EXCLUSIVE: Ice T Talks New Body Count Album, Killing White People In Music Video + MORE (VIDEO)

(AllHipHop News) Ice T has not released a body of music in eight years, but his rock/rap hybrid group Body Count is preparing to release their fifth album later this year. In an EXCLUSIVE interview with AllHipHop Ice T explains the concepts of the new album, why only white people were murdered in the band’s latest video “Talk Sh*t, Get Shot” and more.

Last month, Body Count and Ice T released the music video for their single “Talk Sh*t, Get Shot” and received large amount of criticism for the video being that only white people were shot. According to T, the race of the victims in the videos were purely the director’s vision and not his or the group’s:

The video director only brought white people for us to shoot. I didn’t direct that video. So the guy, Frank, he brought his friends. People were lining up to get killed. So we snatched the Black guy. But, I didn’t say ‘I want to shoot an Asian and a Mexican. That, people overintellectualized the music.

The group has a history of controversial music, none more culturally abrasive than 1992’s “Cop Killer”. According to T, the world that Body Count creates in their music is not always identical to reality:

Body Count is intentionally hyper-violent,  hyper-sexual Rock-N-Roll. I call it Grindhouse music. It’s like the movie Machete or something. It’s over the top. So, in the world of Body Count, I can reach through a phone and snatch somebody. The bloggers get shot..and the cops get killed. It doesn’t really happen in real life, but that’s a part of the artform.

EXCLUSIVE: Ice Cube Says He Is Willing To Do "Boyz N The Hood" Sequel

(AllHipHop News) At this point in time, Ice Cube’s legacy is half-music and half-acting with a few classics under his belt. During an EXCLUSIVE interview with AllHipHop’s Jake Crates, Cube explains his interest in doing a remake or sequel to the seminal film Boyz N The Hood.

In the 1991 film directed by John Singleton,  Cube played Darrin “Doughboy” Baker. According to Cube, his interest in doing a sequel is contingent on the quality of the script:

I would definitely consider it. If someone had a great script of a great idea to put it together, I would definitely be open to it. I think there is always room for those types of things, when they are done right.  You know… I think it’s an interesting concept, yea I’d be open to it.

Cube and Dr. Dre recently revealed the actors whom will depict them in the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. John Singleton is currently working on an upcoming, untitled Tupac biopic.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Pretty Boy Felon To Get Reality Show?

If you type in “felon” and “meek,” Meek Mill won’t even come up in Google. This other dude Jeremy Meeks is the one that comes up in the site rooted in analytics and whatever. Well, this dude Jeremy Meeks that has a bunch of names like “the pretty felon” and “handsome mugshot felon” and he’s now got his 15 minutes. But, the word on the street is that his 15 minutes may be extended if he can get out of jail. There is a rumor that Meeks may have a reality show on the way if he can get out of the bing and into a different reality. You probably already know, but his mugshot got a lot of people’s panties moist when it started to circulate virally. A local ABC affiliate in the San Joaquin County, California area, where Meeks is incarcerated said the dude is appreciative of the acclaim but tell the people “I’M INNOCENT!” He also re-affirmed that he’s married. What is the irony in that? All that cooch loving him in the world and he’s in jail with a bunch of sweaty men? YUCK!!!!! Gotdamn that a curse wrapped in a paradox! Anyway, Meeks’ wife is not feeling all this attention at all! But, if he was committed to her, why should she care? LOL! She may be scared Rihanna gonna start feeling her guy. Stockton, where dude is from is close to Hollyweird and they are looking to get this man a show. Where, why and who, I don’t know. It could be talk.

Dude’s bail is set at $1 million. Good luck buddy!

Aaliyah Biopic Will Feature Alleged Marriage To R. Kelly

(AllHipHop News) Three months after Aaliyah informed the world Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number, the then 15 year old Aaliyah allegedly married one of the album’s key contributors: R. Kelly. In the upcoming Lifetime biopic on the life of Aaliyah, the songstresses’ alleged marriage will be explored according to the film’s executive producer. Aaliyah: Princess of R&B is based on the Aaliyah biography Aaliyah: More Than a Woman written by Christopher John Farley. According to the film’s executive producer, Debra Martin Chase speaking with The New York Daily News’ Page Six, Aaliyah’s “Aaliyah’s personal and professional relationship with R. Kelly will be explored”:

Aaliyah’s personal and professional relationship with R. Kelly will be explored with care in the film as we set out to depict her life with the utmost respect. Above all else, it’s our hope to inspire an entirely new generation with her music and larger-than-life talent.

In the mid-90s, Vibe Magazine released an alleged marriage certificate between Kelly and Aaliyah. The parents of Aaliyah allegedly had the marriage annulled as the alleged certificate placed the 15 year old singer’s age at 18. Last December Chicago Sun Times music journalist Jim DeRogatis spoke with The Village Voice and revealed the full details R. Kelly’s alleged sextape with an underage teen back in 2002. During his interview he explained how Aaliyah’s mother was displeased with the affect Kelly had on her daughter:

I had Aaliyah’s mother cry on my shoulder and say her daughter’s life was ruined, Aaliyah’s life was never the same after that. That’s not an experience you’ve had. I’m not expecting you to feel the same way I do.

Check out DeRogatis’ full interview, which includes court documents from the case, here.

Hip Hop Rumors: Chris Brown Goes Ape Over Rihanna Played In The Club?

Chris Brown is still clearly not over Rihanna, and made it painfully obvious in a L.A. nightclub, when he demanded that the DJ played her songs.

Star Magazine says:

“An employee at L.A. hookah lounge The Spot tells Star that the singer threw a fit during a recent visit when the DJ queued up songs by his ex. “Chris was in good spirits until Rihanna’s song “Diamonds” started playing,” the eyewitness explains. “Suddenly, he was fuming, pacing around like he was about to start a fight!”

Never one to take the high road, Chris brattily demanded that the DJ strike RiRi from the playlist. “Things got pretty heated,” the employee recalls, adding that the DJ retaliated by playing “Started From the Bottom” by Rihanna’s on-off boyfriend Drake!
“Chris was absolutely livid,” the spy adds. “Thankfully, the DJ laughed and changed the song — but it did make a few good minutes of entertainment at Chris’ expense!”

Talk about case of the ex…

Hip Hop Rumors: Jay-Z Creeping With Alleged Former Flame?

We know you remember back in the day Hov hopped on Mya’s ‘Best of Me’ remix, it quickly became a summer anthem, but word is that’s not the only thing he hopped on…

CrazyDaysandNights revealed that the two have had an ongoing relationship for a minute now, and Mya doesn’t have to worry about scoring a hit, because Hov pays all her bills…

“When people talk about Jay-Z and his mistresses, they often forget about a mainstay who has been there forever. She is the person he calls when he needs to be discreet and thinking about old times. She is that very short named R&B singer who hasn’t had a hit in awhile and doesn’t really even act or record any longer. She basically lives off the generosity of Jay-Z and a couple of other guys. She peaked at A-.Mya”

Jay’s got it but we’d hope he’s not spending it to keep his mistresses comfy…

“This is not just a coincidence. We think there is probably more to it than that,” stated Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jacki Kelley. “It does seem to be more targeted than random.”

The shooting took place in the parking lot outside Red Rocks, but the victims managed to drive into Denver where they were stopped by police. Schoolboy and another uninjured person were briefly detained by officers at the scene, but no one in his entourage was arrested.

The three suffering from gunshot wounds were eventually taken to Denver Health Medical Center. One victim has already been released.

No arrests have been made as of yet, but authorities claims to have received numerous tips about the incident. According to reports, police are looking for a man armed with a rifle. It is still unclear if Schoolboy was the target of the attack.

Chene Park Issues Statement About Rick Ross Cancelling Detroit Concert Appearance

(AllHipHop News) Reports began circulating over the weekend that Miami based rapper Rick Ross was not able to perform at HOT 107.5′s Summer Jamz in Detroit.

Ross’ cancellation was allegedly caused by local rapper Trick Trick’s “No Fly Zone” laws which prevent artists from making money in the city without getting their “clearance papers” approved by the Goon Sqwad member.

