Canadian Politician Takes Issue With Drake Over Toronto Raptors Loyalty

(AllHipHop News) Drake has always repped hard for his hometown of Toronto. The OVO founder is even the brand ambassador for the team’s NBA franchise the Raptors. None of that seemed to be enough for one local politician.

Toronto legislator Norm Kelly had a problem with Drake shaking the hand of Washington Wizards player Paul Pierce. A photo of Drizzy acknowledging Pierce during last week’s playoff game against the Raptors led Kelly to tweet his unease directly to Drake. He also gave a statement to TMZ.

“For Drake to have any recognition of Pierce, offended a huge number of fans,” said Kelly. “We have no problem shaking hands. Just wait to do it until after the series.”

The Toronto-Washington series is now over as the Wiz swept the Raptors in four games. That did not stop Kelly from taking more shots at Drake. He returned to Twitter and posted a picture of the “6 God” rapper wearing a Wizards shirt.

Drake has been ridiculed throughout his career for being a “bandwagon” sports fan. The rap star has been seen supporting the Raptors, the Miami Heat, University of Kentucky basketball, Texas A&M football, Manchester United F.C., Chelsea F.C., Toronto FC, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Cleveland Indians.

“If [Drake] really has his ear attuned to the people of Toronto, we won’t see a repeat of that behavior again,” Kelly stated.

Meanwhile, Pierce had this to add on Twitter:
