Vic Mensa Discusses Orlando Shooting, Calls For Restrictions On Gun Purchases (VIDEO)

THE ROC NATION RAPPER SPEAKS WITH CNN

(AllHipHop News) Roc Nation rapper Vic Mensa has been on a mission to use his voice to bring awareness to social issues.

After showing support for Assata Shakur, taking part in the #JusticeForFlint fundraiser, and encouraging young people to register to vote, Mensa recently spoke with CNN about the mass killing in Orlando.

“The news about the Orlando tragedy just made me start thinking about how important it is that we take action in this election,” said Mensa.

The June 12 massacre at the Pulse nightclub left 50 people dead and over 50 others wounded. Politicians such as President Barack Obama and concerned citizens have called on more gun safety legislation in order to possibly decrease the number of mass shootings like the one in Orlando.

Mensa is one of the people in favor of pursuing some new policies on gun control. The There’s Alot Going On EP creator has faced backlash from gun rights advocates for some of his opinions about the matter.

“I’m not saying we should go and we should take away people’s guns. I’m not saying we should appeal the 2nd Amendment,” explained Mensa. “What I’m saying is that we need to be able to have far more restrictions put on who can purchase guns.”
