Coolio: I Am Not Signed To A P### Site But I Have A Song Called "Play With The P*ssy"

(AllHipHop News) Coolio wants a few things to be clear: he’s not signed to a p### site, he has nothing ot prove to anyone but his banker and he doesn’t watch p### because he can make it himself. In a recent interview, Coolio denied rumors that he signed to PornHub and will be releasing an album through the p### site.

On Tuesday (July 22nd), TMZ reported that Coolio had signed a deal with p### site PornHub to release a new album through the site. According to Coolio in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, TMZ fabricated the story and not only is he not releasing an album through Pornhub but may never release another album again:

They made that sh*t up completely. I didn’t talk to them about s### and they didn’t ask me any questions. That s### was a f#####’ promo song for the website. That’s it! I met some executive from Pornhub while he was out [in Las Vegas] for the AVNs. We hung out; he was cool. He asked me to do a song for Pornhub and that was it. It’s not even my song that I’m putting out. I’m never doing a new album.

Coolio admitted that he rarely spoke about sexual topics in his music in the past but with age has come a desire to indulge in his sexuality on songs. He says he recorded a song entitled “Play With The P*ssy” which he describes as a “PSA mixed into a clever, fun song” that instructs people to “Make sure you wash your hands/Before youuuuuu/Play with the p*ssy”.

Coolio shot the promo song for PornHub in Sherman Oaks, CA surrounded by p### stars. However, according to Coolio, the video shoot had to change its original location due to racism:

That was one of the most racist days I’ve ever experienced in my life. We were supposed to shoot the whole video at this lady’s house in Whittier, [California]. It’s a nice house in a beautiful neighborhood, but her neighbors called the cops because they saw black people going into the house. They filed a formal complaint and it was either, “Shut down the video or somebody’s going to jail.”

Nas Speaks On Discovering His Ancestry Via PBS Series "Finding Your Roots"

(AllHipHop News) Throughout his career Nas has used his music to explore and present historical information he felt was relevant to his listeners, so it’s not surprising the Queens emcee took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about his own family history.

Nas was able to accomplish that personal reflection thanks to the PBS series Finding Your Roots. The show’s host and executive producer, Henry Louis Gates Jr. of Harvard University, tapped Nas to become the first Hip Hop star to be featured on the program.

The experience greatly affected Nas. He spoke at a panel discussion about one particular moment when he saw 1859 papers showing one of his ancestors was sold as a slave.

“First I was enraged when I looked at the bill of sale,” said Nas. “I was like, that guy that owned property owes me some cash. My people made him really wealthy, so maybe I should find his family and talk.”

As Nas and Gates use Finding Your Roots to take a look back at the past, but both men are also actively involved in building Hip Hop culture’s future. The Nasir Jones Hiphop Fellowship is a key part of the Hiphop Archive and Research Institute at Harvard’s Du Bois Institute.

“Nas is a true visionary, and he consistently shows how boundaries can be pushed and expanded to further the cause of education and knowledge. The work of the Du Bois Institute is enriched by the addition of the Nasir Jones Hiphop Fellowship,” stated Gates.

Rich Homie Quan Explains Why He Slapped A Man At His Concert

(AllHipHop News) When news first broke that Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan slapped someone at a recent concert in Wisconsin, the original reports claimed Quan’s recation was sparked because a fan was trying to get on stage with him. The “Type of Way” performer now says that was not the case.

“The person that tried to rob me was not one of my fans. My fans are loyal to me,” Quan told TMZ. “I did what anyone else would do if they were being robbed.”

Quan’s explanation is different from what he announced to the crowd that night. In a video, he can be heard telling the audience, “I thought he was trying to shake my hand. This n***a tried to get on stage.”

Rich Homie Quan will join Wiz Khalifa, Jeezy, Tyga, and several other rap stars on the “Under The Influence Of Music Tour.” The trek begins tonight (July 24) in Scranton, Pennsylvania and runs until August 24.

Questlove Addresses Claims Iggy Azalea Represents "Culture Vulture-ism" In Hip Hop

(AllHipHop News) With her single “Fancy” dominating the season, Iggy Azalea has become a main topic of conversation in rap music over the last few months.

For some, Iggy represents the “Elvisization” of Hip Hop. For others, she is a symbol of how far the culture has expanded.

