5 Things That Will Come Out From Frank Ocean’s Coming Out

I have to give Frank Ocean his props for coming out of the closet and announcing to the world that he’s a gay man. While he’s not a Hip-Hop artist as has been asserted in the mainstream, he’s an affiliate. With that said, he’s a representative of the ever-changing times in urban music and general music. Here are five things that will come out of his coming out:

1) First of all there have been countless rumors of people in the music game – and more specifically Hip-Hop – who have been gay. You know the rumors of everybody from Erick Sermon to Missy Elliot to Queen Latifah to others were mostly shrouded it in mystery. It’s almost like they are regarded as cowards with all the praise that Frank Ocean is getting. I think we’ll see others see his bravery and opt to come out as gay, too.

2) There are the invariable fakers. There are already people out there that are fake gays, and they are going to continue to fake like they are coming out of the closet, when they are really just testing a different entry point into fame, acclaim, and success. Like, this attempt backfired for Lil B the Based God calling his album, I’m Gay. Frank Ocean’s revelation was far more sincere and earnest, even though some are speculating it is also a stunt for a press bump before his album hits later this month.

3) Hip-Hop will be forced to cool off on the homophobia. The fact is, Hip-Hop has had gay people in it for a very, very long time. That is a fact and far truer than people care to admit. But, somehow, unlike the rest of the world, the Urban Music world has been slow to accept homosexuality. Sure, there have been folks like Little Richard and Sylvester back in the day, but recently, gays in R&B and Rap stay tucked away in the closet. Frank Ocean is at the beginning of his career, but you better believe with Jay-Z and Kanye West as homies, along with Odd Future, maf*ckas are going to have to recognize.

4) The fact is, you are going to listen to Frank Ocean differently now that he’s made his reveal. Seriously, listen to “f*ck me good/ f*ck me long/ f*ck me numb.” “Novacane” is clearly about women, but now it will be “heard” in a manner quite disparately.

5) Frank Ocean has officially solidified himself as a star that we’ll never forget. Before his first love being a man, he was a dude with great potential that just happened to have an affinity for attracting megastars. Now, he’s opened himself up to new possibilities and a new crew of supporters. Last, but not least, early listening sessions suggest strongly that his new album, Channel Orange, is nothing less than incredible.

RELATED: With just one announcement, Frank Ocean has trumped AllHipHop.com’s announcement of 2011 as “The Gayest Year in Hip-Hop.

Gay Gay Gay Gay Gay… illseed is gay

  • Thank you iLLseed for this article.

Frank Ocean is a G, straight up.

  • SMH… the world is coming to an end quick. the The Gay Agenda has taken over and blinded us all. We have to accept everything gay but they dont accept black people yet. Nobody cares about Frank. He gets NO play in the “A”. All these closet coons need to hurry up and come out so it won’t be front page news every damn day. Its a lot of money behind the Gay Agenda and yet people don’t want to see that truth.

    • PorchBoySlim

the “A” is the new gay capital of america though bruh…he might as well get play

      • that was funny…. San Francisco still got the crown tho. Thats just the media image but the real “A” a lot different…

      • PorchBoySlim

the media image gotta be coming from somewhere though same as SanFran. I got a couple homebois that live down there and a couple dyke homegirls and everybody say its a homo paradise out there lol

      • haha damn

      • yea its gays out here… Shit the city has become a national and international hotbed so everything is out here. The real Atlanta has been pushed out to the suburbs of the city since they forced all the black people out. Most of the people in the city now aren’t even from Atlanta. I’ll go to the city and meet a girl and tell her I’m from Atlanta and she’ll get surprised as hell. Sounds crazy but it’s like they got two different Atlanta’s now…But you can go out and never see a gay person. It just depends on were you at.. Midtown and Uptown (Buckhead/Lennox area)mainly..The rest of the city and the surrounding area is pretty normal…

      • PorchBoySlim

lol damn bruh shits gotta suck lmao…my homeboi said he be racking up on hoes though b/c its so many gay people that its easy to pull bitches…hmmmm guess I gotta pack my suit case then lol

      • lol… yea go ahead and make that trip..4real

      • yea i hear the same thing, but if thts the case u better strap up then cuz its a good chance alot of those broads done been hit by a bi nigga or DL one before. Ijs the aids rate there is high as hell

      • Dat’s true.  Back in the 90’s and early 2000’s you couldn’t find a gay person in the A.  Now that everyone is relocating to Atlanta within the last 10-15 years, it has got outta control a bit.  When Freaknik and sh#t was poppin off, it was unheard of.  Now we got people from all coasts of the United States and even overseas who live here now.  And on top of that, only about 25% of Atlanta’s population is actually from Atlanta!  Dat ish cray.

      • haha i heard atlanta got alot of gays. i heard there #3 and San Fran is still #1 and salt lake city is #2

    • The epitome of ignorance.

      • you still aint answer my argument in whats the point of coming out gay when people can’t come out straight??? Being Gay has been a normal part of society for years. It’s the coming out gay part that’s not normal. If you’re gay then you shouldn’t be trying to hide the shit in the 1st place. Just because someone had low self-esteem and cared about what others thought of them isn’t anybody’s problem but their owns. Gay is a sexual preference. We’re not asking people do they like to be tied up in bed. Pretty soon voting ballots and job applications are going to have gay or straight on the catergory list.

