Usher’s New Look Foundation Hosts “United To Ignite” Youth Empowerment Luncheon

Usher Raymond IV recently celebrated the 16th anniversary of his non-profit organization The New Look Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia with the “United To Ignite” luncheon. Atlanta native rapper, and actor Ludacris hosted the gala once again. The President’s Circle Awards Luncheon was held at the St. Regis Atlanta hotel (in the upscale Buckhead neighborhood). Usher created the organization at the age of 20, with the backing of his mother.

Usher immediately took a moment to discuss the importance of education, empowerment and exposure.

“The biggest threat to the tsunami amongst us is close mindedness. Without exposure we know nothing. Without an education we know nothing. Education, resources, opportunity… when they all come together they can make you infinite. Nelson Mandela said, education is the most powerful weapon which you use to change the world.

Ludacris followed saying,

“It’s about uniting to ignite and supporting each other. We want to engage new individuals in this youth movement. It’s about getting all hands on deck.”

The luncheon celebrated community influencers that have inspired youth to pursue their passions while making a significant impact in their respective professional fields. The luncheon was also an opportunity for New Look supporters and community influencers to come together, enjoy live music performances by the students, mingle with community influencers, and recognize the award honorees whose efforts have transformed the lives of under served young people around the globe.

Each year, New Look honors individuals, organizations and corporations that are creatively empowering youth as leaders and change agents around the world. This year’s honorees included Ludacris (Ignitor Of Service), Lt. Casey Cagle (Ignitor of Education), Michele Lai (Ignitor of Global Youth Empowerment), and Elizabeth Williams (Ignitor Of Global Youth Leadership).

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed was also in attendance. Grammy award-winning superstar Usher told about 400+ attendees that he hopes to gain more of their support, and for corporate leaders to join forces with him to “create a spark” for young students. Usher encouraged those in attendance to carry the light out of the room and pass the torch to others for the youth education movement. Usher reminded the community leaders that they were blessed to be a blessing to someone else. The New Look choir and dance team closed out the luncheon with a performance of their own remix of the popular hit “Uptown Funk”. Check out more photos from the event below. Kanye West Mad At Sound Techs Over Auto Tune At Jeezy Concert?

Allegedly Kanye West wasn’t too happy with the sound techs at Jeezy’s TM 101 10th anniversary concert. Supposedly, they couldn’t get the auto tune features right….. and well Yeezy had to sing some less than flattering notes on “Put On”. Nonetheless given the line up, Kanye’s performance included, it was still an epic show. LOL. We hope Yeezy isn’t too mad.

Nicki Minaj: “A B*tch Ass N*gga Can’t Write My Raps” (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) While Drake fights off rumors he paid other rappers to write his verses, Nicki Minaj has reminded the world that she writes her own rhymes. Young Money’s First Lady told a concert crowd in Brooklyn no man could ever pen her words.

“A b*tch ass n*gga can’t write my raps. You know why? You don’t have the heart or the mind frame or the motherf*cking intellect b*tch n*gga,” said Nicki at The Pinkprint Tour stop. “You don’t even know how to pronounce these motherf*cking words in my motherf*cking raps b*tch.”

In the video of Nicki addressing her fans in Brooklyn, she does not mention any person by name. But her boyfriend Meek Mill used the BK show to voice more concerns about his rival Drake. The MMG performer commented on Drizzy’s response track “Charged Up.”

“That sh*t was very soft. Baby lotion soft. We ain’t gonna focus too much motherf*cking energy on that,” said Meek. “If you’re gonna be the motherf*cking greatest of this sh*t, just make sure you’re doing your motherf*cking pen game and keeping it all the way a motherf*cking hundred. Cause it’s levels to this sh*t.”

Minaj has been hit with her own ghostwriting allegations in the past. New Jersey rapper Ransom sparred with the “Feeling Myself” rapstress. That feud started after lyrics on one of Ransom’s songs left some people thinking he was confessing to being Nicki’s former ghostwriter.

Her ex-boyfriend Safaree also suggested he helped Minaj pen bars when they were together. Nicki has denied either man was ever her ghostwriter.

