(AllHipHop News) Sandra Bullock is 49 years old. George Clooney is 52. Both of them are the stars of the $100 million-plus grossing movie Gravity and were impressionable teenagers in 1979 when Sugarhill Gang released “Rappers Delight”. According to Bullock, the accomplished actors rapped a lot on the set of the thriller.
Bullock revealed on LIVE with Kelly and Michael on October 3rd that her and Clooney would rap the Sugarhill Gang classic on downtime during the shooting of Gravity. Bullock later revealed on a recent appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show that she originally learned the lyrics to woo a boy in school she was attracted to:
I was like, ‘Next time I go to that dance, I’m going to know every word. I’m going to make sure he sees me lip-syncing it, and I’m going to catch his eye, and say the words. And he’s going to like me. And sadly it worked.
Bullock then goes on to demonstrate her Hip Hop knowledge and raps a few of the lyrics to the song.

(AllHipHop News) The controversial “Stop-And-Frisk” policy being used by law enforcement agencies has come under scrutiny once again after video of an aggressive police stop in Philadelphia emerged recently. Two unidentified men were approached by 25th District officers after the two merely spoke to someone on the street.

“You don’t say hi to strangers,” an officer identified as Philip Nace tells the two pedestrians. His partner then adds, “not in this neighborhood.”
One of the men is then pushed against the police vehicle as the other tapes the incident with his cell phone. The cop orders that the phone be put away, but the man continues to record apparently without the officer’s knowledge.
As the phone continues recording, one of the officer’s can be heard saying, “I’ll split your wig open.” The officers then claimed that the men were “under investigation” which caused one of them to reply that he felt he was being harassed for no reason.
The cop then asks the man “how do you know what we know?” and mentions that he could have received a radio call for a robbery suspect who fits the man’s description.
“Why don’t you shut up! Everybody thinks they’re a f**kng lawyer, and they don’t know jack s**t,” yells the officer at one point. The officers later claim the two men were seen jaywalking, and accused one of the them of “weaken the f**king country” and “freeloading.”
“We train our officers to conduct lawful stops, and we continuously address this issue where necessary to provide the best service to the citizens of Philadelphia,” said police spokesman Lt. John Stanford.
Philadelphia Police Department’s Internal Affairs is investigating the incident. The department says the investigation and not the video will determine if the officer’s “acted appropriate in all aspects of their job.”
The Pennsylvania chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union is monitoring the Officer Nace stop and other Stop-&-Frisk situations in Philadelphia.

(AllHipHop News) Another day, another potential blockbuster movie role for actor Michael B. Jordan. The former star of HBO’s The Wire and the Oscar buzzworthy performer of Fruitvale Station has confirmed that he read for a role in the upcoming J.J. Abrams directed Star Wars: Episode VII.

“I mean, everybody’s going in on this project. They’re trying to figure out what they want,” said Jordan. “That’s another incredible franchise. It’s pretty crazy! We’ll see how it happens. I don’t know how I can do everything.”
Jordan previously worked with Star Wars creator George Lucas on the 2012 movie Red Tails. The 26-year-old has also been linked to a few other movie sequels. He is set to star in the next Rocky film, and it has been reported that he is in consideration for Independence Day 2 and The Fantastic Four.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to begin filming in 2014. The new installment of the classic sci-fi movie franchise will be the first produced since Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012. The screenplay is being written by Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire).
(AllHipHop News) The ongoing legal battle between music producers Pharrell Williams and Will.i.am over the rights to the phrase “I am” continues. According to TMZ, Pharrell is now requesting that Will’s copyright infringement case be thrown out.
[ALSO READ: Pharrell Teams With Google For i am OTHER YouTube Channel]
Will.i.am sent a cease and desist letter to Pharrell earlier this year stating that P’s “I am OTHER” brand was too closely related to his own trademarked “I AM”. In response, Pharrell filed legal papers asking a judge to allow him to continue using “I am OTHER.” Will then counter-sued saying the musicians’ similar styles and their mutual level of success in the entertainment business could confuse consumers.

The latest move in the back-and-forth is Pharrell seeking Will’s case to be thrown out. Pharrell believes Will’s claim that the two have both “achieved great distinction” is inaccurate, and therefore would not cause any confusion between “I AM” and “I am OTHER.”
Apparently, Pharrell also alleges that Will.i.am has a history of infringing on other people’s copyrights and has been sued in several infringement cases in the past. Pharrell wants the right to use “I am OTHER” without any legal consequences, and he wants Will.i.am to cover his lawyer fees.