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

People don’t need to come out straight because straight people are in the majority, likely because gay people have been persecured for most of history. If you are gay now you are likely to be abandoned by your friends (check the comments on this site,) beaten up or killed, or insulted openly by popular media (people defending the use of the word “fa*got” like it’s gay peoples’ fault for getting offended.) Consider this: the argument of “why is there no white history month?” If one group is in the minority and has experienced persecution, and continues to still, then they need to symbolize their strength. The only reason you need to announce your straightness is out of spite.

      • arieslove

Let me first say I love Frank Oceans music and feel like if he’s gay bi or whatever that is his business and right, while I don’t believe that homosexuality is natural order so be it ,it’s a non issue as long as he is happy with his life and the decision he is making the fact that I don’t agree with his lifestyle doesn’t mean that I hate all gay people or think they are less than nor does it stop me from loving my gay uncle the same way I love my straight ones or having healthy meaningful relationships with my gay friends whom I would like to add have been gay and in a committed relationship for the 7years that I have known them. The problem today is that people try to only see things as black and white and forget there are several shades and colors in between, people are supposed to have differences that is what makes everyone unique and special. My issue with your post is simple the reason there is no white history month is not because white people are the majority it’s because if you open your history books the majority of the stories that are taught are about white people and the blacks, mexicans, Indians, asians every other race that isn’t white gets a paragraph maybe a chapter in a book that is over a thousand pages thick.

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Yeah I think there was a misunderstanding with what was meant by “majority.” I basically meant what you are saying. You need a black history month because most of what you learn is white history. You need BET because most of the shows on TV are white people. You need a gay pride week because there is absolutely nothing like that at any other point in the year. But then you see members of the majority becoming very insecure, as if it threatens them somehow. The white people saying “that’s not fair why don’t they have a white history month!” are the same people who say “well why don’t we have a STRAIGHT pride parade!” except this time, the second group contains members of all races, which is really really funny if you think about it.

      • Mark H

The only reason gay people hide, is because the world is full of ignorant, vicious, and hateful people. I know gay people whose parents threw them out on the street when they were teenagers because they came out. Look at the news everyday and you can find homosexuals being gay-bashed and murdered for being who they are. So why in the world can you not understand why a gay person would “hide”? If everyone in this world were loving and open to homosexuals, they wouldn’t need to keep it to themselves. So if you want gays to stop hiding, why don’t you choose to become part of the solution and show them some love when they DO come out.

    • Mark H

“The world is coming to a end quick.” Because of homosexuality? Considering homosexuality has had documented existence for thousands of years, if gays are a sign of the world coming to an end, then it sure has been a long damn process.

      • not because of homosexuality… just pointing out how ridiculous the media hype machine stirs the pot on every non-issue. Their are a few things that the media knows causes an uproar in the public and the gay issue is one of them.

  • ccwaterbound32

well all i got to say is i aint never listening, buying, or even thinking about trying to support anything dude is doing if thats the case i got homosexual family members and love them dearly but i dont agree with homosexuality itself whether it be a man with another man or a woman with another woman that’s just me. it’s like morals have totally been rejected within our society and you don’t hear anyone going against it saying anything noteworthy. i mean if you want to do all that s*it go on ahead all im saying is don’t bring that s*it near me because i aint fixing to approve of it. but big ups to frank and i hope he get’s rich and prosper i don’t approve of what he does but hey that aint for me to decide at least he being real and not lying cuz they got alot of them clowns f*cking them homosexuals spreading them diesases poisoning the p*ssy population with they ole sick d*ck….

    • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

“them clowns f*cking them homosexuals spreading them diesases poisoning the p*ssy population with they ole sick d*ck…. .” Gay men don’t have sex with women, thats what makes them gay men.

      • ccwaterbound32

so what you call bisexual males sleeping with heterosexual females who sleep with heterosexual males then?

      • shiiitt alot of them do! I know of plenty “gay” men with kids that they had themselves with a woman the old fashioned way.. Some have wives, an mess with men on the DL.. They go out an have bf’s an everything. Thtas how aids got spread around an why african american women are now the #1 new cases of aids in this country. In the white community being gay is acceptable with black church going ppl it isnt tolerated so u have flocks of gay dudes getting gf’s that they dont really want jus to please they mamas, an the are doing men on the side. Alot of em arent Bi either, a gay man can force himself to sleep with a chick, dosent mean he is going to enitirely enjoy it.

  • My whole issue is whats the point in coming out Gay??? Thats a sexual preference. Just like its ridiculous if someone gets in front of a camera and says they are straight; why is it cool to come out and say you’re gay?? Its like they are trying to force feed us this b.s. If you are gay and you want eveybody to know you’re gay; all you have to do is go out in public with your same sex companion and everyone will see it. Just like how straight people got out with their opposite sex companion to dates like the movies or dinner.. Just because you had low self esteem about yourself and you hid the fact that you’re gay because you actually cared about what people think of you is nobody’s problem but your owns. Its like the world is trying to find another way to separate people and categorize people. Now its the Gays vs. the Straights movement…

    • HustlaDaRabbit

Because, idiot. Artists, authors, musicians etc. are the voice for people who don’t have one.

Frank represents a generation of people scared to be themselves in public, because people like you act like it’s super-offensive to come out of the closet. Homophobia runs rampant in the world. People beat the Bible over each others heads, accost, judge, and torment other people over their sexuality.

