(AllHipHop News) Throughout Jada Pinkett and Will Smith’s highly publicized 16 year marriage rumors of infidelity and swinger behavior has appeared. Recently, Jada took to her persona Facebook account to address those rumors after they reappeared following her April 3rd interview with Huffpost Live.
In the interview, Jada reveals that the couple have flexible committed relationship which operates on a shared mentality on infidelity:
“‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay.’”
Jada reiterated this sentiment in her Facebook message to her fans. After posing a few questions on the conventions of love, Jada updated her definition of her marriage:
Here is how I will change my statement…Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship…this means we have a GROWN one.
The former star of Hawthorne also referred to her husband as her “best friend”. This is not the first time the power couple has elucidated the nature of their marriage. In July of 2008, Will informed the UK Newspaper Now that him and his wife discuss with one another before having sex outside of the marriage:
If it came down to it, then one would say to the other: “Look, I need to have sex with somebody. Now I’m not going to do it if you don’t approve of it
Jada is preparing to star and co-produce a Colombian film La escribana de uraba (Scribe) through her and Will’s Overbrook Entertainment. She also produced the documentary Free Angela and All Political Prisoners which chronicles Angela Davis’ political activism and court cases during the racially tumultuous 1970’s.
Free Angela and All Political Prisoners is out now.

I don’t why, but I really like this French Montana dude. Maybe its because he’s so outrageous at time. You know? Or maybe its because he’s so loyal.

RELATED: AHH’s 2012 Year End: Illseed’s Person of the Year – French Montana
Anyway, I have a small tidbit of information for you. The boy French is always down to help a friend. In this case, I heard he’s working diligently to make sure his homie Max B is not forgotten. Apparently, Max B will be on the intro to French’s debut album, Excuse My French, and will also let Max get wavy on one of the album’s singles. Amalgam Digital (‘member them?) still have Max B on their roster and Frenchie had to do the appropriate legal wrangling to make it happen. I heard it wasn’t easy! Diddy was rumored to be pulled into the fray to get the paperwork done. I even heard Max B was doing the business from the bing. You know, they got Max doing football jersey numbers. Hope he’s strong.
Now, if French can help his other friend.

(AllHipHop News) It appears the controversy over Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s recent trip to Cuba lingers on. Yesterday, Florida senator, second generation Cuban-American, and possible 2016 Republican presidential contender Marco Rubio appeared on several Sunday news shows and repeatedly took the two superstars’ choice to travel to the Communist nation to task.
“Quite frankly, I think it’s hypocritical of the people who took that trip, because they didn’t go down there and meet with some of the people that are actually in trouble today,” Rubio told CNN’s Candy Crowley on State of the Union.
“There’s a hip-hop artist in Cuba who is on a hunger strike and has been persecuted because he has political lyrics in his songs,” Rubio added. “If they really wanted to know what was going on in Cuba, they should have met with some of the people that are suffering there, not simply smoke cigars and take a stroll down the street.”
During an interview on ABC, Rubio also said Jay-Z needed to get informed about Che Guevara who was a key figure in the Fidel Castro led Cuban Revolution in the 1950’s.
“One of [Jay-Z’s] heroes is Che Guevara,” said Rubio. “Che Guevara was a racist that wrote extensively about the superiority of white Europeans over people of African descent, so he should inform himself on the guy that he’s propping up.”
Jay-Z has been seen wearing t-shirts with Che’s image on it, and even referred to himself as “Che Guevara with bling on” on the track “Public Service Announcement” from 2003’s The Black Album.
He later explained the context of the reference in his book Decoded stating that it was a response to a writer who questioned his decision to wear a Che shirt with a Jesus piece because of its apparent clash between the ideas of materialism, religion, and socialism.
Jay told MTV in 2010:
The second verse of “PSA” may not have that many hidden jewels in [it], but the story behind why I wrote the second verse is pretty interesting. It’s sort of that look on rap, how this writer had written this article about me wearing this Che Guevara shirt [with a] Jesus piece, and she was like, “The Jesus piece is hitting his head,” and I was like, “You’re going a little too far. It’s a T-shirt and a chain. It’s not literally hitting his forehead”… That [experience] inspired the entire verse. “I’m like Che Guevara with bling on, I’m complex.” It’s the whole entire story of how and why I came to write that second verse on “PSA.”
Last week’s criticism about his sanctioned trip to Cuba led to the release of the response song “Open Letter”. The public will have to wait and see if Senator Rubio receives a mention in a future Jay track.

