Pitbull’s SLAM Academy Charter School Rejected By Atlanta School Board

THE GEORGIA CITY SAYS NO TO “MR. WORLDWIDE”

(AllHipHop News) South Florida rapper Armando “Pitbull” Pérez is sponsoring several tuition-free public college preparatory charter schools across the country.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Pitbull will not be able to open a SLAM in Atlanta.

The city’s school board voted to reject Sports Leadership and Management Academy’s application along with two other charter schools.

An over-reliance on an outside management company was listed as one of the reasons the Atlanta School Board turned down SLAM.

The school is expected to appeal the decision to the state of Georgia.

SLAM currently has locations in Miami, Florida and Henderson, Nevada.

“This is a dream come true. We can have endless number one records around the world, but it means nothing. To be able to perform in front of the world means nothing. It just gives us the avenue to be able to do these kind of things. This is priceless,” stated Pitbull at the Nevada campus groundbreaking ceremony in 2015.

In 2016, SLAM’s Miami high school and middle schools both received a C grade from Florida’s school accountability system.

Controversial Secretary of Education and school choice advocate Betsy DeVos joined Pitbull in visiting SLAM Miami in April.
