(AllHipHop News) Jay Z probably won’t win an ESPY anytime soon but him and his wife almost helped the Auburn Tigers win the BCS National Championship last night (January 6th).
Aurbun’s head coach Gus Malzahn used the images of Jay Z, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian as well as Will Ferrel’s Anchorman character, Ron Burgandy on playcards during last night’s championship game agaistn Florida State University.
Hip Hop and pop culture seem to be go-to sources of playcalling for Malzah as a playcard of his featuring Rick Ross and Ironman was discovered last August:

Remember when Chilli from TLC had that show, What Chilli Wants, about wanting to find a man? The thing that stuck out the most was that Chilli had a ridiculously long list of standards that presumably kept her single.
Fast forward to present day.
Wayne Brady might actually have what she wants. Yes. Wayne. Brady.
Whispers are saying that Brady and Chilli were spotted in Las Vegas at a private party over the weekend and that there was some canoodling going on.
Recent Taylor Gang signee Ty Dolla $ign teams up with his TGOD teammate for his latest track “Or Nah”. The track is yet another explicit slice of the slippery R&B Ty has become known for.
(AllHipHop News) To say the United States and North Korea’s relationship is rocky would be an early candidate for understatement of the year. In spite of that, two rappers from DC recorded a music video in North Korea and returned to America to speak on the generosity of the North Korean people, concerns about their safety and a great night of lobster and Sprite.
A month prior to DC rappers Pacman and Peso’s Kickstarter-funded trip to North Korea, the The State Department of America issued a blanket warning to all Americans traveling to North Korea. Speaking exclusively to The Guardian, the two MC’s say to avoid detection, they planned to shoot the video under the guise of a sightseeing tour, however became concerned about their safety before even arriving in North Korea due to the media coverage about their impending trip.
All the buzz we were getting, I thought we were gonna get hemmed up, captured. I was like: uh-oh. Are we gonna make it?-Pacman
The group were dangerously close to becoming prisoners of Beijing when Peso ran away after being struck by a car near Tiananmen Square, which resulted in Pacman being detained by the angered crowd. However, the duo was released and
The duo shot their scenes at government-approved locations in the company of their tour guides and filmed intermittently throughout the tour. Due to the fact the shoot had to be secretive, the duo were unable to use microphones, headphones or any music and “were just spitting to the voice that was in our head” according to Peso.
Despite the United States State Department’s warning of “the risk of arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens in North Korea”, Peso and Pacman maintain that the native North Koreans were magnanimous:
The old ladies looked like they were carrying the heaviest things. The army people walking down the street had guns. You see a whole bunch of rice fields. People was riding bikes. The little kids was walking down the street by themselves, they must have been in first grade. But everybody waved.-Pacman

(AllHipHop News) The much talked about Wu-Tang Clan reunion album is apparently close to being released. While there is still no official release date, according to the legendary group’s certified Twitter account the A Better Tomorrow LP is “coming soon.”
The Hip Hop collective’s first album since 2007’s 8 Diagrams was reportedly waiting on verses from Raekwon. RZA even suggested that the album could be released without Rae’s contribution. During an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show in November RZA spoke on his hope that they could “put some of the business to the side” and Raekwon would still make the album.
RZA also recently took to social media to share that he has been hard at work on A Better Tomorrow. The head of the Wu tweeted that he had spent significant time in the studio finishing up the project.
Leaving NY after 10 days in studio working on “A better Tomorrow ” it’s not easy being Abbott of the Wu but I’m blessed with this position.
(AllHipHop News) Queen Latifah’s return to television seems to be a success. The multi-talented performer’s daytime talk show has been renewed for a second season. The nationally syndicated The Queen Latifah Show will continue being broadcast on CBS stations and distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
“We look forward to building on the success of this year’s No. 1 new talk show by delivering the highest quality program to our stations, advertisers and viewers,” said John Weiser, president of U.S. distribution for Sony Pictures Television.
The program opened in September with an impressive 1.7 rating. It was the second biggest debut for a talk show since 2009. Queen Latifah’s guests have included Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Kelly Rowland, and Mary J. Blige.
(AllHipHop News) Pusha T piqued the music world’s interest when he announced that he was headed to the studio with The Neptunes for 20 days. It appeared the sessions were for Pusha’s next solo project, tentatively titled King Push, but KarenCivil.com is reporting that G.O.O.D. Music rapper is actually reuniting with his brother, No Malice, to release a new Clipse album.
The site claims to have confirmation that the Virginia duo is reconnecting for their first project since 2009’s Til the Casket Drops. The Clipse also previously released Lord Willin’ and Hell Hath No Fury. All three albums featured production from The Neptunes’ Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. Their upcoming album is to be released independently.
This comes as a surprise considering Pusha told the BBC late last year that his brother was not interested in getting back together as the Clipse. No Malice also expressed that they were on two different musical paths in a Vibe interview in June. Apparently, the two rappers have worked out their musical differences and will drop a new project in the near future.
(AllHipHop News) Chicago rhymer Common is set to return to music with his 10th album. Com spoke with Revolt TV to announce that the No ID produced Nobody’s Smiling LP will be hitting stores in 2014. This will be the rapper/actor’s first studio project since 2011’s The Dreamer/The Believer.
“I gotta say 2014 is going to be one of my greatest times in music. I feel excited about the project that I’m working on,” says Common. “Originally I was making an EP, but we’ve just been making a lot of songs.”
The veteran emcee explains that the concept for his latest work is based on trying to end the ongoing violence consuming his hometown and inner cities across the world.
“‘Nobody’s Smiling’ was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago,” adds Com. “We were talking about the conditions of what’s happening when I said ‘Nobody’s Smiling,’ but it’s really a call to action.”
Common also gives props to the new crop of rising rappers from Chitown.
“The younger artists, they’re really bringing what Chicago is about, and they have brought something new to Hip Hop,” says Common.
(AllHipHop News) TDE is planning to drop several projects in 2014. One of the artists from the West Coast based label that is looking to release his next album this year is Ab-Soul. The self-described “Soul Brother Number 2” chatted with Bootleg Kev about his next collection of work as well as his statements about leaving Black Hippy and his rumored joint project with Danny Brown and A$AP Rocky.
“Ali is mixing it right now,” reveals Ab about his next album. “We just want to present it in a real cool way. I feel like everybody’s being creative with how they’re presenting their music.”
The Control System creator also addresses a possible collaborative project with Danny Brown, and A$AP Rocky. While the three emcees have yet to record in music together, Ab-Soul expresses his belief that the trio could make that come together.
“That’s some s**t we’re really f**king around with,” says Ab. “We all got a chance to vibe out, and we’re all similar in a lot of ways. The whole ‘druggies with hoes’ type of vibe, so that could definitely happen.”
Another part of the discussion centered around Ab’s threat to leave his supergroup Black Hippy after XXL magazine put the crew on its cover with the headline “Kendrick Lamar & Black Hippy” without listing the names of Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, and Schoolboy Q. Ab says his comments were actually directed at all media outlets, but he does specifically speak on the XXL tagline.
“I wouldn’t have been mad if they had his name super big, and they just put our names under his real small. I wouldn’t have even been mad at that. Then I’m looking at the cover, and this is definitely, absolutely no disrespect, and I see Chance The Rapper’s name,” states Ab-Soul.
(AllHipHop News) Time either heals all wounds or we’re living in a different time, because former G-Unit affiliate shared some disparaging remarks on the death of former rival, Mazaradi Fox.
Fox and Smurf’s rift dates back to 2009 and in a statement obtained by HipHopDX, Smurf admits to never meeting Fox in person but taking offense to some of his remarks:
