna have to say, ‘Who do you think could have beat him if it would have happened this way?'” 50 stated. “You know those imaginary games like what would it be like if Jordan played Kobe all at one time. Who would be better? It would be one of those conversations.”

Pacquiao said in a recent interview with Huffington Post Live that he agreed to all terms and the only thing standing in the way of the highly anticipated fight is Mayweather signing the contract. It has been speculated that Mayweather could make as much as $150 million off the bout.

Marlon & Shawn Wayans Clown Bill Cosby, Lil Wayne & Chris Brown (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) The Wayans family are comedy royalty, and recently two of the scions visited the Sway In The Morning radio show. Shawn and Marlon went on the Shade 45 program to promote their weekend shows at New York City’s Carolines comedy club, but they also took the time to tell a few jokes about Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Bill Cosby.

[ALSO READ: No Laughing Matter: Marlon Wayans Talks Seriously about Hollywood, Racism]

“The only people that knows what happened are Bill Cosby, the girls, and the moles on Bill Cosby’s f**king face,” said Marlon about the rape allegations against Cosby. “We don’t know.”

Shawn also told jokes about why Cosby was not a fan of Marlon. They were then asked about the complicated relationship between Lil Wayne and Christina Milian with the brothers stating nothing Wayne does makes sense.

“[Wayne] got gold teeth over baby teeth. He don’t make sense,” said Shawn.

Marlon also roasted Chris Brown. The R&B singer could be headed back to lock up after his probation was revoked, and the star of Haunted House thinks this could be a really bad return for Breezy.

“Don’t send this boy to jail again. He can’t take it. He can’t keep dancing his way from d**k. It’s gonna catch him sooner or later,” joked Marlon.

Funkmaster Flex Releases Second Rant Against Jay Z, "We Not Scared Of You" (AUDIO)

(AllHipHop News) DJ Funkmaster Flex was not done with his verbal attack against Jay Z. Over the weekend the Hot 97 radio personality went in on the Brooklyn emcee once again. After his first rant aimed at Jay’s website Life+Times, Flex’s second comments included more direct shots at the Roc Nation boss.

[ALSO READ: Funkmaster Flex Blasts Jay Z’s Life+Times Website Over Dipset Article (AUDIO)]

“In 2015, you are a commercial, corporate rapper that drops a little catchphrase every three months,” said Flex. “There’s nothing wrong with that. I think that’s super dope. Don’t talk to me funny in the text, bruh. I don’t work for you.”

The statement connects to a text Jay supposedly sent to Flex that the DJ posted to his Instagram page. The text read “This is HOV.” The caption for the picture alleged that Jay attempted to call Flex from a private number, and after he was unable to get through he sent the text.

Really? After calling private for hours you texting with CAPITAL letters????? This guy thinks it 1997 ???? Tomorrow 7pm I got this???? I see you need a tune up and lesson in respect!!!!!

A photo posted by DjFunkFlex (@djfunkflex) on

While Flex’s voice was not as aggressive in the follow-up rant and there were not the signature bomb drops throughout, he still made it clear he has issues with Jay for capitalizing his name in the text. Flex also stated that he is not afraid of the multimillionaire mogul.

“We not scared of you. This radio station doesn’t need you or care. Actually, the whole company doesn’t need you. You can’t call the bosses like you do other things,” Flex added. “Stop having people call me. It’s nonsense. I’m not picking up and I don’t have anything to say cause I don’t wanna talk to you. That’s that.”

Flex then warned Jay if he ever sends a subliminal shot at him on a record the result would be a daily radio assault against the rapper. Flex also said Jay needs to understand that he is not the only boss in New York City.

The audio also featured Flex giving compliments to Jay’s business moves and music, but he addressed supposed “manipulation” at Def Jam as well. He even called out Jay for not congratulating J. Cole’s success with 2014 Forest Hills Drive.

“This my city. You ain’t above me bro,” Flex declares.

Flex also went back to Instagram to dispel rumors that Jay was planning to buy Hot 97. He wrote, “Yeah Right! We good over here! They not buying s**t!”

