Marlon Wayans Guffaws Over Man Skirts And Lord Jamar “Beef”

Marlon Wayans sure knows how to get people talking.

The most visible member of the revered Wayans Clan and social media guru caused a viral tsunami when he defended his homeboy Omar Epps from the queries of Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian fame. Jamar jump on Epps after he seemingly wore a mini-skirt on “The View,” a mainstream woman’s show. So I – the great Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur – who barely could get a word in – sliced in the middle of a “legends” conversation about Jay Z and Nas and leaped into the “beef” with Lord Jamar. You can hear Marlon take exception to the notion at the beginning of the clip, but he clarifies a few things. Clearly there is no beef, but in this era of sensationalism, its certainly the word that got folks talking. Plus, the conversation dealt with the taboo topic of men in skirts, which has all of Hip-Hop “conversatin’.”

Marlon, while promoting his movie “A Haunted House 2,” let his views known on the topic, Lord Jamar, and his perceived position as the “Defender of Men That Wear Skirts.” Check out in how he responds with his #AHauntedHouse2 co-stars Affion Crockett and Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias watching.

For the record, Omar Epps maintains that his clothing is a nod to his Zulu lineage.

“A Haunted House 2” hits theaters nationwide April 18.

Breeding Ground 5 & Done: Foci

Background Pasadena, California based artist Foci is making a major impact on the independent music scene. His music has been heard on Pandora Radio, The World Famous Wake Up Show, Shade 45 Sirius/XM, KPFK, and many other outlets. He has shared the stage with many great artists such as Rakim, Mos Def, Pharoahe Monch, Jay Electronica, DJ Premier, Raekwon, and Mobb Deep to name a few. And he rocked out with AllHipHop’s official 2014 SXSW Concert in Austin, TX.

AllHipHop.com: What’s good Foci? Give us some background info as to who you are.

Foci: I am Foci, a former high school educator that has been involved in the music industry for over a decade. I’m somewhat of a “normal” person with an abnormal work ethic. College educated and committed to spreading knowledge. I find it important to motivate others by leading by example and have long made a commitment to do just that. There’s nothing like pushing yourself to succeed, it opens the doors of opportunity for yourself and in turn you are able to do the same for others. I’m as much as a business man as I am a musician.

What is the significance of your name?

Foci: Actually there is no real meaning I just got it out of one of those baby name books. Nah just kidding but seriously Foci is defined as the plural of Focus. I’ve served in many different capacities in music from DJing to marketing, production, engineering, event planning, and developing other artists.

Which artists have inspired you?

Foci: Craig Mack because it’s time for some brand new flava in your ear! But most importantly: Peter Tosh for his conviction, Nas for his wisdom, Mos Def for his sensibility, Jay Z for his business savvy, Tupac for his ability to move people, DMX for his live performance, and Drake for his sensitivity.

What single or project are you currently pushing?

Foci: My freshman effort entitled, The Achievement Gap. The Achievement Gap speaks to a young man’s experiences growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles. It details the discrepancies in the California education system and the tragic loses of friends along the way. This album high the plight of common man but also solutions to many of our problems while addressing various facets of academic success measuring up to the standards of the legends I have shared the stage with. The single we are currently pushing off the project is, Peace Up Produced by Diverse. This song chronicles a situation with a close friend and his struggles with drug addiction, mental illness, and the decision he ultimately made about it.

Any final words for the people

Foci Speak on the music that you love more than the music that you hate. I have a lot of great things in store and would love for each and everyone to reach out to me so we can continue this discussion about education, arts, and progress in our culture. You can keep in touch with me online on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook all under the name iamFoci. And log on to www.iamfoci.com. Peace in war Education in music.

Chilli Reflects On 15th Anniversary Of “No Scrubs” & Response Track “No Pigeons”

(AllHipHop News) Fifteen years ago top-selling female group TLC released their smash single “No Scrubs.”

The track was praised by many women for its takedown of “do-nothing” men, and many guys hated the song for what they saw as its “male-bashing” agenda.

Billboard spoke with TLC’s Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas about “No Scrubs.” Chilli shared her thoughts about the making of the Hot 100 #1 single including why she was selected to sing lead over Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins on the Kandi Burruss and Tameka “Tiny” Collette penned song.

“[T-Boz] kind of has her raspy sound,” said Chilli. “I come and put the pretty on the song, so to speak. Her voice is edgy. Mine is very angelic. We can tell whose voice will be better for what. This particular one, it wasn’t even about who’s gonna do it. We knew automatically: Yeah, I got this one. I kind of bring that pop feel. Everyone has their role.”

The success on “No Scrubs” sparked the Sporty Thievz response track “No Pigeons.” Chilli found the song funny, but she also took a few shots at the Yonkers, New York rap group’s version.

“I thought it was hilarious,” said Chilli. “It just sounded like some little boys crying. I was like, ‘Oh, they’re such little babies. They can’t take it.'”

According to Chilli, while “No Scrubs” had its male critics, there were a good number of men who enjoyed the tune as well.