Ross was confronted by over 100 people outside the Chene Park Amphitheater – the site were Summer Jamz was being held. The Maybach Music Group leader and his management team reportedly felt his life was in danger and decided to leave the venue before performing.

The Right Productions, Inc manages and operates Chene Park. The company released a statement about the Rick Ross Summer Jamz cancellation. Shahida Mausi, president and CEO of Right Productions tells AllHipHop.com:

This incident greatly saddens me and our entire team at The Right Productions who work so diligent to host and produce outstanding entertainment performances at Chene Park. Reports from our venue operations and security teams indicate as a result of between 100-150 individuals lead by a local rapper, prevented and threatened to harm Ross if he entered the grounds to perform at Chene Park Amphitheater. The band of individuals orchestrated a human blockade around the service entrance to the venue – preventing Mr. Ross and his entourage from entering the premises.  A decision was made from Mr. Ross’ team the conditions were becoming threatening and posed a security risk.

We want to extend our deepest regrets to our patrons who attended Summer Jamz 17 who should have been treated to an outstanding performance from Rick Ross.  We have the upmost respect for our guests at Chene Park and they deserve better.  This is the fifth Summer Jamz event we have hosted with our partner Radio One and Host 107.5 FM – and until this point with no incident.  Acts of intimidation, bullying, threats or violence of any kind that compromises the security and enjoyment of our shows will not be tolerated at Chene Park.

I will be reviewing this matter with our collective team and sponsoring host to ensure the integrity and respect we hold for our patrons and artists is upheld for future acts performing at Chene Park Amphitheater.

Despite missing out on headliner Rick Ross, the people in attendance at Summer Jamz 17 were able to see B.o.B, A$AP Ferg, Sevyn Steeter, Rico Love, Boldy James, and Scarface. Customers who purchased tickets for the event can receive a discounted ticket for a future show at Chene Park. For more information visit www.CheneParkDetroit.com.

Jay Z & Beyonce's "On The Run Tour" On Pace To Be Huge Success

(AllHipHop News) While some reports claim that Jay Z and Beyoncé’s “On The Run Tour” was struggling to sell tickets, other news outlets are now reporting the superstar couple’s joint trek could likely be the second highest grossing tour per show in history.

[ALSO CHECK OUT: Beyonce & Jay-Z – “RUN” (Trailer)]

According to Forbes, “On The Run” will sell nearly 1 million tickets which would equal a gross of around $100 million. With 20 shows scheduled that would put Jay and Bey second only to U2’s “360 Tour” ($736 million/110 shows). U2 grossed $6.7 million per show. Jay and Bey are on pace to collect close to $5 million per show.

“The On The Run Tour opens next Wednesday in Miami’s Sun Life Stadium to over 48,000 fans, then rolls to Cincinnati to a sellout crowd of more than 37,000 fans, and on July 1st more than 50,000 fans will pack Boston’s Gillette Stadium,” revealed Live Nation in a statement to Billboard. “With sellout nights across North America, these first three shows are indicative of the strong demand. Overall, the tour has sold well over 750,000 tickets, grossing more than $90 million, and has unprecedented VIP and Platinum ticket sales.”

Forbes contributor Jesse Lawrence also debunks the claims that tickets for the show are not selling. He writes, “A robust secondary market is actually the sign of a healthy tour, not a sick one.”

According to Billboard most of the “unsold” tickets have already been purchased at least once. The site writes:

Ticket resellers are, for the most part, speculators; they buy tickets at on-sale, speculating that they will be able to re-sell them at a higher price. Sometimes they win big, and sometimes they lose. Quite often, resellers purchase more tickets than demand dictates, and in many cases these tickets are priced higher than the market will bear. In such a situation, re-sellers adjust pricing or take a hit, and that’s when fans with patience can find deals as re-sellers slash prices in an attempt to cut their losses. In the end, supply and demand rules the day, as it does in most businesses.

The “On The Run Tour” is set to kick off on June 25th at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium. Shows are also scheduled for 19 other stops including Atlanta, Metropolitan New York, and 2 dates in France.
