They Said What?! When Rap Lyrics Cross the Line

Even though Ray J said on Hot 97 that “I Hit It First” wasn’t directed his Kim Kardashian, the lyrics still have people second-guessing that claim.  With lines like, “She might move on to rappers and ballplayers / But we all know I hit it first … I had her head going North and her ass going South / But now baby chose to go West,” there is little room to believe that the record isn’t aimed at his sex tape co-star and father of her unborn child.

Hip-Hop has a long history of diss records, but this has offended some because of its very personal content.  And while freedom of speech is vital to creative expression, just because something can be said doesn’t mean it should.

AllHipHop.com now takes a look at a few other songs (in chronological order) that crossed the line into people’s personal affairs and, as a result, have become famous for all the wrong reasons.

Hit ‘Em Up: Spouses are a sensitive subject to many rappers.  Tupac’s rousingly repugnant “Hit ‘Em Up,” however,  wastes no time with such formalities and finds Pac talking about bedding Biggie’s estranged wife, Faith Evans, in the opening lines of the song.

S**t On You: Although it has since been resolved, Royce dissing D-12, especially Bizarre, over the group’s “S**t On You” instrumental rubbed a lot of listeners the wrong way when he referenced murdered D-12 member Bugz (“I don’t give a f**k ni**a, you can beat up with gloves/And if you want beef, f**k it you can meet up with Bugz”).

Super Ugly: The battle between Nas and Jay-Z is one of the most memorable ones in Hip-Hop history.  But when Jay jacked the beat to Dr. Dre and Knoc-Turn’Al’s “Bad Intentions” and talked about his sexual relations with Nas’ baby mother and leaving condoms on a baby seat, it even prompted Jay-Z’s mother to make him apologize for it.

Rip the Jacker: In many cultures, it is understood that one should respect their elders and that rings true for Hip-Hop too.  Canibus disregarded that ideal though and threatened to punch LL Cool J’s grandmother (the inspiration for LL’s “Mama Said Knock You Out”) in the mouth and called her a “b####.”

Loose Change: One of the most compelling things about Eminem as a songwriter is his willingness to discuss his personal life, emotions, and circumstances with listeners.  While feuding with Shady Records and G-Unit, Ja Rule used that information and took it a step too far by spitting, “Em you claim your mother’s a crackhead, and Kim is a known s###/So what’s Hailie gonna be when she grows up?

What do you think?  Are there other songs that you feel clearly crossed a line?  Sound off in the comments section!

Hip-Hop Rumors: Juelz Speaks On JoJo! Trinidad James’ Has A Beef?

Straight Dime KEEPA !!!!

Trinidad James may have to check his chicks. I admit this rumor isn’t the strongest but its a slow day. I suppose I’m mostly wondering what’s up. Who am I kidding? I don’t really care about this. But, here is the deal really fast. Apparently, Trinidad James’ ex is on a tear against the rapper, because of his new chick. Mind you, it was never verified or confirmed that Keepa was his girl. Ever. But, I’m hearing rumors that she’s dissing in new song him due to his new girl. I don’t know. Trinidad is all up in GQ now. He ain’t thinking about this chick.

Mike Epps, George Lopez & Many More To Appear In New Richard Pryor Documentary

(AllHipHop News) If you are a fan of Mike Epps, Kevin Hart, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, Eddie Murphy, or practically any other stand-up comedian from the last 30 years then there is one man who deserves a lot of credit for inspiring and providing a blueprint for the careers of those popular comics. The legendary Richard Pryor is probably your favorite comedian’s favorite comedian.

Epps, along with other famous comedy performers like Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Mel Brooks, and George Lopez, will pay honor to Pryor in the new Showtime documentary Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic.

The feature was directed by Emmy winner Marina Zenovich who previously directed Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired.

Richard Pryor’s widow, Jennifer Pryor, and his son, Richard Pryor Jr, were also involved in the project. Ms. Pryor served as a producer for the film along with Food Revolution‘s Roy Ackerman. Richard Jr. appears on camera to speak about his father.

Along with the celebrities’ personal reflections on Pryor’s role in shaping modern comedy, the documentary will also feature never-before-seen photos, concert footage, and television appearances of the icon.

Richard Pryor’s significant place in comedy history cannot be denied. The Emmy and 5-time Grammy Award winner was named the greatest stand-up comedian of all time by Comedy Central. He was also the first person to receive the Kennedy Center’s prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 1998.