“To me, it’s one of those songs that guys—especially if you’re a guy’s guy—you like it, but you don’t want anybody to know you like it,” added Chilli.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Is This Aaliyah?

Looks like there is an official winner to the Aaliyah movie race. I’ll be damned if it hasn’t been long enough! We need this story to be told, but told right. So apparently, this woman named L##### Price is the latest person to get looped in as “Baby Girl.” I am hearing she is doing the role for her uncanny resemblance to the late singer. What’s funny to me is that there’s some validity to the rumors. I’m hearing Price is SUPER NERVOUS about the role, because Aaliyah still has an incredibly rabid fan base! Can she handle the whole weight of this huge movie? We’ll see, I guess!

Check the resemblance.

DJ Envy Calls Out DJ Drama For Being A Fake Friend

(AllHipHop News) A recent Breakfast Club interview featuring DJ Drama went from the typical promo Q&A to an open conversation about friendship and loyalty when co-host DJ Envy addressed his issues with Dram.

About 12 and half minutes into the interview fellow BC host Charlamagne Tha God asked Envy why he was being “shady” toward Drama.

Envy explains he felt slighted by Drama for not reaching out to him when he decided not to work on a Breakfast Club mixtape.

“I hear Dram said he can’t do the tape, cause if Dram do the tape another radio station won’t play his record. I’m like, Damn, my n***a can’t even call me and tell me,” said Envy. “F**k them n***as. I don’t give a f**k about the politics of the music s**t. That’s my n***a for a long time.”

He adds, “That ain’t a friendly type of individual. That ain’t my friend. That ain’t somebody that I f**ks with. That’s a n***a I don’t f**k with.”

Drama replied by trying to explain how he was pulled between supporting the different radio stations in the New York area.

“I was in a very awkward position and situation in this New York radio station situation,” said Drama. “I was put in the position, on a lot of sides, where I felt like I was caught in the middle where I didn’t want to be, and it became awkward for me.”

Drama further explained how he was banned at rival Hot 97 at one point, and was worried about burning bridges with the station. He did apologize to Envy for not calling him about cancelling the mixtape, and they resolved their issues.

Drake Disguises Himself & Asks Random People What They Think About Him (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Drake is one of the most polarizing figures in Hip Hop. For every person that loves his music there is a person that loves to hate on him.

The Drake fans and haters mostly likely had a lot to say about him being announced as the host of the upcoming ESPYs awards.

Jimmy Kimmel wanted to get an idea of what people on the street think about the Canadian rap star, so the late night host sent Drake out in disguise to ask random folks questions about him and his hosting skills at the ESPN event. Only thing is the ESPYs are scheduled for July 16th.

Obviously, the interview subjects had not seen the event, but that did not stop them from knocking Drake in any way that they could. One person responded, “Drake is kind of an outlandish guy. He says that he came from the bottom which most likely he didn’t,” and another person provides a freestyle about how he sucks.

One guy even called Drake “a chicken head” when he was told the rapper cried at the show. Drizzy did get some support with one super fan saying he is a “genuine guy.”

The beef between The Game and 40 Glocc is getting very serious, especially in light of The Game temporarily losing his kids.

But, I heard a rumor The Game actually pistol whipped 40 Glocc and there is video evidence of the beat down. Now, the person that claims to have this footage is purportedly trying to sell it. I’m thinking TMZ is going to win that bid if it exists. However, I suspect it does not exist and it may be a prank or something. Nevertheless, God Bless these dudes man. They are going back an forth on social media and sending coded messages that we all pick up on.

Kendrick Lamar Song Mentioned In Oscar Pistorius’ Murder Trial

(AllHipHop News) American Hip Hop star Kendrick Lamar became a part of the murder trial of Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius in South Africa. Pistorius, aka The Blade Runner, is accused of killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013.

During the case, the prosecutor asked Pistorius if Lamar’s song “B***h, Don’t Kill My Vibe” led to an argument between he and Steenkamp during a car ride. A WhatsApp message that has been used as evidence in the trial included Steenkamp referring to the song.

The message included Steenkamp saying:

I’m scared of you sometimes and how u snap at me and how of you will react to me. You make me happy 90% of the time and I think we are amazing together but I am not some other b***h you may know trying to kill your vibe.

Pistorius then replied:

I was upset that you just left me after we got food to go talk to a guy and I was standing right behind you watching you touch his arm and ignore me. And when I spoke up you introduced me which you could’ve done but when I left you just kept on chatting to him when clearly I was upset. I asked Martin to put on that Kendrick Lamar album in the car and don’t know it… Granted that it was a s**t song but you should’ve just lent forward and whispered in my ear to change it seeing as I had to drive to pick up your friend.

When asked by Chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel if the name of the song he was referring to was “B***h, Don’t Kill My Vibe,” Pistorius claimed he could not remember. Nel replied that Steenkamp can’t confirm it either.

“We can’t ask her,” said Nel.
