(AllHipHop News) Prodigy is mostly known as one half of the rap duo Mobb Deep, but the New York born rapper has been diversifying his business options lately. In June Prodigy introduced a new clothing line called “Infamous,” and it was recently announced he has created a book publishing imprint of the same name.

Infamous Books is a partnership with indie press Akashic Books to publish urban and crime literature. The first release from Prodigy’s Infamous was his own 90-page novella H.N.I.C. The book, co-written by Steven Savile, tells the story of young man trying to escape a life of crime, but is pulled back in to do one final job.
“Most of [my music] comes from my real life. So writing a fictional book is different because I’m just able to use my imagination more and just create scenarios. I really don’t do that too much with the music,” Prodigy told Brooklyn Based.
While Prodigy has added author to his résumé (which began with 2011’s autobiography My Infamous Life) he still has not given up on the music side of his talents. He teamed with producer Alchemist to drop the Albert Einstein LP this past June.
Upcoming projects from Infamous Books will include works by Diary of a Mistress creator Miasha, Street Dreams writer K’wan Foye, and the New York Times Best Selling author JaQuavis Coleman.
H.N.I.C is available now at Amazon.
