(AllHipHop News) Quentin Tarantino has dangled the prospect of his next project since 2012’s Django Unchained for over a year. During a recent press conference at the Cannes film festival, Tarantino divulged plans to turn the 2012 film into a miniseries for television.
According to Tarantino, he will use 90 minutes of unreleased Django Unchained footage for a planned miniseries consisting of four hour-long chapters. While Tarantino did not reveal how he will release the TV he does allude to the Netflix-style of binge watching where they release all the episodes of a TV series at once:
It would be a mini-series and people love those. You show people a four-hour movie and they roll their eyes. Show people a four-part mini-series and they’ll sit and watch it all in one sitting.

(AllHipHop News) On August 29th, 2005, southeast Louisiana was hit with a Category 5 hurricane, Louisiana particularly experiencing over 80% of the reported 1,836 deaths from Hurricane Katrina. In a recent interview with GQ, Mike Meyers discussed his views on the racial differences in the treatment of people during Hurricane Katrina and speaks on Kanye West’s infamous “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people” statement.
According to Meyers, West informed him prior to his infamous remarks about former President Bush that “he was going to take some liberties” with his speech. Before saying that he was “super proud to have been next to him”, Meyers admitted that while West’s comments may have been slightly exaggerrated, they conveyed an uncomfortable truth about the treatment of the people of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina:
I assume that George Bush does care about black people—I mean I don’t know him, I’m going to make that assumption—but I can definitively say that it appeared to me watching television that had that been white people, the government would have been there faster. And so to me that’s really the point—the look on my face is, to me, almost insulting to the true essence of what went down in New Orleans.

The quadruple force that is Havok Jones, uniquely comprised of Kea Aleis, MaiDai, Aire B. and Neiko, have just released their first single “Who Can I Run To,” a remake of the ‘90s super group Xscape’s chart-topping single, off their homage-based EP. Executive produced by super producer Miyk Snoddy, who has created for the likes of The Dream, Kelly Rowland, Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Estelle, Jamie Foxx and Lupe Fiasco, and vocal arranged/produced by emerging songwriter and producer Leon Giles, Side A of the two-part series includes five new renditions of ‘90s girl groups favorites.
“We’re so thankful and excited for the opportunity to honor the women who influenced us by creating an entire project dedicated to their great music,” said Havok Jones. “There are so many groups who inspired us and we want to start our careers by showing our appreciation because without them there would be no us. Sisterhood is our foundation.”
The group has been described as one who embodies the vocal ability of En Vogue, charisma of TLC, star power of Destiny’s Child and strength of Xscape. As far as Havok Jones is concerned, the resurgence of the girl group starts and ends with them! The group released their viral single “Where You At,” which will be a bonus track on their new EP, last week and will hit the pavement running with their radio single “WhoYou?” feat. Young Thug at the top of June also featured on the EP. Side B of the innovative project will release late summer. Check out their Xscape cover below!

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent may be in the middle of promoting his upcoming album Animal Ambition, but that did not stop the Queens rapper from sharing his thoughts on the Donald Sterling saga.
While most of the media and the public focused on the racist comments Sterling was taped telling “girlfriend” V. Stiviano and his later rants against Magic Johnson on CNN, 50 seemed to be more concerned with the relationship between Sterling and Stiviano, and how the Los Angeles Clippers owner was “betrayed.”

50 told XXL:
I’m going to be honest with you. I couldn’t get past the concept of looking at an older man talking to a woman he was in love with and making probably the biggest compromise ever, saying maybe, ‘If you like them, be with them. Sleep with them. Just don’t embarrass me.’ So some of the things he said following that were inappropriate, but he’s saying to you that there’s other people around that I’m being embarrassed by that think and feel the way I feel. Now you’ve got one person that you’re pointing to, penalizing for that. He’s actually saying at that point, ‘Just don’t embarrass me.’ Meaning, there’s other people that feel exactly like me here to be embarrassed by. I just watched it, and I just saw a man being betrayed.

(AllHipHop News) Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban created a stir this week with comments he made during an interview with Inc. In the aftermath of the Donald Sterling controversy, Cuban addressed the issue of race and bigotry in the video Q&A. He suggested everyone prejudges others, including himself.

“If I see a black kid in a hoodie and it’s late at night, I’m walking to the other side of the street,” said Cuban. “And if on that side of the street, there’s a guy that has tattoos all over his face – white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere – I’m walking back to the other side of the street.”
While some praised the Shark Tank star for openly admitting his own prejudices, the statement also drew criticism for what was seen as an unbalanced equivalency of being fearful of an African American child wearing an article of clothing as compared to a white man with face tattoos.
The comments also upset others, because it seemed to reference the sensitive subject of the tragic killing of Trayvon Martin. Cuban took to Twitter to apologize to Martin’s family, but stood by the rest of his statements.

(AllHipHop News) The Internet went into a frenzy when the Together Boston Musical Festival posted a message on its website claiming Mos Def (aka Yasiin Bey) was barred from re-entering the United States. The organizers stated that “immigration/legal issues” were preventing the rapper/actor from performing at their event.