Frank wants those people who are persecuted, scared, and damaged by intolerance, to know that they aren’t alone. That even superstar hip-hop artists feel the same way they do. That it’s okay to be gay.

It’s so ridiculous how everyone is making a fuss about it by saying “What’s the point of coming out of the closet? It’s just for attention.” Nice attempt at veiling your homophobia. To act like this isn’t a big deal, to act like this isn’t brave of Frank, and to act like this article is comparable to an article about Kim Kardashian relaxing on the beach with Kanye West is INSANE. This is a huge deal, and deserves the attention it gets. Godspeed, Frank.

  • rep87

Real men like real R& B AND REAL HIPHOP and theres nothing wrong with that, everybody have they lane, bottom line Respect im not into listening to a man singing to another man or woman singing to another woman but if thats your thang be you , We know some are trying to shock to sell records but it want work this very site is pushing BEEF between artist and thats not working either the days of the public being all excited about a rap beef is dead ,Rap battles were cool and they are gone someone need to bring it back how bout it AHH !

  • Pierre Elliott

Exactly. And in the end youre still trying to push this nggas units.
Incredible? I seriously seriously doubt it.

  • Blunt_Instrument1

Erm, no. Maf*cks don’t have to recognise shit. Just cos he’s co signed by them dudes. GTFOH. People jumping on the “look at me, i’m cool with gay people bandwagon”. Like Soufside said, why is this being force fed to us. If he’s gay that’s his business but don’t try make a show of it. And I’m really sick of people like illseed supporting this mess.”Frank Ocean has solidified himself as a star we won’t forget”. Really?! Really!? Not by making good music or selling records but by grabbing attention for his sexuality. I think you got carried away with your political correctness. Once again…..GTFOH

    • Mark H

Nothing is being forced fed to you. If anything, we are ALL force fed heterosexuality. Every damn song is talking about f-ing a girl, or sucking a dude. Every movie and TV show and magazine has straight people everywhere flaunting their sexuality in our faces. So you mean to tell me that a young brotha who might risk his career (though I think his career will now EXPLODE) by choosing to be REAL with all of us about who he is, is force feeding us his gayness? That’s crazy. If it’s not your style, then don’t listen. But my dude just manned the hell up BIG TIME. Respect!

      • diamonddame

seriously.. when did being who you are become force feeding people with things? I suppose hip hop force feeds black culture onto everyone else? all the ‘fans’ ocean loses by being honest are corny and weren’t necessary to begin with. These people are as flaky as the day is long. Frank Ocean did an amazing thing, even as a straight girl, it inspired me. people need to stop lying and pretending and posturing and focus on being authentic.

      • being who you are isnt force feeding people; its the medias hype machine of everybody that decides to come out thats force feeding people. Being Gay is a sexual preference. Just like if someone was to ask if you like to be tied up or if you like to have phone sex; its none of anybody’s damn business because its a sexual preference. I see gay people all the time who are happy and living their life and not caring about what people think of them. You dont have to come out to be Gay. If your Gay live your life in the open (whether it be going out on dates or in public w/ your same sex companion) and people will see that you’re gay. Some want accept it and some will but who cares. Yes being gay will get you ridiculed or judged but everybody gets ridiculed or judged. If you are black you are getting ridiculed or judged everyday. We are acting like being gay is another race or something. It shouldn’t be front page news or headline TV news everytime someone decides to not be ashamed to hide their lifestyle preference anymore. People are acting like Gays are being persecuted to the bring of extinction; when in fact its the opposite. Being Gay will get you more opportunites in life and thats a great benefit to have. We cant make everybody like us; you just have to accept who you are and not be afraid of what the world thinks of you.

  • I can respect the fact that he’s gay, and I’ll still remain a fan.  But if he’s singing about doing men, being that’s not my type of hype, I won’t be rocking to it.  But if he is singing about relations with  woman, and it sounds good, then I’ll rock with it.  Dude got a cool sound, and I liked how he did his own thing….  I do not look down on dude for being Gay, especially by him manning up to it…  It’s them down low n*ggas that I disagree with 100.

    • hahaha AMEN!!

Da Brat has bragged about her bisexuality in her albums…13 years later, I still bumps the phuck outta Unrestricted from beginning to end. If the flow is nice and the talent is there, who cares what they do? Now if they rapping about it, I can see where sexually provocative material would be more accepting of a female bisexual (or gay) rapper vs. a male bisexual (or gay) rapper. That coming from a dude would get the stop button real quick. Either way, I don’t know this dude’s voice from anything major unless I’m looking at the liner notes (like Novacaine). Hip Hop has fallen off anyway and only a handful are worth my patronage.

Congrats on getting it off ya chest pimpin…but I could care less

    • Im attractive to them, him, her, an you, lol shit still bangs! I love Brat,(best female rappper imo) but then again Im a Bi woman frm the  midwest an i can relate to alot of her music. A some chicks might not, i think sexuality matters not when discussing good music lol. Good comment

  • Its crazy how homo niggas get discriminated by black males/females way more then homo females. shits crazy. but i dont give a damn cuz im straight like a highway and a iphone

    Follow me @412Plus:twitter

  • I guess it’s cool, but I don’t like it. At the same time, I advocate rap reflecting some of the yet untapped facts of society and life – outside of the hood and corresponding topics. So, I’m happy to hear that an artist is truly taking a risk. Afterall, it would be odd to tell the guy not to rap about his own life. But again, I don’t too much care to listen to stories about gay love. It’s just not my thing o.O

    • Mark H

I really respect your comment. That’s very real. I just wish you and other people would stop thinking that Frank’s songs are gonna be about “gay love.” When we listen to a song like Toni Braxton’s “Another Sad Love Song”, we’re not listening to it and thinking “Damn, that’s a really good STRAIGHT love song.” No, you just hear it as a really good LOVE song. Maybe his songs will have “he” instead of “she” in it. But then again, most real GOOD love songs are focused on the “You” and “I”…not the “he” and “she.” And we all know Frank Ocean writes REAL GOOD love songs…

  • SDS_Overfiend

I don’t Co-sign Homosexuality.. Plain and simple. I was brought up the right way. You Niggas co-signing homosexuality cause a Nigga appear to be winning.

