Hip-Hop Rumors: DJ UNK Robbed! Chris Brown Gets Madeup! 50 Cent Turns Nice,

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor

and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have

whispered in our ear. Read on.THE DAILY TWO SENSE

I don’t know how long I am going to be around. I’m just keeping it real. That’s all I’m going to say right now.

There are so many rumors about MJ that I don’t know where to start.

There are rumors about his voice. There are rumors that he didn’t know

that he was signing on to do 50 shows in the UK. They are saying Mike only wanted to do 10 shows. Wow. I don’t know if people even want all these Mike rumors….

Shout out to Diddy for reppin’ for Michael Jackson and talking about the media coverage of the King of Pop.

I know they want rumors about this next guy though.

WAS DRAKE ROBBED?

I am not sure, but I am hearing that Drake was robbed or somebody

attempted to rob him while at the BET Awards. If that’s the case, then

things are getting hectic for Drizzy. What they are saying is that the

rapper was out in LA for all of the rehearsing and stuff for the Awards

and somebody ran up on him. Now, my source was actually very protective

of Drake and refused to divulge and other info. They basically said

that both his back and leg are injured.

YUNG BERG BEAT UP?

There is another one of those rumors going around, but I don’t know

how true it is. I heard that Yung Berg may have had a situation out in Los Angeles that

ended up with him getting pounced on. It may have been nothing, because

he seemed to be in good spirits on twitter. I am sure he’s cool…

BUT…this next dude isn’t!

DJ UNK GETS ROBBED

If you know like I know, DJ Unk recently got robbed. If you know

anything about it, you need to help him out. Here are some of the

tweets he said.

STYLES P DISSES “NO H###”

Styles P has some issues with the use of the term “no h###,” but do

you think he’s going at some body else that really likes to use the

term “no h###.”

A REAL MAN SHOULDNT BE SAYING PAUSE AND NO H### AND NO RAINBOW ALL

DAY!! MAYBE if there was no tight jeans and bendinova behind doors!!

50 CENT: THE GOOD GUY

50 Cent is turning into a good guy of sorts. How? He is really

looking our of the hood. The latest rumor is that 50 is attempting to

get lil Prodigy out of jail sooner than later. According to recent

reports they are trying to work that magic to get P out of the pen by

at least December of this year.

50 Cent is gearing up for his big event in August and he’s rumored

to be bringing out Floyd Mayweather, Llamar Odom, Maino, Papoose,

D-Block, Ron Artest and a gang of others. 50 Cent has been clowning

Perez Hilton pretty heavy.

I TOLD YOU!

CHRIS BROWN READY TO COMEBACK!

It would seem that Virginia has something

to prove. Timbaland and Chris Breezy are working together on the

comeback for CB. I don’t have much more to say other than people

telling me that both are looking to make a comeback of sorts.

Oh and the reason why Chris Brown didn’t perform, according to a new

rumor, is because of Jay-Z. Well, I know I said that yesterday, but I

am saying it again. According to one of Chris’s dancers, Jay-Z

threatened to boycott the show and not perform if they had Chris Brown

performing. They said everything was 100% set to go too. In the context

of MiJac, CB was more important to the night. On the flip side, he’s

also an admitted beat of women and it’s just too soon to look past that.

The final word on this rumor really seems to be that Covergirl, the

show’s most involved sponsor was about to withdraw their support if

Breezy was involved. As you know, Rihanna is a spokes person.

Where was Usher!? Paris.

FROM THE NANNY…

What I don’t fully understand is why didn’t these people do

something to stop the death of Michael Jackson? In hindsight, it is

very clear that MJ had his issues but nobody seemed to do anything!

They say the good die young. I guess so.

The Nanny of MJ had stepped up and she’s basically saying the dude

was on drugs a lot and that she had to pump his stomach. Check it.

“I had to pump his stomach many times. He always

mixed so much of it. There was one period that it was so bad that I

didn’t let the children see him … He always ate too little and mixed

too much.”

People are just coming out…but they didn’t help.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

The Game was reportedly out and about filming some MJ dedications.

RIP to Billy Mays.

A new remix of Drake’s “Best I Ever Had” has people thinking Mase is back. Why? Mase is on the song. Lol!

What happened to Kid Cudi. No disrespect, but it seems like he may be getting his wish of retirement, but not on his terms.

On the flip side, Kid Cudi attended the awards with his mother and

she was the nicest lady on Earth. Good. Cudi is supposed to drop in

August.

Rumor has it, BET was a little annoyed that Jamie Foxx didn’t want to practice the.  Supposedly, most of the show and his jokes were ad libbed.

BET had to almost completely throw away the show they had planned because of Michael.

Tevin Campbell’s performance was not planned before the death of the King.  It came together after the Michael death.

I heard the Jackson family is readily available in the Los Angeles area. Several people I know have seen them in at places like Starbucks. I will say this is minus any of the sisters.

My sources are telling me that Janet is devastated over the death of

Michael but got the sense that the word “devastation” didn’t

necessarily apply to other key members of the family.

Also, some sources are saying some buzz word stuff about “concert

insurance fraud,” but I personally don’t know what that means. Also.

They are very upset at the doctor that was paid to take care of

Michael. It is rumored that he “passed” Michael to do the tour, but

realty didn’t put him under the proper tests to make sure he was

actually ready.

People are saying that MJ was straight up assassinated. I wonder…I wonder. Theories are all over the place.

LOL! Somebody posted on my Facebook that I met my true love Devi

Dev. Not true, but meeting her would be a delight to my soul. LMAO!

DEDICATION TO MJ

This starts off very slow, but gets more and more incredible as it goes along. Shout out to Dwele.

HERE IS ANOTHER VIEW OF THE BET AWARDS

I have seen a lot of negative comments about the BET Awards, but here’s another view.

I watched the BET awards and I was listening to Jamie Foxx introduce

Beyonce like she was going to do something big.She comes out and sings

a basically religous song and she is half naked what is the point of

that. Then she wins an award and people are giving her a standing O.I

was like you give the Ojays a standing O.All on the red carpet they

asked people who they would like to see perform and they were trying to

force people to say Beyonce. It is like they are trying to force her on

people. There are alot of good artist out there who deserves

attention. Is it me or is the D.O.A thing is out of hand.I would like to

think that music heads can think for themselves. If someone likes a song

with the autotune then that`s cool but if not that`s fine but don`t

stop liking because Jay is telling you to stop liking it.And di anyone

see Puffy`s face while Jay was performing he didn`t look happy. And why

was Dawn sitting next to Diddy I thought that was Q woman? One more

thing BET did a good Job under the time frame.

