Luther "Uncle
Luke" Campbell is planning to retire from Hip-Hop to launch an adult magazine
and film company.
On the eve of the
release of his audio book, Uncle Luke: My Life and Freaky Times, Luke
has announced that the three-disc set will be his last release as a recording
artist.
"I am tired
of being in an industry that doesn’t appreciate me," Luke told AllHipHop.com.
"I have done so much for Hip-Hop and ’til this day, I haven’t received
any awards or any recognition for it. If it wasn’t for the 2 Live Crew videos
wouldn’t look like they do and rappers wouldn’t sound like they do."
Luke stated that
his decision was in part is due to his treatment, but also to his interest in
the adult film market.
"I am going
into the adult market because they don’t care what label you are signed to or
who you know," Luke said. "My company is going to cater to the upscale
urban market; it will [be] like Playboy, featuring our women and things we like
to see."
Uncle Luke –
My Life & Freaky Times contains two audio books from the rapper’s upcoming
book, written by Dara Cook, and an accompanying soundtrack which will feature
new recordings from Trick Daddy, Petey Pablo, Jacki-O, Pitbull, Dirtbag, Big
Tigger and others.
The audio book,
slated for release in April 2006, also includes a secret link to view clips
and purchase a DVD featuring celebrity romps through an undisclosed site.