    • Mark H

Thanks for sharing. What’s your reason for not co-signing homosexuality?

      • SDS_Overfiend

Man was not created to reproduce with another Man. Neither was women. Its a ment

        ——————————

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Man wasn’t created at all. It’s funny how a religion created to spread peace and love is used to hate and destroy.

      • Michael Harrison

This. So much this. Love is love, and everyone deserves love. If you’re willing to give without demanding the other person sacrifice happiness, that’s beautiful no matter who it’s between.

And co-signing homosexuality? I did not know homosexuality was applying for a loan. A strange choice of imagery, I think.

    • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Thankfully homosexuality isn’t something that needs co-signing to exist.

      • SDS_Overfiend

Score 1 for the homos huh? Population coontrol at its finest. I guess your family tree ends with you

        ——————————

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I’m not gay so it doesn’t, but the ultimate population control is stupid people killing each other.

      • Thom

Like a wise man once said: I dont hate black guys killing each other….I’m just not interested in being apart of or
supportng their culture or way of life. Just like i dont hate alot of
people who’s lifestyles i dont agree with. That’s not hate…that is
        personal preference!

      • SDS_Overfiend

Too bad we are not talking about Violence. Secondly.. I stand behind my words. I don’t co-sign it. I never said i hate them. Big difference.

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Too bad you’re bringing up population control like you even know what you’re talking about. Nobody ever said “hate.” In these situations people say “I never say i HATE them” as if thinking it is wrong, immortal, or unnatural is much better. It’s not like there’s “hate” and everything outside of that is cool. Yeah, it’s your opinion and your preference, but just step back and realize how “I just think this type of person is inferior and wrong” leads to prejudice, injustice, and eventually violence. If you think one type of person sucks, yeah you’re allowed to think whatever you want, but if you are an adult you should have a reason. And if your only reason is “it says so in this old book” then you’re an idiot, and if it’s “I don’t like to be around it cause it’s gross,” then you’re immature. The whole reason we have these discussions is to make the world a better place, and everytime someone says “just leave me alone with my sh*tty thoughts, they are mine and I can have them,” we lose as a species.

      • SDS_Overfiend

You looking for a debate.. im not. Its my opinion. Final! You can sit and shape these other Niggas into softening their stance. Im good.

        ——————————

Why lie? You are gay. Thats why people cant get past it, you all lie so much. If your gay, let it out girl. Be freeee

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I like this form of logic, that anyone who defend gay rights is gay. It’s like everyone who defended civil rights is black.  If you voted for Obama, are you a centrist Hawaiian lawyer?

IT WAS PUBLICITY. IF IT WAS ABOUT THE MUSIC, HE WOULDNT HAVE SAID ANYTHING AND IT WOULD GO ON TO BE SUCCESS. BUT NOW YOU NEED SPECTACLE, AND DRAMA AND A CONVERSATION TO DISCUSS EVERYTHING ELSE EXCEPT THE VALIDITY OF
THIS PERSONS MUSIC.** THERE WILL COME A TIME SOON VERY SOON, WHERE AN ARTIST WILL CREATE SPECTACLE AND AWE BECAUSE OF HOW GOOD THIS PERSONS MUSIC IS NOT FOR HOW MUCH FAKE HOOPLAH THEY CREATE.

AND THEN MY FRIENDS, WE WILL SEE AN END TO ALL THIS FAKENESS…..
BLACK PEOPLE OF ALL LANDS HAVE TRIED TO SWEEP HOMOSEXUALITY UNDER THE
RUG…BECAUSE OF ALL THESE FAKE GANGSTER HIP HOP IMAGES THE KIDS SEE…

WE **NEVER IF HARDLY GET TO SEE OUR PEOPLE IN A ROLE, THAT SHOWS
THE DYNAMICS OF MANY GIFTED AND TALENTED BLACK PEOPLE….

MY BLACK PEOPLE, WE NEED TO GET A HOLD. THIS SHIP CALLED “US” IS BEGINNING
TO CAPSIZE… WE NEED TO KEEP OUR IDENTITY, OUR CULTURE AND SOUL.

THE PERIOD OF ABSOLUTION MUST BEGIN AGAIN…..

    • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I don’t think he was coming out for the attention. That’s not how it works, especially in hip hop, where it’s an uphill battle (hip hop culture treats gays as badly as the Republican party.) In terms of marketing, he stands to lose more than he gains by doing this, but he was doing it as a human being.