STEVIE WONDER CELEBRATES MICHAEL JACKSON

I got this letter in from a reader who saw Stevie and John Legend

in concert. And if you say “Stevie who,” I’m slapping you up!

Just got back from the Stevie Wonder/John Legend concert here in Milwaukee.  I

have to say this was by far the greatest concert I’ve ever

attended…John Legend did his thing to warm up the crowd; Stevie by

far shut it down!!!  He started off the night

addressing all those who continue to speak ill of Michael Jackson and

urged the crowd to focus on the positive of one’s life and ignore all

the b#######. (His words!!!) Stevie didn’t waste anytime doing what he

does best; except this time around, he managed to have MJ tracks played

in between his songs to celebrate MJ’s life.  The crowd went crazy!  Stevie even let his real emotions show and broke out crying at one point…definitely moving!  The

crowd sang along to every word and danced to each song, I’ve never

heard Stevie sound so good…i guess he felt as if MJ were watching

over him.  Stevie did a SICK mix from Superstition to We Are The World, definitely was not expected but more than appreciated.  Ended up closing the night with a nice MJ mix, a fitting tribute from a fellow legend in the game.  Definitely blessed by the experience.

Drake Signs With Young Money

Rapper Drake has officially signed with Young Money, the label founded by rapper Lil Wayne, according to anonymous sources. Drake, a native of Canada, has been affiliated with Lil Wayne since he emerged on the scene and has released a pair of mixtapes that have been heavily downloaded. “Today is a definitely a comfortable day for me, having my team now that’s been in place for a couple of years. It’s just a great day,” Drake told MTV News. “It’s something new, but it feels familiar.”According to MTV, the signing is a joint venture between Young Money and Cash Money Records and that his upcoming project Thank Me Later,  would be distributed by Universal Republic.

According to the report, Drake officially remains a Young Money artist. “Independent is a funny term. I can go independent, but you need distribution, period. You need somebody to distribute your record and you need that army that a label has to really push the record,” Drake said.Drake had previously indicated that he would be making an announcement soon.Drake performed last night at the BET Awards with Lil Wayne, Baby and Young Money.

Rockin’ At Rock The Bells (Review)