The Odd Side Presents: 5 Punishing New Age Producers

Welcome to the first 2015 edition of The Odd Side, a column that explores the effects of Hip Hop’s transformation through new sounds.

In Hip Hop, their isn’t anything more important than the producer. The game wouldn’t be as crucial without several producers like DJ Premiere and J Dilla that have changed the game by creating new sounds  As time went on, producers (still important to the culture) took a backseat compared to their impact during the early ages of Hip Hop.

Well, that is until now. Rappers may still have a more public image compared to producers, but don’t let this fool you. A lot of talented producers have been making a come-up with their own personality fueling their music. Their talent is creating a new array of wave of music, with their DJ sets and online mixes online to back it up. With that in mind, these 5 up-and-coming producers have made dope tracks and mixes, and they’re punishing the game right now.

Kaytranada

If you’ve heard Vic Mensa’s single “Wimme Nah”, then you know that this Montreal producer earns complete credit for the beat. He’s already earned a residency on BBC Radio 1 along with Flying Lotus, and even earned a set at this year’s Governor’s Ball Music Festival in NYC. Kaytranada’s style is unique to say the least. When he’s remixing a a track or making original content, his echoed-keys and upbeat tempo can sometimes be interpreted as his signature sound, but that’s until you hear songs like “Charles Barkley” or “173.” Even with all of the diversity in his catalogue, Kaytranada’s sound has made him a standout compared to the competition. With his single “Leave Me Alone” garnering more than 1 million plays on Soundcloud, and the announcement that he’ll be dropping an album later on this year, expect to see this young producer a lot more.

He also made Azealia Banks’ “ATM Jam” sound waaaaaaaay better than the original. No offense Azealia..

Kaytranada’s Best Mix – April 12th (DJ Set) for Les Beats

From Disco, to Danny Brown, to The Isley Brothers, April 12th has it all. Kaytranada spent almost two hours mixing up a very diverse tracklist of music that fits together.

Sango

Ever since this Michigan-based producer released Da Rocinha 2 in early 2014, Sango has been getting a lot of attention, even earning a slot at Trillectro last year. The sequel was critically acclaimed due to its banging beats and the influence of Latin musical culture imprinted within every instrumental of the LP. However, Da Rocinha is only one reason why of why Sango is on this list. Not only has this young producer been getting positive reviews for his project, but he’s also been very active over the year. Sango’s been on a remixing spree, including the Kaytranada-produced cut “Wimme Nah”. He’s also teamed up with Goldlink for the song titled “Wassup” in time for his Broccoli City Festival performance, and had a mass number of collabs with rapper Waldo. Lately, Sango has made a new track with Texas-based singer SPZRKT, but let’s hope we get a full project in 2015.

Sango’s Best Mix – Just A Kid In Seattle for HYPETRAK

Sango’s mix for HYPETRAK perfectly illustrated his sound through a tracklist of Hip Hop, Deep House, and with a little bit of original beats. The mix is comprised of songs that reminds Sango of his hometown, Seattle.

Tommy Kruise

This young Canadian producer has been dropping a diverse mix of music over the past few years. In his early years, Tommy Kruise came out of Montreal with an aggressive Memphis underground sound. He grabbed attention with his set of hard-hitting instrumentals from his project Memphis Confidential Vol. 1. Time went by, and Kruise started to switch up his style of beats. He may be native to the Memphis phonk rhythm, Tommy Kruise’s new music takes a more clubbish vibe. Kruise released Fete Foreign last year to legitimize his style switch up, with his soundcloud numbers reaching up over 30,000 plays.

Tommy Kruise’s Best Mix – P### For The Blind

P### For The Blind was a mix that illustrated where Tommy Kruise style was going. Although he still had trap music manifested within his mix, he combines this sound with House and Club music. The combination is odd, yet enjoying.

Eric Dingus

Eric Dingus has been one of the hottest producers looming over the internet lately. Last year was a pretty good year for the Austin, Texas producer. He emerged on to the scene with his unique sound of hard hitting bass and echoed vocals. And eventually stood out enough to earn a co-sign from Drake’s collective, OVO. Dingus continued to be consistent, dropping several mixtapes with artists like Bishop Light, DJ Smokey, and Dowrong. Eric Dingus might just be the future of production in the realm of southern hip hop.