It was an epic night last night in the city of Irvine, CA as some of the West Coast’s biggest names gathered at the Verizon Amphitheater to put on one of the year’s best shows. Snoop Dogg (not Lion), Ice Cube and Game were at the top of the bill which was rounded out by veteran acts such as The Dogg Pound, Xzibit (joined by King Tee and The Alkaholiks), Jayo Felony, Kid Frost and Rodney O & Joe Cooley.
In true Southern California fashion, the crowd was still filing in just as the 3rd act (Jayo Felony) was finishing up, however, those in the crowd were setting the party atmosphere to jams like Felony’s “What Cha Gonna Do,” Kid Frost’s “La Raza,” and Rodney O & Joe Cooley’s “Everlasting Bass.” The crowd was finally good to go once Xzibit hit the stage as he launched in to memorable cuts like “Multiply” and “What’s the Difference?” X to the Z then let his Likwid Crew brethren Tha Liks and King Tee perform their signature songs from the 21 and Over and X.O. Experience albums.
Vets Daz and Kurupt of The Dogg Pound took fans back with “We Can Freak It,” “Let’s Play House,” “What Would You Do,” and other West Coast classics. Kurupt’s little brother Scoe joined them on stage as backup as well as longtime affiliate Bad Azz.
Game was late to take the stage and the crowd was getting a little restless and rowdy as a few scuffles broke out in the seats. I also witnessed a few ambulance stretchers with people who had passed out drunk. After nearly a 40 minute wait, Game took the stage and immediately took everybody back to The Documentary days. After going in to newer songs like “Ali Bomaye,” Game was joined on stage by Tyga for a performance of “Faded,” and afterwards given his official YMCMB chain by his new labelmate. Some songs later and after 10 G-Unot’s, Game went back to The Documentary for “Hate It Or Love It” and teased a performance of “One Blood” before his time ran out. Actually, according to the timer on the side of the stage, it had been up for about 10 minutes. He killed it though. I got some feedback from audience members and they agreed with my overall assessment.
Ice Cube, WC and DJ Crazytoones took the stage and once again proved why they are one of the best live acts in all of Hip-Hop. Stage presence, chemistry, classic hits – it’s all there. The audience’s frenzy was at its height at this point and all it took was Cube’s verse from “Natural Born Killers” to set it off. The trio performed “Gangsta Nation,” “We Be Clubbin’,” “Put Your Back In To It,” “You Know How We Do It,” and “Check Yo’Self,” just to name a few. Ice Cube ended with “Today Was A Good Day” and naturally everybody in the damn arena sang along word for word… It really was a sight to behold.
Snoop Dogg took the stage and came out to an awesome screening that included clips of The Godfather, Scarface, with images of his own film performances including the one used on the Up In Smoke Tour (where Snoop and Dre blast away together in the liquor store). It was a combination of old and new for The Doggfather with sets ranging from backup dancers to just about his entire Dogg Pound crew (Daz, Kurupt, Soopafly, Bad Azz, Warren G). I noticed that quite a few in the audience were leaving so I went out to ask a few why they were leaving during Snoop’s performance and of course it came down to the usual Southern California attitude of wanting to beat the traffic. All in all, it was a truly epic night. I’ve been to quite a few shows out here on the West and this was about the livest I’ve seen an audience get. I brought back some pictures from the show. Check them out below!
(AllHipHop News) The Game cemented his new affiliation yesterday at the annual How The West Was Won show, when Tyga gave a Cash Money chain to be put on the Compton-bred rapper’s neck.
The pair had just finished performing Tyga’s song “Faded” when Tyga did the deed, certifying what the Birdman had said earlier in the day.

As you already know, T.I. is no longer on Atlantic Records. The ATL don left the label earlier this year and is now a free agent. I am hearing that the acclaim associated with his last album Troubleman has gone a long way in the industry. I heard there are a couple major labels vying for Tip’s attention. His last album went gold so he’s still a player in the game. I also heard that Atlantic did shove a lot of money in the promotion of it, so the financials may not have worked out on their end. Nevertheless, T.I. is going to be staring on “House of Lies” with Don Cheadle now. So he good.