Saturday June 27th, 2009, Midwest Bank Amphitheater, Chicago, IL.—let the bells ring. At Rock The Bells, it is tradition for the lineup to come with nothing but sickness. For the last 6 years, the organizers have been emphatic about providing a roster that not only reflects Hip-Hop leadership of today, but one prepared to go back 10 years, go back 20 years, even go back 30 years, if need be. They understand that younger fans might be fiending for some Talib Kweli or Slaughterhouse, but the old heads in the house grew up on EPMD and Pete Rock, and don’t consider them irrelevant in any way.For this reason, Rock The Bells maintains one of the most dedicated, loyal, and diverse fanbase in Hip-Hop concert history. As I watched, from my bird’s eye view—lawn seats (good lookin’ out Mitch Schneider Organization!)—act after act bum-rush the stage, it became increasingly clear why Rock The Bells is one of the most acclaimed concert series in the world. Any fan who got bored at the show only had him/herself to blame. There were two stages, as there are at events like this, featuring equally competent mic-rippers on both ends. Those at the smaller stage might have initially felt left out—but not for long. When KRS-One and Buckshot descended on the crowd, performing songs off their upcoming album, Survival Skills, the message was plainly delivered: “Errbody wanna rap/ Everybody wanna sing/ Errbody do they thing/ Like a muthaf**king robot/!” They couldn’t complain any longer because having M.O.P. leave the stage smoking immediately pacified all concerns. The legendary New York group performed classic hits ranging from “Cold As Ice” to “Ante Up,” as well as some exclusive tracks from their soon-to-be released comeback album, The Foundation. M.O.P.’s fans were glad to have them back, especially after the long hiatus from U.S. touring—a decision which, ostensibly, as accounted from the mouth of their DJ, occurred because they were “protesting George Bush.”Soon after, Slaughterhouse, the much-talked-about Hip-Hop boy band / “Supergroup,” consisting of Royce da 5’9,” Crooked I, Joe Budden, and Joell Ortiz established themselves as a force to reckon with, unleashing an “Onslaught.” The pure chemistry—though semi-hostile at times (word up, Joe!)—the group had on stage really gives up the secret that they are the next big thing—if a few preconditions can be registered. One gets the idea that Slaughterhouse will open up unfound avenues for themselves, if Joe Budden’s ego is kept in check. I hate to reiterate what has already been abundantly stated, but if the group has a diva, it is Joe. He is clearly the wild card—a personality that can turn off just as many people as it turns on. Before Slaughterhouse closed their set, M.O.P. reappeared on stage to perform the new collaboration single, “Woodstock.”“The Chef,” Raekwon, trailed shortly after, catering to the demands of fans who have awaited, almost hopelessly, the release of his highly anticipated sequel, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II. Raekwon credited the long delays, largely the result of label politics, to his refusal to “suck d**k.” At this, Raekwon delved into the ever appropriate “Ice Cream,” a single from his 1995 debut, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx. Raekwon surfed through crowd favorites from his classic debut, but also dropped some exclusive bombs off the new album, including “New Wu.” As usual, the W signs went up immediately.Raekwon’s set was more a foundation for the closing act of the smaller stage—his fellow Wu, The GZA. GZA’s presence commanded a level of respect very few MCs are capable of. With fans rhyming to his every word, and conforming to his every demand, Raekwon returned on stage to celebrate The GZA as Wu-Tang’s true “leader.” “Before Raekwon became Raekwon, I was a fan of this ni**a,” he said. The GZA’s set wrapped up around 8PM, leaving those at that stage scrambling to the main stage, where The Roots had taken center stage. But before The Roots, Chali 2na, K’Naan, Reflection Eternal, and Tech N9ne had come. K’Naan’s soul-stirring performance dripped of perfection—a must, after his unusually long (to say the least) sound-check. The Somali-born MC has, within the last 3 years, surfaced as a leading force on the international scene. If K’Naan keeps up this level of tenacity, I can only imagine how great an icon he is sure to become.Reflection Eternal, whose follow-up to their 2000 debut is scheduled for a release later this year, did what they do best—entertain while educating. Talib Kweli is no joke on the mic. Everybody knows that. And DJ Hi-Tek is an ingenious producer. Very few feel differently. Kweli had a hard time, though, adjusting to the sound technician’s incompetence; but all complications immediately vanished when “The Blast” ricocheted through the building.Busta Rhymes, coming right before the final acts, took the crowd energy to unreached heights. As part of the last of a dying breed of performers, Busta felt it fit, as many had through the day, to pay homage to the late Motown legendary performer—Michael Jackson. “I dedicate this show to Michael Jackson,” he said.In the course of the day, others had, in their unique ways, touched on Jackson’s illimitable legacy. Raekwon attempted to sing a Jackson classic. That didn’t go too well. Others, like Tech N9ne, performed dance routines. Some broke up their set to explain their love and admiration for Michael Jackson, while others remixed songs to include lines dedicated to the Pop King. Talib Kweli dropped a double line memorializing both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett. Regardless of what media was used to remember him, however, the messages sent were identical—his impact on Hip-Hop was, as Raekwon noted, “big.” Busta Rhymes had just wrapped up his set, and the night was still young. It was a little after 10:00 PM, when headliner Damian Marley came running out from under the stage, preceded only by a Jamaican flag which swayed left and right as the renowned singer poured out his soul on stage, ready for some “Confrontation.” Damian Marley is a rare breed, gifted enough to turn a Hip-Hop concert into a spiritual awakening. Marley performed songs from his acclaimed past releases, even riffing on some of his iconic Father’s classics, like “War” and “No More Trouble.” The implications of his song selections are evident at this point. He has just begun leading the crowd in a chant of “We don’t need no more trouble/ We don’t need no more trouble/ We don’t need no more trouble/ We don’t need no more trouble/.”Marley’s 2005 album, “Welcome to Jamrock,” was greatly drawn upon, enlisting “Beautiful,” “Move!” “Welcome to Jamrock,” and “There for You”—a personal favorite—to do the job. Damian Marley had a huge task ahead of him. After all, his set was only followed by Queensbridge legend Nas’—co-headliner.Nas, draped in all-white, storms out, ready for combat with his distant relative. Nas ran through many classics, including “NY State of Mind,” “Made You Look,” “One Mic,” and “If I Ruled The World,” but did not touch any from his latest, Untitled. The highlight of his set seemed to be when “Hip-Hop Is Dead” found its way through the speakers’ tunnel. The crowd, already pumped, rhymed every word of Nas’ 2006 single, agreeing that “[to] every Radio station—murder!” Nas went further: “You know what, I hate the Radio. … F**k the Radio.” I concur. As the night grew older, a discovery was made—Damian Marley and Nas are a perfect match. Middle of his set, Nas performed his classic Illmatic single, “One Love,” with Damian Marley morphing it, halfway, into Bob Marley’s classic hit bearing the same name. Nas and Damian Marley seemed to be having way too much fun, even going overboard on the time limit. It was time to go, but Nas felt differently. He began protesting: “We gotta do this new sh**. It’s the only reason [why] we got together.” Nas wants to perform “Africa Must Wake Up,” a call to consciousness to the Motherland. It is a song featured on their highly anticipated collaboration project, Distant Relatives, set for release later this year. He gets his wish. The duo rides the high altitude of concentrated fans into the climax of an eventful day. Many had come, blessed the mic, ripped the stage, paid tribute, and disappeared. But the last men standing were Nas and Damian Marley, fit for their role as watchmen of Hip-Hop and Reggae music. Their alliance is anything but unholy. Their coming together is not by accident. It remains to be seen what direction these power duo hope to take music in. Till that happens, I’ll be waiting patiently, silently watching, and counting my blessings while I’m at it. If there was any ringing disappointment at the June 27th show, and I suppose at every other to come this year, it is that not one single female MC or performer was featured. I’m not sure the Guerilla Union executives have ever heard of Invincible, Jean Grae, or Tiye Phoenix, but they better recognize. Female MCs—in the lineage of Roxanne Shanté (Ph.D.), MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill—are no anomaly in the Hip-Hop community. It is a cultural disgrace when, in 2009, a great lineup featuring the best and brightest Hip-Hop has to offer remains riddled with the sort of gender bias and discrimination that, for decades now, has threatened to cripple Hip-Hop’s moral pillars. Female MCs work the hardest, do the most, and have the least to show for it. Sound familiar? It would be great to see a conscientious drive put into righting this wrong next year. That said, Rock The Bells is still the festival to be at; if not for the music, for the $6 lemonades.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Did Jay-Z Stop Chris Brown’s BET/MJ Tribute?

DISCLAIMER:

All content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.

THE DAILY TWO SENSE

I saw the BET Awards like everybody else. I just want to say one thing. I love Hip-Hop and all that, but the rap acts they choose (Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, Drake and the rest of them) seemed totally out of place in the midst of an awards show dedicated to the late MJ. Also, I could have done without the p###-steez during the Lil Wayne part. MJ influenced everybody, so I would have wanted to see them doing the same sort of dedications to MJ as people like Jamie Foxx and Keri Hilson. Anyway, that’s all I have to say. What did you think of Jay-Z performance? I thought he of all people could have done something for Mike considering he’s the memorizing raps king. LOL.

DID JAY-Z STOP CHRIS BROWN?

Over the weekend, there was a huge rumor that Chris Brown was going to perform in a dedication to Michael Jackson. Well, that rumor was supposedly a reality until the last minute. I was told that, because if Jay-Z’s huge relationship with Rihanna, he wouldn’t permit the young domestic abuser in the place to be – even for MJ. Now, I don’t know if Jay-Z truly has that sort of power over BET. Another theory seems a lil’ more realistic. BET just didn’t want the controversy of Chris Brown, who just plead out to felony assault, to be the hallmark of their event. Don’t you love how I just used the word “hallmark?” That was good. Anyway…time will tell, but I think Chris Brown would have pushed the Awards Show well over the top. See, it was my understanding there were

OUT OF THE MOUTH’S OF SOURCES:

I didn’t make this up, but a source of mine that worked the red carpet decided to pass this along. There are some grammatical errors, but you get the idea.