Best Mix – October’s Very Own Presents HAW Eric Dingus Mixtape

Eric Dingus went straight to the local scene in this 40-minute mix, using his signature cloudy vibes to emphasize his style in the mix. The HAW Eric Dingus Mixtape was successful, with over 1 million plays on Soundcloud.

Lunice

Montreal has been a constant location of producers on this list, but Lunice might be the most known in the Hip Hop world. His style of production ranges from Southern Rap to EDM. Lunice has produced music for several artists from Rockie Fresh and Azealia Banks. He’s also been known for dropping dynamic remixes and performing live sets on Soundcloud or at popular DJ venues like the Boiler Room. Lunice is also one half of TNGHT, the production duo who made the song “Higher Ground”. As time goes on, we’ll be seeing more remixes by Lunice and his name show up on more production credits.

Lunice’s Best Mix – Ray Ban x Boiler Room DJ Set

Lunice has some fierce mixes, but this one is one of his dopest ones in recent time. His DJ set at Boiler Set included a solid tracklist of artists ranging from local producers like Tommy Kruise, to old school southern hip hop. There’s also some original content from Lunice and TNGHT’s catalogue.

ASAP Ant Says ASAP Yams Didn't Die From Drug Overdose

It seems like the death of ASAP Yams has hit the Hip Hop community hard today. Many are still sending their condolences to friends and family, while more news come out about the death of the ASAP Mob Founder. Many are still asking how Yams died, an allegations of a drug overdose were rumored. However, ASAP Ant denies that notion.

This morning, DJ Vlad got in contact with Ant via phone and had a discussion about the drug overdose allegations. The ASAP member shut that rumor down quickly. Ant also spoke out about the photos of ASAP Rocky at the hospital where Yams died. Check out the interview below.

Former Rapper Kid Rock Catches Heat Over Dead Cougar

Kid Rock, the rapper-turned-rocker, has caught some serious flack over a picture posted by Right Wing quack Ted Nugent.

In the picture, Rock and another man are posing with a bloody, dead cougar in a snowy scenario. The Facebook community responded in a myriad of ways to the image.

Screen Shot 2015-01-18 at 8.46.30 PM

One woman showed particular disdain for Kid Rock.

Cindy Wagner said, “Lost all respect for Kid Rock. No excuse killing such a beautiful animal for sport! I will never go to any of your concerts or listen to anything you sing ever again. Shame on you, deer is one thing but a beautiful leaped? You don’t rock in my Detroit work ever again.”

“I am 100% for killing to eat but I am 100% against trophy killing. Kill it and grill it, or leave it alone,” one man named Stephen Beddow said on Facebook.

One woman defended the act and offered his reasoning as well.

“He killed the cat because they kill off the deer and other animals. Here in MN, we have the same problem with wolves,” Erika Helen. “They kill off the animals that we depend on for food. In my neck of the woods, no deer means no winter meat. He did a good thing guys.”

Ted Nugent, a well-regarded Republican rocker, explained his position.

“With more mountain lions in North America than ever in recorded history, this magnificent big game animal represents the unique American wildlife success story of hunters paying the way & demanding science based management. Unlike the p###### n####### in CA that waste millions of tax dollars paying to have them killed & reimbursing ranchers & farmers & citizens for the millions of dollars in destroyed livestsock by a cougar population worth nothing & out of control. Criminal anti-wildlife idiots. Makayla & Shelby got their bigass cats on hunts of a lifetime, just like 1000s & 1000s of other cougar hunters every year. Lion-the other whitemeat! Congrats girls! Hunt on.”

How the West Was Won: The 20 Best Left Coast Albums of All-Time

Even with the success of Hip-Hop superstars like Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and 2Pac, West Coast Hip-Hop as a whole has often faced an uphill battle.  Whether, in its early days, playing catch up to compete with its East Coast contemporaries and/or then not being embraced once success was achieved, rap music in the west for a long time did not get a fair shake.

