Rev Run Helps Launch New Social Media App VOWCH

(AllHipHop News) Music fans are always trying to find an effective way to discover new artists, and a lot of the time the best new acts are discovered by learning about them from friends. A new app created by David Parker, Jeremy Parker, Amir Ben-Sheffer, and Jesse Itzler is updating the traditional word-of-mouth promotion for the digital age.

Reverend Run of Run-D.M.C., DJ Steph Floss, and DJ Shawty Slim are teaming together to help launch VOWCH. The interactive app allows users to “vowch” for limitless items and people; everything from music artists to apparel to television characters. The Vowches serve as firsthand recommendations to friends.

“The thing about VOWCH that I love is that I get to put my very own stamp of approval on the things that are interesting to me. From music, to sports, to random things I see, VOWCH is my digital thumbs up on the world around me,” said B.o.B. touring DJ Shawty Slim in statement.

What separates VOWCH’s “likes” from other social media platforms is that regular users receive points for the Vowches that earn the most interest. The highest earners are then placed on the “Boss List” as leaders in each particular category.

Users can also add their own description, music, photos, video, links, or maps to each Vowch, and their friends can then like, comment, or Re-vowch.

“We wanted to build a platform that in 30 seconds or less allows you to quickly give your friends a rich picture of what you’re into and a taste of why you’re into it,” adds Parker. “It’s amazing how much cool stuff there is out there to discover. But even when people like the same thing, they often like different aspects of it and have different reasons for liking it.”

Michael Jackson Named Highest Earning Dead Celebrity

(AllHipHop News) Michael Jackson is still the king. The iconic international superstar was named the highest earning dead celebrity for 2013 by Forbes. Not only was MJ the top among the dearly departed, but he out earned every living entertainer as well.

By Forbes estimates, Jackson made $160 million over the past year besting Madonna’s $125 million total as most amongst those performers still alive. The King of Pop dwarfed the second highest earning dead celebrity. Elvis Presley came in a distant second with $55 million.

Most of Jackson’s earnings came from two Cirque du Soleil shows based on his music. The Immortal World Tour has reportedly grossed $300 million and One is a huge hit at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. He also still earns revenue from his musical catalog and from his publishing ownership of songs by The Beatles and others.

New Keenen Ivory Wayans Sit-Com Headed To ABC

(AllHipHop News) The patriarch of the Wayans comedy clan is looking to leave his mark on television once again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has ordered a pilot by Keenen Ivory Wayans. The creative force behind I’m Gonna G## You Sucka will serve as a writer and executive producer for the 30-minute sit-com.

The premise of the show will center around the “whitest guy in America” marrying into a black family. Wayans is not listed as a performer on the program.

Wayans has a long history in show business as a screenwriter, director, and producer. His previous stints on television include the classic sketch comedy show In Living Color and the late-night talk show The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show. He also produced or directed many of his family members movies like Scary Movie, White Chicks, and Dance Flick.

Snoop Dogg’s Highly Recruited Son Suspended From HS Game After On Field Brawl (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) High profile athletes have learned that with every positive headline often comes those stories that don’t paint them in the greatest light. Snoop Dogg’s son Cordell Broadus is only 16-years-old, but the high school junior is also one of the top college recruits in the country. So even the former co-star of the Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood reality show is subject to the watchful eye of the media.

TMZ got footage of Cordell involved in a brawl during a recent football game. According to the celebrity site, the 4-star wide receiver threw a punch during a game last Friday night and has been suspended one game by the California Interscholastic Federation.

It was recently reported that Broadus was offered a scholarship to play at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are one of several Division 1-A schools interested in adding him to their roster in 2015.

KNOCKOUT NATION: Who Should Money Mayweather Fight Next?