Ciara has had a bad experience being on the red carpet when Beyonce showed up and they rushed Ciara off because of the real Queen B.  Paparazzi immediately stopped taking pictures of Ciara and got Beyonce (last year) so this year she specifically requested to come after Beyonce. (she then got mad at her publicist saying that her [beyonces] dress was better)

Timbo showed up with the whole family wife two kids and bodyguard but came late and had a hard time getting in.  they hadnt saved his tickets.  they had to get the head people from BET down there to get him in.

Jazze Phe walked on the red carpet and a bunch of paparazzi kept shouting RICK ROSS.

Taji Henderson’s dress was so amazingly backless that you saw the tip of her butt line (a##crack) and her sexy full angel wing tattoo thats encompassing her backside and lower back.

Soulja Boy would not let his partner Arab be on screen camera interviews and made him stand behind him or off the red carpet.

Rick Ross and Timbaland have a song coming soon.  Rick Ross asked Timbo why he gave “that beat” to 50.  Apparently that beat was better than the one he got.

Rick Ross did not stay for the awards.

Wale was upset that Paparazzi did not want to take his picture and media did not want to interview him.  He said F*** the cameras the world dont know yet.

Raheem Devaughn held up his boy Picasso (dc artist/paint) painting in his photos showing a lot of support.

Wyclef is the coolest dude.  came and talked to me about the situation in Iran for like 20minutes even though his publicist was yelling at him to go.

Alicia Keys looked AMAZING.

Paul Wall came with his wife the chinese guy with the teeth and Chamillionare.  They are appearantly thinking of working on an album together.

3 6 Mafia came with only 2 members.  They said its JUST US now.

Ray J didnt bring any girls but left with 2.

the OJs came in a white hummer that got towed while they were on stage.

Jaime Foxx was backstage cracking up on Cornelius while he was on stage.  Killed him backstage.  They had to make sure he wouldnt say anything to the crowd during the break.

Ving Rhames’ stage performance was definitely not planned and the BET execs were very upset about what he said and at Tyrese for telling him to come out.

Jay Z and Beyonce did not stay at the same hotel.

Baby (cash money) messed up his que during his performance.

Chakka Khan kept saying she was going to have heat stroke (it was hot) but she looked serious.

Omarosa would not LEAVE the red carpet and kept jumping in pictures with other celebs.  We had to usher her off.  Her mother was with her and was extremely nice but ghetto.

Kanye was there with baldy Amber (gf) and kept telling her to show her “fat ass” to the photographers.  He definitely smacked it when they got off the runway.

KING.

ILLSEED QUICKIES

Surprisingly, there are very little rumors running around the BET Awards, but as you can see, there’s some eyewitnesses/

In the UK, Michael Jackson has moved into all the top slots on the chart, about 14 of the top 20.

Also they are reporting that the doctor for MJ, also the last person to see him before he died, was being paid by concert promoter for MJ’s tour. Hmmmm….

There are reportedly hundreds of unreleased MJ songs in a stash spot ready to be released.

JOE JACKSON SPEAKS ON MJ AND IT WAS STRANGE

JANET TALKS ABOUT HER BROTHER

This was sad. Janet is the best for delivering that message. I guess the only thing I can say is the ending was very somber.

Florida Man Arrested For 911 Calls To Meet Lil Wayne

A Florida man was arrested last week for calling 911 repeatedly, seeking a police escort to the residence of rapper Lil Wayne. Michael Kruse, 20, charged with making false emergency calls by the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office. According to thesmokinggun.com, Kruse called 911 on his cell phone, from his Ford Taurus repeatedly, asking for a police escort -by -helicopter – to take him to Miami so he could meet with Lil Wayne. An arriving officer probed Kruse, who admitted to calling 911 the previous day as well. In that incident, Kruse told 911 operators that he might need medical attention because he was under the influence of an unknown substance. When the arriving officer attempted to help, Kruse refused medical attention. The United States’ 911 system launched in 1968 and handles over 240 million calls annually, with 99% of the country covered with the service. Officials are looking to crack down on abuse of the 911 system. In some cities, up to 80% of the calls placed to 911 are non-emergency. In March, a woman was arrested for calling 911 three times, to complain that McDonalds was out of Chicken McNuggets, after she had paid for a ten piece meal. Last year, a San Francisco man was charged with calling 911 more than 27,000 times. Bother were charged with misuse of 911 charge and fined as well.

Victor Ortiz Upset in Entertaining Slugfest

Golden Boy Promotions took a huge gamble last night (June 27) putting their future star hopeful Victor Ortiz (24-2-1, 19 KOs) in with the hard-punching, experienced slugger Marcos Maidana (26-1, 25 KOs). The ambitious test resulted in one of the best fights of the year, but ultimately proved disastrous for Ortiz, as he was overwhelmed and TKO’d in the sixth round.Victor Ortiz paid homage to Michael Jackson with a medley of the King of Pop’s hits during his ring entrance. The young star was the emphatic crowd favorite at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, and looked to be on the verge of a highlight reel win after dropping Maidana in the first with a hard right.Maidana took the shot, and immediately rose to his feet to crack a reckless Ortiz with a huge counter right. Ortiz barreled to the canvas as if he had been shot in the face. Showing grit and perhaps a little too much machismo, the young prospect struggled to his feet on rubbery legs and commenced to wage war with Maidana. Both men traded bombs to the bell and received a standing ovation from the crowd.

In round two Maidana continued testing Ortiz’s chin with hard, looping right hands. Although Ortiz was the superior technician, the drama of the moment saw him abandoning his jab and better punching technique to brawl with Maidana on the inside. There, the Argentinean happily obliged and raked Ortiz with bruising hooks to the body and the occasional rabbit punch. But it was Ortiz who would prove a little better this round, countering with his own right that literally bounced Maidana off the canvas. Although clearly buzzed, the underdog was able to backpedal away and survive the round despite getting clipped again for another knockdown. The warfare continued in the third and fourth, with Maidana still having free reign with his right hand. Ortiz was gung-ho about ending the contest, and walked through the shots and landed several of his own stinging combinations to the head. Everyone was aware that Ortiz was ahead, but his insistence on going to war favored Maidana, who was only catching Ortiz because of the wild exchanges on the inside. This point was punctuated at the end of the fourth when Maidana again ripped a thudding right that elicited concerned “ohhs” from the crowd.