Hip Hop veteran Questlove was asked if he was “pro- or anti-Iggy Azalea” in an interview with Time. The Roots drummer used the opportunity to share his thoughts on the Australian performer and what her hit song means for the current state of Hip Hop.

Questlove said:

I’m caught in between. And I defend it. I see false Instagram posts like, “She said the N-word! She said the N-word!” I’ll call people out — “Yo, don’t troll.” I know you’re ready to give your 42-page dissertation on theGrio about why this is culture vulture-ism. You know, we as black people have to come to grips that hip-hop is a contagious culture. If you love something, you gotta set it free. I will say that “Fancy,” above any song that I’ve ever heard or dealt with, is a game-changer in that fact that we’re truly going to have to come to grips with the fact that hip-hop has spread its wings….

I’m not going to lie to you, I’m torn between the opinions on the Internet, but I’mma let Iggy be Iggy. It’s not even politically correct dribble. The song is effective. I’m in the middle of the approximation of the enunciation, I’ll say. Part of me hopes she grows out of that and says it with her regular dialect — I think that would be cooler. But, yeah, “Fancy” is the song of the summer.

Busta Rhymes Explains Why He Parted Ways With Cash Money Records (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Many Hip Hop fans were surprised when New York rap legend Busta Rhymes announced he had joined the roster at Cash Money Records. And now, after several years, the partnership between Busta and YMCMB has come to an end.

Busta recently appeared on Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning and revealed that he is no longer with the label. Creative differences were the main reason his upcoming E.L.E. 2 (Extinction Level Event 2) will not be released on Baby and Slim’s imprint.

For me, with this particular project and all of the sacrifice that went into it – recording the album for five years. I ain’t put out an album since ’09, so I’ve been working on this album for a long time. I lose Chris Lighty making this album. I lose my father making this album. The s**t I was putting into this album, I’m not compromising my vision for it.

So if I feel like, in the slightest way, we ain’t facilitating everything necessary for the vision to be seen through and executed in the way that I’ve been envisioning this s**t for the last five years, let me live and die in my own inequity. That’s really all it came down to.

The Conglomerate general also explains the split was not viewed with any negativity by either party, and he is willing to do business with Cash Money in the future.

EXCLUSIVE: Wes Jackson Explains MTV's "Moral Obligation" To Invest In Black and Latino Culture + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) In business, you invest money in endeavors that you project will yield sustainable results. In the second part of our EXCLUSIVE interview with Brooklyn Bodega’s Wes Jackson and Juels Pierrot, the duo discusses the moral and business benefits of MTV investing in the Black and Latino culture, Dame Dash and Funkmaster Flex’s feud and more.

On July 1st, MTV’s parent company Viacom’s Music Group began its Director Diversity Program designed to enroll particularly women and ethnic minorities in shadowing programs where they’ll be mentored by directors in non-drama and episodic series. According to Wes Jackson, MTV investing in the Black and Latino culture is a moral and business imperative:

It’s like a moral obligation. There’s a sense of you’re coming into the community and there’s these young Black men and women. Or if you’re going to make a racial thing, these young latina women and young latino men, you should sort of give back to the community because you just earned a lot from it. From a business perspective, the way that you’re going to…it’s almost like they’re cutting down all the trees and not planting no new trees. Eventually, you’re just going to run out of resources so you should even reinvest in the community so you can  create. [Me and Juels] was talking about this today, you need new customers. You need to create new customers.

MTV appointed their first Chief Diversity Officer on October 28th, 2005 with the hire of former Chief Diversity Officer of Hudson Highland Group Billy Dexter. In the press release for Dexter’s appointment, MTV’s former Chairman and CEO Judy McGrath stated MTV is “completely committed to diversity and inclusion, because it’s the most creative and vibrant thing we can do for our future.”

Jackson connected his current gripe with Viacom and MTV to Emmis Communications benefiting in ad revenue off of Dame Dash and Funkmaster Flex’s recent back-and-forth:

Who was really the one going at Dame? It was Funkmaster Flex, a Black man. So,one Black man on one of the biggest platforms in the country, trying  to eviscerate another Black man. That’s exactly what Dame was talking about. It’s that we start chasing this check and next thing we know we ripping each other apart. Who’s sitting there earning them advertising dollars watching Flex and Dame go at each other. It’s Emmis [Communications].