(AllHipHop News) G.O.O.D. Music member Pusha T is prepping the release of his debut album My Name Is My Name for later this year. This weekend at the Coachella Music Festival the emcee spoke with Fuse about the project and revealed that he sees it as a combination of Notorious B.I.G.’s Life After Death, Ma$e’s Harlem World, and RZA’s production of Only Built For Cuban Linx.
“Those are like the perfect moods in description of diversity of what I want to hear in rap,” said Pusha. “The raw RZA edge… the lyricism of a Biggie… the arrogance of a Ma$e in Harlem World.”
Pusha goes on to talk about using R&B sounds on the album as well, but he also makes it clear his LP will have a traditional Hip-Hop vibe.
“I want some of my album to sound like a mixtape,” said Push. “I want it to have that rap feel. Uncompromised rap feel.”
Pusha also reveals that Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, The-Dream, Swizz Beatz, Rico Beats, Nottz, Don Cannon, and Hudson Mohawke will handle the producing on My Name Is My Name.
Features will include Kanye, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Future, and members of the Re-Up Gang.
The Clipse rapper recently dropped the song “Numbers On The Board,” and in a previous interview stated that a single with Kanye called “I Am” will be available soon.
He also says he has recorded a verse for an upcoming project by his brother and fellow Clipse emcee Malice.

Pusha expects to announce the release date for the album sometime over the next week.

That’s a face!
My first thought? This kid cannot be president now? I dunno. Anyway, the latest rumor on the street is that Kanye West and Kim K hope to avoid all the stress the BS of the papz by having their baby in Paris, home of the free. The New York Daily News is reporting this is the real possibility. They have pretty tough anti-paparazzi laws from what they say, so that fits. The kid is due this July coming up so I guess they are making some decisions. But, perhaps they should consult with Jay-Z or Beyonce, because those two have controlled the papz.

(AllHipHop News) Today (April 15) is tax day in the United States. As some citizens were getting prepared to file last-minute tax forms over the last several days, one Grammy winning performer was filing legal documents to prevent her conviction on three counts of tax evasion from sending her to jail.
According to TMZ, former Fugees member Lauryn Hill is asking a judge for probation for her guilty plea to owing federal taxes on over $1.8 million in income from the years 2005, 2006, and 2007. Hill earned $818,000 in ’05, $222,000 in ’06, and $761,000 in ’07.

Reportedly, Hill’s documentation explained that the “Killing Me Softly” singer avoided paying taxes in those years because she had to protect her family.
“She withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family,” TMZ quotes the papers to read. There were no specific mention of the type of threats Hill or her family members allegedly faced.
Hill is also requesting that the court take into consideration that it would be much easier for her to pay back the taxes she owes if she is placed on probation and allowed to continue to work as oppose to being sent to jail.
Hill was originally released on $150,000 bail in June of 2012 which allowed the rapper/singer to tour internationally. Lauryn joined Nas on their joint “Life Is Good/Black Rage” Tour late last year.