      • Pierre Elliott

I feel you. But still , He shoulda just come out with the album. And said some gay coming out stuff later. AFTER we get to know him as an artist. I think people need to understand the process of media management. Firms, and demographics. Everything they do, is damn near based offa numbers…

You have to understand people, we are dealing with beings that deal with zeros and 1s….
And being a HUMAN, FIRST HAS NOTHING to do with sexuality.
Being gay and coming out is a big deal, but to do it as you start your career
and all that time leading up to it, and then the album drops
but before that happens, he comes out.

Naw that shit is trying too hard.
Its not genuine, its label execs saying: Frank, we trust you.
Believe in you, but youre gonna need to clear units before we can discuss other things…

Trust me I worked industry, and they will send people in to coach you…
Everything they need to get their initial investment, out of you.

Its a pimp and hoe situation,  Frank to me; just bent over a lil more
for the bullshit. What about all the other gays that come out who dont get
        “media” attention?

Like I said, Il give him props. But considering the gay friends I have
and all the struggle they went through….

Its all about timing: This is contrived, its not sincere.

Dont fall for the media brainwashing people.

  • If it isn’t true, can’t really take it back now.  But i am inclined to think that it is and I wonder if them Odd Future cats knew bout it?

  • Mos High

I never liked luther vandross even before I knew he was gay, now that I know I could never fire up any of his music its just my choice, why because he sings about alot of relationship love and there choice is not mine.   Frank Ocean never really listened to his music , Im sure he is talented and good. but truthfully I dont want to hear hime talking about love makin.  I dont care if suppose to be man on women it will still come across as man on man becuase of his sexuality.

  • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

It’s like Illseed abandoned the rumors section cause he learned how to write well. There’s no typos or insanity at all in this thing.

  • Hetrosexuality is “nature’s way” because the first law of nature is self preservation! The ONLY way to NATURALLY preservate human life is through the union of man and woman sexually. That makes hetrosexuality “nature’s way”.

With that said…..I personally dont care if he’s gay or not but I definately wont be listening to love songs from a man directed at another man by referencing a “him” or “he” as the object of affection. Now if he makes dope music and DOESN’T reference a “he” or “him” then I can listen to it. I love Luther Vandross (gay or not) but I wouldnt listen to any song he made that referenced a dude as the object of his affection by saying “he” or “him” instead of “she” or “her”.

Also…I dont hate gays….I’m just not interested in being apart of or supportng their culture or way of life. Just like i dont hate alot of people who’s lifestyles i dont agree with. That’s not hate…that is personal preference!

    • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Homosexuality happens in all sorts of other mammalian systems. In fact, as a product of nature, everything we could ever possibly do is natural, and exists within those boundaries. There is no such thing as “nature’s way.” The only way to preserve human life, truly, is to adapt: this is the law of evolution. It is not survival of the strongest, but the species that can most adapt to a changing world/environment. I only say this because it’s these ridgid, sometimes arbitrary, definitions that hold us back from progressing as a society.

    • Thom

Living naked in the forest, hunting & eating raw squirrels and berries is “nature’s way”: as soon as we stopped hunting & gathering and started growing food on purpose we were already pretty far off “nature’s way”. Mothafucka said “preservate.” Is illiteracy nature’s way, too?

      • preservate. Definition … second-person plural present indicative of preservare; second-person plural imperative of preservare · Feminine plural of preservato

      • HustlaDaRabbit

Yes, ‘preservative’ is a word. But he said ‘preservate.’ And ‘preservate’ isn’t a word. Idiot. Did you even read the definition you posted?

      Well said brotha!!!

you cant compare frank ocean coming out to missy elliot, da brat, or queen latifah bc they are females… lesbians are much more accepted in the hood than gays… men dictate hiphop and in turn dicate the culture of the hood.. men (not me personally) enjoy lesbians, so they accepted in hiphop… gay men arent accepted in the hood bc they arent accepted in hiphop.. if frank continues to get the cosign from jay and ye and others like common, then the game might start changing.. lol people might argue btu remember jay was the one that got people to stop wearing throwbacks and start wearing fitted “I dont wear throwbacks nigga iam 30 plus, give me a crisp pair of denims nigga button ups”

  • HustlaDaRabbit

Would you dumbasses stop saying shit like, “I can’t listen to Frank Ocean if he’s going to be singing about sharing love with another man?”

Do you listen to Sade? Mary J. Blige? Adele? etc.? Do you think about sharing love with a man when they sing their songs? No. It’s music. Urban music/hip-hop is full of some of the most ignorant, simpleminded, people.

Music is art. It’s about feeling and imagination. Quit taking shit so literally you ingrate, 5th grader motherfuckers.

  • FO said his first love was a man..nowhere did he say he was gay. Falling in love with a man, doesn’t automatically mean you’ve sworn off women — granted for some it does — but it could be that he fell in love with an awesome person, that just happened to be a man. I’ve never understood why people insist that this is a black/white issue when really, its far more complex. Love doesn’t see gender. I hope the time where it’s socially acceptable for men to live that way is soon to come.

    • That perspective could only come from a gay or bisexual man. Falling in love/having sex with a man officially disqualifies one from being heterosexual.

      • Brian Andrew Smith

to your first comment.  that is completely untrue.  I am a straight male, and I agree with what was said above.

      • timwest1000

This is eveidence that gay is becoming a problem with you “men”. That is gay what you are saying. Curious or acceptable of the unnatural.

      • bytch shut the fcuk up you intolerant motherfcuker.  is there a dick in your a$$?  Are you trying to put a dick in someone else’s a$$?  if not, shut the fcuk up, and let live and let be.