The key fifth round saw the fighters throw strategy out the door and commence trading hooks. Maidana proved to be sturdier, and Ortiz was visibly rattled when a right hook sliced open a gaping cut above his left eye. And before he could escape the round without further damage, Maidana strafed him with another right that grotesquely snapped his head. Ortiz never recovered, and Maidana pounced seconds into the sixth with a jarring straight right that made Ortiz visibly wince. He kept abusing Ortiz with the right until he finally collapsed along the ropes. With both eyes swelling and one cut, Ortiz shook his head at the referee, who seconds later on doctor’s orders stopped the contest.

In the post-fight interview, a humbled and dejected Ortiz explained honestly why he stopped, and even hinted at retirement. “I was hurt. I’m not going to go out on my back, I’m not laying down for no one. I’d rather stop while I’m ahead. That way I can speak well when I’m older,” Ortiz stated. “We’ll see what happens from here. I’m young but I don’t think I deserve to be getting beat up like this. I have a lot of thinking to do.” Already, the armchair critics on the net are labeling Ortiz a quitter and even more amazingly a p#### despite helping to deliver a Fight of the Year candidate. Make no mistake about it, this wasn’t a Roberto Duran “no mas,” frustration quit. It was a man having his will beat out of him. I will trust a fighter when he says he’s had enough.

Still, if he continues he’ll have to fight against the quitter stigma for some time.

Mayweather-Marquez On for September 19

Doctors have cleared Floyd Mayweather to return to the ring in the fall. The former pound for pound king has rescheduled his comeback fight against lightweight champ Juan Manuel Marquez for September 19. “I am relieved to be cleared to fight as I was already looking forward to getting back in the ring,” said Mayweather, who was forced to postpone the July 18 date due to a rib injury. “Trust me, September 19 is a great weekend for boxing, and all of my fans, of which there are many Mexicans too, can certainly hold on to their hats and sombreros when I get back in to the ring and show them what they have been missing these past 18 months. I will destroy Marquez and reclaim my rightful place as boxing’s pound-for-pound king all in one night.. Don’t miss it.” Marquez, who will be fighting during Mexican Independence Day weekend, remains focused on the biggest fight of his career. “I am happy that Mayweather has been cleared to fight and we can get down to business on September 19,” Marquez explained in a statement. “This weekend is not just an important weekend for boxing, but even more so for all of the Mexican and Mexican-American people I will be fighting for who will have a great reason to celebrate my win over Mayweather, which will be for all of the people and for the entire country of Mexico that night. I am sure of victory and si se puede- yes we can and yes we will!” Unfortunately, the fight will still be held on HBO PPV. If Mayweather has retained at least 65-70% of his skills, expect him to win this fight by late stoppage.

Shane Mosley in Limbo

While Mayweather, Pacquiao, and Cotto go about setting up blockbuster matches, welterweight champion Shane Mosley finds himself the odd man out.. You would think after destroying Antonio Margarito, Mosley’s profile would be high enough to earn a megafight to close out the year. Unfortunately, it appears that Mosley offers too little return for the risk despite holding the 147 lb. title. Because of Mayweather’s injury, he will look to face the Pacquiao-Cotto winner early next year if he gets past Juan Manuel Marquez. Mosley has stated at 37 years old he only wants megafights, and is through fighting “contenders” or what he deems are high risk-low rewards fights like Andre Berto and Paul Williams. With that said, Sugar Shane really doesn’t have much choice. At this point his two options are to either sit on the shelf and not fight until next year, or keep his name viable with a fight to close out 2009. At press time, it looks like Shane is sticking to his guns and will actually sit out the rest of the year. With a divorce looming, maybe the next few weeks/months will bring a change of heart.

Pacquiao-Cotto Negotiations Moving Along for November 14

Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto look to be close in finalizing negotiations for a November superfight. Initial fight plans began the night Cotto escaped with a controversial split decision win over Joshua Clottey. Pacquiao was ringside and expressed to mutual promoter Bob Arum that he could defeat the Puerto Rican star and wanted the fight. Last week, Arum confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the fight would be in Las Vegas, and Pacquiao would get the lion’s share of the purse. The disputed weight stipulation has yet to be finalized. Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach wanted 142 pounds. At press time, it appears both parties will settle at 145. “When we fought Oscar at 147 he was not the world champion. Cotto’s a world champion at 147 so he will definitely be our toughest fight to date,” Roach told the Philippine Daily Inquirer. “Shane lost to Cotto so who’s the better fighter? Style-wise Shane’s a little bit faster than Cotto. But either guy is fine.”Cotto has been dismissive in his opinion of Pacquiao, arguing the Filipino phenom is being overrated courtesy of his wins over Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.“It’s no concern of mine whether it is 145 pounds or not. That is the usual weight that we cut down to for the weigh in, and in the ring—on fight night—I will go up 8 to 10 pounds, so actually during the fight I will weigh around 155,” Cotto explained to Puerto Rican paper El Nuevo Dia. “I’m not impressed at all by him and his so-called speed and power; he has two arms and a head, and so do I. Opportunity’s in life arrive when they arrive, we deal with them when they get here.” Expect an explosive night if this fight comes off.

Arthur Abraham Scores TKO Win

This past Saturday (June 27) on Showtime, middleweight titlist Arthur Abraham grinded down former sparring partner Mahir Oral to a stoppage win. After falling behind early due to low punch output, Abraham preceded to walk down Oral behind his trademark high guard and break him with hooks to the body and head. With the win, Abraham improves his undefeated record to 30-0, 24 KOs, and further puts pressure on Kelly Pavlik and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum to make a much needed unification match. My money’s on “King Arthur” if that fight comes off.

