(AllHipHop News) Robert “Meek Mill” Williams could be on his way home. The AP is reporting that Philadelphia prosecutors are not against Meek being released from prison while he appeals his latest sentence.
Last November, Williams was sentenced to 2 to 4 years for a probation violation stemming from a 2008 gun and drug case. His legal team has been working to get the 30-year-old freed over a range of issues.
The most recent concern came when news broke that Meek’s arresting police officer, Reginald V. Graham, was on a District Attorney Office’s list of compromised cops and allegedly gave false testimony at the rapper’s ’08 trial. The city’s new prosecutors confirmed Graham was among the officers the previous administration kept from testifying in court because of questionable credibility.
Meek’s lawyers have also argued that Genece Brinkley, the preceding judge, is deeply biased against the defendant. Brinkley hired her own attorney in order to counteract those claims, and she will presently be the person to decide if the “Young Black America” rhymer is released.
Earlier this week, Meek Mill spoke from prison at the “REFORM: Bringing Injustice To Light” event hosted at the University of Pennsylvania. He expressed, “If God picked me to be the one to bring the light to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and to the world, I accept it and I’m gonna stand up to it.”