Fortunately, times have changed though.  Dr. Dre, a pillar of West Coast Hip-Hop, is the wealthiest person in all of rap.  The anticipation for the follow-up to Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city continues to grow by the day.  Loyal members of YG’s fan base protested outside of the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles earlier this month to show their disapproval of My Krazy Life being snubbed for a Rap Album of the Year nomination at the upcoming ceremony.  And last but not least, today, January 18, 2015, marks the 10-year anniversary of The Game’s blockbuster debut album, The Documentary.

So out of respect for the past, recognition of the present, and anticipation  for the future of West Coast Hip Hop, AllHipHop.com has put together a list of it’s 20 best albums.

Hate it or love it, here are instances of when the underdog came out on top.

20). Kizz My Black Azz (1992) by MC Ren: Ren is a an incredible artist.  As one of the rappers for N.W.A and the group’s head writer, he proved to be one of the most skilled guys in the game.  This six song EP proved that he even after the end of the group, he hadn’t lost his stride.  If only the project were longer, because the villain is as ruthless as ever here and it’s great to see a once sometimes under appreciated emcee be in a space where is his talent is truly undeniable.

19). Cypress Hill (1991) by Cypress Hill: With their eponymous first album, Cypress Hill continued to bridge the gap between rock and rap.  Also, their pro-marijuana stance was emphasized in the fact their actual music sounded stoned too, like the tracks themselves inhaled a cloud of smoke before they were all mixed and mastered.

18). 21 & Over (1993) by Tha Alkaholiks: In addition to his work as a rapper, another thing that King Tee deserves credit for is the assembly of the Tha Alkaholiks.  On their debut, 21 & Over, they create ten songs of infectious material that perfectly suits the spirit of good times.  Quality over quantity wins again.

17). ’93 ‘Til Infinity (1993) by Souls of Mischief: A-Plus, Tajai, Opio, and Phesto, created a much needed change of pace for California Hip-Hop at the time of this release.  Their subject material was similar to the stuff on gangsta rap albums, but it was far less menacing and explicit.  The title track may have stalled at No. 72 on the charts back in the day, but its influence looms larger than ever now.  J. Cole and Big K.R.I.T., just to name a few, have rhymed over the instrumental.

16). Above the Rim Soundtrack (1994) by various: In addition to being the soundtrack to a great movie, this is also one of the best compilations to ever emerge out of the urban music scene.  And now thanks to digital music libraries, “Pain,” “Loyal to the Game,” and “Mi Monie Rite” aren’t restricted to just the cassette tape versions like they once were.

15). In a Major Way (1995) by E-40:  To paraphrase a line from “Sprinkle Me”: In a Major Way is hipper than a hippopotamus.

14). Quik is the Name (1991) by DJ Quik: Quik’s career behind the boards is iconic, but the props for his offerings as a solo artist have yet to surpass the buzz he created with this debut.  Like N.W.A, he was from Compton  and took pride in it (“Born and Raised in Compton”).  But he was seemingly determined to be more about chilling than killing.  Mission accomplished.  Almost a quarter of century later, “Tonite” can still get a party going.

13). Born to Mack (1987) by Too Short: This album is as much of an old-school classic as the Cadillac car on its cover.  After a few independent releases, Short Dog used his Jive debut to shine a national spotlight on Oakland’s pimp culture.  When I spoke with him in 2012, he said, “I feel that somewhere along the line I had always intended for it [rap] to be a mixture of funny sh*t, ignorant sh*t, social commentary type sh*t- just a reflection of me.  But somewhere down the line, people liked the dirty stuff a little better.”  Don’t hate the player; hate the game.

12). Power (1988) by Ice-T: Gangsta rap frequently prides itself on “keeping it real,” but the realness of what’s being discussed (sex, drugs, violence) often reaches caricature-like proportions.  Ice-T, however, is a pioneer who had his own brand of reality rap.  Instead of glorify the stories of the streets, he used them as cautionary tales.  This album has some of the best examples.  Clearly, this album has more of a purpose than what LL Cool J claimed in “To Da Break of Dawn.”

11). No One Can Do It Better (1989) by The D.O.C.: With this album, The D.O.C. made himself the Rakim of the West with his exemplary lyricism and flow.  Sadly, a car crash not long after this dropped severely damaged his vocal chords.  He is also yet another example of Dr. Dre’s incredible talent for finding talent.

10). Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (1992): The production on this album is amazing, and there is no filler on it at all.  Plus, “Passing Me By” is one of the greatest rap songs ever made.

9). The Documentary (2005) by The Game: Game’s alignment with 50 Cent and G-Unit helped make The Documentary a highly-anticipated release.  Fortunately, Game’s skills lived up to the hype and then some and the album revived West Coast Hip-Hop after years on the back burner.  And while his connection with Fif was short lived, the music they made together is timeless.  “I take all the credit for putting the West back on the map / If you ain’t feeling that, guess I’m Guerrilla Black.”

8). Bow Down (1996) by Westside Connection: The title track for this release is a metaphor for the entire project.  Three skilled emcees asserting their dominance atop heavy bass and synths.  Additionally, the sampling of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt” and the borrowing of the melody to The Beatles’ “A Little Help From my Friends” on two other respective tracks make the “Worldwide Westside” that’s laid out in the album intro sound very appealing.

7). good kid, m.A.A.d city (2012) by Kendrick Lamar:  On an album where Kendrick rapped over a beat CD in “Backseat Freestyle,” collaborated with MC Eiht on “m.A.A.d city,”and had a 12-minute epic with “Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst,” it’s clear the then 25-year old was wise beyond his years.  This was a narrative album for the ages which solidified his spot as one of the best emcees of his generation.

6). The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory (1996) by 2Pac: The last album that 2Pac recorded in his lifetime, under the name Makaveli, is his most powerful collection of songs.  The passion in the delivery of his words, for better or for worse, is undeniable.  “I ain’t a killer, but don’t push me / Revenge is like the sweetest joy next to getting p***y.”  It’s the realest s**t he ever wrote.

5). Death Certificate (1991) by Ice Cube: In ’91, Cube put out one of the best albums of his entire career.  In just over an hour, among other things, he foresaw the L.A. riots as a result mounting tensions (“Black Korea”), spoke on the plight of the underprivileged (“A Bird in the Hand”), and put a mirror up to his own community (“Us”).  The balance between hardcore and conscious rap that Ice Cube achieved here was flawless and remains unmatched to this day.

4). All Eyez on Me (1996) by 2Pac: Mr. Shakur’s first Death Row release doesn’t just epitomize the “Thug Life” tattoo on his stomach, but it also represents West Coast rap  to the fullest in terms of sight, sound, and style.  This is one of only seven rap albums that have gone diamond.  After just one listen to it, it’s easy to hear why.

3). Doggystyle (1993) by Snoop Doggy Dogg: While there were certainly gangsta rap elements to this album, Snoop wasn’t always angry like so many of his contemporaries.  And because of that, it broadened Doggystyle’s audience.  Instead of the listener feeling like they were along for the ride on a drive-by shooting, it was if they were attendees at the coolest house party in the neighborhood.

2). Straight Outta Compton (1988) by N.W.A: Straight Outta Compton forever changed the look and sound of not just Hip-Hop, but all of popular music.  The sequencing of the 13-tracks could be better in spots.  However, that’s just a minor misstep when compared to how millions of people started rooting for the bad guys because of these “n****z with attitude.”

1). The Chronic (1992) by Dr. Dre: Dr. Dre ushered in G-Funk with N.W.A (“Alwayz Into Somethin’”), but it wasn’t until his solo debut that he perfected it.  The way in which he fused those soundscapes, Snoop’s flow, and the aggression of inner-city California all together created a masterpiece.  Hardcore Hip-Hop never sounded so clean.

Ace Hood Drops Official Video For "We Don't" Featuring Rich Homie Quan

Ace Hood’s name might not be as loud as he used to in Hip Hop, but he’s still making low-key moves with big names. Today, the Florida rapper released his official video for the Rich Homie Quan featured single, “We Don’t.” Ace Hood may be doing a bit more singing on this track compared to others in his catalogue, but this cut still knocks. Check out the video for “We Don’t” below.

Yo! Bishop Don Magic Juan! I’m Your Huckleberry!