It was Pryor’s candid and fearless comedic style that changed the way future comedians would approach the art of stand-up. Whether it was tackling his own personal demons like drug addiction or addressing social ills like racism and poverty, Pryor would openly touch on taboo subjects and include every part of his life into his routine.

He also helped establish that a black comedy actor in a leading role could be a major box office draw with his hit films Silver Streak, Stir Crazy, The Toy, and Brewster’s Millions.

His mainstream success led to a then remarkable $4 million contract to appear in Superman III which was a million dollars more than the salary of the movie’s star Christopher Reeve.

Oscar-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr is quoted saying that Pryor is “the single most reason for us making it in this business. He made it possible for [black entertainers] to be in this business on equal terms.”

Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic will premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 23rd, and then its television debut will take place May 31st at 9 pm EST on Showtime.

You can watch a NSFW video of clips from some of Richard Pryor’s stand-up and listen to his classic 1982 comedy album Live On The Sunset Strip below.

NEW MUSIC: Drake – “Girls Love Beyoncé”

(AllHipHop News) Last week Drake promised two new tracks featuring the Canadian rapper/singer would be coming soon, and over the past 24 hours the Young Money member kept his word.

Yesterday (March 15) the DJ Khaled led “No New Friends” featuring Drake, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Future debuted, and early this morning Drizzy kept the new music coming when his latest song “Girls Love Beyoncé” hit the net.

The ode to Mrs. Carter contains the hook from Destiny’s Child “Say Me Name” sung by singer-songwriter James Fauntleroy of the production team The Y’s and No I.D.’s Cocaine 80s collective. Fauntleroy is a Roc Nation signee who previously worked on G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer album.

This time around Fauntleroy partners with Drake to craft a tune reminiscent of the 90’s R&B sound produced by acts like an early Destiny’s Child.

Drake has shown love to the girl group’s “Say My Name” before. He covered the Grammy-winning 1999 hit song on tour in the past.

Hip-Hop Rumors: Kanye West In Paris With Mos Def And…CHIEF KEEF?

Oh. There are reports that Kanye West is looking to depart America for good to live in Paris. But. I also heard that its actually Kim Kardashian that wants that. Hmm. But, its seemingly Yeezy that is catching the flack for going over to Pari to party with Mos Def and CHIEF KEEF? Now, there is a huge report that is below. But, before you get to that report, I wanted to say that I heard that Keef was over there in Paris with Kanye. Perhaps, Ye wants to give back to the young buck and show him a bit of that world outside of Chi-Town? He needs to see it, because at home there are some bad man trying to get at him, as I have reported in the past. In the interim, read the report from Page Six that is actually quite critical of Kanye.

As Kim Kardashian struggles with criticism of her pregnancy fashion, Ray J’s ‘diss’ track “I Hit It First” and painful divorce proceedings, baby daddy Kanye West is living it up in Paris and is seriously considering moving there full-time, says a source.

“Kanye is loving Paris and is having a great time there working on his album,” the insider tells Page Six. “He’d like to move there.”

West has been in the French capital since Fashion Week in February. Whispers of him making a permanent move there first surfaced in March, with claims that Kim would also move to be with the kilt-wearing rapper so he can finish his sixth studio album and start his next fashion line. A report yesterday said Kardashian’s now even considering giving birth in gay Paree.

But Kardashian, who Page Six reported is due mid-June, has not packed up — nor is she leaving her LA-based family and reality TV empire — to join the singer full-time.

On Tuesday, she was spotted out and about with West in Paris, where she’s been shuttling back and forth from LA to see him since she had a miscarriage scare while flying back to California last month.

Sources told us at the time that doctors had ordered her to slow down on her jet-set lifestyle. On Friday, Kim was back in court in LA for a hearing aimed at settling her increasingly nasty divorce with Nets playerKris Humphries — who did not show up.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, West, who has not visited Kardashian in LA since his move to Paris, joined Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) onstage during his concert in France to perform the song “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.”

He also tweeted Thursday for the first time since Feb. 5, “Our family Hov brought that real hip-hop [bleep] this morning so me and Pusha wanna keep that feeling going” — referring to Jay-Z releasing his new song “Open Letter,” and the release of Pusha T’s “Numbers on the Board” produced by West.

NEW MUSIC: DJ Khaled feat./ Drake, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne & Future- “No New Friends”

The same lineup for 2011’s biggest hit of the summer “I’m On One” reprise their role (with the addition of Future) on the first single from DJ Khaled’s upcoming album, Suffering from Success. Rappers React to Boston Bombing

(AllHipHop News) Today (April 15th) a terrorist attack struck the city of Boston on Patriot’s Day during the Boston Marathon.