    • Symone aka The Messenger

I feel a lot of people really confuse the sex with love….This is deeper than the sex, this is about that man’s soul….You would be amazed at the guys that call gay men all types of slurs that will allow a man to suck his d*ck and yet that same cat would say he’s not gay….

  • timwest1000

My problem with this whole thing is, If the industry is as gay as it is rumored behind tha fan-atics back, that would answer all the favoritism towards gays in the success dept. –Gay people look out for each other because of what they “went through” being gay. Some even compare this to being black. Newsflash: Black people do not hire or support you just because you are black. Gay people run the industry and the fans are rampant. If you are a hardcore male, you are blacklisted. JUST FUCKIN SAYIN

Gays will never be accepted in Hip Hop because hip hop is alpha male. Ya’ll fag loving journalist need to stop trying to add the gay factor to hip hop. We dont do that here. Faggotz aint welcome and never will be. Thats why the niggas that is fagz wont come out of the closet because they know their career is done after that. I’m only going to say this once. This is a prime example of how black America accepts anything into it’s culture even if it’s morally wrong.White people don’t do that. I’m starting to thing that everything that white people have been saying about us is true. We have been the moral fabric of this country for hundreds of years, but now I realize we live in an era of change but the question is, is the change better or detrimental to our communities? There is a gay agenda going on whether people want to accept it or not. Why do I need to know who is in your bedroom? I don’t care and neither should credible hip-hop websites. These people have all of you fooled into thinking that wrong is good and good is bad are you people that mind controlled??? Dream Hampton and GAY ass promoting Russell Simmons co-signing this bullshit. REMEMBER THIS BLACK AMERICA, NOTHING HAPPENS WITH OUT YOUR CONSENT. LOOK AT WHO IS CONSENTING AND THE POSITIONS OF POWER THEY ARE IN AND THEN CRITICALLY THINK WHY DO WE CARE THAT THIS MAN SLEEPS WITH MEN????????????? wooopty damn do! I don’t see how shit like this get’s press when other talented artists need this space legitimately.  Stick to the music please thanks. Oh and I will never listen to another Frank Ocean song again not because he is gay but because his music does not match his current life style which means you’re a liar and you’re trying to deceive me and that I don’t appreciate.

    • dcmc24

i’m only going to say this once. you’re a stereotype and you’re reinforcing every stereotype about the black community. black america has been among the least accepting of homosexuality, even as much of white america has accepted it. your argument is insane.

      • spiderzerohero

Blacks should accept homosexuality? Why? What does it do for us? Seperates us. Makes downlow brothers pass aids to our women. NONE of them stay together etc….They act more feminine than REAL women, I could go on with the embarrassment some of them cause. It is something that is not acceptable to all people, and those people have the right to not accept that shit, period. You cant make people accept that nasty shit, come on now.

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

If none of them stay together then why are so many of them fighting to get married?

  • EyeOpener2012

aiYiyi… We were castrated during reconstuction.  We were stripped of our names, families and beliefs in the diaspora.  Tyler Perry wears a dress and we APPLAUD.. and now the deathroes of black masculinity are upon us. You have turned your back on the natural order of things.  YOU who used to be the conscience of America are now it’s biggest laughingstock. You are wearing britches that either sag like prisoners or are too tight. Your children find mommy and daddy indistinguishable – IF daddy is around at all.  Your time is at hand.  GET YOURSELF RIGHT and GIRD UP YOUR LOINS like a FLIPPING MAN.  Take responsibility for yourself and your children.  You are fighting a losing a battle in the this world, but you are going to have to plant your feet on solid rock in order to steady the ship.  I don’t care what Obama, Hollywood or Oprah tells you – If it FEELS WRONG it’s because at its core IT IS. I suggest you regard the times.  It’s 105 degrees out here.  Your money is becoming worthless. Like Rome, this nation is in decline, and we are becoming LESS religious. This is NOT coincidence.

    • Brendget Jones

you sound like a cliched dick, get a life and stop trying to spout some pseudo-philosophical bs on a message board and you get YOURSELF RIGHT!

    • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I think you’re WAY overestimating the importance of Tyler Perry.

  • Symone aka The Messenger

I can’t do anything but give Frank Ocean props for being courageous to disclosed that his first love was for a man and that is what people need to focus on,”the love” not the sex.I’m surely not a crusader for gay people but I don’t I surely don’t hate them. The main thing I disagree with is when people try to link the Gay struggle to The Black Struggle but other than that I say  to Frank “be yourself”…..

I feel if you ‘re gay you need to be TRUE to yourself if no one else….

Saying your gay helps you sell records and boosts your career? THAT is a problem in itself. That means that gays are predjudiced to straight people. IF they are supportive based on thefact you are gay,it is what it is. Look at the last 10 yrs who was most successful. They were gay or seemed gay. MJ, Prince, Missy, Alicia Keys, Queen Latifah, LITERALLY EVERY FEMALE RAPPER, Katy Perry, and so on. If you couple that with the gay execs. and media, you have a gay monopoly!

  • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I just think it’s funny that when it comes to minorities or women, it’s “civil rights,” and when it comes to homosexuals, it is the “gay agenda.” If you tell someone MLK was “pushing a black agenda” you’d be upset. They’re kind of doing it with women by saying it’s some “feminazi agenda” or whatever. This is all the exact same thing, it’s just that one is being spun in the negative for… Some reason? And now they’re doing to gay people what they did to jewish people and claiming that this sudden acceptance is because they secretly run the industry and they’re some shadowy mafia forcing people to like them, now all of a sudden heterosexuals are the persecuted ones. Why? Cause of some sh*t Fat Joe said? So 364 days of the year he’s a useless idiot, and the one time he says something about gay people he’s the most inside, intelligent entertainer out there? This is supreme insanity.

    • atlantahiphopshop

FIRST OF ALL THIS IS A HIP HOP SITE, NOT ESSENCE MAGAZINE. HIP HOP AND GAYNESS CLASH, PERIOD. IT IS ENTITLED TO ITS OPINION JUST LIKE YOU. GAY PEOPLE  REPRESENT GAY PEOPLE. LIKE YOURSELF. THAT IS TRUE. THE INSANITY IS THAT YOU CANT SEE HOW PEOPLE LIKE PEREZ HILTON ETC. PROMOTE GAYNESS BECAUSE HE CAN RELATE TO IT. GAY FANS SUPPORT THEIR GAY ARTIST FOR THE SAME REASON. ALL PEOPLE ARE FOR THEIR OWN, EXCEPT BLACKS. HOW DO YOU THINK KREAYSHAWN EVEN EXISTS? DO YOU LOOK AT NICKI MINAJ’S FANBASE? THEY ARE 99% GAY OR KIDS, AND NICKI OBVIOUSLY IS NOT GAY!! WHY SAY SHE IS A LESBIAN? BECAUSE IT SELLS, WHY SAY “I KISSED A GIRL AND LIKED IT”, BECAUSE YOU WILL BE THRUST TO THE TOP BY THE GAY RADICALS. TIMES HAVE CHANGED. YOU PEOPLE ACT LIKE A STRAIGHT PERSON CANT FIGHT FOR THE RIGHTS OF BEING STRAIGHT! PEOPLE LIKE YOURSELF DEFEND GAYNESS AND SUPPORT IT BASED ON IDENTIFYING ALONE, NOT TALENT! YOU ARE FIGHTING FOR GAY RIGHTS NOW AND DONT EVEN SEE IT.

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Nothing about what you are saying makes any sense. I’m not gay so you can cool it with the “you people,” I’m just trying to get my head around how someone can say “gay people are wrong and stupid and a minority that is ruining society” WHILE SAYING “gay people control everything and help each other and are too widely accepted.” So are they a minoroty or not? Are the people or not? How did these “gay radicals” take control? over the past 2 years? Like there’s you over there seeing “I Kissed a Girl” and seeing it become a hit, and your first reaction is “A HA! I knew it was the Illuminati!” Seriously? I defend homosexuality cause we live in a country where these people get beaten up, openly mocked, and discriminated against, and then the moment they get any sort of slack, there’s people saying “WELL HMMM WHY DON’T WE GET A STRAIGHT PRIDE PARADE DAY HUH?” Like it’s just beyond ret*rded.

      • atlantahiphopshop

WTF IS THIS ILLUMINATI CONSPIRACY TALK? NOONE SAID ALL THAT! NOONE SAID GAYS CONTROL EVERYTHING, THATS CRAZY, YOU WISH. FIRST OF ALL YOU ARE GAY, DONT LIE. KATY PERRY WAS RAISED AS A CHURCH GOING GIRL WHO TRIED TO MAKE IT FOR YEARS, HER SOLUTION TO MAKING IT WAS TO APPEAL TO THAT GAY MARKET, IF KATY REALLY LIKED IT, WHY DID SHE MARRY THAT SISSY BRITISH GUY RUSSELL WHATEVER? NICKI-SAME THING, IF SHE IS REALLY A DIKE, WHY SAFAAREE (WHO SEEMS HIMSELF), LIL B-SAME THING TO GET ATTENTION, ALL THE WAY TO EDDIE LONG, REMEMBER HOW WELL EDDIE TREATED THEM GAY BOYS? TAKING CARE OF CERTAIN MEMBERS HUH? HELL THEY ARE SAYING FRANK O MAY BE DOING THE SAME THING TO SELL HIS CD. THE PERSON WHO RAN B.E.T WAS GAY, ALOT PEOPLE IN THE BUSINESS MAKING DECISIONS ARE GAY AS WELL. ALL THE FEMALE RAPPERS ARE GAY. NOONE SAID THIS IS A CONSPIRACY, PEOPLE ARE SEEING THERE ARE A LOT OF GAY PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE IN THE CLOSET SUPPORTING THEIR OWN, OBVIOUSLY. (BASED ON THE FACT THAT MOST OF THE MUSIC IS LACKING TALENT AND INGENUITY AND STILL SELLING OUT SHOWS ETC.) YOU SEEM LIKE YOU WISH GAYS WERE IN CONTROL AND PEOPLE THOUGHT OF IT AS A CONSPIRACY. WELL WE DONT, IT AINT THAT SERIOUS. BUT FACTS ARE FACTS, IF IT DIDNT PAY OFF TO BE GAY OR ACT GAY, WHY IS THIS ARTICLE HERE BASICALLY SAYING THE SAME THING, AND WHY ARE YOU RESPONDING TO IT WITH SUCH FEROCITY? ANY STRAIGHT PERSON WOULD NOT DEFEND SOMETHING SO ADAMANTLY. YOUR USE OF WORDS LIKE INSANITY AND IDIOT ARE PART OF THE MINDSET. CANT RELATE TO ANOTHER PERSONS OPINION. I COULD SAY YOU LOOK INSANE CLAIMING TO NOT BE GAY BUT IF YOU ARE EMBARRASED ABOUT YOUR SEXUALITY, IT IS YOUR BUSINESS. SEXUALITY IS ALWAYS A PERSONS BUSINESS, THATS WHY WE SHOULD WONDER WHY SOMEONE WOULD COME OUT AND PUBLICLY BROADCAST THAT BEFORE THEY PUT THEIR LIFE WORK OUT FOR SALE. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK. NOW CALL ME CRAZY FOR MY OPINION WHILE I GO GET ME SOME MILK AND COOOKIES. (IN BERNIE MACKS VOICE)

