JT Reacts To Getting Called Out For Promoting Nicki Minaj More Than Her Own Music

The “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix)” rapper continues to fight off lapdog accusations.

Many supporters of Nicki Minaj, including City Girls member JT, expressed frustrations about this year’s Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy once again shut out Minaj from winning any trophies.

To add insult to injury, the Recording Academy’s X account accidentally tweeted that Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” won Best Rap Song. Killer Mike officially took home the honor for “Scientists & Engineers” featuring André 3000, Future and Eryn Allen Kane.

“I salute Nicki Minaj for not tapping out & still dropping music knowing it’s so many odds against her! It’s big money to end Nicki but it’s a BIGGER God! Keep being you! Your legacy will never be undone!!!! @NICKIMINAJ, I love you,” JT posted on Sunday (February 4) in response to the Grammys’ mistake.

JT has been an outspoken Nicki Minaj backer. Her alliance with the Queens-bred MC reportedly played a role in her fallout with Minaj’s longtime rival, Cardi B. That alleged proxy war led to Cardi’s fans constantly calling JT a “lapdog” for Nicki Minaj.

For example, one social media user called out JT for tweeting about the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper’s Grammy snub instead of talking up her own recently released “Sideways” single. The @ThottSummers account commented, “If only you promoted yourself this much.”

The Miami-raised rhymer responded, “Babe, all my tweets are about my music, my thumbs hurt from tweeting about it. I took a break to speak on what [matters] to me, I see what matters to you. ME.” As of press time, “Sideways” racked up 322,000 streams on Spotify in its first three days of release. It failed to make it onto Spotify’s Daily Top 200 Songs rankings in the United States.