Times Live is reporting that those statements are completely untrue. The South African based publication spoke with a friend of Mos Def. Abdi “Whosane” Hussein is denying that the Brooklyn born artist is unable to return to the States.
“[Mos Def] has never attempted to enter any country and been refused. It’s a complete lie,” says Hussein. “In fact, if there was anything criminal against you, they would invite you back so they could lock you up.”
Hussein, who appeared on the 2010 track “Taxi” with Mos, is another American currently living in Cape Town, South Africa. Mos Def moved to the country in 2013. Earlier this year he told an audience at Cape Town’s Music Exchange Conference that it was hard for him to leave his home, but he was glad he relocated.
The “Umi Says” performer is currently participating at the Re-imagination Creative Hub in Addis Ababa. The program is part of the African Union’s “Agenda 2063” global strategy to “optimize use of Africa’s resources for the benefit of all Africans.”
Hussein adds it is Mos Def’s work on various projects on the Continent that has caused him to move the dates of his concert appearances in America, not any government prevention.

THIS JUST IN: Reports Mos Def Is Banned From Entering U.S. Are A “Complete Lie” Says Friend
MOS DEF aka YASIIN BEY IS FROM BROOKLYN!
Why the hell can’t he get back into the United States of American, where is is a naturalized citizen? You probably know, last year Mos made a video that was seen by millions and millions of people over the world. Mos Def’s video was one that was protesting the force feeding of prisoners involved in hunger strikers at Guantanamo Bay. Some have speculated that the video has p##### off and subsequently embarrassed the U.S. government. They are now making it hard on one of Hip-Hop’s most outspoken artists, I’m hearing.

I don’t know exactly how this sort of spite works. Despite may questions, answers are few. Hopefully he can find some resolution soon.

(AllHipHop News) The speculation surrounding Kanye West’s next album has been ongoing for months.
There were reports Ye was going to try his hand at spoken word on the project. Then producer Evian Christ stated the Chicago rapper wanted a sound “a bit like Otis Redding, a bit like Mobb Deep.” One of the earliest stories was the Yeezus follow-up would only be eight songs.

More sources are now saying that may not be the case. According to Billboard, Kanye’s seventh studio album will have more than eight songs. It is also said to have a similar tone to Yeezus with a return to Ye using soul samples.
The music publication reports:
A source says that as of two-weeks ago, there’s 12 songs on the album. Out of six heard, it’s “mostly a mixture of soul samples and tamed ‘Yeezus’-esque darkness… nothing abrasive.”

(AllHipHop News) In Hip Hop and the urban community at large have a generally adversarial attitude towards the police. In a recent interview with Vegas Seven, the first police officers at the scene of Tupac’s fatal shooting back in 1996 spoke about Tupac’s final words.
The former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, Chris Carroll states that he received the call of gunfire near the intersection of Flamingo and Koval around 11:15p.m. and was the only police officer in the vicinity. According to Carroll, when he initially attempted to get Tupac to reveal the identity of his shooter, ‘Pac was too busy “trying to yell at Suge”:
So I’m looking at Tupac, and he’s trying to yell back at Suge, and I’m asking him, ‘Who shot you? What happened? Who did it?’ And he was just kind of ignoring me. He was making eye contact with me here and there, but he’s trying to yell at Suge. And I kept asking over and over, ‘Who did this? Who shot you?’ And he basically kept ignoring me. And then I saw in his face, in his movements, all of a sudden in the snap of a finger, he changed. And he went from struggling to speak, being noncooperative, to an ‘I’m at peace’ type of thing. Just like that.
Carroll later details the last words Tupac uttered before “he started gurgling and slipping out of consciousness”:
He looked at me and he took a breath to get the words out, and he opened his mouth, and I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation. And then the words came out: ‘F*ck you.
Check out Carroll’s full account of Tupac’s last living and conscious moments here.

(AllHipHop News) 50 Cent stopped by SiriusXM’s Hip Hop Nation last night and spoke with DJ Envy about not being at his son’s graduation, why Solange would have never swung on him if he was in Jay Z’s position in the elevator fight and more
50 Cent built an empire on the image of a man who survived nine bullet shots and is an aggressive marketer. According to 50, that image would have kept Solange Knowles hands off of him if he was in Jay Z’s position during the infamous elevator fight:
I think that they would understand that if you do that then I don’t actually have the ability to not [retaliate]. I think that’s happening because that he can sustain and watch. Now, if you know a person’s temperament…Lil Mama walking on stage, she feels that comfortable with Jay. If I was there, she wouldn’t have walked on that stage with me.
Earlier this week, news surfaced that 50 Cent was absent at his son, Marquise Jackson’s high school graduation. 50 Cent explains that the root of the reason for his absence is Marquise’s mother and their lack of communication:
We don’t have communication like that. During the Easter holiday, they stopped by my grandparents home and talk to some of my aunts and said some stuff about it. But, they didn’t say anything to me about it. I’m overseas at the time they could’ve easily said ‘is there way I can reach out to him to give him the actual time and place?’ Really what it is is a girl looks for any opportunity where she can shed some light on her being associated with me in some way.
Check out 50 Cent’s interview with DJ Envy below:
Future and Cici have been oozing with happiness since the birth of their new baby boy, Future. But according to sources, Future may have skipped out on the actual labor.:
Sandra Rose reports:
“When the news broke that songbird Ciara finally gave birth to her first baby and rapper Future‘s 4th child on Monday many wondered if Future was present when Ciara gave birth. It turns out Future was nowhere near the delivery room when Ciara gave birth to little Future Zahir Wilburn on May 19.
According to Hot 97′s DJ Flex, Future was performing live onstage at VICE’s Bacardi “Loud and Untamable” event in Brooklyn, NY hours after Ciara gave birth. Surely he could’ve canceled the performance when he learned that Cici went into labor?”
Hmmmm now we would hope Future wouldn’t miss his baby boy’s birth…but you never know…