UPDATE:

Nicki Minaj joked about the Meek Mill/Drake rivalry on Twitter today. A fan asked her about Meek looking like he was in love in the couple’s latest music video for “All Eyes On You.” She responded by referring to a line from Drake’s “Charged Up.” Nicki wrote, “He’s star struck b*tch.”

Did Future Use Ciara Controversy To Sell Albums?

The media gave Future a ton of attention just to pull info about his relationship with Ciara. Did the controversy he kicked up in promotional interviews fuel the frenzy over his music? After all, he has his first No. 1 album with Dirty Sprite 2. Ciara’s camp seems to believe he purposely talked about Ciara in interviews to help sell his album. Allegedly, it was always part of the plan to paint her as the villain and take the heat off of him cheating. We wonder what the Future Hive thinks. Was Dirty Sprite 2 that good that it sold itself? Future still has that crazy fan base, so maybe his No. 1 album is merely a result of the fans showing up and supporting.

Phresco – “Summer Nights” (P### by MKSB)

Phresco upholds to the most genuine form of storytelling in his latest release, giving listeners a glimpse of his life prior to the start of his music career. “Summer Nights” exemplifies the Jersey persona as well as craftily filling in the gaps with personal, yet recognizable experiences. Phresco delivers fluid, laid back rhymes over a smooth, yet hard hitting track fashioned by California based producer Matt Shimamoto aka MKSB.

Typ-iLL – “Without Love”

Typ-iLL and longtime collaborator/producer, 5ickness, put on for their hometown of Long Island, N.Y. with a summery, uplifting new joint, “Without Love.” From the crackling needle drop to the fading vocal loop, the track is both an ode to Strong Island and a message to anyone doubting Typ’s passion and love for his art.

Throughout the first two verses, Typ paints a vivid lyrical picture of his stomping ground, over the hypnotizing beat, and it feels like you’re cruising the streets right beside him. That means hitting Willie’s Barber Shop for a new cut, and sippin’ rum until you’re carried out of the lobby of the nearby Marriott. Typ then flips from nostalgic to confident, for his closing verse that boasts tongue-twisting rhymes and middle-fingers to his detractors. When he caps it all off with “Grindin’ so f*ckin’ hard, it’s my turn to blow,” it’s hard to imagine anyone disagreeing with that statement.

“Without Love” is the final leak before we hear the lead single from Typ-iLL’s much anticipated debut album, Veterans Day, which is produced entirely by none other than Statik Selektah.

Lil’ Wayne Doesn’t Write Any Of His Own Raps?

Photo via Lil’ Wayne’s Instagram

Apparently Drake isn’t the only Young Money rapper who isn’t (allegedly) writing their own lyrics. Lil’ Twist took to his Twitter to say that Lil’ Wayne is the best rapper in the game, and he doesn’t write sh*t! We kind of knew Wayne didn’t write all of his songs, but we didn’t know he doesn’t write any of them. What are your thoughts? It still takes a skilled rapper to deliver them huh? Lol.

**Lil’ Wayne has been known to do as Jay Z does and Biggie did with the practice of not writing raps down but instead committing them to memory.

Meek Mill Feels Rappers Have To Do More Than Wear A Meek Mill T-Shirt To Support Him?

Photo via Meek Mill’s Instagram

People have been choosing sides in the Meek Mill vs. Drake “beef”. Some wanted to point out that Drake has been supportive of Meek Mill in the past. Brandon Jennings took to his Instagram to post a meme of Drake wearing a Meek Mill t-shirt with a caption that said,

“No matter how much love you show ppl; the one time you don’t, they’ll show their true feelings. #Salute”

He also was sure to say,

“This ain’t a diss. You just can’t show love to everybody.”

Meek Mill must’ve been tagged in the post because he was quick to respond saying,

“Cuz u wear a meek mill shirt that mean you can do what u want…. Yall n*ggas suck d*ck too much! Clown a** n*ggas!”

Go tweet Meek Mill’s album so he can stop acting up. LOL!
