French Montana Explains Spending $300,000 Of His Own Money For The Sample On “Unforgettable” (VIDEO)

THE EPIC/BAD BOY ARTIST PUT UP ANOTHER $300K FOR THE MUSIC VIDEO

(AllHipHop News) “Unforgettable” is unquestionably the biggest hit of French Montana’s career.

The Jungle Rules cut is a Top 5, platinum single in America.

It is also an international smash with over 20 million weekly global streams on Spotify.

French’s success with the Swae Lee-assisted song is good news because he supposedly spent a lot of money to secure a sample for the track.

“I had to pay $300,000 out of my own pocket. Not the label. Out of my own pocket, I had to pay $300,000,” the Bad Boy/Epic artist revealed to The Breakfast Club. “Then [I] go to the label and the label’s like, ‘We can only give you half of that. We never heard about paying $300,000.’ That’s what you call believing in the record.”

French explained it cost another $300,000 to shoot the music video in Kampala, Uganda.

When questioned why he went into his own pocket for $600K, the New Yorker responded, “That’s what separates certain artists. I feel like if I waited – if I waited for anything in my life – I wouldn’t be French Montana. Sometimes, you just have to take matters into your own hands.”

According to French, Bad Boy Entertainment head Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs supported his decision to pay more than a quarter of a million dollars to secure the sample for “Unforgettable.”