Throwback Fight of the Week: Marvin Hagler vs. Alan Minter (September 27, 1980)

It was a long time coming for Marvin Hagler. In 1980, before he was universally considered marvelous, the fearsome middleweight contender was seeking to win his first title. In 1979, he had a highly disputed draw in his first attempt against Vito Antuofermo. Already having a chip on his shoulder for his second try, champion Alan Minter exacerbated Hagler’s anger with the comment that “no black man would ever take his title.”Those famous last words proved to the catalyst for Hagler laying a heavy beating on Minter. Hagler’s great southpaw jab cut Minter’s left eye a minute into the first, and the challenger was able to rip left hooks from inside and outside.Minter fought gamely in the second and third, but Hagler proved too accurate, noticeably dishing out painful uppercuts and hooks on the inside. Two more cuts were opened up on Minter’s face and the referee opted to stop the fight and award Marvin Hagler the WBA and WBC middleweight titles. The fight was a milestone win for Hagler, but also became known for the disgraceful behavior of British fans, who threw beer cans and tried to attack Hagler before he could be officially crowned champion. Marvelous Marvin Hagler went on to become arguably the greatest middleweight of all time, making 12 defenses, winning 11 by knockout. Among his victims were legends Roberto Duran and Tommy Hearns. He would retire in 1987 after losing a controversial showdown with Sugar Ray Leonard and failing to secure a rematch. His final record stands at 62-3-2, 52 KOs. Alan Minter would only fight three more times after losing the title, going 1-2. He retired in 1981 with a record of 39-9, 30 KOs. Today, he and Hagler have made amends and become friends.

Coolio Pleads Guilty, Heading To Rehab

Last Friday (June 26) in Los Angeles, West Coast rapper Coolio pleaded guilty to cocaine possession.

The verdict stems from the rapper’s arrest on March 6 at Los Angeles International Airport.

Coolio was attempting to board a flight when authorities found the illegal drug in his luggage.

At the time of his apprehension, Coolio was also slapped with a resisting arrest charge for tussling with officers.

Under the terms of his plea deal, Coolio (Artis Leon Ivey, Jr) will report to an 18-month drug rehabilitation program.

Successful completion of this program will prevent the Grammy winner from serving a maximum three year jail sentence.

In addition, Coolio’s other charges of battery and possession of a smoking device have been dropped. The rapper has completed 7 albums in his 15 year career.

Of those LPs, 3 have been certified by the RIAA: It Takes a Thief (Platinum), Gangsta’s Paradise (2X Platinum), and My Soul (Gold).

His latest album, Steal Hear, was released last October.

Coolio’s most recent work was an early 2009 stint on the UK’s “Celebrity Big Brother” reality series.

Monday Fashion Feature: Michael Jackson: The Fashion Icon

Beyond his incredible force as an entertainer and philanthropist, Michael Jackson is one of the most crucial fashion icons of our time. Countless celebrities and fashion designers have replicated Jackson’s distinct looks. Many people in general, fans or not, probably don’t even realize that they own pieces that were inspired by the legendary star.As his ex-wife Lisa Marie Pressley wrote on her myspace.com blog, "mediocrity was not a concept that would even for a second enter Michael Jackson’s being or actions".Michael Jackson/VogueClad in glitter and often outrageous silhouettes, her statement proved more than accurate when it came to Michael’s wardrobe. He never failed to appear larger than life in performances, music videos, and red carpets.Chris Brown, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Usher are just a few notable celebrity fans of his personal style today, with hair cuts, clothing, dance moves and more inspired by the star. From the days of Jackson Five until the 80s and 90s, Michael’s original swagger was on a level that we may never see again in our time. When he first broke out on the scene with his brothers, he rocked a huge afro and bell bottom pants – the epitome a 70s child. Later on in the 80s, he introduced multiple trends that have been constantly regurgitated and updated until present day. Take the red leather jacket he wore in the "Thriller" video, which has been re-created by designer Margiela at approximately $600 retail. Pharrell in Margiela’s jacketIn the 90s, his style was evidently inspired by the military, although he gave it his own shimmery twist of course. The marching band jackets he donned are now making a huge comeback with the help of designer Balmain. You can spot them on the backs of Rihanna, Beyoncé and more.Speaking of Balmain, Michael was recently spotted rocking a crystal-encrusted top by the designer. Although it is a fall 2009 piece, there is nothing new about seeing him in something like this; Michael stayed true to his eccentric style, and it obviously didn’t phase him that this top was designed for women. We never saw Michael jump on anyone else’s style wagon. He wore one of his signature marching band jackets as recent as last year, at his friend Christian Audigier‘s 50th birthday. There is a reason Michael Jackson’s death shut down Twitter and slowed down the entire internet last week…Most can agree that there has never been a single person who stirred up so much passion across the globe with music, fashion and good deeds.   Just a handful of images to illustrate Michael Jackson’s impact on artists of today:  RihannaWilly Wonka   Chris Brown Usher

Michael Jackson, O’Jays Honored at BET Awards, Janet Jackson Makes Appearance

Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson was in attendance, stating that despite his immense grieving it was important to witness and celebrate his son’s achievements.

The original New Edition lineup kicked off the show with a medley of Jackson 5 hits, including “I Want You Back” and “The Love You Save.”

Host Jamie Foxx presented through the night in various MJ outfits from signature videos, such as “Beat It.”

Foxx even completed the famous “Smooth Criminal” lean before kicking off the show.

The multi-talented entertainer also took time to address the importance of Michael Jackson being honored first in the African-American community.

“No need to be sad. We want to celebrate this black man,” Foxx stated to the crowd. “He belongs to us, [and] we shared him with everyone. Down in New Orleans, when someone dies it becomes a celebration.”

Lil Wayne reiterated that point after receiving the award for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist.

“None of us would be here without Mike,” he stated. Best Male R&B Artist winner NeYo delivered an exceptional musical tribute in his rendering of “Lady In My Life.”

The talented crooner and songwriter was able to effortlessly replicate Jackson’s notable falsetto for one of the night’s highlight performances.

Later, the singer took the crowd down memory lane by brining out three of the most popular New Jack Swing acts of the late 80s and early 90s.

Keith Sweat kicked things off with his Top 5 Billboard single “I Want Her.”

Second was New Jack Swing pioneers Guy, who with keyboard guitar in tow delivered an inspired rendition of “I Like.”

Closing the set with their marked Hip-Hop edge was Bell Biv DeVoe, who performed their biggest hit “Poison.”

NeYo joined in their dance routine, and handled the song’s memorable bridge to close out the set.

The night also had several humorous moments, with Oscar-nominee Taraji P. Henson, Ving Rhames, and Tyrese reprising their characters from Baby Boy.

Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence also delivered a faux trailer (“Stank Robbers”) for a Thelma and Louise-inspired movie with their 90s characters Wanda and Sheneneh.

Beyonce took home Best Female Artist and Video of the Year (“Single Ladies”), and showcased a dramatic offering of “Ave Maria.”

With stained glass props and a resplendent, see-through wedding dress, the superstar songstress interpolated lyrics from Sarah McLahlan’s “In the Arms of An Angel.”

In her acceptance speech, an emotional Beyonce dedicated her award to MJ, referring to the King of Pop as her “teacher” and “hero.”

The seminal O’Jays were also honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their 50 plus years in the music industry.

Younger acts Tevin Campbell (“Forever Mine”) and a surprisingly powerful singing trio of Tyrese, Trey Songz, and Johnny Gill had no issues handling the group’s classic material (“Backstabbers,” “Darling, Darling Baby,” and “Stairway to Heaven”).

The O’Jays later took the stage, but not before imparting some very important wisdom for all the younger acts in attendance.

“It’s great to have a hit record, but it’s more important to have a hit act,” they stated.

During their set, the veteran group blessed the audience with flawless dance steps and renditions of “Let Me Make Love to You,” “For the Love of Money,” and “Use ta Be My Girl.”

For their philanthropy work regarding disadvantaged children and outreach in Haiti, Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean received Humanitarian Awards.

“He (Michael Jackson) has truly inspired me to use music in a way that serves the world,” stated Keys.

A visibly shaken Janet Jackson made a surprise last-minute appearance to address the crowd and make an official statement for her family.

“My entire family wanted to be here tonight, but it was too painful,” explained Janet while fighting back tears. “To you, Michael is an icon. To us, he is family and will forever live in our hearts. We miss him so much. Thank you for all of your love and support.”

The night was closed with NeYo and Jamie Foxx performing a soulful offering of Michael Jackson’s “I’ll Be There.”

Additional performances throughout the night featured Soulja Boy (“Turn my Swag on”), Maxwell (“Pretty Wings”), Jay-Z (“Death of Autotune”), Keri Hilson (Turnin’ Me On”), Keyshia Cole/Monica (“Trust”), Drake (“Best I Ever Had,” “Every Girl”), and Mary Mary (“God In Me”).

Hip-Hop Rumors: BET Awards Rumors! Jackson Family Reunions! Who Got Dropped?

DISCLAIMER:

All

content within this section is pure rumor and generally have no factual

info outside of what the streets have whispered in our ear. Read on.THE DAILY TWO SENSE

I don’t really want to do rumors today, but I am really unable to sleep and I guess I have to do something. I am loving that people are realizing the greatness of Mike Jackson. There really could be 100 years of dedication and the music would still be classic.

Haters, back down. There’s just too many of us.

JACKSON FAMILY RUMORS – THE FAMILY IS UNITED!

I got a word from an eyewitness that the Jackson family is indeed in Los Angeles and they are preparing for the festivities at the BET Awards on Saturday. But, more importantly, my Cali eyes saw that the family was just out and enjoying a bite to eat. I heard some folks tried to get a picture of them, but mostly failed to do so. I think more than anything, people were being respectful.

BET AWARDS RUMORS!

The BET Awards show rehearsals are totally on and poppin, but I have to admit, there haven’t been a lot of rumors. Well, that’s all changing now. First off: one of the “twins” in Mary Mary had a little laryngitis and couldn’t sing during rehearsals. Monica showed up for rehearsals with Keyshia Cole to do something together and I heard somehow Key Key was late getting to the stage. She reportedly came with her boyfriend and her manager Manny. Rumor has it, there was quite an air of Diva around Key Key. Rumor has it, that Keyshia nearly fell and busted her tail during rehearsal. Monica did her thing.

Jamie Foxx was reportedly in high spirits and spoke joyfully about the life of MJ, and he’ll be doing a dedication with a singer and a rocker. I would say, but BET might kill me. I heard Lil Wayne missed the rehearsal. Bel Biv Devoe, Keith Sweat, and Guy? GROOVE ME! There are some other oldies and goodies, but I’m not going to reveal them all. Just gotta watch!

One thing that’s crazy is Jamie Foxx talked candidly about not knowing Halle was gonna kiss him during the Guy’s Choice Awards!

MICHAEL JACKSON GIVES BACK TO PAUL MCCARTNEY?

I got this off the internet and I thought it was a grand gesture by Michael Jackson. He and Paul McCartney were NOT cool after MJ jacked The Beatles catalogue. Check it:

U.K. newspaper the Daily Mirror quoted a Jackson insider as saying in January saying:

“Michael told his lawyers he was sad he no longer talks to Sir Paul and said he wanted to make things right.”

Jackson, who died today at 50 years of age, had been reportedly diagnosed with cancer and one can speculate that the strain put on his heart during workouts for his concerts next month in London ultimately led to the King of Pop’s demise. Jackson had sold 50% of his assets to Sony but held the other half which would be given back to McCartney if the rumors are proven to true.

Pretty damn good thing. MiJac cleaning up some bad karma.

ILLSEED’S QUICKIES

I heard The Game is presently working on a second dedication song to Michael Jackson.

Somebody claims that they saw Jay-Z, Beyonce and a lil’ boy that looked like he could be Jay’s son on a shopping spree.

I am hearing Tru Life is in a special housing area called protective custody. Hope he didn’t do it!

I heard the city of Boston is not happy with remarks Guru recently said about the city. Click here for the story.

I am hearing the Perez Hilton’s real address is in circulation on the internet. People are very sore over that Michael Jackson post. Don’t retweet his address!

I heard that 125th street in Harlem was a party supreme for all that wanted to celebrate Michael Jackson!

Shout out to Ivan from Phoenix!

I heard that one of the three people that was allegedly shot by Tru Life or his people was an area basketball coach that just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I heard there was blood everywhere, yo.

I heard Cheri Dennis has been dropped by Bad Boy Records.

I heard Universal picked up Drake.

CHRIS BROWN SPEAKS ON MJ

Rumors has it CB might try to make a comeback in the events surrounding Mike’s death.

Chris Brown Statement Regarding Michael Jackson’s Untimely Death

“Michael Jackson is the reason why I do music and why I am an entertainer. I am devastated by this great loss, and I will continue to be humbled and inspired by his legacy. My prayers are with his family. Michael will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. He’s the greatest… the best ever. No one will ever be better.”

Chris Brown bows down to the King.