As of 6 p.m. EST, 2 people are confirmed dead, 6 are in critical condition and more than 100 were injured in two reported explosions.

While the city has no confirmed suspects, the governor of Massachusetts has been vigilant in informing the public to stay at home as the there has been heightened security nationwide.

All federal and state officials are in investigation mode at this point and a third bomb has been dismantled.

As of the time of print there were no threats made to the city of Boston prior to the attacks.

According to the Boston police commissioner, intelligence indicates that mobile bombs were placed in trash cans causing shrapnel related injuries causing some to lose limbs.

Signs The World Is Coming To An End: Bombing At Boston Marathon!

This is a true sign, I believe. Man, this world – as we know it – is coming to an end. Martial Law is right around the corner. The World is like, “Its not over for me. I’m going to keep revolving around the sun regardless of what you idiots do.”

Here is a recent report by The New York Times:

BOSTON — A series of explosions was reported near the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday, leaving two people dead and at least two dozen injured, according to the Boston Police Department.

A third explosion was heard just before 4 p.m., about an hour after the first two blasts. The police were apparently aware of that device before the explosion occurred.

The blasts took place about four hours after the start of the men’s race, which meant that there were still several thousand runners yet to finish the race. One senior counterterrorism official said it was too soon to tell whether the explosions were related to terrorism.

The Boston police confirmed they were looking into the explosions, but made no further comment. Another senior United States government official said that the Boston police and the F.B.I. said they had received no reports in recent days about a threat of an attack on the marathon and that there was no warning on Monday.

Several news outlets reported that a loud explosion was heard on the north side of Boylston Street, near a photo bridge that marks the finish line. Another explosion was heard several seconds later.

The Associated Press reported that authorities were helping injured runners leave the scene and that bloodied spectators were being carried to a medical tent that was being used for runners.

Bruce Mendelsohn, who works in a building near the explosion, said on Twitter that he saw blood on the sidewalks and about a dozen casualties.

Authorities in large cities are typically on the highest level of alert for events like a marathon, said Anthony Roman, a security expert.

“It is quite the counterterrorism effort,” said Mr. Roman, who runs Roman & Associates, a New York firm.

For major events in New York and other large cities, Mr. Roman said the police would typically weld manhole covers shut and examine the entire route just before the race. They would also place snipers on rooftops, with helicopters overhead, and analytic cameras in the city would be used, he said.

“They have all the analytic cameras in the city focusing on the race with their advanced software network, reading license plates,” Mr. Roman said.

The Boston Marathon is one of running’s most storied events, established in 1897 and one of the six World Marathon Majors. The event typically attracts an estimated 500,000 spectators and requires certain qualifying times for runners to compete.

Kid Rock Calls Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake’s Tour Ticket Prices “Garbage”

(AllHipHop News) Ticket prices for Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake’s Legends of the Summer tour have been reported to be as high as $275. Kid Rock thinks that is downright thievery.

[ALSO READ: Senator Marco Rubio Calls Jay-Z Cuba Trip “Hypocritical”]

In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, the always verbose entertainer claims that current ticket prices, Legends of the Summer specifically are “highway robbery”. Rock attributed the high ticket prices in the industry partly to entertainer’s astronomical asking prices.

Rock recently made headlines by making over 90% of the tickets for his upcoming summer tour $20. In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Rock spoke on his new business model and how it required some financial sacrifices from the 42 year old rocker/rapper:

“I said to them, ‘Look, I’ll go in as your partner. Don’t guarantee me a dime; if nobody shows up, I’ll lose money.’ It costs us $125,000 to show up with our crew and whatnot,” he explains. “I also said, ‘But I want to share beer, parking, hot dogs. Let’s put the money in a pot at the end of the night and figure out, based on the numbers, what I’ll get paid.’ Even if it sells out, I’ll take a pay cut.”

The concert will also offer free sandwiches and coffee at certain markets.

Rock asserts it costs upwards of $125,000 to put on each show and if attendance for the tour is not spectacular it could be a disastrous financial move.

Kid Rock will be joined by Kool and the Gang and Uncle Kracker on the tour’s first leg and then ZZ Top (in replacement of Kool and the Gang) for the second leg. The tour begins June 28th is Bristow, VA.

The Wake Up Show’s King Tech Talks Good Deeds And Helping The Cause

Often times people in the entertainment industry get a break, find themselves elevated to the next level and they do everything in their power to forget where they’ve been or who paved the way for them to get where they are currently. Well, thankfully, this is not the case when it comes to the “Wake Up Show” crew over at Shade 45!  Sway, King Tech and DJ Revolution are making headlines for doing something that does not involve throwing chairs or being shifty. Actually, it’s the complete opposite! They are giving back to the Hip Hop community in a huge way and King Tech sat down with AllHipHop.com to explain it all!