At this point, you would have to had been living under a rock for the past 6 years or so to not know that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the ‘meal ticket’ when it comes to boxing spectacles. His last two fights alone generated well over 100+ million in revenue for himself if you tally up his pre-fight guarantees along with the back end money he’s expected to make off PPV sales. When boxers get into the ring with ‘Money”, well, that is exactly what they’re expect to earn in return; most of the time, this is when boxers earn their biggest career paydays. With that said, which boxer (or victim) is most qualified to earn their highest grossing payday to date against Floyd next spring? I compiled a list of potential candidates that will perhaps be in the running for the ”Money May” sweepstakes. I begin first with:

Danny Garcia (27-0, 16KOs)

Philadelphia’s undefeated WBC/WBA junior welterweight champ, Danny Garcia. All this guy does is defeat who the mass majority aren’t even expecting him to beat. This includes: Eric Morales (fight #1), Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, and the list goes on. While I believe this young lion would be in way over his head skill wise against Floyd, I do believe that he deserves at least a good payout against Mayweather, he’s paid his dues. If Canelo could get one this early in his career, then why not Danny?

Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KOs)

This one picked up a little steam right after Mayweather’s defeat over Cannel Alvarez. Rumors circulated that Khan decided to cancel his negotiations against IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander for a Dec, 7th bout. Instead, it was cited that he wanted to postpone any activity and enter into the “Mayweather Sweepstakes”. Does he deserve this shot? NO, but this is a matter of economics. To quote one of my favorite movies, “Training Day”, Denzel was quoted as saying “It’s not what you know, it’s what you can prove”; I’d like to revise that a little bit in this case by saying “It’s not what you deserve, it’s what you can provide or offer”. Amir has a very large UK fan-base which could in the end make this a very enticing selection for Floyd come May, 3rd.

Epic Fail of the Day: Kat Stacks Admits to More Publicity Stunts, Gets Worldstar Logo Tatted on Her Butt

Y’all still messing with Kat Stacks…sigh. Anyway, since she has been vocal on twitter about working with Q, founder of Worldstar Hip-Hop, to build her brand (or whatever) since getting out of the bing but then things went south. Kat Stacks started doing interviews and tweeting that she and Q were beefing and that she was no longer working with him because he’s basically a pimp who takes advantage of young attention w#####.

That didn’t last long. In typical Kat Stacks fashion she’s now claiming that everything she said was for publicity and because she was mad at Q. And…she got the Q’s name plus the Worldstar logo tatted on her butt to show just how contrite she is. Check it:

Fails all around. It’s sad that she’s so gullible and sad that people are probably still taking advantage of her. Smh.

First Video Of Kanye West Proposing To Kim Kardashian Surfaces (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) On Monday (October 21st), Kanye West surprised the wife of his only child on her birthday with an elaborate proposal at San Francisco Giant’s AT&T Park. The first video footage of the proposal has finally surfaced courtesy of Huffington Post.

In the video you can see Kanye on his knees proposing to a taken aback Kim Kardashian. Also in the video is both Kim and Kanye enjoying his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy song “All Of The Lights” blare out of the stadium’s sound system.

Joseline was initially the side chick but now she’s actually the wife so I’m not sure why she’s holding on the side chick comparison. Furthermore, why is she so thirsty about low key antagonizing Mimi anyway?

Hip-Hip Rumors: Check Out Diddy’s Next Historic Goal!

Looks like Diddy is back with a vengeance. From a money point of view, he and Jay are at the top of the food chain with Dr. Dre. But, Jay and Diddy are more hustlers than the good doc, I think. So, Jay owned some of the Nets and eventually sold it. So, what is Diddy ready to do? Looks like Diddy wants to be the first African American to own a majority stake in an NFL team.

The Bad Boy mogul told Bloomberg TV his reasoning.

“I love sports, but I’m more of a owner type of guy, so I have aspirations to become — which it will happen — I will become the first African-American majority owner. Not having a small stake but actually owning an NFL team. I think it’s time for that. A majority of players that are in the NFL are African-American, but there are no African-American owners. So that’s one of my dreams. When I get the calls, ‘Well, we need to do Bad Boy Sports,’ I’m like, ‘No, that’s not my lane,'” Diddy said. “I stay in my lane. This is the lane that I want to do. And I’m just me; I do my own thing.”

Interesting and I think he can do it. He just launched Revolt TV. I’m wondering what the financial backing on that is like. I don’t see him coming out of pocket from his estimated $580 million he’s worth.

Boy Sues NYPD For Arresting Him For Trying To Dress Like Juelz Santana

(AllHipHop News) “Swag” is very costly, especially when you factor in racial perceptions of wealth, stop-and-frisk mentalities and Juelz Santana. According to The New York Daily News cover story, 19 year old African American teen Trayon Christian was arrested by NYPD police officers after purchasing a $350 Ferragamo belt from Barney’s.