In this hip-hop landscape, rappers beef on da regular! Who would’ve thunk that religious/spiritual men have beef? Well I have beef with Bishop Don “Magic” Juan! Its high-time somebody in the hip-hop world took this ninja to task—challenge his veracity—chin-check his acumen and I’m the Negro to do it! I give no f#### that you are/were a pimp or that you are/were Snoop Dogg’s “Spiritual Advisor.” Well meet gay hip-hop’s “Spiritual Advisor!” I’m about to run up in your (mental) ass without K-Y Jelly. (You can insert a “Pause” if you’d like.) In the words of Val Kilmer, “I’m your huckleberry!” (19th century slang for “I’m just the right person for the job and I’m just a little better than you!”)

So I wake up Sunday morning after an all-nighter of shaking my tail-feather and go on Instagram where Bishop Don Juan posts—some parrot-ass, regurgitation, Simple-Simon, nursery-rhyme, superficial religiosity concerning homosexuality; “God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” Really? It’s one thing when the laity (common-folk) spouts this, but a man of the cloth?

Bishop says on Instagram in ALL CAPS (as though he’s screaming or making his statement truer), “YOU CAN LEAN TO YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING GOD SAID ADAM AND EVE. NOT ADAM AND STEVE AND JUNE, IT WITH EVERY OTHER SIN YOU WITH BE JUDGED U HEA MEEE 333!”

What an ignorant f###! What did he just write? He’s quoting Proverbs 3:5 and the rest of this gibberish… it’s “JOIN” motherf***er, not “JUNE!” It’s “WILL BE JUDGED,” not “WITH BE JUDGED!” See? This is the kind of ignoramus that stays preaching! His writing tells us that he’s a “jack-leg” preacher (i.e. unlearned) G#######!

Bishop Don Juan is our modern-day apostle Paul (and I don’t f**k with Paul!). Like Paul, who was a raping, incarcerating, murdering, uncle-Tom, traitorous, Benedict Arnold-snitching, lackey, satrap, puppet-dog before his conversion to Jesus, so it is with Bishop Don Juan—a man who raped and murdered the young lives and innocence of countless young girls and women in the name of the pimp-game before he found Jesus. Now he has become the moral authority on gay marriage and proper sexual etiquette. I say, “F**k outta here!” up front. Now!

(Me and Bishop Don “Magic” Juan @ DC’s strip club, Stadium Club. Yeah! I’m not just behind a computer screen! I’m really out cheah!)

Before I deconstruct Don Juan’s simplicity, I’d first like to know who ordained him a “Bishop?” I suspect he received his ordination from Flip Wilson’s, “The Church of What’s Happening Now.” What theological seminary did Don Juan attend or did he stumble upon a new hustle while “walking down the street eating a tuna fish sandwich” (A Richard Pryor joke). Or is his bishop status one of those mail-order credentials? But that’s neither here nor there.

This coon, like many of you, presupposes that marriage is about procreation—making babies. NOT! Marriage is about two consenting adults who fall in-love and want to spend the rest of their lives together. Period. Point-blank! Marriage is a secular event, not a religious affair where your religious views should be interjected into law. You’re in the wrong country.

Not all married couples want children and believe it or not, not all married couples can have children! If having children were the litmus test, prerequisite or criterion for getting married—well—there would be far less marriages. Having children isn’t the be-all, end-all to fulfilling a marriage and let us not forget how many (straight) women have abortions or give their kids up for adoption! The anti-homosexual marriage movement is in no moral position to say anything about gays and lesbians marrying, considering marriage divorce rates are 60% and climbing. Straight people can f### up the institution of marriage, but gay folk gotta stand down?

Indeed! “Man + woman=life,” but we’re living in the age of technology—test tube babies, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), cloning and cryonics. Dare I say that the womb may one day become obsolete? How much longer will you use the “Adam & Steve” argument?

To Bishop Don Juan’s pseudo, preschool, religious post/argument. Let me elevate you son. As a “Bishop” I’m sure you’ve heard of a little religious device known as “exegete.” It means to bring out the original understanding of scripture or critical explanation of scripture. This is where you and many other homophobic fakin’-da-funk Christians get it twisted! The few scriptures that you think are about homosexual love are not about homosexual love at all! You are guilty of using “historical gymnastics” and super-imposing your 21st century understanding on a religious practice that was going on 3,000 years ago—Goddess worship, which used sex (in any form) as ritual and worship. You can’t judge that, neither can you flip the scriptures to fit your disdain for gay marriage! Don’t you find it strange that there is no scripture in the Old Testament condemning lesbianism—chicks bumpin’ uglies?