AllHipHop.com:  Thank You so much for taking a few minutes out to inform us about this event sir! We know you have a really big project that hits today, April 15th at 8 PM est, can you tell us about what you are doing and who is involved?

King Tech: Well, A while back, like 4 months ago, Sway, myself and Dj Revolution did a rap battle called “The Wake Up Show Rap Battle”. The Wake Up Show was always known for finding the newest hottest mc’s.

So, when Sway got his new slot on Shade 45 xm radio, that’s the first thing we wanted to do. That’s our way of reaching out to new mc’s that need a shot to get in the game. It came down to six guys who battled live on Sway in the morning, Chris Young, D.A.GO, Mitch Littlez , Yancy Deron, Dre Bill and M.O.E. Chris Young won the battle and the prize of $2,500. But then we decided to add to it and extend the opportunity. We gave the guys some dope tracks and saw how they did in the studio. This is where the producers M.Stacks, Track Bangas and Bosko got involved. This weekend we played final mixes of their collaborations.

Around the same time a few weeks back, I got a call that Saafir has gone paralyzed. I was like Whattt?! Doesn’t anyone give a Damn? This is not cool, how can we help? I thought why don’t we use our contest to bring some attention to Saafir’s situation. So we combined the two for this special mix going down tonight on Shade 45.
After it airs, I will contact all the mixtape sites and see if they’ll be willing to get down with us in just pushing it out to the fans so that we can further expose these artists and Saafirs story.”

AllHipHop.com: Wow! That’s a lot to take in all at once, tell us, what  has Saafir meant to you personally in your career over the years?

King Tech: It’s not really what he has meant to me so much as, i saw this brother pay his dues in hip hop, like we all did in the 90s, now no one seems like they gives a damn, which is very disappointing to me. I saw Saafir once in a while over the years, but not enough to say I’m doing this because that’s my closest homie. I’m doing this because another human being that we all knew and came up with needs our help! We have a nice platform to bring attention to stuff like this. Sometimes I wish these rap/industry guys that are making millions a year would just give back a little or just pay attention when people like Saafir need a little help. Maybe they do, but trust me, many artists toured with, made records with Saafir, and did projects with him that have way more power than us, and are acting like they’ve never heard of dude! If people want to help they should just go www.tostandagain.org.

Wake Up show -new Sway pic1

AllHipHop.com:  Okay, so is there a lesson that you have learned during the course of your involvement with this project?

King Tech: I always knew this day was coming where the OG’s would need help one way or another. There is no hip hop retirement plan. So young artists really need to start paying attention to what is going on with their funds, learn about investing, i.e stocks, bonds, yield returns, real estate or TD Ameritrade, etc. Basically prepare for the future.

King Tech: I have also learned from this project that there are a lot of talented young artists that need more help understanding everything from how to make a record, to mixing a record, to mastering or shooting videos. These days everyone rushes to put sh*t out before its ready, sometimes its better to maintain a low profile until you’ve built your skills & confidence. Playing the observer role for a while until you are ready. A dope finished project gives you an advantage, over 80% of the unfinished mess that’s floating all over the net these days.”

AllHipHop.com: What are you hoping the people take away from Monday nights show?

King Tech: Two things, one is that when we have a contest or we are reaching out to you through our radio shows, take advantage of it. Here are six guys I had never heard of that are getting airplay and being heard across the country, including Canada and Europe.

And the other is there will be a point in your life you will need help, and every good deed you do comes back to you, I’ve seen it. I told my daughter once, its like adding points to your spiritual credit card. One day you will need a favor from your guardian angels and they will respond. I’ve had to use that card once or twice, believe me.
So go to  www.tostandagain.org and donate a dollar or two or five, whatever! Saafir was in a legendary battle that took place right on our show on KMEL radio in San Francisco. The tapes of that battle went worldwide. It was real, as real as s### gets. Listen to the audio and you can hear it Hobo vs Hiero Battle.”

AllHipHop.com:  How can people keep up with you sir?

King Tech: For now twitter @wakeupshow is cool or hit my brothers @realsway or @djrevolution we are all one family anyways. If there is something I just gotta hear, they will definitely hit me!

We want to thank King Tech again for giving us a minute of his time and we encourage everyone to listen to Shade 45 TONIGHT at 8 PM and show your support!