On the afternoon of the incident (April 29th), Christian told The New York Daily News that his paycheck from his work-study job at his school the New York City College of Technology had been deposited into his account. Christian later purchased the belt with his debit card with no complications.

Christian maintains that after purchasing the belt, police stopped the young man claiming that someone at Barney called the officers to report the debit card. Without much evidence other than alleged Barney’s accusations, the police officers arrested Christian and took him to the 19th Precinct, but not before the officers had their own interrogation:

The detectives were asking me, ‘How could you afford a belt like this? Where did you get this money from?’

According to the article, Christian had his eyes on the expensive belt for a while after seeing it on numerous celebrities, including one of his favorites, Juelz Santana.

Christian did not waste time with giving Barneys a taste of his mind:

I brought the belt back to Barneys a few days later and returned it. I got my money back, I’m not shopping there again. It’s cruel. It’s racist.

The NYPD has already denied one of Trayon’s claims, that he was detained for two hours. NYPD spokeswoman Kim Royster claimed “Mr. Christian was held in police custody for approximately 42 minutes and as soon as we determined that the card was authentic, he was immediately released.”

Christian is suing the NYPD and Barneys for unspecified damages.

WTF News: 14-Year-Old Accused of Killing His Math Teacher

Once again I ask, what the hell is going on with Gen Y?

A Massachusetts high school student was accused of killing his math teacher, whose body was found in the woods behind the school. The body of Colleen Ritzer, 24, of Andover, Mass. was found in a wooded area near Danvers High School early Wednesday, and the boy will be arraigned on a murder charge, according to authorities.

Via Huffington Post:

Police started investigating after Ritzer was reported missing late Tuesday night because she had not returned home from work and was not answering her cellphone. Investigators found blood in a second-floor school bathroom and soon located the victim, he said. He did not say how Ritzer died.

“She was a very, very respected, loved teacher,” Blodgett said, calling the killing a “terrible tragedy.”

The boy also was reported missing Tuesday after not coming home from school. He was spotted walking along a road in neighboring Topsfield at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

His name was not made public because of his age. He faces arraignment Wednesday in juvenile court, where proceedings are closed to the public.

Ritzer had a Twitter account where she gave homework assignments, encouraged students and described herself as a “math teacher often too excited about the topics I’m teaching.”

There is no reason to believe anyone else was involved and there is no public safety danger, Blodgett said.

Ritzer is the second teacher allegedly killed by a student in the U.S. this week. A Nevada middle school teacher was allegedly shot by a 12-year-old student on Monday.

Hip-Hip Rumors: 2 Chainz Sex Tape?

“I want to put out a sex tape in the next five to 10 years and reap all the benefits in case I spend my hard-earned rap money doing boneheaded activities.”

Ja Rule Preparing Cookbook on Microwave Recipes From His Prison Life (VIDEO)

Ja announced the as-of-yet untitled cookbook on Geoffrey Zakarian’s SiriusXM show, “Food Talk” and explained how the recipes will be mostly microwave-based.

Speaking with TMZ, Rule also spoke on the food in prison and his creative ways of making it bearable  which ultimately led to him creating this cookbook:

[The food inside] is not too good but you get packages and stuff like that. You can eat pretty good. You can eat decent enough. I ate everything. In jail, they’re pretty crafty. We made lasagna, we made cheesecakes, we had lots of things. I really didn’t eat prison food.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Kanye West’s Proposal Coming to Kardashian TV Soon

Kanye West went all out for his proposal to Kim Kardashian because he is over-the-top but it might also be because cameras were rolling for Keeping up With the Kardashians. Kanye hasn’t been on the show much because he isn’t a fan of putting his personal life out there and Kim claims she won’t be on the show as much next season (yeah right) but this engagement was probably one instance where we will see the whole event unfold on E!.

TMZ caught up with a member of the orchestra from that night, who says there were multiple cameras rolling for the event. Kanye is said to have final approval on whether it gets to air on the show or not but that Kris Jenner hand is strong. We’ll probably be seeing it plus extra footage next season.