The Old Testament’s admonishment on homosexuality was never about sex! It was an admonishment on the trappings of Goddess worship and Sodomite worship—religions that had used sex from Time Immemorial to say “I love you” to the Gods. Similarly, the story of Sodom & Gomorrah was not about killing a city full of f######, but rather the killing of an ungrateful and stingy people who violated the ancient unwritten law of HOSPITALITY, according to Ezekiel 16:48-50, which says, “Behold, this was the iniquity [sin] of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread and abundance of idleness… neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy, and they were haughty… therefore I took them away.”

As a follower of Christ, where does Jesus condemn homosexuality? He doesn’t! All you can do is ape, parrot and regurgitate the most simplistic of nursery rhymes to condemn gays. “God didn’t create Adam & Steve?” Oh yes He/She did! S### sounds cool, but is devoid of any substantive historical and religious rigor. Bishop Don Juan is cooning to the religiously ig-nant coons. When are you gonna say something even remotely progressive?

Yo! Bishop Don Magic Juan! You can come on over and join me, President Obama, Jay Z, Rev. Al Sharpton and 50 Cent and support gay rights/marriage or you can continue being a tool-and-a-fool for your Euro-version of Christianity by using the same book that was the “moral pretext” for the enslavement of 100 million Africans (i.e. yo’ black ass!)—to condemn gays OR you can remain being the foot-shufflin’-jack-leg preachin’-yessah-m####-hallelujah-huckster-caricature of the 19th century Uncle-Tom and the laughingstock of Christendom. Get back to pimpin’ and keep this religious s### out of yo’ mouf if you ain’t trying to elevate “ya heah meee 333” (whatever the f**k that ‘pose to mean!) You’re light-work Mr. Man! I dare you to bring me on your show so I can really teach you and your audience something? It ain’t nothin’ but a plane ride. Sincerely, Your Huckleberry.

Who Is ASAP Yams?

Earlier today, sources confirmed that ASAP mob founder, ASAP Yams, has passed away. While many fans, friends, and rappers have sent their condolences to the Hip Hop collective through social media, some just aren’t hip to the impact that Yams has had on the genre as a whole. In 2007, Yams help start ASAP Mob. As time went by, he established an online fanbase  through several successful social media strategies, mainly through his Tumblr account. While the Mob started to establish their steady rise this decade, Yams helped merge fashion culture and Hip Hop even more through the collective. Outside of ASAP Mob, Yams was also contributed to the success of Joey Fatts, Vince Staples, and Ashton Mattews. Many fans have heard Yams on ASAP Songs like Ferg’s “Let It Go” and appeared on videos as well.

ASAP Yams may have died, but his name will always be remembered in the Hip Hop world. His creation of ASAP Mob has made an impact on, fashion, hip hop, and modern pop culture combined. With ASAP Members Rocky, Ferg, and other members dropping projects this year, it looks like Yams’ legacy will continue even after his death.

Jay Z Is Buying Hot 97!?!

YOOOOOOOO! The reason why Funkmaster Flex is heated has become apparent. It seems like Jay Z is looking to buy Hot 97 with a crew of investors. Originally we thought it was because of some Dipset sort of beef, but no. We had heard there were jokes and innuendoes about this Jay buying Hot but MediaTakeOut is saying it is true.

According to a ROCK SOLID SOURCE – Shawn “Jay Z” Carter along with a group of investors that includes NY Knicks star Carmelo Anthony are currently NEGOTIATING TO BUY Hot 97 radio station. Talks are still early, but we’re told that both sides have HIRED LAWYERS and INVESTMENT BANKERS – and are serious in getting a deal done.
Wow – this is going to be BIG NEWS for the city of New York. We guess Funkmaster Flex doesn’t like the idea of Jigga owning the station . . .