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Cause it’s the exact same thing. This shadowy organization that is persecuting whatever It’s not people fighting for civil rights, it is a group with an “agenda.” They are not trying to express themselves, it’s them “making it so we can’t be proud to be straight.” It’s looking at a minority that is carving out its place in the world and saying “there are evil forces behind it that are making the world more uncomfortable for us.” If you remember, that was the main point I was making in my original post, so maybe go back and read that. The only way you can make sense of this in your caps-lock dominated world is “it’s a marketing scheme.” It’s some ploy, it’s some tactic, it’s some coordinated method that gets you money. Nowhere in this discussion do you ever consider “maybe they are being honest.” Maybe people like these artists cause of the honesty rather than the homosexuality. If 50 Cent came out tomorrow as being gay, I don’t think he would sell more records. If you think it’s that easy, you’re an idiot. Lil B’s record “I’m Gay” is a big talking point. How much did that one sell? First week sales less than 2000 units. Yeah, real midas touch we got on our hands here. Furthermore, you’re taking it further by insisting that I am “one of them” or want to be “one of them,” as if being “one of them” is like being part of an army. I’m not gay, I’m just a grown up who is able to see the world from other peoples’ perspectives and find the absurdity in what most people are saying. Also, I’m not responding with ferocity, you’re the one who’s screaming.

      • atlantahiphopshop

YOU ARE JUST AN ANAL PERSON, IM NOT SCREAMING. WTF? YOU BLOG TYPE INTERNET GEEKS READ TOO INTO THINGS. I USE CAPS BECAUSE I  CAN, NO MEANING BEHIND IT (RETARDED??) I SAY FEROCITY BECAUSE YOU ARE ALL OVER THIS POST. HONESTY? NICKI AND KATY WERE HONESTLY GAY? LMAO. YOU REALLY DO NOT GET IT DO YOU? READ ILLSEEDS ARTICLE AGAIN. SEE WHAT BENEFITS ARE BEHIND ‘PLAYING’ GAY. ARE YOU SERIOUS? I DIDNT MAKE THE MODEL FOR GAY SALES. THE INDUSTRY FIGURED THAT OUT, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? IN THE CLOSET? YES, IN THE CLOSET.

      • Big Ice Bastardman ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Yeah, you are retarded for using all caps. It’s something an idiot does. It makes things hard to read and you seem egotistical. It’s like running down the street with your balls covered in mustard (cause you can.) I’m only responding to your post, why are you saying I am ferocious and gay just because I am responding to you? Did you not expect me to respond to you calling me gay and crazy? I’m just saying I think it’s really funny how weirdos like you fail to see how up until like 5 years ago it was okay to openly hate gay people, and then voer the course of like a year and a half it became “well yeah, of COURSE they’re gay, it’s cause they’re GREEDY.”

      • atlantahiphopshop

GAY PEOPLE AND WHITE PEOPLE ALWAYS REACT LIKE THAT TO ME. IM EGOTISTICAL, IM BOSSY, IM SCREAMING. I GOT MY BALLS OUT WALKING DOWN THE STREET, IM TOO MUCH OF A REAL MAN. **WELCOME TO HIP HOP** MAYBE WE NEED A NAME FOR GAY HIP HOP? THIS IS WHY THEY RUN TO THE ARTIST YOU DEFEND, DRAKE AND FRANK, THEY ARE SENSITIVE AND CUDDLY. HEY I GOT MY BALLS OUT AND MY JEANS AND JACKET ARE NOT TWO SIZES SMALL. IM NOT ASHAMED OF MY MANHOOD. I AM WHAT I AM. I KNOW THAT HIP HOP WILL ALWAYS CONFRONT OUTSIDERS LIKE YOU, SO I HAVE NO MORE NEED IN RESPONDING. IM OUT, SCREAMING WITH MY MUSTARD COVERED BALLS!!!!

People are trippin’ over someone who never actually “came out”.. He obviously still is attracted to women, so even throwing the word gay around is false. The whole argument is going off a label that the media gave Frank, It was more of a confession then a coming out. Don’t blow things out of proportion saying you “Can’t stand all this gay Shxt in hip hop” and all that non sense. Stop whining, no one is forcing you to listen or support. Last time I checked, the majority of the rappers in hip hop are straight – even if it seems otherwise. I don’t think Drake, Kanye, and all these new school guys are “gay”. They are just in touch with their emotions, and more people can relate to that then superficial BS that used to be so glorified. All the hate is wack and uncalled for. Frank fell in love with ONE man, the majority of his songs are probably not even written from the gay perspective that every douche on here is whining about. Chill out. Enjoy whatever artist’s music that you like, don’t worry about what other people want to support.
