(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean recently came out on top in a lawsuit alleging that their Watch The Throne collaboration “Made in America,” was stolen.
Spin reports that New York musician Joel McDonald initially filed a lawsuit against the three musicians in 2014 accusing the trio of stealing his 2009 track of the same name.
The U.S. Second Court of Appeals found that the songs were not “similar in copyright-protected ways.”
Furthermore, the federal court “considered all of McDonald’s arguments and found them to be without merit.”
Additionally the latest ruling upholds a district court’s dismissal of the $3 million lawsuit in 2015.
The “Made in America,” trifecta were not the only targets of the suit, as Universal Music Group, Def Jam Music, Roc-A- Fella Records, and producer Mike Dean were also defendants in the allegations, amongst others.