The judge in the case is expected to rule on Hill’s sentence on April 22. Each count carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.
We loved interviewing and writing about Bilal for our exclusive interview, (Read that here.) That we had to revisit some of our favorite hip-hop songs that featured the soulful singer. During his long hiatus from recording, some of his best work came from his collaborations with rap artists. From Jay-Z and Jadakiss to Common and Kweli, Bilal has collab’d with some of the best spitters in the game. When asked to list his favorites, even he has to dig deep, “The Dilla ones,” he says, having worked extensively with the late legend. “Nightmares (The Clipse), Jay-Z that was something unexpected,” Bilal reminisces, “I had a lot of fun doing that. When I worked with Scarface, that was kind of fun as well.”
We dug in our proverbial crates, reached out to our friends, and even asked the man himself to come up with this list of our Top 5 Bilal Hip-Hop Collabos. Feel free to add your favorites.
“Fallin'” Jay-Z feat. Bilal, American Gangster
Released in 2007, as a concept album based on the film by the same name, American Gangster was a critical success and is considered one of Jay’s most personal albums. On “Fallin'”, Bilal, backed by a Dramatics sample, sings the chorus, “I know I shouldn’ta did that/I know it’s gon’ come right back/I know it’s gon’ destroy everything I made/It’s probably gon’ get your boy sent away/But this game I play ain’t no way to fix it/it’s inevitable.” The song is a highlight of Jay’s 10th studio album, the album tied him with Elvis for most number one albums, he broke that record two years later with Blueprint 3.
“Reminisce” Bilal feat. Mos Def & Common
From his debut, 1st Born Second, “Reminisce” was produced by J. Dilla and featured verses from Mos Def and Common reminiscing on former loves, the song was one of Dilla’s best with a Mos doing background vocals throwing back to the Pete Rock C.L. Smooth classic, “T.R.O.Y.” The song was an ode to ex-girlfriends everywhere and probably caused a slew of ill-fated reunions. “As I think back/will I ever see her face again/as I reminsce.”
“Fast Lane” Bilal feat. Jadakiss and Dr. Dre
It was a big win for an R&B singer to have Dre beats, especially in 2001, as the legendary producer was flying high with Chronic 2001 and the success of his protege’, Eminem. But, Bilal, at the time signed to Interscope, got not one but two Dre tracks for his debut. Featuring, Jadakiss, “Fast Lane,” was a cautionary tale about the street life. ‘Kiss dropped several gems like, “seem like tellin’ is in/ni**as’ll sign states/get a order of protection/and tell ’em again,” and “I’m a left lane ni**a/ my life is much faster than yours/I’m with a chick/then it’s attached to her bra.” His verses complemented Bilal’s voice and Dre’s beat making for a hip-hop perfect storm.
“Waiting for the DJ,” Talib Kweli feat. Bilal
You really can’t talk about a Bilal collab without mentioning this song. From Kweli’s solo debut, Quality, in 2002-“Waiting for the DJ” wasn’t a huge hit single, but did well on the charts and the fun, upbeat video got heavy rotation. One of the big anthems from hip-hop “second” golden age, the neo-soul/alt hip-hop/Soulquarian era where The Roots, Kweli, Mos, and company ruled the airwaves and were the major influencers of the culture. “Waiting for the DJ,” was just a fun song that… well, it made your body rock.
“Can’t Get Right,” Scarface feat. Bilal
From ‘Face’s last full-album release, “Can’t Get Right,” was a soulful treatise on Black ghetto life. Released in 2008, the song was classic Scarface, full of pain and trials. “Can’t afford to fill my prescriptions/so we all gon’ die/CVS is slangin’ dope/on every block/worldwide.” This song demonstrated how widespread Bilal’s hip-hop appeal was, at the time of it’s release, it had been 7 years since his previous album, and would be 5 more years until his next. Like all of his collaborations, this song kept fans loving his sound between studio projects.
(AllHipHop News) After being involved in one of the most notorious Hip-Hop rap battles in history, Nas would definitely be considered one emcee that has a keen understanding of the impact lyrical beefing.
The Queensbridge native’s 2001 war of words with Jay-Z for the title of “King of New York” helped elevate both rappers to legendary status. It’s significance is so great that a dozen years later fans of both emcees still debate who came out on top even though the rappers themselves have long settled the dispute personally.
While speaking with Australian music website themusic.com-au, Nas expressed his belief that rap battles are a necessary and vital Hip-Hop tradition.
“Hip-Hop battles are very important parts of Hip-Hop as well. You never know when it could happen. When it happens, people get a chance to see what you’re made of,” said Nas.
Battles have been a part of Hip-Hop culture from the very beginning. The earliest Hip-Hop DJ’s would compete to see who could rock a party the hardest. Then when the emcee came to the forefront, they wanted to prove who was the best rapper on the mic by going head-to-head. Competition was also a driving force in the rise of b-boy crews and graffiti artists.
That competitive nature has survived in Hip-Hop until this day with recent rap battles like Cassidy vs Meek Mill, Lil Wayne vs Pusha T, and Drake vs Common still capturing the attention of rap fans.

“What I say to people is, ‘When you’re an emcee, you never know when your day’ll come to be in a Hip-Hop battle’,” added Nas.
Hip-Hop is a severely competitive sport, and when a challenge arises the two opponents have to step in the ring and prove who the real champion is. The custom of beefing on wax not only shows the public which rapper can handle their own on the mic, but it also provides a needed nonviolent means of settling a dispute.
(AllHipHop News) Lil Scrappy has reportedly had his wages garnished to pay a debt.
Scrappy is one of the stars of VH1’s reality show, “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” but the money he’s getting will be going to a booking company he owes.
He owes the company $100,000, a debt that originally started at over $72k. The extra funds due represent interest accrued on the balance.
According to TMZ, the monies will be coming directly from the salary derived from “Love & Hip-Hop.”
(AllHipHop News) Reebok’s recent dissolution of their endorsement deal with Maybach Music Group head honcho Rick Ross over his controversial “U.O.E.N.O.” lyrics has everyone talking. In a statement exclusively obtained by AllHipHop, “Freeway” Rick Ross speaks on the recent turn of events for his constant legal rival.
[ALSO READ: Rick Ross Releases Official Apology; Reebok Comments]
While “Freeway” Rick Ross admits that the recent events are unfortunate, he believes this incident is a reminder of artistic responsibility:
It is a sad situation, but we all have to be responsible about what we say in art and in life. Maybe this will be a turning point that brings a better awareness by artist of repercussions from consumers. The youth are listening and following us all as role models.

Always outspoken, “Freeway” Rick Ross also advises future endorsers in Hip Hop to properly assess who they are investing in so they are not blindsided by these type of preventable mishaps:
Endorsers also have to hold this high standard in evaluating who they use to sell products in our communities. They can’t just wait until a firestorm and react, they should evaluate their partners throughout the time of their deals.
On March 21st, “Freeway” Rick Ross lost a legal battle over illegal republication with rapper Rick Ross’ parent label, Warner Bros Music. The ex drug kingpin has been unsuccessful on two previous attempts at suing Rick Ross over trademark infringement dating back to a August 2010 legal defeat.
“Freeway” Rick Ross is currently working on his as-of-yet untitled biopic with Nick Cannon assuming the role of famous ex-con. “Freeway” Rick Ross is also looking to release the documentary Crack In The System this fall with Emmy award-winning documentarian Marc Levin assuming directing and production duties.
