Lupe Fiasco Posts Self-Deprecating Review Of His “DROGAS Light” Album

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT LU’S LATEST BODY OF WORK?

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this year, Lupe Fiasco put on his critic hat and wrote a review of his friend Ab-Soul’s most recent body of work Do What Thou Wilt.

Lupe gave positive feedback for DWTW by calling the project an “example of a master at work and play.”

But what does the Chicago-raised rhymer think about his own new album?

Lu answered that question by presenting his own critique of DROGAS Light.

“His latest effort ‘DROGAS Light’ is somewhat of a mixed bag,” wrote the “Wild Child” performer.

He went on to say, “the majority of the album is from the vaults and only a few new pieces were actually put down to fill out the vision.”

According to Lupe, his goal was to keep things “light” with this collection, so he stayed away from anything “too jazzy” or “too lyrical or conceptually dense.”

In the end, DROGAS Light received a 7/10 rating from its creator.

Professional critics have not been as positive about the album.

The Metacritic rating for Lupe’s sixth studio LP currently sits at 53/100 (5.3/10).