CASHIS STILL ON SHADY

Cashis is still with Shady Records, but they are building their own brand called Bogish Brand Ent. That is just on the side, I heard. Also…the Go Gettaz is a group that they are just working with. Here is the statement released to AllHipHop.com from Cashis:

Over here its shady for life i aint going nowhere i made a promise to be here thru good and bad and thats what ima do. as far as my digital releases im definitely doin that to provide a way to supply the fans with more of my current material as well as establish producers and artists that i work closely with.So that way they can release projects under the Bogish Brand umbrella and begin to get compensated for their hard work” -227 Shady Capo

THIS IS MADNESS

Hurricane Chris did some crazy mess at the Louisiana Legislature and they were totally with it. I will give you two videos to look at, one that is long and one that is short.

Here is the one of H.C.’s performance:

And here is the full nine-minute video of madness.

DEDICATION!

Cilvaringz from Wu-Tang released his debut album with the Wu called ‘I’ in 2007 and he had a tribute to Michael Jackson on there. Peep it. I hope Mike heard it.

INSIDE THE HOSPITAL

My boy Thomas was right there and he gives a deep, detailed account of what happened the day Mike died.

My name is Thomas and im a big fan of allhiphop.com. Im currently taking the day off because i have mono and was at the UCLA medical center just 2 hours ago. I was getting some blood tests done today at 3:30pm on the 6th floor. About 40 minutes into my wait….4:10pm i saw that there was numerous celeberties running into the hospital, security everywhere. I saw camera after camera around the hospital. It was like the wait was postponed due to the influx of people. My nurse, Ester Willams told me that the king of pop died and that the hospital services would be frozen. This was due to the reason that the hospital was expecting thosands of people rushing the hospital in the next few hours. I got to see his Latoya Jackson crying and being escorted by 5 security gaurds along with dozens of cameras including TMZ. His mother whose name i dont know, was stopped in the middle in the hall just trying to get a hold of Janet Jackson on the phone. I saw chris tucker come in the hospital with a security gaurd covering his mouth like he saw a ghost. I feel horrible for the family, they seemed to just ignore the press, which i think shouldve been escorted out of the hospital. By this time there where at least 30 security gaurds gathered and i was asked to reschedule my appointment and vacate the premises. I hope the other people in the hospital will get care too. But my condolences to the jackson Family. RIP Michael Jackson….king of pop…hope this helps you out…

The Jackson 5 & Michael Jackson: An Audio Evolution

The impact of Michael Jackson on pop music cannot be overstated. Since the internet is being flooded with tributes and dedications, I figured that I would add my 2 cents in. These records capture each incarnation of Michael up until 1984, when he released his smash album Thriller, one of the best selling records of all-time.

I know that there are MANY records that I have left out and I realize there are many B-sides, album tracks, movie soundtracks, etc etc. As an avid record collector, I have come across tons of Jackson 5 singles, since they have sold hundreds of millions of them, so I decided to pluck out a few for your enjoyment. Mike was destined to be a Motown artist: The Jackson 5 were discovered by Gladys Knight and Bobby Taylor. The guys, as we know, hailed from Gary, Indiana. Before they were on Motown, they knocked around Gary honing their skills, first as Ripple & The Waves, then as Stars and Stripes featuring Michael, who was already a 7-year-old wiz. This is one of their first recordings, done prior to their associations with Motown. This is a double sided gem. The first side is called “You Don’t Have To Be 21 (To Fall In Love).

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

You can hear already that Joe Jackson had every intention on making sure his children sounded like adults, despite the fact that Michael cannot be any older than 9-years-old on this record. Flip it over and you get “Some Girls Want Me For Their Lover.”

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

What I like about this is you can hear this young man slick talking like he’s an adult. And it’s convincing. Even in this undiscovered gem, there is no denying that later groups like The Sylvers, Brighter Side of Darkness, New Edition, New Kids on The Block and countless others snagged their styles from the guys.

The Jackson 5 were introduced and subsequently signed to Motown after both Knight and Taylor witnessed them performing a rendition of “My Girl,” originally a hit for The Temptations, at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater, in 1967. In order to add some sizzle to their story, they concocted a story that Diana Ross found them, hence the title of their breakout album Diana Ross Presents: The Jackson 5, which was released in December of 1969. Taylor was repaid for his valuable discovery, as he produced most of the group’s debut album, which spawned the massive hit “I Want You Back.” Immediately the guys went to work, churning out records that would stand the test of time.

In 1970 the guys were in full swing. Here’s “Darling Dear,” one of my favorites out of the three albums The Jackson 5 released that year alone (Their version of Smokey’s “The Love I Saw In You Was Just A Mirage” is wicked too).

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

If fans thought all The Jackson 5 were going to be releasing was “Bubble Gum Soul” like “ABC” [as Berry Gordy attempted to label it], they were pleasantly surprised again, with this adult-themed track, “Maria (You Were The Only Love),” which featured vocals arrangement by Willie Hutch.

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

In 1971, the group was hitting its best stride in my opinion. This is when they dropped the Maybe Tomorrow album. Maybe Tomorrow is a great album, which contains the gut wrenching title track, which has put the author of this piece to his knees many times. It also contains the standout track “Never Can Say Goodbye.” In the year 1972, The Jackson 5 snuck this little B-Side in called “We’ve Got A Good Thing Going.”

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

That record could very well by my favorite of the lot, but who can really decide this things, when they were also releasing B-sides like “Love Song” as well. video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

You can hear Mike’s voice start to mature around this time period (1972-1974), when the group started to flounder a bit, due to Motown business. Also, both Michael and Jermaine started solo careers carefully crafted and executed by Motown. Around 1975, the group’s relationship with Motown was reaching the end, but the label was still releasing gem’s like this one, titled “Take Me Back.” from the album Forever Michael, which contains the scorching ballad “One Day In Your Life.”

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

In 1976, The Jackson 5 left Motown, which legally retained the name The Jackson 5. The guys became The Jacksons, dropped Jermaine, added Randy and teamed with Gamble & Huff. Here’s “Good Times,” one of the best songs Michael Jackson and the guys ever released.

TWO BONUSES: Motown continued to release records by Michael Jackson, even after he was gone. In 1984, when Michael hit big with Thriller, the label released this double sided doozy: “Farewell My Summer Love.” This is a great record that I listen to each “Farewell My Summer Love” as I reminisce about the summer loves that have come and gone in my life.

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsfree video player

Flip it over and you get “Call On Me,” which pulls my heart strings. I can only listen to this one at certain times, or the drunk dialing start and my Ex’s phone might start ringing. 😉
